What does 'islam' mean to you?

Peace be upon you Sawtooth,
Please list some values you hold dear from life experience, if you do not object. Then we can , just as an exercise, see if this reading(quran) holds the same values.
Due to the mass of conversations surrounding this particular thread, I would be happy to do my best to put into words, at least in part, my personal philosophies and how I came by them. I will start a new thread after I have given some thought as to HOW to explain it all. I have tried in the past, mostly for school, a few times in a vain attempt to write a book, and I have always found it incredibly difficult to put into words what I know in my heart. Kind of like telling a loved one WHY you love them. It just cannot always be expressed as you feel it. Give me some time on this one. Christmas is a big deal in my family and consuming much of my time and mind, but I look forward to a proper discussion
-
Good example, but cant you see its that "subliminal affrimation" that "one visit wont kill me" that added up to one visit + one visit + one visit, etc
You see, if we take EACH DECISION as a great event, then I would be less likely to treat "only one time" so carelessly.
The reality is that each time I put icecream into my mouth, I was getting a small effect each time.
Kyle, that's what taqwa's all about, man. Being mindful of Allah, its not the easiet thing in the world. Look at the behaviour of 'alladhina ittaqa'
For those who practise taqwa, when part of ash-shaitaan touches them, they call to rememberance and thus become insightful (7/203)
If you stick your hand in fire , how long before you are judged?
Instantaneously. But for the events which are mentioned in al-quraan, there's an ajl or delay period involved.

Of course. I enjoy these discussions and by no means am trying to pressure you. We are all human beings in the world trying to seek our essence in the best manner.

Peace,
Do apologise for this belated reply.
OBVIOUSLY, speaking for myself and no need to guess. Quran never created the NATURE but the NATURE CREATED THE QURAN, thus everything written in the Quran is by virtue of NATURE. Comprende!!!
Thanks you for making my point, that is what the Quran calls atheism in Arabic is "Kufr", now I'm not saying you are, I'm just saying what you say is
Absolutely rubbish! Anyone (including Muslims) believing in NATURE does NOT mean atheism or ?kufr?. Where did you learn that from? Where in the Quran does it mention that whosoever believes in NATURE is known as ?kufr??
In effect, you are miserably side-tracked. Stay focused.
well, me or you?, you say that the Quran is written by nature and that is the most funniest thing I have ever heard, who needs to be focused here?, well I'm always focused and I never dodge a comment when I'm cornered, remeber Al Salatu Al Wusta lol
Obviously YOU, since you got sidetracked right from your very first post to me by infusing stuff other than what is talked about and twisting my words. Clearly you didn?t comprehend what is being said, hence I?ll paraphrase
EVERYTHING mentioned in the Quran HAS been the result of exactly what NATURE has called for and NOT the other way around.
If there were no religions, no ?idol-worships?, no ?son of GOD? beliefs, no sins, prohibitions, limitations, etc., what would be the purpose of mentioning them in the Quran? Heck, if YOU didn?t exist, YOU wouldn?t have the Quran to begin with? NATURE speaks for itself, hence the Quran.
As far as 'salaat al wusta' is concerned, this is not the appropriate thread. Read my posts on that topic in that section to give you an idea of what I understand it to mean. No need to sidetrack and be focused on subject at hand, i.e. NATURE and QURAN.

lol
There is no nature word in the Quran, that is a tough challenge
I'm just member of the crowd now
peace

Mquran and AhmedBahgat,
Answer the questions to my previous posts? No need to deviate and sidetrack each time I bring about a post and start asking questions without answering. This sort of tactics has become quite common around here, especially when people talk and boast a lot and listen less.
Now, are you guys so dense and ignorant to what is being said or do you prefer playing games? I can be very good at tit-for-tat dialogues. I will mention this once again and contemplate on what is being said

Danish
I'm not going to answer your question due to the following
- either I'm dumb or
- your question is stupid
I'm a member of the crowd now, you can take the stand mquran
peace

Danish, 'nature' hasn't called for anything because nature by itself is an ayaat. Your assumptions are against al-quraan and its no longer your criterion
EVERYTHING mentioned in the Quran HAS been the result of exactly what NATURE has called for and NOT the other way around.
Allah is 'khaliqu as-samawaati wal ardh/evolver of the heavens and the earth' , not nature. Everything tends towards Allah and so the above statement can't be proven either way.

