Yes, everyone has their right to be utterly silly, but that doesn't mean I don't have the right to try to make them see sense by giving a variety of examples.

    Freedom,

They are mocking the Quran. Let them be. God will deal with them. They can make excuses up that they were joking but I doubt God will accept it. No muslim can ever do that. The Quran should never be discussed in that manner by muslims. So avoid those who do.

      My name is Ted,

If you call exposing falsehood for twisting meanings that can be your opinion. You rather have a text which sounds ridiculous due to misinterpretation you can have it that way. I will not stop you.

There is much nonsense extracted from the mainstream translations such as the nonexistent ritual salateh.

      Salaam

There is a way to expose misunderstandings of scripture. Using ridicule is not one of them. This is about the words or supposed words of God. The God who has destroyed many nations who ridiculed the messengers of the past. A topic like this should never be treated lightly out of respect for God and for the fear of judgement day.

Salat is clearly prescribed in the Quran. If you don't agree that's your choice. If want to find out from others why then ask them nicely and question them deeply.

Salateh is not particularly clear unless you are dishonest.

If interpretations are wrong you may think you derive the right one, but that does not need to be so. And I hardly treat the scripture lightly and that is why I am devoted to the work I am committed to. I do not want to stare at a lot of lies.

Even though I don't pray 5 times a day myself I do think it's clear that it is required at least 3 times a day explicitly and 5 implicitly. However I believe it's Gods grace that he doesn't state a punishment for not praying 5 times a day strictly. Maybe this is a test to differentiate between those who get the top level of paradise those who are nearest to God.

I accept that my understanding of the Quran may be wrong. I am always open to correction and have corrected myself through the reading of others opinions and thoughts. However I feel you reach a point where there is less and less of a doubt about the understanding of the Quran you have. For me this is because it all fits, it all makes sense. Whereas before an explanation may have simply fulfilled your own desire and thoughts of what God was like in order for you to justify it others and yourself.

Reading your posts I feel you haven't thought through things properly. My suggestion is that you clear out your biases and re-read the Quran.

Because the interpretation is clearly unrighteous. In its present shape, despite errors in portrayal over what individual words mean (such as Father, son etc), New Testament, at least the four canonical Gospels, portray the faith far more accurately than available interpretations of Quran.

Knowledge that used to be with people seems lost somehow concerning the dynamics of the phenomenon of God which was with Moses already 4000 years ago. If one found the stone tablets with the "Commandments" and then interpreted it just as it was intended when it was inscribed then they would see on the very first line and on the second about not making an image of the phenomenon of Allah (or Elohim as it says in that text).

And you could then immediately see the error in the ritual salateh too and also the even grosser error in praying towards a building in the desert of Arabia.

                Salaam

I have read Quran lots of times and I also research on it and I am sure I have as little bias as one can have, Ted. Because I detach myself from all traditions, lexicons and other sources, and instead learn the language from itself by letting it speak itself.

Why is that considered bad? It would be bad if people think that is God, but its just an organized direction so that people aren't looking up at the sky or in all kinds of directions.

Also why do you think that gospel interpretation is "more accurate", like what do you base it on that you think one is more accurate than another?

                    2144
We have seen the turning of thy face to heaven (for guidance, O Muhammad). And now verily We shall make thee turn (in prayer) toward a qiblah which is dear to thee. So turn thy face toward the Inviolable Place of Worship, and ye (O Muslims), wheresoever ye may be, turn your faces (when ye pray) toward it. Lo! Those who have received the Scripture know that (this revelation) is the Truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do.

                      Easy stuff!

We know that the Qiblah was Jerusalem, the direction that all previous Prophets and messengers
                      faced during prayer, but then

2/143 And thus We have made you a medium (just) nation that you may be the bearers of witness
to the people and (that) the Messenger may be a bearer of witness to you; and We did not make
that which you would have to be the qiblah but that We might distinguish him who follows the
Messenger from him who turns back upon his heels, and this was surely hard except for those
whom Allah has guided aright; and Allah was not going to make your faith to be fruitless; most
surely Allah is Affectionate, Merciful to the people.

