Do believers really win in this life?
-
Peace. If believers (in quran alone) are supposed to win in this life and in the other, then why is it not the case for me? I take myself as an example. Nothing really works for me. Sure, i've had some amelioration in my life both spiritually and materially, but my counterparts are way ahead of me. I know that success isn't about material gain, but why does a believer lacking behind? Any possible reason, why God could be angry with a believer?

Peace,
A few verses in this regards,
6165 - "And He is the One who made you inheritors on Earth, and He raised some of you over others in grades, to test you with what He had given you. Your Lord is quick to punishment, and He is Forgiving, Merciful."
2200 to 202 - "When you have completed your rites, then remember God as you remember your fathers or even greater. From among the people are those who Say "Our Lord, give us from this world!", but in the Hereafter he has no part. And some of them Say "Our Lord, give us good in this world, and good in the Hereafter, and spare us from the retribution of the Fire." These will have a benefit for what they have earned; and God is quick in judgment."

I think you answered your own question here...
I know that success isn't about material gain
And this is very important. If 'success' is not material or riches, etc... how can you compare yourself with someone else? It's important to realize what is "winning" or what is "success". Once we figure that out, then we can go from there. On the other hand, all of life is a test, and the real success is in the hereafter.Sharp quoted some verses to reflect upon. Here's some more...
-
And God will test those who believe and He will condemn the rejecters.
-
Or did you think that you would enter Paradise without God distinguishing those who would strive amongst you and distinguishing those who are patient?
-
Did the people think that they will be left to say ?We believe? without being put to the test?
-
While We had tested those before them, so that God would distinguish those who are truthful and so that He would know the liars.
-
Or did you expect that you would enter Paradise, while the example of those who were before you came to you; they were stricken with adversity and hardship, and they were shaken until the messenger and those who believed with him said ?When is God?s victory?? Yes indeed, God?s victory is near.

I am not financially successfull or anything either. And I have bad luck all the time. Every time I get a job, the company shuts down or something happens. I can't keep friends because they want to go out drinking and dancing and I don't. And everything is difficult.
But whenever something happens I remember this verse as an example
2216 Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.
Whatever happens I might hate it, but maybe God has put something positive in it for me. So I trust Him.
Simple example, if I haven't gone through what I did I would have never found God Alone.
I don't question why I just ponder and accept signs and thank God for everything.
Success in this life and having all the cars and money and houses that I want would have never helped me become this close to God or the Quran.
Listen to what God says when He says
632 What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand?
4736 The life of this world is but play and amusement and if ye believe and guard against Evil, He will grant you your recompense, and will not ask you (to give up) your possessions.
Alhamdu lillah. and yes I feel a winner in this life in my heart and that's what really counts. I have no fear or sadness sun

Peace to all,
Beautiful post peace4life, i feel the same way as you, I believe that once we have found God alone and learn to live and worship according to his will, then we have already found success, and we will be rewarded , we just need to patiently persevere with prayer until we sidle off this mortal coil and enter into eternal peace timelessly and forever.

Greetings and may you find peace,
We live in a universe with set laws. These never change. This is the God's promise. With that said;
We reap what we sow.
The God will not "wave his wand" and magically grant you your wealth, happiness, contentment and success simply because you may adhere to the Quran (which neither you or I or likely anyone really truly fully understands).
We reap what we sow in this SET system The God has created.
Your counterparts are "ahead" as you put it, because they are reaping what they have sown. Their choices and actions (whatever they may be) within The God's system have afforded them their current 'status' or 'success'. (How successful we see ourselves as, is of course, subjective.)
If you are not happy with what you are reaping, you must change YOUR choices and actions. This is The God's promise.

When we feel "envious" about how others are "luckier" than we are, or simply why we have a worse luck, what we really wish is to have their specific luck in our lives. Nobody, no matter how they feel, would want to exchange their whole lives with someone else much richer or luckier.
Would I want to be Diana with her beauty, fame, wealth (when she was still alive)? Would I even want to be my sister who is very rich and have a loving husband and wonderful kids (and she is righteous, too)? Those were questions posed to me by my daughter when once I was very low and asked your question. She just reminded me how wonderful my life was, with all my problems, and that I would still not exchange the whole of it for all the world. Every one of us knows their life is not for exchange, yet we do not realize that. We do not know what the others have as problems and we are not ready to take a risk. Whatever our problems are, we kow them, we do not know the skeletons in other cupboards. Better the devil you know

bravo to your daughter.
I remember a saying that went something like (paraphrasing) - If you took all the problems of every single person in the world, and shared them equally among them, almost everyone would rather stay with their own problems that they had to begin with.

