Who are the people of the book?

I use my GOD given senses and anlyse everything carefully and I do believe that the Quran is the Word of GOD and so are the Torah, Psalms and Injeel non of which have been fully revealed to us yet though and i also beleive ALL OF THEM are NUMERICALLY STRUCTURED and that will be the only way theyd be revealed to us fully GW. You can't believe in books you've never seen, especially if you think they haven't even been revealed entirely, so obviously, these divinely-inspired books must be somewhere within our grasp, so we can study, understand, and believe in them alongside al-Qur'an... Plus, there is nowhere (that I've seen at least) in al-Qur'an that says that any one of these other books is numerically structured - that is an assumption, but it is not verified anywhere in the Scriptures...

JK- NO they do not need to be immediately in our grasp. Ill give you an example why this argument is false. Consider the people who cant read or write? How can they even have access to the Quran? How about those people who dont know classical Arabic? They still need time to get access to the Quranic message dont they? How about the difference between hafs and warsh manuscripts and readings? We needed time to figure out which is the true Quran. Besides this there are many statements in the Quran like "7 heavens" etc which we dont yet understand. Thus it is enough if we see part of a book to beleive that theyr from GOD if theres enough evidence to support this. In regards to the numerical stucture that is BASED ON OBSERVATIONAL evidence applied on the scriptures as is the case with so many other things in science. It was revealed to Moses.
We know that there was an oral tradition that was passed down through out the generations before Moses.
We know that for generations God's laws were observed by some including Abraham.
We know that Abraham was a muslim, upright and an example for all generations.
This was before the Torah was written down.So the question is did Moses recieve this previous revelation (history that happened before he was born)
because it was revelation given to Abraham or Noah or another prophet from God and Moses recieved it via oral tradition?
or was it revelation direct from God at the time of the Torah?
I don't know the answer to that.

GOD does not prescribe a punishment which is entirely unjust and illogical or do you say adultery is ever a greater crime than murder ore even rape? BUT that is not all. GOD in the OT also allegedly prescribes stoning/burning to death FOR APOSTATES/BLASPHEMERS and it is impossible to justify this as ive explained.

He was speaking of them killing their "egos" and their "pride", which is literally a form of repentence. We aren't instructed by God to actually kill ourselves - suicide is condemned in al-Qur'an...

Although my Arabic understanding is not very good but I too understand that nafs, among other meanings, also means ego and pride and that we must kill this part of ourself.

This isn't speaking of literally killing themselves either. The preceding verse (465) speaks of them making the prophet the judge between them in their argument regarding their beliefs - the best way to overcome that type of disagreement would be to kill our "pride/egos" and submit to what the messenger speaks from God, as the verse points out. This is explained in the following verses as well, where it speaks of the results of their actions had they done what could've been prescribed to them (suicide)
"...and We would have given them from Ourselves a great reward..." (al-Qur'an 467)
This could be speaking about in this life or the Hereafter. However, the next verse is clearly speaking of THIS LIFE, meaning we would still be living, which wouldn't be the case had we actually killed ourselves (committed suicide).
"...and guide them to a straight path." (al-Qur'an 46
According to the Scripture, this straight path is the way we should lead our lives in this life, and it will enable us to receive God's mercies in the Hereafter, God willing. If we literally committed suicide, we couldn't be guided to this straight path because we would be dead. So, obviously, the Scripture is referring to killing our pride/ego and submit to the message, and this would strengthen us. In fact, the disagreeing people (465) were not believers, according to the Scripture, and this is why they rejected the prophet's message. That's where verse 66 comes in
"And if We ordered them to kill their pride/egos or to leave their homes/dwellings, very few of them would have done it. But had they done what they were told, it would have been best for them and would have strengthened them." (al-Qur'an 466)
As rejecters of the message, they wouldn't submit to the message by literally killing themselves, they would prove their submission to it by ridding themselves of their pride and accepting it, submitting themselves to the prophet. So, I think their "homes/dwellings" were referring to their current state of disbelief - it would have strengthened them to be humble and abandon their disbelief, submitting to the message. This is the only way they could be rewarded by God and guided by Him to the "straight path"...

You don't have to look further. They are incorporated in the qur'aan. The valid verses were copied to the qur'aan , the no more valid ones have been replaced by better ones (2106).

