    Peace be upon you,

The God's system is not built around our desires/wants, it is built on Truth.

So no matter how we FEEL about "eid" and "christnmas", we have to live TRUTH.

10.57 Y ayyuh a(l)nnsu qad jatkum mawAAi{th}atun min rabbikum washifon lim fee a(l)udoori wahudan waramatun lilmu/mineen(a)

O mankind! there hath come to you a direction from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts,- and for those who believe, a guidance and a Mercy.

10.08 Qul bifali Allhi wabiramatihi fabilika falyafraoo huwa khayrun mimm yajmaAAoon(a)

Say "In the bounty of Allah. And in His Mercy,- in that let them rejoice" that is better than the (wealth) they hoard.

10.59 Qul araaytum m anzala Allhu lakum min rizqin fajaAAaltum minhu arman waallan qul llhu aina lakum am AAal Allhi taftaroon(a)

Say "See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you for sustenance? Yet ye hold forbidden some things thereof and (some things) lawful." Say "Hath Allah indeed permitted you, or do ye invent (things) to attribute to Allah?"

10.61 Wam takoonu fee sha/nin wam tatloo minhu min qur-nin wal taAAmaloona min AAamalin ill kunn AAalaykum shuhoodan i tufeeoona feehi wam yaAAzubu AAan rabbika min mithqli arratin fee al-ari wal fee a(l)ssam-i wal aghara min lika wal akbara ill fee kitbin mubeen(un)

In whatever business thou mayest be, and whatever portion thou mayest be reciting from the Qur'an,- and whatever deed ye (mankind) may be doing,- We are witnesses thereof when ye are deeply engrossed therein. Nor is hidden from thy Lord (so much as) the weight of an atom on the earth or in heaven. And not the least and not the greatest of these things but are recorded in a clear record.

10.62 Al inna awliya Allhi l khawfun AAalayhim wal hum yazanoon(a)

      Behold! verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve;

10.64 Lahumu albushr fee alayti a(l)dduny wafee al-khirati l tabdeela likalimti Allhi lika huwa alfawzu alAAa{th}eem(u)

For them, joy and happiness, in the life of the present and in the Hereafter; no change can there be in the words of Allah. This is indeed the supreme felicity.

10.65 Wal yazunka qawluhum inna alAAizzata lillhi jameeAAan huwa a(l)ssameeAAu alAAaleem(u)

Let not their speech grieve thee for all power and honour belong to Allah It is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things).

      Al-Qur'an, 10 (Yunus )

      As'Salaam Alaikum All,

Joy and Happiness are the reward for living righteously, they are our gifts from Allah in this world and the hereafter.
I celebrate every moment of everyday because I have not always been righteous in my behavior, it is only through the Compassion and Mercy of Allah that I have been able to overcome the evil whispering of my ego and surrendered to the will of Allah. Now my heart is continuously filled with joy, love for Allah. We are too quick to judge each other's motivations and reasons for doing what we do, but Allah is the only judge and the Best Knower of what is in our hearts. We cannot second-guess what Allah has determined to be our proportion of understanding at any given time, or our state of being, or the being of others. There is nothing wrong with joy, as long as we do not attach ourselves to it, this holds true for any emotion, as they all have their place in the composition of our being "human", but they are not the sum total of our "Being"
In the Qur'an Allah removes the people who become a blight upon Hu's creation. If someone is allowed to exist and be, as all things exist through the will of Allah, who am I to forbid or make attempts to disallow what they do? I must look to see Allah's will being made manifest, so that I can learn the lesson of their existence.
These are just a few thoughts I have on this thread of discussion.

      Ma'Salaam,
      Olusanysa

Indeed I understand what you mean, so let me be absolutely clear because I don't want to be misunderstood. Joy/happiness is a RESULT of PEACE, not a result of celebrating holidays.

We cannot celebrate every moment of everyday because that PUMPED UP feeling of celebration is not meant to be maintained. We can be thankful at every moment of every day, but to celebrate every moment would bring death to your physical body, ask a doctor if what I am saying is true or not.

So again, we maintain PEACE, and joy/happiness is a RESULT of Peace. So we go from peace to pleasure to peace to pleasure, while the rejector goes from pain to pleasure to pain to pleasure.

Hey there TAJ, salaams to you,

Where have you been all along? Good to hear from you again. Haven?t heard from AaRon as well for a loooong time. Hope life is keeping you abreast and sound by GOD?s grace and blessings.

Your life experience is, clearly, way different than mine! Most importantly is that you are ok now, and Al Hamdu le Ellah you have your wife and kids, all well and around you. That is a great blessing )

All praises are due to Allah. I realized that the problems/burdens created/lies within myself and hence the adjustments to further humble and attune to my surroundings and ways of life to that of my wife and kids and ofcourse others. It has surely not been easy for me but I must succumb to my untoward behaviour that would otherwise become detrimental, witnessing the conditions that I am in, knowing that my wife is 14 years younger and of entirely different culture.

The situation in the Islamic countries cannot be so bad on men. They can pick themselves up and just leave! For the women, it is a real tragedy! cry

In ?Islamic countries?, I believe religion of mullahs comes into play. Nevertheless, sadly but surely, I agree with you wholeheartedly.

I have a cousin who left to live abroad and I can't even bring her name up! I miss her so, so much but I know nothing about her. We use to be very close when we were little, along with the other children in the family, but now her space is empty, and I can't hold my tears every time her image comes to my mind cry

Would you mind summarizing a little about her situation as to what brings you tears of her image and a lost frined?

