5148 And the earth have We laid out, how gracious is the Spreader (Maahiduun)..

God has constructed the sky and made it high and EXPANDED.. remember expanded.. How excellent the EXPANDER... Solid construction not expanding at all...

        "Rotating sphere

        Quran 395

Created the heavens and the Earth in truth. He overlaps the night over the day and overlaps the day over the night, and enslaved the sun and the moon. ALL MOVE to a prerecorded destiny. Is He not the Exalted, the Forgiver?

        ٥

The Arabic word "Kura كرة" means ball; the Quran used its verb "Yukawer يُكَوِّرُ" meaning to make into a ball. The Quran says that the overlapping of the night and the day makes a ball (sphere).

"ALL MOVE (Kullon Yajree كُلٌّ يَجْرِي)" here the Quran is referring to ALL MOVING, not only the sun and moon but also Earth. In Arabic grammar there is difference between the singular (one), binary (two) and plural (three or more). The reference to binary is "Kulahuma Yajreean كلاهما يجريان" however the Quran said "Kullon yajree كُلٌّ يَجْرِي" referring to the plural (three or more). Since the sun and moon are just two but the Quran refers to three or more then according to the Quran all the three move sun, moon and Earth.

The Quran says that Earth has a diameter (diameter is twice the radius).

        Quran 5533

O company of Jinn and man, escape the diameters of the Heavens and the Earth if you can, You won't escape without authority.

        ٣٣

        يَا مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ تَنْفُذُوا مِنْ أَقْطَارِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَانْفُذُوا ۚ لَا تَنْفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَانٍ

Diameter in Arabic is Kutr قطر. Its plural is Aktar اقطار. Radii and diameters are properties of circles or spheres only. This conforms with the previous verse, to make into a ball (Yukawer يُكَوِّرُ).

"Sateh سطح" in Arabic means surface however this surface can have any shape.or example, surface of the moon means " Sateh Al-Kamar سطح القمر " and has the shape of a sphere.

"Sateh سطح" could have any shape. it could have the shape of a saddle.

لسطح السرجي (بالإنجليزية Saddle surface) هو سطح أملس يحتوي على نقطة مقعرة أو أكثر.أتت التسمية من شبهه بسرج الفرس والذي ينحني صعودا وهبوطا.

        Wikipedia, سطح سرجي, 2019

This saddle shape is one type of "sateh سطح". "Sateh سطح" could have any shape but unfortunately it was mistranslated to flat. Flat in Arabic is "musattah مسطح" however it was not used in the entire Quran.

        Quran 507

And the Earth We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and have produced therein every kind of lovely pairs (of plants).

        ٧ وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ زَوْجٍ بَهِيجٍ

The Quran says that God spread out the Earth 'والارض مددناها' meaning increase in surface area. 'Madda' in Arabic means 'spread out' and is also found in Quran 2545 describing shadows as "non-static"; however this "non-static" was also mistranslated to 'flat'.

The Quran says that God spread out Earth, that is, increased the surface area during formation. Our solar system is 4.57 billion years old. Earth started accreting concurrently with the sun and our neighbouring planets 4.57 bln years ago. However during the accretion process the radius of Earth was not spontaneously 6400 km; but rather started a few kilometers long and progressively increased. The surface area is a function of the radius (surface area = 4πR2), that is, as the radius increases the surface area increases. So the Quran correctly described the surface area as increasing. (This is contrary to the Bible where the creation of Earth was spontaneous.)"

5533 Yes… This is the miraculous verse… Yes you can’t go beyond diameters of Earth and Heaven… Not only us even Jinn…
5535 .. what will follow if we try? Flame of Fire… That’s more than enough to get convinced that we are living in a CLOSED CHAMBER without being able to escape… neither we can go beyond the diameter of Earth nor we can go beyond the extreme construction of Sky.. in between we are confined… Anyone tries to encroach these limits will end up as per verse 5535… so be smart..
But for science we have gone beyond earth and landed on moon … amazingly those jinns who near the extreme heaven where God has decorated with kawkahab / masabeeh also cannot go beyond the edge of Earth… Perfect to think how God has created the Earth and above it heavens one above another… if the earth is sphere and rotating in the universe, the above verses are entirely meaningless… Bring meaning to me with logic… I do appreciate.. anyone I challenge bring meaning with above verses with science as it is your normal way..