You're misunderstanding comes from not reading the PREVIOUS scripture.
There is a very well known traditional Sufi story which illustrates the problem we are seeing in this thread.
An Elephant belonging to a traveling exhibition had been stabled near a town where no elephant had been seen before. Four curious citizens, hearing of the hidden wonder, went to see if they could get a preview of it. When they arrived at the stable they found that there was no light. The investigation therefore had to be carried out in the dark.
One, touching its trunk, thought that the creature must resemble a hose pipe;
the second felt an ear and concluded that it was a fan.
The third, feeling a leg, could liken it only to a living pillar;
and when the fourth put his hand on its back he was convinced that it was some kind of throne.
None could form the complete picture;
and of the part which each felt, he could only refer to it in terms of things which he already knew.
The result of the expedition was confusion.
Each was sure that he was right; none of the other townspeople could understand what had happened, what the investigators had actually experienced.
There are many versions of this story. This one is a retelling by Idries Shah
When you limit your resources and material you study (such as ONLY the Quran or ONLY the Torah) you do not understand the whole picture.
When you study ALL the scriptures....its as if you were given a LIGHT so that you can SEE the Elephant in the dark.
But still those who have only felt the ear, the trunk, the leg or the back will insist that those who have SEEN the elephant are wrong.

They can cover the Torah and the Injeel, however Allah is not fooled by their covering. Allah knows what he recited to them, they will be judged by what they covered, they will be judged on what was recited to them.

"And We placed shields around their hearts, to prevent them from understanding it, and deafness in their ears. And when you preach your Lord, using al-Qur'an alone, they run away in aversion." (al-Qur'an 1746)
Study the Scripture of al-Qur'an where it mentions these things (6114-115; 1689; 638; 12111), and you'll understand. None of these verses tell us to study these other books also - 1746 says "AL-QUR'AN ALONE", which means we need no other book to complete our picture. Al-Qur'an is even called "the Light" in the Scriptures. God has incorporated everything we need regarding Scripture inside al-Kitaab, which is why it confirms the previous Scriptures. We don't need to study the "Gospels" of Esa to learn about him, not because al-Qur'an gives us all the details of his life, but because al-Qur'an gives us ALL THE DETAILS WE NEED regarding his life and message. All that other stuff in unnecessary, especially considering the fact that the Gospels that we have (Biblical accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are all MAN-MADE BOOKS of Esa's life, similar to reading sunna and hadeeths.

20113 And thus have We sent it down an Arabic Quran, and have distinctly set forth therein of threats that they may guard (against evil) or that it may produce a reminder for them.
2110 Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand?
2150And this is a blessed Reminder which We have revealed; will you then deny it?
2951 Is it not enough for them that We have revealed to you the Book which is recited to them? Most surely there is mercy in this and a reminder for a people who believe.
2510 Allah has prepared for them severe chastisement, therefore be careful of (your duty to) Allah, O men of understanding who believe! Allah has indeed revealed to you a reminder,
What has been revealed before? and to what is the Quran reminding us? This is outlined in the Quran
33 He has revealed to you the Book with truth, verifying that which is before it, and He revealed the Tavrat and the Injeel aforetime, a guidance for the people, and He sent the Furqan.
348 And He will teach him the Book and the wisdom and the Tavrat and the Injeel.
350 And a verifier of that which is before me of the Taurat and that I may allow you part of that which has been forbidden t you, and I have come to you with a sign from your Lord therefore be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me.
543 And how do they make you a judge and they have the Taurat wherein is Allah's judgment? Yet they turn back after that, and these are not the believers.
544 Surely We revealed the Taurat in which was guidance and light; with it the prophets who submitted themselves (to Allah) judged (matters) for those who were Jews, and the masters of Divine knowledge and the doctors, because they were required to guard (part) of the Book of Allah, and they were witnesses thereof; therefore fear not the people and fear Me, and do not take a small price for My communications; and whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the unbelievers.
546 And We sent after them in their footsteps Isa, son of Marium, verifying what was before him of the Taurat and We gave him the Injeel in which was guidance and light, and verifying what was before it of Taurat and a guidance and an admonition for those who guard (against evil).
566 And if they had kept up the Taurat and the Injeel and that which was revealed to them from their Lord, they would certainly have eaten from above them and from beneath their feet there is a party of them keeping to the moderate course, and (as for) most of them, evil is that which they do
568 Say O followers of the Book! you follow no good till you keep up the Taurat and the Injeel and that which is revealed to you from your Lord; and surely that which has been revealed to you from your Lord shall make many of them increase in inordinacy and unbelief; grieve not therefore for the unbelieving people.
5110 When Allah will say O Isa son of Marium! Remember My favor on you and on your mother, when I strengthened you I with the holy Spirit, you spoke to the people in the cradle and I when of old age, and when I taught you the Book and the wisdom and the Taurat and the Injeel; and when you determined out of clay a thing like the form of a bird by My permission, then you breathed into it and it became a bird by My permission, and you healed the blind and the leprous by My permission; and when you brought forth the dead by My permission; and when I withheld the children of Israel from you when you came to them with clear arguments, but those who disbelieved among them said This is nothing but clear enchantment.
7157 Those who follow the Messenger-Prophet, the Ummi, whom they find written down with them in the Taurat and the Injeel (who) enjoins them good and forbids them evil, and makes lawful to them the good things and makes unlawful to them impure things, and removes from them their burden and the shackles which were upon them; so (as for) those who believe in him and honor him and help him, and follow the light which has been sent down with him, these it is that are the successful.
9111 Surely Allah has bought of the believers their persons and their property for this, that they shall have the garden; they fight in Allah's way, so they slay and are slain; a promise which is binding on Him in the Taurat and the Injeel and the Quran; and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? Rejoice therefore in the pledge which you have made; and that is the mighty achievement.
4869 Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those with him are firm of heart against the unbelievers, compassionate among themselves; you will see them bowing down, prostrating themselves, seeking grace from Allah and pleasure; their marks are in their faces because of the effect of prostration; that is their description in the Taurat and their description in the Injeel; like as seed-produce that puts forth its sprout, then strengthens it, so it becomes stout and stands firmly on its stem, delighting the sowers that He may enrage the unbelievers on account of them; Allah has promised those among them who believe and do good, forgiveness and a great reward.
616 And when Isa son of Marium said O children of Israel! surely I am the messenger of Allah to you, verifying that which is before me of the Taurat and giving the good news of an Messenger who will come after me, his name being Ahmad, but when he came to them with clear arguments they said This is clear magic.
625 The likeness of those who were charged with the Taurat, then they did not observe it, is as the likeness of the ass bearing books, evil is the likeness of the people who reject the communications of Allah; and Allah does not guide the unjust people.
547 And the followers of the Injeel should have judged by what Allah revealed in it; and whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the transgressors.
4163 Surely We have revealed to you as We revealed to Nuh, and the prophets after him, and We revealed to Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq and Yaqoub and the tribes, and Isa and Ayub and Yunus and Haroun and Sulaiman and We gave to Dawood the psalms.
1755 And your Lord best knows those who are in the heavens and the earth; and certainly We have made some of the prophets to excel others, and to Dawood We gave a scripture.

