Well, one will receive whatever amount of bad stuff he did as punishment in the afterlife.

But I refuse to let fear dictate my actions.

      Your actions dictate your afterlife.

If God is truly a vindictive, sadistic torturer - I still refuse to bow down to him.

If GOD wants you to bow down to him, there's nothing you can do about it. Oh yes, you will bow down. hail But the God doesn't want or need anything. )

I prefer to stand against something I find detestable - even over my own salvation.

      Hehe...

Peace be with you... or do you find peace detestable as well? ;D

Actually religion is a load of thrash but Islam is not a religion. infact it came to educate and warn about religions. study closely the qur'an and refer back to where God said (the number of months are 12 and that is DEEN). this means DEEN is SYSTEM. do no confuse them because of the hate you have for religion.Believe me, all those inclined to reason do.
What caused Moses to cross the Red sea with his people was to escape the persecution of religion.Remember after the crossing, he told them to feel free and do as they wished but not to take up any Gods as their Gods, but no sooner had he left them, they took to worshipping something which he grew annoyed when he returned.
Religion has been the creation of Satanic minds from the beginning, and God has continously sent his messengers to defy it.

Its really not relevant since we are arguing over things we have never seen and can never relate to. How do we know God is a torturer when we still have not seen that in action. We think we understand by reading the Koran but in reality its only words and how WE understand them.

If we look at this world, how can a torturer create flowers, birds, butterflies, trees and puppies. How can a torturer crest the love a mother has for a child and the sense of humor we all have. How can he creat giggling and laughing and joy.

So we must also understand that this life is just a hint of God. There is happiness but pain, there is laughter and tears, there is fortune and misfortune. The Koran itself tells us that.

However we then make the mistake of trying to understand God by what we see and know and experienec in this life on Earth. However our solar system rotates around a star knows as our sun. It islocated in the milky way, our galaxy. There are somewhere like 40 billion stars in our galaxy, the milky way. theer are over 140 billion galaxies in the known universe. Eash with tens of billions of stars. How can we understand the Creator by being on Earth? How can we envision hell or heaven when we have such limited, in fact meaningless knowledge and exposure.

Ther used to be a school in Islam knows as the Mu'tazilites. They used to believe the Koran is created and not God's words They said that God does not have a lnguage or a concept we understand. The Koran is created for human concumption by God. Of course the Mu'tazilites were too philisophical for the Arab mind and the traditionalist were more popular. But maybe we should revisit the Mu'tazilite thinking. hmm

Quite - but he will have to force me - coz if he is a sadistic, cruel tyrant - I aint doing it willingly.

Do you really think that such a sadistic God exists - like some cartoon bad guy - who forces his minions to do his bidding while he laughs madly "Muwahahahaha!"???

If it is true - then fine - but I ain't going willingly - that's for sure.

Personally I don't for one minute think that such a God exists.

            I do believe God exists.

But I don't believe he is a sadiistic cruel monster. Nor do I think he is interested in forcing anyone to bow down to him.

            Peace )

              Salam.

Fear is not dictating your actions.
You decide whether you will be afraid, happy, bad or good.
The God is not vindictive, sadistic torturer - He wants to show you a better life. Do you want it? It's up to you. Don't want it? Okay.

              Peace.

Ok so now he believes there is a God but not the God of the Koran. Since the God of the Koran is supposedly cruel.

The only similar think i hear is from Christians. Who then tell us that the God of the Bible is a loving God and does not rely on deeds but on love. Unlike the "Allah" hypno

I am actually less concerned about judgement day than this life. In judgement day everybody gets what he deserves, but here on earth,

So he is not going to punish me for choosing his 'better life'?

I have said I believe in God from the start.

I just don't believe in the concept of God described in the Qur'an.

I have been quite consistent in this.

So I don't understand what you are saying - (nor why you are talking to me in the third person???)

The Quranic principle is that everyone gets exactly what they deserve, no more, and no less. Hence, if you're correct and the form of punishment in the Quran is extreme, then few, if any people will undergo it.

                        Peace,

Yes I found that all religions except the system of Allah is crap.

I believe that we are here on earth as a test because of the sake of Adam and his mate. And the years we spend here are very few if concider the eterneties. So I think I will try my best to pass this test and dwell in comfortable places later Insha Allah.

Why whine and complain of some normal basic rules of living?

If we create a community according the role model of Abraham and uphold the truth from our Lord then we have shown that we are clever and deserves to enter the paradise.

We daily by free will put us to different kinds of test just to taste some adventure but the test from God seems to be such an boring and awful things for many people hmmm .

                        Peace

Tell me honestly - who would you prefer?

A religious freak like Jim Jones or David Koresh, who thinks God told him to kill people ?

Or a guy like me, who doesn't claim to hear God and simply does his best to be decent, kind and honest?

He didn't "think", he SAW God. Abraham had a very close relationship with God in the Quran, and he had clear signs.

Obviously not, unless he showed evidence. But it was his perception and his son, who consented, in fact, volunteered.

Do you mean why his life was relevant? I believe it's the moral stories and examples, over anything else.

As for me, Abraham's decision to kill his son just because he saw a dream like described was wrong, so God saved him from doing that mistake. God didn't command it.

I agree with the article http//www.free-minds.org/books/journey.htm

Scroll down to "CHAPTER 7 THE FALSEHOOD ABOUT ABRAHAM AND THE FALSE SACRIFICE OF HIS SON."

"But this was definitely NOT a commandment from God. It was just what Abraham saw in his sleep."

To me, it doesn't make sense that God commands such a thing that he has forbidden.

                                        May God Guide.

                                          Hey cosmicdancer,

If you are trying to peddle "Jesus is the way", just forget about it. It ain't going to work here.

                                          Yes.

But I refuse to let fear dictate my actions.

If God is truly a vindictive, sadistic torturer - I still refuse to bow down to him.

I prefer to stand against something I find detestable - even over my own salvation.