Meanwhile 3905 is perfect… You and me and everyone knows sun looks round and it is round.. and it has its own light.. So when it emits its light to the earth it only emits round making a vast area of earth in light in round shape while another area is in darkness.. simply like Yin Yang.. So don’t worry about the shape of Sunlight… Sun is the one who makes the difference and not earth.. So yukawir is sun light and darkness.. Wraps with darkness and light and key is sunlight.. nothing else..

WE LIVE IN AN EXPANDING UNIVERSE
47- With power did We construct heaven. Verily, We are expanding it. (51- The Dispersing, 47)

            nope

            (51475) lamūsiʿūna - Active participle (form IV) = 2 times in (5147) and (2236)

One of the meaning of the form IV is "enlarge, extend, make larger, more spacious, with acc." or eventually "make a thing large, with acc."
=> But, in the verse (5147), the pronoun "it" that you translate doesn't exist ! so "without acc.".

Ibn Faris says the meaning of this word is "opposite to poverty and strictness".
Indeed, the Quran uses the word (l-mūsiʿi) opposite to (l-muq'tiri) in (2236), which means "he who receives abundance in sustenance".

So correct translation of verse (5147) is
"Indeed, We are surely the possessor of vastness! (abundance)
(we possess great power and capability and we also grant abundance in sustenance)

In short, NOTHING indicate here that we are in AN EXPANDING UNIVERSE.(wrong statement).
By linking the verse (5147) to the verse (2236), it becomes obvious (words "without acc." in both cases).

"Quran claims the Earth to be Sphere ( GEOID shape )
The Quran can continue to be interpreted in the light of new knowledge till the last day .

Quran in many of it’s verses states the earth to be a Egg shaped rotating sphere. among all, I’ll mention some of them to proove that the Earth as accordance with the Quran is Egg Shaped Sphere.

Please read this POST word by word with patience.

              Proof 1 - Surah Az-Zumar aayah 5 ( i.e. 395 )
Let’s begin with Surah Az-Zumar verse 5 which clearly states that the earth is egg shaped. I’ll explain this verse to the point with translation.

The below figures shows the verse in arabic and english translation as mentioned in Quran.com .

              image
              Figure 1.1

              Arabic Text - Surah Az-Zumar Verse 5 ( 395 )

              English Text - Surah Az-Zumar Verse 5 ( 395 )

              Source Quran.com

Keep note of the highlighted text

The above aayah (as per Quran.com ) states that night wraps over the day and the day wraps over the night. The word wraps has been used as a translation for the arabic word يُكَوِّر (Yukawer) which is not the actual meaning of it. instead it is just to make the verse sensible as a sentence.

Also if you refer to any different translation via different sources, you will notice the use of different words for the arabic word يُكَوِّر (Yukawer). The below image shows the translation of the same verse from a different source ( Al-Quran.info ).

              image
              Figure 2.2

              Arabic Text - Surah Az-Zumar Verse 5 ( 395 )

Keep note of the highlighted text

              Figure 2.2

              English Text - Surah Az-Zumar Verse 5 ( 395 )

              Source Al-Quran.info

Keep note of the highlighted text

The english word for يُكَوِّر (Yukawer) used here in Al-Quran.info is winds which makes it clear that the translation in Al-Quran.info is different from that of Quran.com which further makes it clear that the translation of the arabic word يُكَوِّر (Yukawer) is used different by different scholars.

So what’s the actuall meaning of the word يُكَوِّر?