And who believe in that which has been revealed to you and that which was revealed before you and they are sure of the hereafter.And this is what is said of those who do NOT believe in previous revelation?..

O you who believe! believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Book which He has revealed to His Messenger and the Book which He revealed before; and whoever disbelieves in Allah and His angels and His messengers and the last day, he indeed strays off into a remote error.625

Those who make such claims are also claiming that THEY DISBELIEVE in the Quran when we are TOLD to uphold previous scripture.
I have given several verses as evidence regarding previous scripture. However, there ARE MANY MORE.
Allah clearly states that HE KNOWS BEST what is in the Heavens and the EARTH (that would include knowing that previous scriptures are STILL here for us to UPHOLD as COMMANDED).?

Salam people of this thread. Before claiming that you consider the followers of the Quran, to be the people of the book, LEARN THE MEANING OF THE WORD QURAN.
The word QURAN means "that which is recited" You do yourselves a great WRONG by making a claim that "a particular writing" is Quran. Making such a claim is "your addition to the word of Allah" Which is haram. If Torah, or Zabur, or Injeel, or Quran is RECITED to you it is ALL QURAN. The word Quran INCLUDES Torah, Injeel, and Zabur.
You do yourselves a great evil by rejecting ANY WORD of Allah. If you foolishly claim the authenticity of Allah's word is in doubt, then NONE of Allah's word is good enough for you, you were not present when Allah recited Quran. You would be better off worshipping a newspaper.
Allah is has the mother of the writing.

Verily, All?h guides not the people who disbelieve. Say "You The Book's people, you are not on a thing, until you keep up the Torah and the Injeel, and what was descended to you from your Lord (the Quran)." And what was descended to you from your Lord increases many of them tyranny/arrogance, and disbelief, so do not grieve/sadden on the nation, the disbelieving. Surely, those who believe, those who are the Jews and the Sabians and the Christians, - whosoever believed in All?h and the Last Day, and worked righteousness, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.There is no contradiction; Quran confirms only the truth in prior scriptures (not entire word for word bible whichever books those are) thus preserving their true revelations?

In their narration (stories there) had been an example to those of the pure minds/hearts (it) was not an information/speech to be fabricated and but confirmation (to) which (is) between his hands and detailing/explaining/clarifying every thing, and guidance, and mercy to (a) nation believing.
