Yes indeed , Whoever purifies his/her soul will redeem it and whoever defiles his/her soul will neglect it.
    GOD bless.

Consider if the passage said this instead and you see it makes better sense and why it would "prohibit evil and vice".

You shall recite/study/preach what is revealed to you of the scripture, and observe the Guidance, for the Guidance prohibits evil and vice. But the remembrance/honoring of God (through Guidance) is the most important objective( to feed your soul).* God knows everything you do.

Honoring is my insertion. You honor GOD like you honor your own father (as in making pleased with).

My mind is tickled as to why you so stubbornly continue to believe in ritual prayer fabricated by deluded clerics who like to be praised being important as prayer leaders and for other reasons.

      Be well

        Peace Man Of Faith.
        Are you addressing me?

If you are ,then this is my answer .

I believe God has defined contacting Him by the word Al-Salah or in Qoran.

This word means "direct contact or getting in direct touch with" in Arabic language. When God refers to contacting Him, He always uses this word defined by one of the most powerful grammatical tools of definition, Al or or the.

Besides the distinction it makes between the rite and command of contacting God and the casual praying or imploring one could do any time, anywhere, and in any manner, this defining tool, the/, assures us that Al-Salah/ is an already existing, well-known practice or rite that is much older than Qoran and Muhammad.

I believe in all Qoran and take GOD s words seriously, all of them.

Also I find your argument very weak ,it is ignoring parts of Qoran.

If you devote your Salat to GOD Alone you are following the guidance ,honouring GOD and valuing GOD as He should be valued by believing every word in His scripture.

        GOD bless you.
        Peace.

          Good logic,

Salawa means "to be in contact with" by following perceptibly yes.

Why is my argument weak? Have you not seen all the examples I posted and how coherently they suit?

          Perhaps except lamely translated ones.

56 is so lamely interpreted and translated that it is almost a mockery of the scripture.

                Peace All.

Brother Hawk, I tend to agree with you here.

                May I also add the following ;
                6416
Therefore, you shall reverence God as much as you can, and listen, and obey, and give...(Anfiqou, What you can) for your own good. Anyone who is protected from his own...( selfishness/ego...), these are the successful ones.

GOD does not need anything. It is for our own good

                2278
You shall strive for the cause of God as you should strive for His cause. He has chosen you and has placed no hardship on you in practising your Deen - the Deen of your father Abraham. He is the one who named you "Muslimeen" originally...
Therefore, you shall observe the Salat and give the Zakat, and hold fast to God; He is your Lord, the best Lord and the best Supporter.

There no compulsion in the Deen.

                Peace good logic

Thanks for the ayats, of course who can say it better than Allah! )

This is a blatant lie. I am performing a comprehensive research on this with astonishing results and they do not stem from my personal opinions.

                Peace Man of Faith

May your endeavors be successful, but as of yet you have not proven
we should not perform the salat ritual, only your own hostility, rancor,
anger, and distaste via your personal opinions.

                Peace hafeez kazi

I am saying ritual prayers are a good thing, you say they are bad,
you are not forced to make salat, but to say it does not enhanced
the well being of believers is just untrue. I will concede that some
folks do not like it for various reasons like (fard, or no. of rakats
both have no Quranic support) and some folks don't like Ramadan,
but you will be hard pressed to find prohibitions of bowing
and prostrating as per Quran, deniers of ritual salat only
                give their personal opinions.

God has no need for anything, making a great deal of things appear redundant.

Which might one imagine the merciful God would favor more? Perhaps you could rank these

The one who doesn't perform any form of worship, sincere or insincere
The one who worships in sincerity
                The insincere worshiper

(Will the one who worships God in sincerity receive the same as the one who
never worshiped and found such expressions redundant and pointless be
considered equal? Yet to force someone to worship who does not believe
in it or understand it would produce an insincere worshiper, so people who
don't want to pray and don't understand things like formal worship should
                certainly flee from it)

At the end of the day though, meditation, worship, etc, are gifts of God to the people, not the other way around!

Peace welcome back FreedomStands, I agree that communities have their
ways of worship indeed. Of your list I would say "The one who worships in sincerity"
is the one who God would favor more.

                God bless

                  Hawk99,

I have not shown such, only intensively bringing forth arguments. Of course I get a bit upset when you blatantly lie, but I am not without control.

I have brought forth consistent arguments and you only say this because you have that pride in yourself while you yourself is posting ancient opinions when you parrot Quran quotes with an incredibly weak interpretation. My suggestions on salat are more in line with what the word means, but you are just too stubborn to reflect, digest and accept it.

The claim I put forth that even if I had not interpreted 56 and such passages, the conclusive signs indicate this word does have nothing to do with a stupid ritual. And that is not my opinion even if it is your opinion that I carry forth an opinion only.

How would you translate QA. ALLH (&#1607?

There are a few root meanings of that word, the main one seems to be "Worshiped" but there is also "Powerful" "Beyond" and things like that. Arabic roots are generally action words or verbs. Deeper examination reveals concepts like "to be in Awe of" "Reverence" and other things like that.

God is a fine translation (God comes from a root meaning "invoked" from a different language family) and it is generally used to refer to the Supreme power, but I was just wondering why you were cutting out the o from God the way that Jewish people do sometimes.

Haha I do like that you said ALLH kind of like how some people go YHWH (A Jewish person would probably replace that with Adonai or HaShem or something though). ALLH is an accurate transliteration of the letters at least.

I wondered if it was because of some belief of "do not say the name of God in vain", but God is not the name of God, it simply means "the invoked one" and there seems to be no different between saying God and G-d since both combinations of symbols represent the same thing, so the whole exercise seems rather futile and silly, almost like a person is playing imaginary games.