The word يُكَوِّر (Yukawer) is the verb of the word kura كرة ( kura ) which in arabic means ball ( Figure 3.1 ) . So, يُكَوِّر (Yukawer) means making a ball ( Figure 3.2 ). For your confirmation of this word you can refer to the figures below which shows the translation of the word ball in english and arabic using Google Translator.

              image
              Figure 3.1

Arabic translation of the word Ball

              Source Google Translator

              image
              Figure 3.1

English translation of the word يُكَوِّر (Yukawer)

              Source Google Translator

This makes it clear that the actual meaning of the word يُكَوِّر (Yukawer) is not winds and neither wraps. The actual english word for يُكَوِّر (Yukawer) is making a ball.

So, the translation of the above aayah (395) would conclude that according to Quran, overlapping of the night and the day makes a ball (sphere).

Hence the earth is like a ball ( not claimed to be circular but of like a sphere ).

              Proof 2 - Surah Ar-Rahman aayah 33 ( i.e. 5533 )
This aayah in surah Ar-Rahman ( 5533 ) prooves that the earth has a diameter ( diameter is simply twice the radius ). The below figure shows the arabic and english translation of this aayah.

Keep note of the highlighted text

This aayah states that if humans and jinns can pass beyond the regions ( diameter ) of the earth and the heavens then they cannot pass except by authority of Allah.

The highlighted word أَقطارِ (aqtar) has been translated to regions in Quran.com which is not the actuall meaning of it. Also, different scholars have used different word for أَقطارِ (aqtar).

The word أَقطارِ (aqtar) is the plural of the word (Kutr) قطر which is the arabic word for Diameter. For confirmation refer the below figures ( 5.1 and 5.2 ).

So it is clear that this aayah (5533) talks about the earth’s diameter and we know that Radii and Diameters are properties of circles or spheres only. This confirms that the earth has a diameter and hence it’s a sphere. This also conforms with the previous verse (395), to make into a ball.

              Proof 3 - Surah An-Nazi'at (79), Verse 30 ( i.e. 7930 )
This verse prooves that the earth is egg shaped. Refer to the following firgures ( 6.1 and 6.2 ) with arabic and english text of surah An-Naziat verse 30.

              English Text of An-Nazi'at (79), Verse 30

              Source Quran.com

The above verse states that God spread the earth ( Figure 6.2 ) where the word spread ( highlighted text of Fig. 6.2 ) is the translation used for the arabic word دَحاها ( daha - highlited text of fig. 6.1 ).

Amazingly the word “دَحَا” (dahaa) is derived from word “دحية” (duhyah) wich specifically means ”egg of ostrich” (not just any egg). Some scholars had used the word “smoothed out” instead of “spread out” as the meaning of the arabic word دَحاها (daha).

For you to clearly understand the arabic word daha, I’ve to elaborate my explanation to the depth.

              The Arabic Word Dahaha
              Dahaha = Daha + ha

              دحاها = دحا + ها

Root verb is دحو / دحا

              Pronoun- ها

There are a lot of meanings of Daha ( دَحَا )

              1st General Meaning
              Daha

              دفعه و رمى به
              dafa'aahu wa ramaa bih
Caused it to Move, pushed it, Rolled, or Threw it.
              i.e دُحُورًاۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ-

Repulsed, and for them is a constant/painful punishment.

دحرجَ (dahraja) toroll, roll along, to roll down.
In Surah Inshiqaq - ayah 846 - the word kaDHan

              كَدح

advancing towards’ your Master) comes from the word

Dahaa = to Move towards something.

              Qirasah

              (Round) - Synonymous to

              Dahaa

In the hadith of Abi Rafiaa’

              و في حديث أبي رافعكنت أُلاعب الحسن و الحسين,رضوان الله عليهما,بالمداحي,هي احجار أمثال القِرصة

“I used to play with Al-Hasan and Al-Hussein, may Allah Almighty be pleased with them, with AL-MADAAHI, which means STONES that look like AL-QIRASAH.”

              So what does Al-Qirasah mean?

