As far as I'm aware, the connotation of the word is dry earth/soil, not mud.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

      Salaam Wakas,
Yes this is correct and thank you for putting us back on track. In reply no 13, I too said ...pure earth, which supposedly contains natural cleansing ingredients, but then the topic turned to mud and I overlooked that I used word mud for the experiment
So conduct experiment using dry clean earth and I am confident that the result will show that even dry clean earth has cleansing power.

If it's about cleansing (literally), how about cleansing creams/milk?

          salaam

the phrase in question is 'fatayammamoo saAAeedan tayyiban'.

          what does this phrase mean?
what is 'tayammamoo? isn't it an imperative?
what is 'saAAeedan tayyiban'? to find the meaning break it first - what is 'saAAeedan'? and what is 'tayyiban'?

              salaam

let's leave 'fatayammamoo saAAeedan tayyiban' to the linguists. i am not.

now is the question were and when do you suppose we 'could not find water'? i suppose it is safe to say that 80% of the human beings a living in regions with easily available water. even the 20% living in the desert regions don't necessarily face a shortage of water.

could it be a case where water is easily available, but we are not in a position to access them, while we need to honour the salat at that very moment?

just ponder about it. what do we do?

              peace

                Question about salat...

How should I do a contact prayer while I'm at work? Do contact prayers need standing, bowing and prostrating at all costs? What if I can't do this? Can I pray while sitting then?

Also I'm aware that the Quran says the believers pray while sitting, standing, lying, etc. bet I think this is referring to DUA/TASBEEH and not SALAT.

                Salam

                    peace all

ok, so i was thinking, if 'salat' is not done the traditional way, what's the point of an ablution?
why mention cleaning only a few body parts for doing salat?

                    Peace,.
                    Respectfully.

That would be for the obediance.
I mean, think about it, how many times have you and i talked about this?
Okay, so you finally agree that if it was about cleanliness, we should've washed armpits first and also private parts, right?

                    Peace.

The ablution is good for the following reasons

                      1. cleanliness and with that also
                      2. respect towards God and
                      3. preperation - it helps you get in the mindset of connecting with God.

                            look at muslim world
salat dosent means prayer but people change it,
salat, study quran-social work if all muslims would do salat properly muslims in the east and all of world would not be that positions
this is the bill our mistakes we have to do proper salat

Quran/1311 For his sake there are angels following one another, before him and behind him, who guard him by Allah'scommandment; surely Allah does not change the condition of apeople until they change their own condition; and when Allahintends evil to a people, there is no averting it, andbesides Him they have no protector.

                                      Selam,

                                      Kuran'da salaat var.

4829 Muhammad, the messenger of God, and those who are with him, are severe against the ingrates, but merciful between themselves. You see them kneeling/bowing and prostrating, they seek God's blessings and approval. Their distinction is in their faces, as a result of prostrating. Such is their example in the Torah. Their example in the Injeel is like a plant which shoots out and becomes strong and thick and it stands straight on its trunk, pleasing to the farmers. That He may enrage the ingrates with them. God promises those among them who acknowledge and do good works forgiveness and a great reward.

2458 O you who acknowledge, let those whom are under your contract and have not yet attained puberty request your permission regarding three times Before the dawn contact prayer, and when you take off your attire from the heat of the noon, and after the evening contact prayer. These are three private times for you. Other than these times, it is not wrong for you or them to intermingle with one another. God thus clarifies the revelations for you. God is Knowledgeable, Wise.

1649 To God prostrate all those in the heavens and all those on the earth, from the creatures as well as the angels, and they are not arrogant.

                                      Edip-Layth - End Note 8 (1649)