Whether the word 'nature' is in the Quran or not, and whether Allah is evolver of the heavens and the earth or not, what has this got to do with my statement above? Why do you and Ahmed consistently deviate from what is being said? Let me make it simpler by requesting you to answer just a few simple questions, without dodging
Why and what made the Quran revealed?
What is the purpose of the Quran?Once you answer the above questions, reflect on my statement again
EVERYTHING mentioned in the Quran HAS been the result of exactly what NATURE has called for and NOT the other way around. If you still can't contemplate, then as "sawtooth" put it quite bluntly
And which came first, the chicken or the egg wink

What it has to do with your statement is, its renders it meaningless because al-quraan has no word for nature (arabic tabii). Therefore, there's no way to check al-quraan for the answer. Obviously , if you wish to step outside its bounds, you're most welcome to.

Please let me know WHO is asking for the word 'nature' to be found in the Quran? Besides, you dodged my questions again. This shows your inability to understand what is being discussed. Let's have it mquran.

I'M asking for the word to be there It's a MUST for me because to me, al-quraan is an accurate book which you can't play around with. If the word isnt there, the statement cannot be proven unless you deconstruct what 'nature' is.

My statement still holds irrelevant of whether the word 'nature' is found in the Quran or not. I've asked you and Ahmed several questions by now, right from my very first post, and you keep ignoring and dodging them, Why?
The moderators must concede the inapproprateness of such discussion that eventually gets out-of-control leading to disagreements and disharmony. Ahmed has voluntarily disarmed himself from answering and this effect has taken its toll on you and others. Why indulge yourself in frivilous discussions when you guys can't put up with it?

Well, if you think its not relevant, then that's your personal affair. I take al-quraan very seriously and feel it must speak of everything relevant to my life.

I contend that its you who can't accept the fact that al-quraan has nothing to do with your views. It doesn't even have the word you need to justify your views. If you can't handle this fact, no amount of taunting will help, sorry.

Well, if you think its not relevant, then that's your personal affair. I take al-quraan very seriously and feel it must speak of everything relevant to my life.
It is essentially the personal affair of everyone and everything that exists in nature (which includes events, stories, creatures, forces, processes, characteristics, phenomenon, etc., etc.) without which the Quran wouldn?t exist. You can?t seem to adhere to simple rules of discussions and basic comprehension seriously, then to talk about Quran relevant to your life for crying out loud.

And I profess that it is obviously you who cannot accept the fact that I am not even talking about the word ?nature? being mentioned in the Quran or not, yet you keep on bragging about it since you've nothing else to add nor prepared to answer my questions. It has nothing whatsoever to do with discussion and my statement at hand. Nice try.
Quran mentions stories/events that took place in nature. Such stories/events MUST have happened in real life/nature BEFORE the Quran was revealed?
Quran conforms to restrictions, limitations, commands, etc., for all mankind to obey, reflect, reason and follow that MUST have had its effects on events that HAPPENED in nature. Quran cannot possibly be enforcing such conformities without them; else it cannot possibly be true, let alone GOD?s Words.
Quran was revealed some 1400 years ago, before which it never existed. Judaism and Christianity existed before the Quran was revealed, hence the mentioning of those religions. My irrefutable statement must hold. There?s no possible way out for you or anyone else regardless of your deviations, sidetracking and dodging around

Is this what 'nature' means in normative terms? Kinldy provide an etymology for 'nature'.

No, you're talking not about the word nature, correct. I am talking about the word. I challenge your use of it because it's not a Quranic word. Can you understand this please? If you cannot, then do say so and I will rephrase.
Quran mentions stories/events that took place in nature. Such stories/events MUST have happened in real life/nature BEFORE the Quran was revealed?
So now , is the word 'life' or 'nature' ? Would you mind getting your terms straight please?
Quran conforms to restrictions, limitations, commands, etc., for all mankind to obey, reflect, reason and follow that MUST have had its effects on events that HAPPENED in nature. Quran cannot possibly be enforcing such conformities without them; else it cannot possibly be true, let alone GODs Words
Then the word cannot be nature. Once again, look at the etymology of 'nature'.
Quran was revealed some 1400 years ago, before which it never existed. Judaism and Christianity existed before the Quran was revealed, hence the mentioning of those religions.
Al-quran never mentions judaism or christianity. Please try to actually study al-quraan before putting out false information about it.
EVERYTHING mentioned in the Quran HAS been the result of exactly what NATURE has called for and NOT the other way around.
'Nature' as you have defined it , never called for anything. Al-quraan speaks of Allah, not of nature being al-qaadir.

Please provide evidence of the word 'normative' and 'etymology' in the Quran?

Then who are the ones that said "Son of GOD" in 930?
