    There is no ambiguity here

    006.098
    YUSUFALI It is He Who hath produced you from a single person here is a place of sojourn and a place of departure We detail Our signs for people who understand.
    PICKTHAL And He it is Who hath produced you from a single being, and (hath given you) a habitation and a repository. We have detailed Our revelations for a people who have understanding.
    SHAKIR And He it is Who has brought you into being from a single soul, then there is (for you) a resting-place and a depository; indeed We have made plain the communications for a people who understand.

    Isn't this significant? From Wiki

    A group of organisms is said to have common descent if they have a common ancestor. In modern biology, it is generally accepted that all living organisms on Earth are descended from a common ancestor or ancestral gene pool.

    A theory of universal common descent based on evolutionary principles was proposed by Charles Darwin in his book On the Origin of Species (1859), and later in The Descent of Man (1871). This theory is now generally accepted by biologists, and the last universal common ancestor (LUCA or LUA), that is, the most recent common ancestor of all currently living organisms, is believed to have appeared about 3.9 billion years ago. The theory of a common ancestor between all organisms is one of the principles of evolution, although for single cell organisms and viruses, single phylogeny is disputed (see origin of life).

      wow, amazing. If this is as we see it, then the quran accepts one more scientific fact.
      this is a great observation OPF, i have not heard about this "scientifical interpretation" until now.
      If this is accepted on free-minds someone can do a further study on it and write an article about it. OPF?

      Peace,
      David

        here is a place of sojourn and a place of departure

        That would appear to be talking abotu the soul - that is ti the place which we turn in sojourn and also departs from the body when we die. It would be consistent with all of our souls originally coming from one large soul entity. I am not sure that it relates to the physical aspect.

          This is very speculative and unproven theory. Yes we?re able to trace humanity through Y-chromosomal Adam to a common ancestor similar to Vista evolving from Windows 1.0 ultimately end up with basic yes/no Boolean logic.

          There are billions of species albeit with similar sequences of 4 bit chemical code. The impossibility lies in that innate elements like carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen with time would evolve into humans talking over the internet or that crude code can write itself into supercomputer clusters running Linux with Lustre File System.

          I?m of the opinion that the original template for each species was created initially and mutates/devolves over time when the copy sequences sometimes goes wrong. Take for example Cyanobacteria which have gone unchanged for 3.5 billions of years with main function to prime the earth and make it habitable for other life forms.

          http//www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/bacteria/cyanofr.html

          I really do not understand how their/our ancestors were at some time related to creatures like these.

          Fascinating field of study genetics and observing the nature of things in general.

            Yet crude code can write itself into a supercomputer cluster.

            With the aid of a programmer ;D

            As I said, can you point out the ambiguity? Humandesign has said

            But "one large soul entity" and the word "soul" is meaningless to me. Traditionally the "soul" is immortal but in the quran the 'nafs' can clearly be killed off (256. Bottom line, through cross reference, we (humans) have been created/originated from an original, mortal 'nafs'. I would be inclined to think that this verse also destroys the idea of Adam and Eve living in "heaven" then dropping down to "Earth" in such a way as to create humans (how? through incest?).

              I wouldn't say single 'creature' (that would be daaba) nor single 'person'. The Nafs is entirely a different concept. I can't think of an accurate word it should be translated as universally.

              5116 is excellent on the Nafs. It says that Isa doesn't know what is in God's 'nafs', which encompasses ilm/knowledge according to the wording there. 328 also talks about the God's nafs.

              Keeping in mind 1529, 698 is referring to the God's nafs IMHO. God is the beginning, so everything is from his nafs. How did Adam gain knowledge again? (See 231)

              Let's also keep in mind 41, as 41 and 698 should be read together.

              917 talks about the God fashioning/evolving the Nafs.

                Thanks. The problem is that we have to seperate God's 'nafs' from this one being talked about here. This is simply down to 2568, you can kill a 'nafs' which suggests that overall, it is talking about 'consciousness'. In this verse it is mentioned alongside very mundane acts. That suggests that while God may have his own 'nafs', in the context of mortal humans like us, it represents consciousness or something similar. I take the idea of God blowing his 'nafs' into Jesus/humans as a sort of life-giving, or consciousness-giving. I mean, when you 'slay the nafs' the dead human is still there - just dead, inanimate, not much more special than a rock.

                  Surely this links to 532 "Anyone who kills a person who has not committed murder, or who has not committed corruption in the land; then it is as if he has killed all the people! And whoever spares a life, then it is as if he has given life to all the people."

                  Nafs must be contrasted with Ruh, that which does not die. The Ruh-Al-Qudus, holy spirit, that gives life to the universe.

                  1528 And your Lord said to the angels "I am creating a human being from a hardened clay."
                  1529 "So when I perfect him, and blow of My Spirit in him, you shall yield to him."

                    Ok, what does the Quran say about how Eve was made? Because the hadith says it was from the rib of Adam, which is false and I think was plagiarized from the bible. Then again a lot of hadith are.

                        Very sorry. I had a large list of "things to ask" on here and I would usually post a question than go into another thread and post another question, so I usually ask questions before I read the reply to previous ones I've asked.

                        Althought I admit, I was hoping to see one of the misconceptions being "Muhammad knew the future" in that link. Sucks it's not there.

                          As far as I'm aware that is not a common misconception amongst "non-Muslims". That is likely why it is not there.

                              650 says that Prophet Muhammad (saw) did not know the unseen.

                              Say "I tell you not that with me are the Treasures of Allah, nor do I know what is hidden. Nor do I tell you I am an angel. I but follow what is revealed to me." Say "Can the blind be held equal to the seeing?" Will ye then consider not?

                                The "Future" is one of the 'unseen' and the prophet clearly stated that in 650 , and there is another verse that says something like "he did not now what will be done to him or to you" .............

Verse 3/59 also confirms this according to which the example of Eesa is like the example of Adam(3/59), (at least in the manner that both have been created from a woman alone, a "nafsun wahidatun", each)

                                      Awesome but, I recall a verse in the Quran saying about Adam "and created from it it's mate" meaning God created Adam and Eve from him. I'm not quite sure about this obviously and I'm kinda in a hurry so...p

                                      Doesnt it say "we created you from one soul" or something like that?

                                      I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

                                        That's the same verse, 4/1. It says "O people, be aware of your rabb, who created you from single person and created min ha zawja ha(from HER HER mate)

                                        min=from
                                        HA=HER

                                        zawja=mate
                                        HA=HER

                                        This shows that the original person was a woman, not a man.

                                          Srsly? That's ownage then...

                                          Because you'll find only in the bible (corrupt Christian book) and the hadith (corrupt Islamic book) statements about the woman being created from one of Adam's crooked ribs. They go hand in hand. Some men don't like the fact that it's the other way around and seek to subjugate women.

                                          Though why am I the first to hear this? If Adam was the first human, how could he have had a mother? Wasn't he created from dust/clay? How is he then an offspring?