According to Lisan Al-Arab dictionary , Book 4, Page 516

القِرصة(al-qirasah) قرِّصي العجين أي سوِّيهقِرصة- Cut the dough into small round pieces.
القِرصة(al-qirasah) قرص الشمس اي عينها -The qurs of the sun means the eye of the sun, which is round.

              2nd Meaning

              Dahaa = Round and Spherical

The following statements are phrases which have been used in our Islamic history from many centuries ago

              إندحَّ بطنه إندحاحاّ اي إتّسع
His tummy became round and bigger.

              In Prophet Muhammad’s Hadith
كان لأسامة بطننٌ مُندحٌ اي متسع
Osama had a round and big tummy.
              و بطنٌ مُنداحُ أي خارخٌ مُدوّر
His tummy is mun-daahun means it is OUT THERE AND ROUND مُدوّر.

              و رجلٌّ دحدحُ اي قصير غليظ البطن
A man is dahda-hun which means he is short, stocky and has a big and fat tummy.

              الدحداح هو المستدير الململم
The dahdaah is the person who is ROUND and STOCKY.

الدِردِحة من النساء التي طولها و عرضها سواء
Al-dir-dihati from the women is the one whose height and width look the same! SHE LOOKS ROUND,and the by the way, the distance between the earth’s north and south poles is approximately only 45 miles shorter than the earth’s width.
              Ustadh

              (Teacher)

              Nouman Ali Khan

says about this ayah in his Tafseer

              (35 minutes );

              The word;

Daha - Dahwa - the egg of an Ostrich.

Ud-hiyyah - the place where the ostrich lays its egg.

So some have said that because there is an implication of Daha being something similar (like an ostrich’s egg) and Allah has used this word - it is possible that it has this implication in it. And Allah knows best.

Here is a relevant excerpt

Now, the very first expression in the series, dahâhâ, is noticeably distinctive and different in genre from the rest. Watt, following many other previous translators, renders it as “spread out”. But the exact and correct meaning of the term, keeping in view its root, rather provides a very positive Qur'anic evidence in support of the spherical shape of the earth. For dahâ means to “shape like an egg”, its noun being dahiyah, which the Arabs still use to mean an egg.

              Conclusion

So based on all of these meanings, what do we find?

              We find that

1- The earth is a moving object that waspushed or thrown by Allah Almighty into space.

2- The earth is a qurs and indahhat and is dihdaaha, which means it is around and a spherical object.

3- The earth is mad-hooha ( مدحوحا), which is balanced and evened.

4- The earth is dihya, which means it isthe best among its group. This is true since all of the planets in our solar system are pretty much similar to our moon. They are lifeless and have no life and no water in them. Earth, on the other hand, has (1)ample water, which is why it is called the BLUE PLANET, (2)ample life, and even(3) Paradise-like views and nature in places such as Hawaii, Alaska, the Carribeans, places in Europe, Asia, Africa etc…

5- The earth is also dahdah and dahdaah, which means it is round and compressed.

All these meanings are covered in one word; Daha.

              وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا

And the Earth after that He

                  "Rotating sphere

                  Quran 395

Created the heavens and the Earth in truth. He overlaps the night over the day and overlaps the day over the night, and enslaved the sun and the moon. ALL MOVE to a prerecorded destiny. Is He not the Exalted, the Forgiver?

So you are trying desperately at the expense anything.. Why brother... Why... Don't you like truth..
Do you say here night and day mebtioned along with sun and moon to kullu yajree perfect fits if you add earth to it.. Since night and day is on earth.. How silly..
Kullu means each as well.. I don't see any flaw in Arabic here..

If it is acceptable then explain below verse..

132 "..... He established Himself above the Throne and made subject the sun and the moon, each (kullu) running (Yajree) for a specified term.

Above verse has no night no day.. Just two objects sun and moon.. Kullu yajree.
You should feel shameful yo make mistakes in this manner and indirect claims quran is in error to claim your desperate effort... How come kullu yajree here two and in the verse you refer you intently from your hallucinating whim you add Earth into it so that it makes more happy feeling to you..
                  Nonsensical...

