No no. That's "expanding" earth, not expanded earth.. We've already been through that. The expansion was something Allah did in one shot before he sent the rain down, so this isn't going to work. Maybe the earth expanded as it was cooling off? Or, maybe expanding was meant to mean the same thing as spreading out. The two can indeed mean the same thing. Expand can have the same meaning as spread out.
God has been expanding the earth. No contradiction here.

That is not correct Arab grammer. It simply means God has been blessing that land, so as it means God has been expanding the earth.

Ibn Kathir wrote exegesis, tafseer, not his own Quran.

Cheap shot. Many Muslims and even non-Muslims know that mistranslations exist in the English versions of the Quran. Ibn Kathir tried to explain the Quran in good faith, but I strongly disagree with some of what he said, Many Muslim thinkers do too. There is nothing wrong with that, because there is no priesthood in Islam.

But let's face it, a lot of this is horse manure. It's pretty funny how there usually appears to be universal agreement on the meaning of a non problematic verses, and they are thought to be clear. But the moment a verse appears to be problematic, then immediately that becomes the mysterious verse where we don't really know what it means. Honestly, who do you people think you are fooling?
