I halted reading my Quran a few months ago due to family members disagreeing with me about the Islamic religion. I wasn't talking about it openly, but more like hinting at Islam
I am an adult but live with extended family. They are all Christians. Is it OK being a Secret Muslim?
I don't want to bring conflict into my family by outwardly talking about Islam. I rather keep Islam secret between myself and God.I find that Islam is a truly beautiful religion. I think the Quran is the only word of God. The Hadiths and Sunnah are both innovations, which I don't follow.

Peace FaithSeeker,
I am a "secret muslim" as well. If you're living with people who are judgmental and critical, and who are really going to give you hell for it, I would just keep it to yourself. But if you see them saying something really wrong about Islam, I would politely try to correct them, if you feel comfortable enough.

Thank you so much for replying. May God reward you plentifully.
I will continue reading the Quran and do all Islamic activities in secret.
Even the town that I live in is 99% Christian, so I don't want to stir up any conflicts. I rather be as peaceful as possible.Peace FaithSeeker,

Peace FaithSeeker,
How can someone be a secret peacemaker? One is either a peacemaker or a criminal and usually people want to be secret criminals but I have never heard of "secret peacemakers".
Perhaps this is because of a misunderstanding as to what "islam" and "muslim" are (hint they are not proper nouns pertaining to a fabricated religion, but common nouns describing a state of being, as used in the quran).
Please see the following post and also read the following article
http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9608801.msg394115#msg394115

When someone asks me I tell them I am a peacemaker and I don't have a religion, or I accept the same message as originally brought by Moses and Jesus.
You might also want to see the following relevant verse
16106 Whoever rejects God after having believed-except for he who is forced while his heart is still content with belief-and has opened his chest towards rejection, then these will have a wrath from God and they will have a great retribution.
So when facing circumstances beyond control, one can apparently be a hypocrite kafir (pretend to be kafir on surface) while one still has faith in heart and it would be ok!
Peace

who would like a lamp and then shroud it so you cannot see its light?
even so, one must make sure the lamp is fully lit before exposing it to the wind, else the wind would put it out.
be at peace, and do not be pressured into anything, if Allah has willed, He will cause you to grow into a strong fruit producing tree, to feed his people.
even so, one must not expose a young plant to the grazing animals, as they will devour anything that gives them sustainance.
wellbeing be with you

Salam,
A believer with Moses (or one from the people of Pharoah?) was concealing his faith. Then he spoke against Pharoah.
Be patient. God has told us that it isn't us they reject, but His revelations, though, can't find verse now.

1 beleiving in supreme being(lord of universe)
2 the last day of judgement
3 doing righteous deedsare however minimum requirement for a believer but again...
like everything rules , law , driving... need books or instructions to understand what actually the point 1 and 3 is...
however if one dnt read quran and counsume pork , is it beleiving? if one follow point 1 and 3 and making a relation with guy instead of girl... is it right? if somebody steal and think by robbing a robber is good thing hence i did rightoeus job.. is it right?
helping a poor, or making ourself selfish not to help other which deed is right ? on one hand losing money is not a rightoeus deed i thinnk according to society...?
i still dnt understand when people claim scripture is not at all required forr us to beleive...
may God bless all of you..
@ faith seeker welcome to family and dnt listen anybody just one time finish the reading quran and then reason urself... its indeed a beautiful book on the planet of earth... one must need to read it in their life time... but interestingly so called traditional muslims lot of them never ever open that book throughout their ages... but again this book is a universal message to all mankind from the lord of universe...

My family dreaded it when I was an Atheist. I felt not my best at that point of life either.
I actually moved out during that time and lived on my own, but I don't have the financial security at the moment. I had to move back.A lot of the people that I know dislike Islam due to all the negative media stereotypes all over the place.
But I just find Islam makes the most sense to me after a lot of research of different other religions and trying them out.
All the other religions used too much idolatry or just didn't feel like they are truly submitting to God alone.
I don't want to seem like a fake or anything like that. I'm still learning about Islam as a novice. I have been starting from the beginning of the Quran.
Hi Faithseeker and welcome to the forum handshake
Where they ok with you when you were an atheist (just read you first post)?

Thank you. I will keep reading the Quran. It is the only most holy book that made the most sense to me.