The below image shows the translation of the same verse from a different source ( Al-Quran.info ).

                    image

For your confirmation of this word you can refer to the figures below which shows the translation of the word ball in english and arabic using Google Translator.

                    image
                    Figure 3.1

Arabic translation of the word Ball

                    image

English text of Ar-Rahman verse 33

                    Source Quran.com

Keep note of the highlighted text

This aayah states that if humans and jinns can pass beyond the regions ( diameter ) of the earth and the heavens then they cannot pass except by authority of Allah.

The highlighted word أَقطارِ (aqtar) has been translated to regions in Quran.com which is not the actuall meaning of it. Also, different scholars have used different word for أَقطارِ (aqtar).

The word أَقطارِ (aqtar) is the plural of the word (Kutr) قطر which is the arabic word for Diameter. For confirmation refer the below figures ( 5.1 and 5.2 ).

                    image
                    Figure 5.1

English translation of word قطر (Kutr)

                    Figure 5.2

English translation of word أَقطارِ (aqtar)

                    Source Google Translator

                    Dahaha = Daha + ha

                    دحاها = دحا + ها

Root verb is دحو / دحا

                    Pronoun- ها

There are a lot of meanings of Daha ( دَحَا )

                    1st General Meaning
                    Daha

                    دفعه و رمى به
                    dafa'aahu wa ramaa bih
Caused it to Move, pushed it, Rolled, or Threw it.
                    i.e دُحُورًاۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ-

                    2nd Meaning

                    Dahaa = Round and Spherical

The following statements are phrases which have been used in our Islamic history from many centuries ago

                    إندحَّ بطنه إندحاحاّ اي إتّسع
His tummy became round and bigger.

                    In Prophet Muhammad’s Hadith
كان لأسامة بطننٌ مُندحٌ اي متسع
Osama had a round and big tummy.
                    و بطنٌ مُنداحُ أي خارخٌ مُدوّر
His tummy is mun-daahun means it is OUT THERE AND ROUND مُدوّر.

                    و رجلٌّ دحدحُ اي قصير غليظ البطن
A man is dahda-hun which means he is short, stocky and has a big and fat tummy.

                    الدحداح هو المستدير الململم
The dahdaah is the person who is ROUND and STOCKY.

الدِردِحة من النساء التي طولها و عرضها سواء
Al-dir-dihati from the women is the one whose height and width look the same! SHE LOOKS ROUND,and the by the way, the distance between the earth’s north and south poles is approximately only 45 miles shorter than the earth’s width.
                    Ustadh

                    (Teacher)

                    Nouman Ali Khan

says about this ayah in his Tafseer

                    (35 minutes );

                    The word;

And the Earth after that He

                    made round/balanced/made best/exalted

                    it."

ROLLING THE NIGHT OVER THE DAY

5- He created the heavens and the earth truthfully.
He rolls the night over the day, and rolls the day over the night…
                    39-The Throngs, 5

The Arabic word for “roll” is “yukevviru.” The word is used to describe the act of wrapping a turban around someone’s head. This word was also used in the sense of overlapping of the night and day and vice versa. The reason for the day’s turning into night and the night’s turning into day is due to the spheroid form of the earth. In this verse also we observe implied the sphericity of the world.

                    And;

"In addition to 1886, they claim that 7119, which says that God made the earth an expanse (wallahu ja'ala lakumu l-arda bisatan), implies a flat earth. However, the word bisatan means expanse, not flat. They apparently were asleep in kindergarten when the teacher went over shapes and sizes. Flat is a shape. Expansive is a size. For example, a piece of paper is flat, but not expansive. The earth is expansive, but not flat. They make the same mistake in translating and interpreting 5148, which says that God made the earth expansive (farashnaha).

