Ramadan is the hottest month,ok, but what about in the south hemisphere?
-
Peace, even though i believe in code 19 and 3 salats just like brother edip,
i was really convinced by the article "calendars..." that ramadan is to be observed during the hottest month, because if we claim to follow quran alone, then we cannot follow a so called islamic calendar that is not detailed in quran.
My question to the researchers out here is
quran was revealed in ramadan, we should fast therein. There is only one night of destiny, one ramadan wherein quran was revealed. Ok? So if u, in the north, observe fasting-ramadan in june, should we, in the south observe it in december? Quran was revealed in june, if quran says to fast therein, do those in the south have to fast in june? Or december? -
Hi
On poles no hot month. So no Ramadan. -
2185 "Whoever witnesses the month, then let him fast during it"
Otherwise, it'd be a huge problem for let's say - Alaskan natives
Hi
Fasting is during "hot months" and these are not present on "North Pole" ,so how can they fast? -
The verse sets a condition whever witnesses it should fast; whoever doesn't, shouldn't
On north Pole there is no witnessing of "hot months".
Then how does fasting is imposed on them? -
You did not understand what you quoted me in?
Sorry for that ,it means North poles muslims are exempted from "Fasting" and those living on equator must 'fast" because they witness hot months.
Divine justice !!!!!!!!!! -
Salaamun Alaikum all,
I think for those who are on North Poles, they can fast in the month from 12 months which is the least coldest. D
Isn't that the hottest month (not for them, ok, but) comparing to other months?
Just a thought.... Allah knows better.
May Allah guide us all towards the correct path.

Salaam everyone
The Ramadan I know is the one, which teaches us about the benefits of fasting and this spritual experience through all seasons in, I believe, a 23 year cycle. To limit the experience of fasting to the hottest month would reduce it to a very limited repetitive experience.

Salaaman Alaiki sister,
"Ramadhan" comes from the root "Ra", "Ma" & "Dhad" or "RMDh" which means "Hottest".
"Shahru Ramadhan" means "Hottest month".
Thats it, I am not sure what exactly is the usage in Al-Quraan about the word "Ramadhan". I am still in search of it.
May Allah guide us all towards the correct path.

Salam all,
dunno about which one ramadhan is... but during the Hijri ramadhan, i noticed that the maghrib pray time is always about 30 minutes earlier at the first day, compared to other months. And it always hot here... (i'm at khatulistiwa )... the pattern is always like that... i guess sticking to Hijri (just as reference) is fine for me until i got other proofs...
Not sure how the month goes at North & south pole out there. I guess just stick to the hottest month u got... (hottest may even be -10 degrees ;D)
May Allah give mercy to us all... pr
Peace handshake

Sun-day; does that mean that this is the only day to do with the sun. If it?s cloudy what do we do? Move it to a sunny day?

As for the meaning of "shahr" as "full moon", this meaning is given by Lisan Al-3arab. The same goes for the meaning of "ramadan" as "scorching".

My question would be how many people are recorded as living in the areas? and of the number of people who live in the area how many are Muslims?
Maybe we avoid living in those areas (either purposely or sub-consciously), in which case this wouldn't be an issue.
Salam,

Divine justice !!!!!!!!!!If you cannot fast, not out of personal disability, don't but feed the poor instead. This also applies to the people in the poles verse 2184
If you want to fast but can't becaue you are ill or travelling, fast other days
If you annot fast but are physically able to, i,e (not sick nor travelling) "wa 3alal latheen yuTeequunahu" feed the poor