                      Muhammad fond of Mecca

2/144 Indeed We see the turning of your face to heaven, so We shall surely turn you to a
qiblah which you shall like; turn then your face towards the Sacred Mosque, and wherever
you are, turn your face towards it, and those who have been given the Book most surely
know that it is the truth from their Lord; and Allah is not at all heedless of what they do.

Masjid al-Qiblatain ( &#1606 (Mosque of the two Qiblas) is a mosque in Medina that is
historically important for Muslims as the place where the Islamic prophet Muhammad,
leading the prayer, is said to have been commanded to change the direction of prayer
(qibla) from Jerusalem to Mecca. Thus it uniquely contained two prayer niches (mihrabs).
Recently the mosque was renovated; the old prayer niche facing Jerusalem was removed,
and the one facing Mecca was left.

Yep! I face Mecca during salat, I mean c'mon when I was Christian in congregation,
we rose from our seats facing the podium and said prayers (one direction).
Now that I'm Muslim, the ritual prayer is different, with no chairs we face one
direction and perform salat. It's just plain nuts to have a hundred people facing
in different directions. To do it otherwise reminds me of the three stooges who
couldn't get out of each others way.

                            Peace FreedomStands.

I tried to work out where GOD is, so I can turn facing Him( No gender intended with HIM/HE/...). According to Jews and Christians He lives in the sky above Jerusalem. According to the "Muslims" He lives in the sky above Mecca. According to me He is nearer to me than my jugular vein, He is also everywhere.

Those who pray to Him have to face a direction! Can you imagine the chaos if a group of people praying together faced any way they liked?

Those who do not believe in prayer/ritual and meditate also have to face a certain direction, even if they meditate upside down?

I follow Qoran , I face the window in my house which happens to face the direction of where the sun rises ,which faces Mecca...

The earth is moving ,while praying I am possibly facing all the direction/s the earth is while moving with me,my window,Mecca, thinking I/they am/are standing still.

I agree with Hawk . However, there are exceptions when in danger and you pray in your head/travelling/ill in bed.... i.e there is a danger for you to pray facing Mecca!!

                            GOD bless you.
                            Peace.

                                Peace.
                                GOD bless you

Very good! I do too. Of course I don't believe it if people think that Allah is some object above Mecca, but I believe Allah is closer to us than our jugular vein as you and the Qur'an have said. This direction distinguishes us from people who seem to be unable to do turn that way for whatever reason.

They might think we somehow "worship Mecca" but we know for certain that we only worship Allah.

Allah is sufficient, The Quran informs us who/what Allah is by his attributes and those
who state who/what Allah is outside of his attributes only guess/conjecture.

                                  Peace good logic

What is the danger of facing Mecca?

Under unusual circumstances, you may pray while walking or riding. Once you are
safe, you shall commemorate GOD as He taught you what you never knew.

                                  God bless you

Well Freedom, turning their faces is a very imaginative translation to say the least. Qiblateh means role model or front figure. If your Qiblateh is almasjed al-haraam is means that is your role model. It is inconsistent that that is a building then. But if you have the "Commandments" (I call them guidelines which I deem a better interpretation) that is obviously your role model.

Almasjed Al-haram means to "do what is good/sanctified" basically, as a compound word. Watchword could be another understanding. It speaks of doing what is goodly nevertheless.

Somehow the list of commandments were lost somehow on the way despite that Jesus was very mentioning about it. Here you have the reason why they are not mentioned in Quran as to have focus on them.

It is fairly intriguing why such could be turned into a Pagan idol from an innocent word just as the innocent salateh could be turned into a ritual despite that it refers to your ways, behavior or lifestyle.

                                    Salaam

What is your translation of 2/144?

Peace Man of Faith, mmkhan, what is your Arabic word meaning "kill"?

Did you find your Arabic word meaning kill?

Man of Faith has an interesting technique where he paints the meanings of words by the meanings he takes each letter to have (based on apparent observation or something) and then combines those single letter meanings together to come to what he believes is the meaning of the word. I'm also very curious in finding out how he comes to the letter meanings and what words he looks at with those letters to figure out the meaning of each individual letter or whatever the technique may be.