Curiously, they even cite 7930 as evidence that the Quran says the earth is flat, even though it says the exact opposite (that the earth is shperical). 7930 says, according to them, "and the earth, after that, He flattened it, and/or, and the earth, after that, He made it flat" (wa l-arda ba'da dhalika dahaha). They claim the word daha comes from the root for an Arabian ostrich's nest (madahy). According to them, the (now extinct) Arabian ostrich would flatten the ground before it layed it's eggs. Thus, they claim that dahaha means that He (God) flattened the earth like an Arabian ostrich flattens the ground before laying its eggs. However, the linguist, Prof. Martha Schulte-Nafeh, points out in her translation that the word daha also comes from the same root for the ostrich egg itself (dahyah). She points out that in the Libyan dialect, they still sometimes use the word dahyah for egg in addition to the more frequently used word baydah. Thus, she translates dahaha as "He made it egg-shaped". Now, take a look at this painting of an Arabian ostrich's nest from al-Jahiz's 9th century book on animals, "kitab al-hayawan"

                    http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabian_Ostrich

Does the nest (madahy) look "flat" to you? The eggs (dahy) do look spherical to me, though. In addition to implying that the earth is spherical like an ostrich's egg, when the Quran talks about the night following the day and the day following the night in 395, it uses the verb yukawiru. Yukawiru comes from the KWR root, which means to roll or become round/spherical. The Arabic word for sphere, kurah, is derived from the same root.

As for the notion that "Muslim apologists" only recently started interpreting the Quran as saying the earth is round, the 9th century Quran commentator al-Jubba'i interpreted it this way in his now lost commentary. The 11th century scholar, ibn Hazm, interpreted it this way in his book "al-fisal fi l-milal wa l-nihal". And The 12th centery Quran commentator, ar-Razi, also interpreted it this way.

In addition to the aforementioned Muslim scholars, other Muslim scholars also believed the earth was ROUND

"Muslim scholars who held to the round Earth theory used it for a quintessentially Islamic purpose to calculate the distance and direction from any given point on the Earth to Makkah (Mecca). This determined the Qibla, or Muslim direction of prayer.

"A terrestrial globe (Kura-i-ard) was among the presents sent by the Persian Muslim astronomer Jamal-al-Din to Kubla Khan in 1267. It was made of wood on which "seven parts of water are represented in green, three parts of land in white, with rivers, lakes etc." Ho Peng Yoke remarks that "it did not seem to have any general appeal to the Chinese in those days"."

                    http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S...

Because Muslim scholars had to calculate the qibla on a ROUND earth, they practically invented spherical geometry

"Muslims, according to Carra de Vaux, were "unquestionably the inventors of plane and spherical geometry, which did not, strictly speaking, exist among the Greeks". The book of unknown arcs of a sphere written by Islamic mathematician Al-Jayyani is considered to be the first treatise on spherical trigonometry. The book contains formulae for right-handed triangles, the general law of sines, and the solution of a spherical triangle by means of the polar triangle.

"The book On Triangles by Regiomontanus, written around 1463, is the first pure trigonometrical work in Europe. However, Gerolamo Cardano noted a century later that much of the material there on spherical trigonometry was taken from the twelfth-century work of the Spanish Islamic scholar Jabir ibn Aflah."

                    http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spherical_Earth#Islamic_world

I should also point out that the Muslim scholar, al-Biruni, calculated the circumference of the ROUND earth in the 11th century. And the Muslim scholar, Ali Qushji, asserted that this ROUND earth was rotating in the 15th century. And here's a painting of Ottoman Muslim scholars studying a ROUND earth in the 16th century

Indeed, within the heavens and earth are signs for the believers.

The above verse 4503 and such similar verses always reminded me that we need to know the truth of Heavens /skies and Earth within nature...
God stated SIGNS in HEAVEANS and EARTH for BELIEVERS.. .. I always wondered how can one peeceive and know the SIGNS in the Samawathi and Ard (skies and Earth) if he doesn't know what actually they both are... What SIGNS one would get if the whole creation is a lie.. Believing that a star is 2000 times bigger than our Sun and sun is 400 times bigger than moon... Is that a sign for a believer? Signs are not signs for believers unless believer figure out what God's creature is... Unless you know what earth and skies are how come you find signs in it?
Unless a believer study the nature of God's creations.. He would never get the signs... I don't mind if the verse says there are signs in the heavens and earth for those who are intelligent but God used the word believers at the end..
It seems real believers are intelligent to perceive what God created be it now in modern era or in ancient time.. They OR we all living in same earth ...

