    Peace be upon you all,

I think the question is actually the wrong one. We should keep in mind that if we ask nonsense questions then it should not be a surprise that we end up with nonsense answers.

The correct answer is "I don't know" for most people. We can never know is perhaps another alternative.

However one can ask it as "Which is the real message?"

And then everyone would say - "They all are".

We touched on this once before - 159 says that God promises to preserve the REMINDER - the message that He God is One and that we His creations are ACCOUNTABLE.

When I see messages like the last it concerns me that this question as it is asked has created a serious fitnah.

We are not without answers. We always have in our hearts the message that God has put there - that LA ILLAHE ILL-ALLAH.

There is no God but God.

    Peace.

      Peace truth,

However one can ask it as "Which is the real message?"

And then everyone would say - "They all are".

      or
"Which Quran Version is the More Authentic?"
Perhaps this question also has its dire consequences. In other words this question may imply as to which Quranic version is the absolute Word of GOD or is it/are they??? If all are "real messages" with varying differences, then surely none can withhold absoluteness, meaning GOD's actual Words.

Perhaps we can only reflect and seek the message contained therein regardless of which versions, and adhere to our utmost righteous Ways of Lives in accordance to the System we currently live in that surrounds us. Just my thoughts.

        Peace Truth,

The question is designed to spark a discussion process, not a "fitna".

Obviously if the question were "whcih is the real message" then the answer would be "all of the above", but I am not asking about the message, I am asking about the text.

Christian missionaries have a field day with this question, especially when confronted by people who reject the Hadith and only acknowledge the Quran as being God's word and inspiration...

        How many Quran's are there?

        Which is the authentic one?

Saying all that, I do acknowledge that the existing versions are within 98% accuracy of each other...However, there is a difference of slight words and letters (and even verses if you take Khalifa's version) which cannot be reconciled by ignoring them or saying 'they are all from God' (they certainly are not, as God has revealed one text).

          Peace be upon you all,

Christians have no room to discuss "which VERSION".

Regarding the word "quran", it ONLY means reading. ANYTHING That is read is a reading(quran). We are interested in the God's reading(quran). We discern the God's reading by the Proof of guidance and no contradictions to itself and the Universe(al kitaab).

Do any of the versions not uphold to the criterion to verifying if it is from the God?

            Peace Kyle,

The question cannot be waived away that easily...

Look at the pool thus far...The majority are not sure which (if any) is the true revealtion.

Do you know which it is?

Hafs, warsh, etc are all one Qur'an. Anyone who knows anything about the different qiraat would realize this. All have the same surahs, verses in the same order, and the surahs are in the same order. Anyone who knows old Arabic literature will also know it was very common to give the same sermon, verse, etc but modify it slightly. The idea of slightly varying the same material was a major component of old Arabic literature. The question posed is aimed at people who really do not know anything about the textual history of the Qur'an. I'm assuming the coda to the question will be

" how can you know which one is real? You can only know with the 19 code"

I'm shocked actually that people take this 19 nonsense seriously. There is nothing special about the number 19, nor is there a secret 19 code in the Qur'an. How about this though, just to be sure. I, or any number of people can send the "evidence" of this 19 code to known mathematicians at places like Caltech, mit, harvard, princeton, etc. I realize not all will answer, but some will. Let the real mathematicians decide. Btw Layth, do you have an email address someone can reach you at, besides hotmail?

This is the Scripture in which there is no doubt, a guide for the righteous.

                159
Indeed it is We who have sent down the Reminder, and indeed it is We who will preserve it.

                8521- 22
No, it is a glorious Quran.
                In a tablet, preserved.

What does Allah mean with "In a tablet, preserved", "Scripture in which there is no doubt" and "indeed it is We who will preserve it"?

Why do we have this problem?

                    Peace to All,

Does the Quran's structure and in particular the concept of Self-Refernece within the Quran's structure have anything to add to this subject?

You are correct in assuming I am doing this to lead upto a specific point...

But I will not let the cat out of the bag yet as to what that point/conclusion will be.

You would be surprized what 'nonsence' can give you if you study it correctly...But thanks for the offer of bringing in the 'experts' - I don't think that will be needed at this stage.

Which Quran Version is the More Authentic?

Oh Good Lord, as if we didn't have enough things to worry about already...here's a new thing!

They've even created different VERSIONS of the Quran and I was asking the Christians howcome there are several versions of the Bible?!?

                                  Salaams

I havent studied this question and don't have the arabic language skills to do so.

However, my assumption is that minor variations in a text (like the addition of "wa/and" here and there) are more likely to occur as the text is transmitted over greater geographical distances (less opportunity to check back with the source) and between people of different mother tongues. I think this is a fair assumption.

For this reason I suspect that the version used widely in the middle east (hafs) is less likely to have gained extra words that the version used in northwest Africa (warsh).

But there is a caveat to this. If there were semantic differences between the hafs and warsh versions I would be more nervous about making this assumption.

Still, look forward to your analysis Layth as and when its ready to post.

                                          Peace Khalil,

The Word file is too big to be uploaded (5MB).

What I suggest is that you download the Acrobat Reader (free software) so that you can read this and any future pdf files
