Peace Haneen,
then if you fear that they cannot keep within the limits of Allah, THERE IS NO BLAME ON THEM FOR WHAT SHE GIVES UP TO BECOME FREE THEREBY. These are the limits of Allah, so do not exceed them and whoever exceeds the limits of Allah these it is that are the unjust.2229.
Dissolution of Marriage (Pakistan)
A Muslim Marriage is a contract and can be dissolved like any other contract. It is automatically dissolved on the death of one of the spouses. Other than this, both wife and husband have legal and religious rights to dissolve a marriage. A husband has the unilateral right of talaq, which can never be taken away but can be restricted through the nikahnama (clause 19). A wife can dissolve her marriage unilaterally only if the right of divorce has been unconditionally delegated to her by the husband in the nikahnama (clause1.
Other forms of dissolution of marriage which the wife can use are khula and judicial divorce (including option of puberty). These both have to be sought through the Family Courts.
A woman has an equal right to divorce. The only difference is that in such a situation she will demand a divorce from her husband. If the husband refuses, she has all the right to take the matter to the court. The matter will then be decided by the ruling of the court.
Judicial Divorce / Khula
Dissolution of Muslim Marriages Act 1939
Judicial khula may also be granted without husband's consent if wife is willing to forgo her financial rights.
Grounds for Judicial Divorce
Grounds on which a woman may seek khula include
?Desertion by husband for four years,
?Failure to maintain for two years
?Husband contracting a polygamous marriage in contravention of established legal procedures,
?Husband's imprisonment for seven years,
?Husband's failure to perform marital obligations for three years,
?Husband's continued impotence from the time of the marriage,
?Husband's insanity for two years or his serious illness,
?Wife's exercise of her option of puberty if she was contracted into marriage by any guardian before age of 16 and repudiates the marriage before the age of 18 (as long as the marriage was not consummated),
?Husband's cruelty (including physical or other mistreatment, unequal treatment of co-wives), and
Any other ground recognized as valid for the dissolution of marriage under Muslim law.
In practice in most of the Muslim world today divorce can be quite involved as there may be separate secular procedures to follow as well. Usually, assuming her husband demands a divorce, the divorced wife keeps her mahr, both the original gift and any supplementary property specified in the marriage contract. She is also given child support until the age of weaning, at which point the child's custody will be settled by the couple or by the courts.
Women's right to divorce is often extremely limited compared with that of men in Middle East. While men can divorce their spouses easily, women face a lot of legal and financial obstacles. For example, in Yemen, women usually can ask for divorce only when husband's inability to support her life is admitted while men can divorce at will. However, this contentious area of religious practice and tradition is being increasingly challenged by those promoting more liberal interpretations of Islam.
In Egypt, men enjoy the benefit of law in divorce. If a woman leaves her husband without his consent, she might be filed charges under Egypt's "obedience laws," and would lose alimony upon divorce. While men are not required to convince in a judicial court for divorce, women must resort to legal action, and are required to abandon all rights to the couple's finances and to repay their dowries.
In Lebanon, women who suffered from domestic violence must provide testimony of an eyewitness, in addition to a medical certificate from a doctor documenting physical abuse to sue divorce. This is conducted in Egypt too.
In Syria, article 91 of the personal status code grants men right to divorce without providing any specific reason, and men only notify the divorce to the government. On the other side, women usually can initiate discussion about divorce only when their husband's inability to support them is admitted. To receive alimony, a woman needs to prove inability to live on her own. When women seek to divorce, she must file charge and provide specified legitimate reason. Although consensual divorce and khol are also available, in this case women must repay him the dower.
In Saudi Arabia, women must prove the ability to pay compensation as well as their spouse's violence, and will face the difficulty convincing an all-male judiciary. Besides, in most cases, custody of children tends to be given to men.

Urdu Translations.
Moulanna Fateh Muhammed - Shah Ahmed Raza Khan - Mohadus Delhvi
Moulana Abu Kalam Azad - Tafsir-a-Namona - Tafheem al Quran
Fahm al Quran - Moulanna Tahir-ul-Qadri
I started with the translation of Moulanna Moudodi because it was much easy to understand for a beginner. then I developed this curiosity of knowing how others have translated a particular verse and that is when I started downloading/collecting every translation that I could find on the internet or book stores.
My father's collection of about 10 different translations by prominent scholars helped me a lot in the beginning, but now I rarely have to pick them off the shelf as I have 90% of the total collection on my computer.
My favorite is parallel quran, it has 8 translations of different scholar and is useful for comparative study. I also like to compare recent translations with earlier translations for better understanding.

