Everytime I read words from the Qu'ran I feel this soothing sensation in my mind, heart, and body.

I hope though that Allah forgives us for all of our bad deeds and only counts our good deeds. The fire is not a place we should perish in.

I really liked this. In Buddhism one of the "four friends" that will bring a person to peace is to practice kindness. Allah is a God of kindness and when we practice kindness we are hopefully pleasing to Him.

I know how you feel about that individual in the mosque stating "the Qu'ran is not enough." Seriously, would they even think about telling that to GOD during their judgment? Would they even dare tell GOD that His own message for us is incomplete and that we have to depend on the writings of scholars? That should be logical that the poison these speakers give out to many people is quite blasphemous.

One time I was chatting with a man who speaks at a mosque about being Qu'ran alone and he treated me like worthless trash. I simply told him that I only follow the Qu'ran and he said so many things that really upset me. He told me that I was saying every other Muslim is an idiot and that I think I'm the best Muslim to ever exist. He went on and on about how the writings of the scholars are reliable and straight from the prophet himself. I gave him verses from the Qu'ran that support our view of Islam and he acted like a vampire seeing a cross.

Last night I was reading though the forums and I stumbled upon a Sunni who actually admitted that he loves Muhammad more than Allah and he even used hadiths to support it.

These are the things I do in order during salaat

Wudu according to the Koran.

Stand facing the Sacred Place of Prostration (the Noble Sanctuary).

Call upon God as "Allah" or "Al Rahman."

Hands are placed behind ears and I say "Allahu Akbar."

Hands are placed on stomach (left on right) and I recite Al-Fatiha in Arabic.

Hands are placed on knees and I bow by bending waist and I say "Allahu Akbar."

I prostrate and say "Alhamdulillah, Subhana Rabbiyal Azeem, Allahu Akbar" thrice each.

I rise up, sitting my knees and feet with head bowed, and I recite Al-Ikhlas.

After the recitation I say "Aslamtu Li Rabbil Alameen" which means "I submit to the Lord of the worlds."

I prostrate once more and say "La Ilaha Illa Allah" which means "there is no god but The God."

Thank you for that. I kind of had the feeling that the five times per day were not quite salaat but rather just praises and glorification.

From what I've read in two translations of 20130 we are commanded to do salaat at dawn, noon, afternoon, evening, and night. Notice that this ayat does not say the night prayer is voluntary. I recall a voluntary night meditation mentioned in the Koran though.

Does anyone here have to do salaat while at work? How does that go?

So the Noble Sanctuary (Temple Mount) in Jerusalem is the Kaaba and we are to face it while praying? I've always had the idea that I should face the Noble Sanctuary in Jerusalem (wherever that is in direction) and have it in my mind for a few seconds that my prayer is being heard at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. There is something about that mosque!

Thank you for posting those verses from The Koran for us. I agree with onepath that what's written in The Koran by Allah is clear as day. I once tried to explain this to a Hadith follower but he basically told me he believes that The Koran does not have everything in it for us even though Allah says His message for us is detailed and complete. But oh well, it is by the grace of Allah who will be able to follow The Koran by itself.

In The Koran, Allah actually says not to divide Islam into sects and that we Muslims should never join those sects. lol

I think the reason why The Koran does not give alot of instruction on how exactly to do salaat is because God wants each Muslim to do it from the heart instead of what scholars or traditions say. As a matter of fact, in the Torah, God said one of the most important things he wanted from the children of Israel was that they serve Him with their heart and soul. So basically no version of salaat is wrong. As long as you are honestly worshiping God in your salaat and from the heart, you shouldn't have to worry about anything.

I agree, customs should be respected and they are neat to keep. Head covering doesn't contradict The Koran and obviously cannot be placed before everything else written in it.

It is also not in the Hebrew Bible to wear head coverings either. However, the Karaite Jews (scripture and God alone) wear the yarmulke because of it being a custom among Jews.

I believe the same thing is with facial hair. I have my sideburns going down to the bottom of my jaw and the hair continues to my goatee. I have my beard not because it's "hadith" or anything, for me it's pretty much a custom and it's my taste.

By the way, it should be obvious that the guy in my avatar is NOT me. lol

Speaking of Sunni prayer, there is a hadith saying that basically says that if you accidently miss the sunrise prayer more than once (non-occasionally) then you are automatically a nonbeliever or infidel. Who really buys into that lie?

There's a man who emphasizes that I do Sunni prayer five times everyday or else I am not really submitting to God even if I do salaat according to GOD'S WORD in The Koran. roll

I remember when I used to do Sunni prayer about three months ago or so, it was alright but I never understood why I had to memorize those last two paragraphs in Arabic at all. Currently I just do salaat three times every day (sunrise, afternoon, sunset) based off of what I read in The Koran so that I have a little bit of instruction and can worship God from the heart. It even says in The Torah to serve God with your heart and soul which was one of the major things that God wanted most from the Children of Israel. The Sunni prayer is alright as long as you really mean what you are doing and you feel you are doing what is right. However, it can ofcourse be changed a little bit and the parts that mention Muhammad and Abraham should be left out because our salaat is to be given to God alone. Hmmm, I may actually do this; I'll change up the Sunni salaat so that it's suits a Koran and God alone form of salaat. Besides, the Sunni salaat does involve many things from The Koran that give instruction for salaat. Instead of switching to five times a day (which I hear has pagan origins) I will continue doing this three times per day as mentioned in The Koran.

In one translation of 2194 I read about a month called Muharram which is a month where nobody is permitted to do anything wrong. The word Muharram by the way means "restricted."

One other translation of 2194 didn't say Muharram but instead it said "Sacred Month."

Whenever I google about Muharram it just shows stuff about the Islamic celebration which is ofcourse hadith stuff.

Is it possible that this sacred or restricted month actually the observance of Ramadan?

I will appreciate any responses.

AbdulMajid's Modified Sunni Salaat for Koran Alone

This version of salaat is for those of you who like the Sunni salaat but would like it to be done in a "Koran alone" way.

1. Stand with your hands up, palms foward, and thumbs touching back of ears.
   Say "Allahu Akbar" once.

2. While still standing, place your hands on your stomach, right on left.
   Recite Sura 1 (The Key) once.

3. Bow and say "Allahu Akbar" once.

4. Stand up straight and then get down to prostrate.
   While prostrating say "Alhamdulillah", "SubhanaAllah", and "Allahu Akbar" three times each.

5. Sit up from the prostration with your head bowing down.
   Recite Sura 112 (The Unity) once. Pause for a few seconds and then give the statement of faith from 2131 which is "Aslamtu Li Rabbil Alameen" (I submit to the Lord of the worlds).

6. Prostrate once more in silence and then rise. You are done. Keep God on your mind.

Stops 3 and 4 can be done twice for the morning and sunset prayer and thrice for the afternoon prayer. Those two steps can also be done thrice morning and sunset and twice for the afternoon. Any number of sets is appropiate as none are mentioned in The Koran.

The recited suras can be spoken in Arabic or English. All other words can be said in Arabic or English or even both.

Allahu Akbar = The God is the greatest
Alhamdulillah = Praise be to God
SubhanaAllah = Glory be to The God