Its like saying Sh*t in context and everyone knows what word was said there but one letter was taken out, yet when people read it they pronounced it, and the whole thing is rather fake and everything.

But God is not a swear word, and one should wonder if perhaps God is making a fool of a person by adopting such things, since it can be almost considered a kind of mockery, like how the Bible says "Always keep God on your mind" so then they put a little box with God's name in it literally on their forehead lol.

Though if you're uncomfortable saying God that is fine, but I don't believe that is the meaning of "do not say God's name in vain", firstly they were referring to the term YHWH which was considered to have magical properties of invoking power almost like a curse, and the silly belief that a spirit can be commanded by controlling its name and other things like that, none of which are true seeming today. The term "God" was certainly not on their minds when they said that.

In any case though I'm fine using the term God or Allah or any number of other epithets that are accurate, I'm about to post something where I mention God as something like the LORD OF HELL or King of the Fire or something haha its fun to make up epithets sometimes.

but I was just wondering why you were cutting out the o from God the way that Jewish people do sometimes.

As disclosed earlier, the expression 'G-D' (in my input) is an acronym.
I.e., it's not the term 'GOD' with an omitted "O" ...

                                Precision is a virtue.

This, of course, deserves no comment of mine.

                                  Freedomstands,

Arabic words are utterly descriptive in their way of conveying their meaning. For example

Kaf-Ta-Ba 'Cause Substance With" (to make knowledgeable)
Nun-Ba-Ya 'Integrity With Entity' (one with insight)
Siin-Lam-Miim 'Conscious Such as Thereof' (health/soundness)
Alef-Lam-Lam 'Be Such as Such as' (is such as)
Alef-Miim-Nun 'Be Thereof Integrity' (behave/act like)
Alif-Miim-Ra 'Be Thereof Solidness' (be determined)
Alif-Ra-Dad 'Be Solidness Visible' (what is visible/the visible reality)
Ra-Ba-Ba 'Solidness With With' (provider of solidness, a sustaining platform)
Sad-Lam-Wa 'Perceive Such as Adhesion' (track something with perception)
Lam-Alif 'Such as Be' (which is)

                                  Etcetera

Arabic words generally have a trilateral root and the order in which letters occur in the word determine action, expected result and mode of application. Mode of application or another letter in the root may be omitted if not contextually required as why you see words with only two letters even though they come from a trilateral root. Arabic does not generally have a word with only one letter, but an exception is the famous so-called initials of Quran which are part of a riddle-like inclusion, which were added for the perceptive to realize the basis of how Arabic is constructed, since the letters are supposed to carry a meaning of their own.

                                  Be well

Salam. Just to share a personal opinion after lurking the net and learning from others.

Salat is commitment and when combined with Zakat it means purify and grow your commitments.

As a human being, each one is assigned tasks based on roles one plays whilst living on this earth. For example A man who is married and have children is given the task of being a father, provider, husband, worker (if he is working), manager (if he is a boss), etc. Just looking at ourselves and the current roles we play (whether by choice or not) we are assigned tasks or commitments to perform this tasks as well as possible.

Often than not, we tend to create commitments that are not beneficial to us or others. Example committing to hang around in pubs with friends until late nights while we have a family at home may not provide benefit or may even be a complete waste of time. These wasteful acts of commitments need to be weeded out hence the act of limiting oneself to beneficial acts / commitments is Zakat. One would improve oneself further if the time saved from hanging in bars are used elsewhere more beneficial like quality time with the kids/wife/part time classes/jobs. In short Salat and Zakat combined is promoting steadfastness in acting out our commitments from the roles we play as well as weeding out unnecessary acts or wasteful acts.

As a human being who believes in Allah and the Quran, one of the commitment given is also the specific and deliberate act of personal communication with Allah. The times for this according to the Quran is Fajar and Isya'. Wusta is the period within for either Fajar and Isya', a short period between 'night to day' and 'day to night'. Given the short period, that is why it needs to be 'guarded'/disciplined. Given the short period, the specific communication with Allah needs to be performed even if one is found in an event where people congregate like seminars/shopping/etc. Jumaat prayer is not another prayer but the need to keep our commitments to the specific communication with Allah at the prescribed time. The only excuse when one cannot perform the specific communication to Allah is when someone is absent of mind like sleeping/intoxicated/etc (does not include menstruation or other sickness).

As for tahajjud, it is just doing something extra of a commitment to get extra benefits like extra studying/research/work etc.

So in short, human existence comes with purpose/roles/commitments. Need not go far to find out why we are here, just look at ourselves and the roles we play. Unfortunately not many realises that the roles and commitment we perform is the servitude that is required from us as a human being. Allah needs no servants but we as humans need to perform the functions we are assigned with as servitude and gratitude to our maker and with this realisation it becomes that which we always say in solat that our life and death is for Allah.

We are the created, a created being comes with purpose of creation, our purpose is to fulfill what Allah intends/assigned. So play our assigned roles to the fullest, weed out wasteful acts, grow our commitments to benefit mankind (we start micro i.e for ourselves then we graduate to macro ie for humankind) do good, avoid bad, do not go beyond Allah specific boundaries, avoid oppression and do not oppress oneself or others, be grateful and by fulfilling our roles and commitments we also attest our gratefulness to Allah.

Sorry for my English and I won't be able to provide specific references in the Quran. Just my understanding.

If you do what you are supposed to do then you keep the salat.

I can't deny that! In my world everyone is doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing and seeing and hearing everything they are supposed to be seeing and hearing.