May be it has nothign to do with the question, but I think that God has given all of us a trust, which is ourselves. If we realise what a demonstration of trust that is, what honour. We are given a life, a body, powers to to do what God has decreed for our destiny to be. How could we say that it can be improved or that we wish something else. Aren't we unique, in every detail, specially created, with special problems, with special struggles through our life? Sometimes we play and play that we are this or that, but in fact we ARE already something as interesting as could be conceived. How can we help not being in love with ourselves seeing that we are such a git from God for our direct care. So every difficulty is a charge that ennobles us, every test a proof of God's trust. We may not be up to measure, but still God will value everything we do, and will take our efforts and will improve our efforts in the final result.
Envy or unconformity is unthankfulness to our Saviour and Generous Creator. But as He says, we can be unthankful and weak. May the Most Loving and Bounteous forgive us and reform us.

Salaam all
Read the story of Khidr in the Our'an which reflects on the mysteries of life and that eventually believers do win. However what is better than Zakina/Toubah (peace/tranquility) and a beleiver would attain this through the understanding of the true message from our Creator.
Best regards

Farida, Nazz,
The question is what is the true message?
I think the answer can be found in Nazz's post! What we think about the quran is just that, a thought. But our lives are much more than that. The universe is governed by set laws and principles. Nothing happens by random chane without a reason.
One can research things like "law of attraction" on the web and explore the world of the mind and how it works to create your life.
Peace all

Peace Tarikh my friend,
God will add to our knowledge and our wisdom if we follow his guidance, but we frequently mistake his grace for punishment. Any one who is selected for suffering, and remains patient, will aquire wisdom, one of God's greatest gifts. Gold must be smelted to rid it of its ore and men must suffer to rid them of pride and to achieve true humility, which is what brings us near to Allah. Be happy as, inasmuch as you suffer, you are of the chosen ones. Just look at all the prophets, who were so shaken that they cried "When comes the victory of Allah?!"

I will tell one thing to you.If spirituality is working for you then material will work for you any way....what you should understand is that if you are so sincere with God then why are you not having any peace in this life......
Reason is brother you are like that patient brother who can read a medical book but on his own he can not use that information to cure or even diagnosed his disease or lets say you are a person who can read a book of law for him self but he need an attorney to take care of his legal matters.....
Brother/sister your spirituality is not fixed and thats why material things are bothering you so much.....you need some one with more knowledge to guide you to the spiritual peace in your life.....
you and many others here think that just reading words is enough to make you understand those words but if you didnt know ABDC then how can you read english .If you don,t know the terminologies of medicine then does not matter how many time you read a medical book ...it will make sense to you.....
If it was about worldly gain then why was Mohammed SAW not an emporer or a king or at least a minister to a great king but he was just a Prophet .....
and you are not suppose to be a Prophet but just his follower.....now just like so many people who come to him for guidance...you also need to get back to him for guidance....yes guidance is from Allah,s only but thats why he made Mohammed SAW an example for you......He knew his slaves need an inspiration and you are with out one.....
thats why he is a mercy for the mankind because Allah made it easy for all of us through him.....but this does not mean he is a God but he is a prophet and the final one........if you try to understand Quran through the eyes of Abu Jahil then you will not see the understanding of Mohammed SAW in it.....

yes, you cannot just read wisdom and expect to have it... and I don't think you can just follow someone wise ones actions, and expect to be wise. Instead you have to LEARN it and EARN it. Wisdom comes when you go through life with an open, positive and intelligent mind and think for yourself and work to be good. Some book or some messenger/prophet is not enough. We have to LIVE in this world and make the best out of it. This is what it is all about. There is no point in just copying someones behavior, it has to come from the heart, from the inside out, and it has to have real, practical reasons. Eveything has to be done for the right reasons. We are not sheep, we are human beings with minds and free will.

Peace Tarikh,
I have said this so many times to people, the winning concept comes to you when you believe in yourself and love yourself. When you got a vision, focus on that vision and believe that you already has it and you can see yourself using it. Then you will likely have it soner or later. Important is to stay away from doubts, doubts kill all your visions so they cannot become realities.
There is no angry God who control you Tarikh. People can be angry at eachother for annoying things but you are the one who can change your attitude and be a smiling and good person. Everytime you change a negative thought with a positive thought indeed you have done a great thing not only for yourself but also for people in your surroundings who may easily catch your energy.
And please don't forget to be grateful, say Thank You!!! many times a day to different kind of things and events. You are in a good mood when you are grateful, so lets start be grateful here and now sun
Peace

Peace maria, i did read yr post last time and i did try to change my thoughts, and be positive and use visualization, but tell me, can i change people's thoughts with mine? For instance, just by thinking that someone will be nice will not necessary work IF that person thinks himself as being evil?

Humans learn from the best and they act wise..... other wise they will be stupid and will not get any where with their free will...
