    Salam,

That sounds like a very sad situation. They wanted to fill the gaps in the Quran to make laws? so the Quran is not complete or perfect?

They made up their own laws and fabricated Hadith! is there any verse that tells us that it's ok to make up our own laws?

It is precisely the knowledge that people made up (beyond God's words) that made sects and lots of problems. Is there any reason why we shouldn't just stick to exactly what the Quran says?

      Salam.

"These are God's revelations that We recite to you truthfully. In which Hadith other than God and His revelations do they believe?" 456

"Shall I seek other than God as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed?" 6114

"The word of your Lord is complete in truth and justice" 6115

"A.L.R. This is a book whose verses have been perfected" 111

I believe that these verses alone speak volumes and they are enough for a believer who uses his brains on daily basis. We all have brains and we all use them. Thank God.

May The Exalted God AllMighty, AllPowerful, The Most Merciful, The Most Powerful, The Most Just, The Most High, The Most Wise, The All Knowing Creator, The Lord of the universe and all the worlds, protects us from all evil and especially the devil, gives us the best health, installs peace in our bodies and hearts, gives us lots of patience and guides us on the Straight Path to Paradise.

May The God Almighty forgives us all our sins and guide us on the Right Path to Heaven.

      Peace.

Has anybody in their excitement asked if these laws are actually workable, just and logical? Some of the talibans laws were similar to the literal quran as well.....

You mean their punishment, not their laws. When the punishment is removed from the devine law and applied to a hadith/islamic law, it is no more qur'aanic.

But the taliban would say they are following the quran would they not? Those applying dictionaries/ opinions to intepret the quran are little different in method to those who apply hadith to the quran.....

I meant capital punishment and lashing are used but not for cases mentioned in the qur'aan. Capital punishment is restricted to "corruption in the earth fasaad fil arDh", but is used for apostasy, fornication, ...etc; and lashing "restricted in the qur'aan for public fornication and spreading false rumors" is applied for not wearing the veil, wearing jeans ;D, not joining in for prayers and many other trivial things

We are talking about paying Jizya, polygamy, inheritance, women's testimony, cutting hand of thief, etc.