                          Salam jkhan,

                          1. Watch a ship sail off to sea
Without being in the sky, it is impossible to see the curvature of the Earth. However, you can always see a demonstration of this if you visit a harbor or any place with a wide-open view of the water.
If you are able to watch a ship sail off to sea, watch its mast and flag as it fades off into the distance. You will notice that, in fact, it does not "fade off into the distance" at all; instead, you will see its mast and flag appear to slowly sink. The ship sailed beyond the point at which you would see it. Just to be sure, bring a pair of binoculars with you so that you can see even farther off into the distance.
It's as if you're watching it go over to the other side of a hill. This phenomenon can only be explained by a sphere-shaped planet.

above is the best explanation of the Globe Earthers.. All scientists say the same..
Let me ask those who are open and rational in their reflection…
Have you ever witnessed a ship sailing and disappear at the horizon? Perhaps most of you..
The possible distance that you see with your naked eye roughly 5kms.. First you see the mast disappear and the flag… BUT have you ever noticed how long it takes it to disappear? I saw a huge ship perhaps 7 floors in it and it reached to the extreme horizon to our naked eye… Then it took only one minute to disappear from my eyes.. Approximately ship may be 100 feet since it had 7 floors… So my coherent question to all those use their own wits is how can such a tall ship disappear that quickly coz of curvature of the earth?
Suppose if you see a man in a 50 feet hill and if he goes down from the hill to other side, first you will see his legs disappear and up until his hips and shoulder and head…it depends on how steep/slope the hill is? If the hill is 45 degree from all angel you will see him disappear so fast if he walk in normal pace…

So apply the same logic for ship and horizon? How can such a tall ship disappear for the reason of curvature of the earth which is just at the distance of 5 kms? So at 5 km distance we see 100 feet slop / steep or rather curvature? That’s total rubbish.. (Coz science say only 8 inches for every mile).. contrary to that if such a slope is there at 5 km distance, then if you look at the area where ship disappeared from an altitude you should inevitably observe a big steep/slope ..

So it is obvious it is not the reason of curvature but it is the maximum distance in which objects (moving/ship) disappear for naked eye..

If the disappearance is due to maximum distance for naked eye, then when using binoculars one should be able to see again what has disappeared in case the earth is flat.

If the disappearance is due to curvature, then using binoculars will not help.

Well.. You have not researched enough to raise this question... Otherwise you wouldn't have raised.. Binoculars are nothing.. Thanks to latest technology we can see moving objects at the horizon even after it dissapeared it appears.. Such cameras are real worth buying dude.. I wish I have one now.. Lol..
Note well.. The naked eye and latest technology of lenses of cameras are not different.. Camera catches same as what our eye sight.. For example for our sight street light poles seems to be touching floor at the diatance..even camera catches the same.. Though it is not our eye sight.. But they are powerful than our eyesight.. That's why they even catch the vanished object again in horizon.. But nothing can catch beyond a limit.. Coz natural eyesight and camera technology is same.. Let's hope they develop further so that we catch objects which are dissapeared 10 minutes before also visible.. But for your question there is definitely cameras which captures objects that dissapeared in horizon already to naked eyes from the same altitude..
Thank you.. Hope you reflect upon it..

3640 'The sun cannot eclipse the moon, nor can (the darkness of) night take precedence over (the light of) day. They all revolve fluidly.'

Translations of this verse have not been interpreted with the knowledge of science that we have discovered since the revelation of The Quran. Trying to use Classical Arabic to synthesise or hypothesise a novel 'truth' in a prosaic fashion is a recipe for going astray.

