What does the Quran say about

    1. Sperm/egg donations
    2. Sex with animals
    3. A man/woman marrying an intersex
    4. Destroying embryos for research proposes
    5. being cruel to animals
    6. Killing an abortion doctor (technically speaking an abortion doctor is a mass murderer)
    7. Having a sex change
    8. Killing insects/spiders for fun
    9. Fox hunting / Bull fighting
    10. Wrestling / Boxing / violent sports
    11. If you were in a life and death situation and nearly starved to death is it permissible to eat a dead body?
    12. In emergency situation give a member of the opposite sex a mouth-to-mouth
    13. Tell a white lie as long as it does not harm anyone
    14. Leave your inheritance money to your pet
    15. If someone threatens to kill you if you do not get involved in an illicit sexual activity they tell you to participate in, is it better to die or go along with it?
    16. Breast implants / Penis enlargement
    17. Plastic surgery in general
    18. "Self-harm" as a way of coping with problems
    19. Hugging a member of the opposite sex
    20. Showing a doctor (who is not the same sex as you) an excess amount of flesh for medical reasons.

      Peace "angel",
Ill start off with no.4 i.e. the embryo issue. The Quran says
2314 Then we developed the drop into a hanging (embryo), then developed the hanging (embryo) into a bite-size (fetus), then created the bite-size (fetus) into bones, then covered the bones with flesh. We then produce a new creature. Most blessed is GOD, the best Creator.
This is one verse which makes it clear that at the ambryonic stage it is not a human yet, merely cells and those maybe used for research. Id say we fix the standards that the human embryo cannot be aborted anymore once the brain has started functioning and the heart beating. That would be a goo definition in my opinion and would ultimately satisfy everyone. I dont like people preventing stem cell research because of their not understanding the issue properly. Also please read this article
      http//www.yuksel.org/e/religion/unorthodox.htm#ABORTION
      GOD Bless!

JK- I havnt found anything in the Quran prohibiting this especially no 12. Infact the Quran says
Because of this, we decreed for the Children of Israel that anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people. And anyone who spares a life, it shall be as if he spared the lives of all the people. Our messengers went to them with clear proofs and revelations, but most of them, after all this, are still transgressing.
However if someone lies about GOD and His Words and His messengers, without being threatened, then it is a gross sin even if someone does not get hurt immediately. GOD Bless!

Thank you for your input Bro JK, I really appreciated it. )

I still feel uncomfortable with No.4, especially when the benefits of researching in that particular area appears to be exaggerated.

As for No.13 the context I meant it in was when a friend asks ?does my bum look big in this dress? and it does but I say ?no? coz I don?t wanna hurt her feelings.

There?s also one more thing I would like to add to that list.

          1. In scientific research often animals are tested in the most abhorrent ways yuck i.e. Karl Lashley burning the brains of rats just to see where their memories are placed (that pig should burn his own brain if he is so desperate to find out where abouts the memory is placed >). And experiments like blind-folding new born kittens for days to test to see what their vision would be like once the blind-fold is taken off (and the cats end up being blind for life '(). I find such experiments gut-wrenching and futile. Does the Quran condemn something like that? confused

          peace

JK- "I(Satan) will mislead them, I will entice them, I will command them to slit/cut/mark the ears of livestock, and I will command them to distort the creation of GOD." Anyone who accepts the devil as a lord, instead of GOD, has incurred a profound loss.
Now there can be various understandings of this verse but as i understand it refers to someone without any intention of reasearch destroys or damages GOD's creation in nature. I do not agree with genetical manipulated food either. Experiments on animals if theyr done for research for betterment of the human beings maybe done in the lab though but i agree this is a tough cookie. GOD Bless!

The Quran advocates scientific research, but Lashley burning the brains of rats to try and find out where their memory lies is something I find ghastly , I find something like that pointless since I?m not that desperate to find out the location of the memory, is something as appalling as that condoned in Islam?

JK- No i dont beleive it is condoned by the Quran especially in light of the above verse. Anyways this example of the rat was first stated to me by bro Arnold which he used to explain to me that everything is saved in the quantum fiield ultimately. If thats true then the ofcourse the afterlife ohenomena becomes drastically more probable which inturn proves the Quran to be true once more. GOD Bless!

                  Yep, that was the experiment.

Regardless of how amazing/exciting the results were, unethical experiments like that should not be conducted >. Unless Lashley wants to experiment with his own brain .

I guess this verse also answers No. 16 & 17. handshake

Not necessarily 17. There is a lot of plastic surgery that goes into correcting damage caused in accidents, fires, torture, etc..

A plastic surgeon attempting to make another persons life easier by restoring a person who has been damaged or burnt to their rightful selves is doing good.

Plastic surgery for vanities sake, probably not so much..

Can I assume you have read AQ and did not find the answers to your questions therein?

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Yes Wakas, i?ve read AQ several times and I could not find the answer to those questions.

Nurd I meant plastic surgery to change the way you look and not for correcting damage. I apologize for the misunderstanding handshake

                            peace,

When you read AQ, did you come across an order such as

                            (1st verse) In situation A, do B.
                            (2nd verse) In situation C, do D.
                            (3rd verse) In situation E, do F.

If not, then perhaps the answer was between the lines. In what could be termed the "hikma/wisdom/judgement" part of the book. I suggest you look for your answers within this part.

                              Salaam,

I don?t see the forum as some kind of substitute for studying AQ. I only posted them Q?s because I could not find them after thoroughly researching the Quran.

This thread does not belong in this section; can you please move it to the Quranic divinity section?

                              Thanks.

I'm not a moderator, but this thread still fits into this section, it's still a question about the Quran.

Now onto your "fully detailed" remark. Not all of the things you list matter as far as God is concerned. If you want to know if something is allowed or disallowed in the Quran then, as you did, look it up, take a few broad stances concerning some passages, and if nothing fits, then it's up to you to make the best decision.

The Quran is fully detailed on the items that will bring you closer to god, and the items that will lead you down the wrong path. Everything else is up to us to make our own best judgement using our God-given free will.

I disagree this thread belongs to the Quranic divinity section. I wish I put it their in the first place.

What is it with the mods on this forum ???; can?t you do a simple task? This is ?free-minds? remember? Sometimes I think it is ?closed minds?.

Not naming anybody, but sometimes I think some of the posters only post to show how smart they are as opposed to passionately trying to derive the ?correct meaning? of al-quran.

                                        Ok?. rant over?.

                                        Please move the thread.

                                        Cheers.

Why is it closed minds if a mod didn't move your thread to another section you requested? Not all the mods read all of the threads, if there is a pressing need for assistance, please PM, otherwise it might take some time.