On the contrary, Eid is not the only time when one meets/visits their family members, relatives or friends just to be in touch or to get together. That is far-fetched and is simply based on "religious grounds", I believe.

We do meet each other all during the year, of course, moving around from one house to another. That is the norm. But in big occasion, i.e. weddings, funerals, celebrating for a graduation, etc..and of course the Eid anniversary, the whole family would gather in one place, under one roof. For the Eid, it would usually be the big grandfather's. That makes it much easier on everybody to meet everybody else, and save us the time spent on the road )

But there are still some few houses that we still have to visit, because there are some elderly who are too old to leave their place and join the rest, so we would visit them also, usually before the Eid lunch time.

But why should people get together at Eid time in particular, and prepare a huge feast and give gifts, etc? Maybe because the energy is very high at this particular time, after going through the fasting and the big number of Ssalawatt in Ramadhan which kept everybody occupied and busy away from spending much time with others. So people would be so eager to meet each other again and congratulate each other for their patience and perseverance. So the level of energy is really high and very emotional at that special time of the year.

In Eid Al Adha, the celebration energy is less, because almost everybody would be in Hajj, away from their homes, and when they come back, they would be very exhausted, so we, the ones who didn't go to Hajj would visit them separately, every one in his/her own house and the atmosphere would be quite different, more holy than jolly! roll
Well, that is my humble analysis!

My personal view on your shared thoughts are as follows

Certainly the occasions can bring joy (weddings, birthdays, graduations, sporting events, picnics, family/freinds reunions, etc.) and as well as sadness (death, funerals, health and family problems, divorces, financial setbacks, accidents, etc.), but these are all Natural Systems and Ways of Life and has no demeanor or significance to religious festives in the name of GOD such as Eid, Haj, Ramadhan, Ritual Salaat, tithes, to name a few, which are nothing but enforcements/encroachments/burdens scrutinized, manipulated and mandated in the name of GOD.

The ?kaba? in Mecca is a stone structure, a building, and everything to do with ?Arabic Religion? evolves and revolves around and surround it, to the extent that it has been specially designated as Allah?s House by Allah Himself, which apparently has been destroyed and rejuvenated several times. People literally run around this building and at Safah & Marwah back and forth like madmen, kissing its walls and floors, bellowing their voices upon this fashioned building by saying, ?O GOD, I?m here?, bowing and prostrating to it, drinking refrigerated ?ganga? water and naming it holy ?zum zum?, killing tons of animals, mercilessly trampling others, traveling/lodging/boarding expenses, shopping extravagaza, sightseeing tourism, etc., etc., and last but not least, the stone throwing contest at Minnah next door (near Allah?s House), where people shout and yell all kinds of nasty words by throwing pebbles at larger erected stones thought to be reminiscent of devils. How pathetic and insane that can get, yet the majority are blinded to their utter cynical paganistic fore-fatherly idolworshipping beliefs and continue to do so even after repeated reminders. Finally, they accuse and make a mockery of all other religions (specially the Jews, Hindus and Buddhists) of their idolworshipping acts and schemes, perhaps secretly admitting their creed for greed and outwardly proclaiming their innocence, all in the name of GOD and Muhammad.

No offense to you TAJ, but the facts of Arabic Religion are prominent, imminent and hilarious.

          GOD Bless.

                        HELLO PEOPLE
EID IS A SUNNI CELEBRATION. THIS CELEBRATION HAS NOT BEEN PRESCRIBED BY ALLAH OR THE PROPHET BUT THE SUNNIS SAY THAT IT IS. SO IT IS AGAINST ALLAH AND THE PROPHET. SO WHY CELEBRATE SOMETHING THATS AGAINST OUR CREATOR? YOU CAN HAVE FUN WITH YOUR FAMILY ANYTIME WITHOUT IT BEING EID OR CHRISTMAS OR DIWALI ETC. GET IT PEOPLE?

                            Salam and Peace on you!

The two Eids, "Eid-ul-Fitr" and "Eid-ul-Adha" are not mentioned and ordered in Allah's Exalted Quran.
So, Allah didn't command us to celebrate Eids.

It is indeed, the clergies of the ummah who issued this commandment, and the whole of the ummah (more than 99.99%), whom the religious scholars have made their slaves, follow them and celebrate Eids.

                            Eids are not Allah's Commandments.
So, it is nothing but a wastage of money. It is nothing but becoming extravagant.

The ummah spends billions of dollars on vanity, when at the same time there are, in this ummah, and around the world, poor, who are without food, shelter and medicine.
Those poor, they and their children, crying and dying in deprivation, but the unjust rich of the ummah celebrating Eids, which is not a commandment in Al-Quran.

Not in words, but with their actions the cruel rich are answering the poor, "We don't care if you and your children are without food, shelter and medicine, and dying,---for us Eid is more important than your basic necessities.---We will let you die in deprivation, and not care a bit."

If only, people had read Allah's Quran and had Iman in It from the core of their hearts,---then they would have know that---

We can not live a plushy life.-----We can not live in big expensive houses, wear gold and expensive clothes, eat expensive foods,-------when there are a lot of people hungry, without medicine and shelter.
Living style, houses, clothes, foods, must be,-----must be simple (not tempting to others).

We are not given to use up,-----whatever is more than our needs,---must be given out.
If we make an average of the Rizq in this world,---no one can be rich,---and no one will be hungry.

If we try to become rich,---we will destroy the average.-------And we will be the criminals.
We can not become rich,---until a lot of people become poor, destitute and die in deprivation.

Because-------Allah sent down Rizq in accordance with our "Needs",-----and not in accordance with our "Unjust Wishes".