Peace Ammarb87,
Temptation is an irresistible force that often makes us err; every now and then we all have the tendency to fall victim to our own selfish desires.
Islam fully understands the temptations that come in the way of everyone of us, and that which some of us might go for. Only through repentance, that one can wipe out those sins and past misdeeds and gradually get freed from the clutches of the ego.
Feelings of remorse and guilt are natural reflections of sinning, IF THE PERSON WHO HAS SINNED HAS A CONSCIOUS WHICH IS ALIVE. Moreover, repentance brings about humbleness and a sense of helplessness to the only Creator; Allah, and that is not easily acquired through other forms of worship.
REPENTANCE BREEDS GOOD DEEDS, whilst sinning (without repentance) can cause deprivation of obedience altogether. There is no recourse for a sinner except to ask Allah for forgiveness and to feel great regret for his actions.
Repentance is to repent from the heart, to train the heart into obedience and TO MAKE A FIRM RESOLUTION NEVER TO COMMIT THE SIN AGAIN.
"Except those who repent, have faith and good deeds, those Allah will charge their sins for good deeds. Certainly Allah is most forgiving and merciful." (2570)
This is a greatest glad tiding for those who repent and COMBINE THEIR REPENTANCE WITH DEEP FAITH AND GOOD DEEDS

Peace all,
Man has an innate nature to seek for his Creator. While seeking for his Creator, anything that was very powerful, enormous, or unusual, drew his attention and he worshipped them. He even worshipped fellow human beings who were gifted with special abilities by God.
Everything we see around us has been created by someone. The houses, cars, TV, radios etc. did not come into existence by themselves. Although we do not know the individuals who assembled them, we know for sure that human hands are behind their creation.
Each human cell performs hundreds of thousands of complex chemical reactions every day for its proper function and exact reproduction. All tissues and organs in the body are regulated by biological laws set forth for them. The brain does not perform the function of heart and the heart does not perform the function of kidney. The complex and intimate relationships between the organs are precise and governed by fundamental laws. We may utilize these laws, already set forth for them, to our advantage, but in no way can we alter these fundamental laws.
We see the apparent lifeless seeds grow into plants with life. Again we see plants and animals, full with life, made into lifeless materials. We also observe the vast universe, its grand design, the superb organization, and its precise and flawless functions. Did all these come into existence and continue to exist by themselves? Basic human intelligence will tell us that there is a Creator who brought into existence each and everything around us and beyond.

Peace lk/all,
i think the biggest misconception about god is to appropriate "him" in a sectarian way thinking that "he" will shun any other believers than those of the faith one is believing in
I second that.