The human body, whether belonging to an appreciative or unappreciative person, as a whole has peacefully surrendered to its Creator, and thus is a muslim (submitter/peaceful surrenderer to God). It is true that SaJDa means obedience, submission to God's law (1649). From this verse we should not necessarily infer that everything has a mind like humans. Even if we subscribe to such a fancy assumption, mental events too are physical events; they are the consequence of interactions of electrons. In fact, the prostration of all the creatures we perceive is physical. Any event that can be sensed by our five senses is a physical event. Atoms peacefully surrender to God's laws when they interact with each other. When water freezes it peacefully surrenders to God's law and expands; when it is heated to a certain degree it evaporates. When Hydrogen, Carbon, Nitrogen, and Oxygen atoms come together in a particular order and create bases called Adenine, Cytosine, Guanine, and Thymine, and when these bases join each other in a particular order, pre- ordained by God, they create DNAs that produce new qualities and events, including life. Every cell and organ in our bodies submits to God's law. These are all physical demonstration of SaJDa to God. No wonder, the entire universe is stated to have submitted to God (383; 1315). Interestingly, in these two verses the same idea is depicted yet in 383 the verb aSLaMa (submitted) is used while in 1315 the verb yaSJuDu (prostrating) is used. This is strong evidence that both verbs belong to the same semantic field. As we know, submission to God is not just a mental activity but also a physical action, such as working hard, delivering God's message, feeding the poor, etc. The word SaJDa in some verses means ONLY mental (in quantum, electronic or neural level) prostration while in other verses it means ONLY bodily (atomic and molecular level) prostration. The prostration mentioned in 2720-24 must be bodily, and the one in verse 7748 most likely refers to mental prostration. As for verse 2218, it describes both mental and bodily submission to God. One might argue, "Has anyone ever seen any of these creations bow and prostrate on the ground (animals excluded)? Since all things in heavens and earth do not prostrate to God by casting themselves face down on the ground in humility, then we should not prostrate that way either." This conclusion is based on a false assumption that ALL creatures prostrate the same way. Every creature in the heavens and the earth glorifies God (2441; 571; 591,24; 611; 621; 641). But we do not understand their glorification (1744). We are also instructed to glorify our Lord day and night, not like birds or planets, but like humans, in our language and according to our natural design (341; 598; 7206; 1911; 20130; 3215; 4055; 5039-40; 5248-49; 5674,96; 6952; 7626; 871; 1103). Hence "Do you not see that everything in the heavens and the earth glorify God, including the birds in columns. Each knows his/her/its prayer (sala) and glorification. God is fully aware of everything you do." (2441). The following verse is also important "Are they seeking other than God's religion, when everything has submitted (aSLaMa) to Him in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they will be returned?" (383). Now those who reject that sala prayer includes bodily bowing and prostration should ask a similar question about how to be a muslim just as they ask about how to perform prostration "Has anyone ever seen any of these creations give charity or deliver God's message or study the Quran?" So, according to those who deny that we must both mentally and bodily prostrate for God, we should not give charity, should not deliver the message, should not study the Quran, and should not use computers?!! One might refer to 262 and ask "No, not all of the mentioned people bow and prostrate on the ground. Will they be punished? No, it is the people who do not submit to the God and follow His commands that will deserve His punishment." This is a hasty conclusion. The groups mentioned in the verse (believers, Jews, Nazarenes, and those from other religions) attain salvation as long as they believe in God, do righteous work and believe in the hereafter. Perhaps not all these groups bow and prostrate, and perhaps not all these groups believe and follow the Quran, either. First, we should remember that God holds each responsible depending on their circumstances. As those who witnessed Moses' miracles will be hold responsible for their reaction to them, similarly those who are instructed to bow and prostrate will be held responsible for their reaction. Each nation received a messenger and each received their instruction (1047; 2234; 402. Referring to verse 1850, one might conclude "There is no need to get on the ground to worship your Lord because He has not commanded us to do this. He wants us to bow and prostrate our wills to that of His will." This is a reasonable conclusion. However, knowing that the word prostration was also used to mean humbly getting on the ground, we cannot equate the prostration in this verse to all others. The verse refers to an event which took place before the creation of life on earth. Besides, the instruction is to Satan, a creature made of energy, not matter like us. The nature of the prostration asked of Satan or the angels might be a little different than the one asked of us; or, more accurately, the form, way or style of our prostration might not necessarily be expected to be the same as that of the angels. David, who was observing sala prayer, is described by the Quran as " He then implored his Lord for forgiveness, bowed down (KhaRra RuKka'An), and repented." (3824). David's repentance is clearly described as bowing down, both mentally and bodily. We should remind those who are trying hard to eliminate the formal component of sala prayer of the following verse " When the revelations of the Gracious are recited to them, they fall prostrate (KhaRRu SuJjaDan), weeping" (195. See 4137; 1315; 383.

Let me make my point clearer the contact prayers are ordained in the Quran.

Sad-Lam-Waw = prayer, supplication, petition, oration, eulogy, benediction, commendation, blessing, honour, magnifiy, bring forth, follow closely, walk/follow behind closely, to remain attached.
In a horse race when the second horse follows the first one so closely that its head always overlaps the first horse?s body that horse is called AL-MUSSALLI (i.e. the one who follows closely / remains attached).
Central portion of the back, portion from where the tail of an animal comes out, the rump.

I would personally translate "Salah" as "contact prayer" or "connection/contact/bond".

Also, please read my last post.