The entire verse is consistent with known scientific principles.

                                    1. The word root 'daraka' is translated as catching up or overtaking. If one understands this correctly then it is simply saying that the sun is not the moving element in the solar system. It does not pass between the moon and the earth in effect 'overtaking' it so this tells us that the moon is orbiting the earth and the sun can never eclipse the moon. There is a miraculous element in this in that it states the observable facts correctly since the moon can eclipse the sun but not vice versa.

                                    2. The word root 'sabaqa' also has a sense of outrunning but here it means precedence. This is telling us that there is no such thing as 'darkness' which is simply the absence of light. One side of the earth facing away from the sun is dark and the other facing the sun is light, neither can move over the other telling us that the position of the sun again is the fixed element. The 'edges' of the light and darkness are phenomena associated with illumination from one direction.

                                    3. The word root 'falaka' (note its similarity to 'falaqa' which is daybreak or dawn) has the sense of 'orbit' and I have translated as revolving as that is what each celestial structure is known to do. The earth revolves on its axis and around the sun. The moon revolves in a tidal lock facing the earth (so we see one face of it perpetually) and yet orbits around the earth. The sun revolves also and orbits the galactic centre which in turn is attached to its cluster and so on.

                                    4. The word root 'sabaha' indicates that the motion is all fluid and happens without undue perturbances and is effectively only perceptible to us by its effects on light and what we see rather than movement that we can feel.

                                      Thank you..
I have not seen anyone translating it as ECLIPSE.. i don't mind you translated it.. but my point is not in translation ... my point is how it befit to Universe and Solar system according to Science..

Suppose if you are convinced that the verse says it is eclipse let me know kindly... According to science will Sun ever come in between Earth and Moon ... you may say .. yes that's what Quran says Sun cannot eclipse the Moon.. But is it worth saying? Even sun comes in between Earth and and Moon, do you think it can eclipse Moon while the size of the sun is 400 times bigger than moon according to science.. So the word Eclipse in my understanding doesn't befit.. But I am happy with all the translations traditionally translated ... But according to science it never befits...So my understanding of stationary earth still befits for myself within Quran.. Coz sun and moon floating in its orbit in the midst of Sky... and both sun and moon are placed in the midst of sky... not 93 million miles away from moon...
                                      thank you brother

                                        Peace to you also,

My translation was in keeping with both the sense of the root words and our understanding of solar system mechanics through science (in which I am a believer in a heliocentric system with a round earth that manifests the signs mentioned in the verse).

Your position is problematic in that the 'facts' which you appear to accept such as the sun being 400 times bigger and being 93 million miles (ie. 400 times) further away than the moon are stated without qualification as to why you accept them or how you know them to be true?

Does the Quran mention that the sun is 400 times bigger or 400 times further away than the moon?

How do you know these things? Why do you accept them as true? Is it a case of pick and choose?

The sun being 400 times bigger than the moon or 400 times further away would not have been obvious to someone 1400 years ago. They could not measure the distances or have known that the sun could never ever come between the earth and the moon (they thought it could split in two and fall into someone's backyard!). Today we do know that it cannot, and it accords with The Quran as I have translated it here so again it is an example of 'out of place' scientific knowledge. So it is like other such facts which have later been discovered to be consistent with scientific knowledge, which is a manifestation of a miracle in its own right.

                                        Salam...

Coz sun and moon floating in its orbit in the midst of Sky... and both sun and moon are placed in the midst of sky... not 93 million miles away from moon...
                                        thank you brother

quite strange... I don't mind what you believe ... it is between you and your Lord.. thing is whether God accept or not or God created what you say or not...

anyway dude.. If Sun is not 400 times bigger than Moon and not 93 million miles away from us or for that matter from Moon, HOW ACCORDING TO SCIENCE FULL SOLAR ECLIPSE DO OCCUR? either believe in science or believe in Quran fully... taking from both partially won't work out... don't feel bad for what i say... but that's what i get from your reply...
                                          thank you.. God guide us..