Peace Sarah/all,
Early historians, such as Tabari, and hadith collectors, such as Bukhari, were led to compile their books on the basis of oral narrations as no original written records existed at that time. The authors did not care if the hadiths they are writing contradict the Quran or the other Hadiths or the common sense. In these books a new religion was written that dominated over the Quran despite the claim for the opposite.
More than 5000 hadiths are narrated by Abu Hurayra who came from Yemen in the seventh year of Hijra and converted to Islam. He stayed in the company of the Prophet less than two years. In contrast very few hadiths are narrated by Ayesha, Abu Baker, Ali or Omar, who were in the company of the prophet for a very long time . Most of abu Hurayra's narrated hadiths are called the "Aahad" hadiths, i.e. hadiths only witnessed by one person, this one person was Abu Hurayra himself. Some of the Prophets companions and Ayesha, the Prophet's wife, accused him of being a liar, telling lies about the prophets just to make up hadiths and gain some status. Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, the second Khalifa threatened Abu Hurayra to send him to exile if he does not stop telling hadiths about Muhammed, he did stop until Omar's assassination then started again. He kept telling hadiths to please the Khalifa of the Muslims then, including the time he lived in the Royal Palace of Mu'aawiyah in Syria. The Quranic constitution which guarantees universal human rights and freedom, was distorted and given an imperial twist.
According to the Muslim writers, the prophet died in 632 AD.
The man who compiled the first book of hadiths was born 178 years after the death of the prophet and the man recognized for the first comprehensive book of Islamic history was born 206 years after the prophet's demise.
MUHAMMAD AL-BUKHARI (810-870)
Bukhari was born in July 20, 810 CE in the city of Bukhara, in what is today Uzbekistan.
It is said by the age of ten, Imam Bukhari had memorised 70,000 hadith by heart with their complete chain of narrations going from him to his teacher, and his teacher's teacher, all the way to the Prophet Muhammad.
He was a famous Sunni Islamic scholar of Persian ancestry, most known for authoring the hadith collection named Sahih Bukhari, a collection which Sunni regard as the most authentic (Arabic Sahih) collection after the Qur'an.
Sunni say that notable hadith scholars of that time, such as Ahmad Ibn Hanbal 855, Ibn Man 847, and Ibn Madni 848, all accepted the authenticity of his book
Other Hadith collectors and historians
MUSLIM IBN AL-HAJJAJ. (821-875)
Born in the town of Nishapur in Persia and traces his origins to the Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah of the Arab tribe of Quraish.
Author of the second most widely recognized collection of Hadith in Sunni Islam, "Sahih Muslim"
Among the author's teachers were included Harmala ibn Yahya, Sa'id ibn Mansur, Abd-Allah ibn Maslamah al-Qa'nabi, al-Dhuhali, AL-BUKHARI, Ibn Ma'in, Yahya ibn Yahya al-Nishaburi, and others. Among his students were AL-TIRMIDHI, Ibn Abi Hatim al-Razi, and Ibn Khuzaymah, each of which wrote works on hadith too. After many studies throughout Arabia, Egypt, Iraq and Syria, he settled down in his hometown of Nishapur where he first met Bukhari, with whom he would have a friendship until his death.
He died in 875 CE in Nishapur, where he was also buried.
His book is considered among Sunni Muslims the most authentic collections of hadith, second only to al-Bukhari's work.
Estimates on how many hadiths are in his books vary widely from 12,000 to 3,033 depending on whether they remove the duplicates, and consider only the text or the isnad as well. The book is said to share about 1900 hadiths with Bukhari's Sahih
Abu Da'ud Sulayman ibn Ash`ath al-Azadi al-Sijistani (817-88
was a noted collector of hadith and wrote the third of the six canonical hadith collections recognized by Sunni Muslims, Sunan Abi Da'ud. He was born in Sijistan (Sistan or Sagestan, Persia) in 817, and died in 888.
ABU IBN MUHAMMAD TIRMIZI (824-892)
He wrote the Sunan al-Tirmidhi, one of the six canonical hadith compilations used in Sunni Islam. He was born in Bugh, a suburb of Termez , Persia. Starting at the age of twenty, he traveled widely, to Kufa, Basra and the Hijaz, seeking out knowledge from, among others, Qutaiba ibn Said, Bukhari, Imam Muslim and Abu Da?ud.
Muhammad ibn Ishaq , or simply Ibn Ishaq (died 767) was an Arab Muslim historian. He collected oral traditions that formed the basis of first biography of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. This biography usually called Sirat Rasul Allah (Life of Allah's Messenger).
Abi Ja'far Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari (838-923)
He was one of the earliest, most prominent and famous Persian historians, most famous for his Tarikh al-Tabari (History of the Prophets and Kings) and Tafsir al-Tabari.
Tarikh al-Tabari is considered to be the first comprehensive book of History of Islam and his history is considered to be the mother of all history confused. It enjoys a unique position among the histories of Islam and it is the main source of all subsequent books on Islamic history.
But we must keep in mind that God repeatedly told us in the Quran that His book, is complete and fully detailed. God also says that the Quran is enough and that those who do not find the Quran to be enough will be committing idol-worship by having people like Bukhary, Muslim, Ahmed and others as partners with God, in setting the law for this great religion.

Another verse that implies no superior or inferior race is
Peace aalmakato, yes no race is superior or inferior and God will not judge us on the bases of color/caste/nationality, it will be our conduct that will matter in the end.
O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things). 4913.
peace
Peace jafar/all.
BTW, Who said the prophet (Muhammad Ibnu Abdullah) was an Arab?
Can you point out a reference / evidence of this in the Quran?
I am a little confused, although I can read Arabic, I don't understand the language at all and for my understanding of Quran I totally depend upon the translations. So please ignore any absurdity in my post.
The word ARAB by itself is derived from the Hebrew word ARAV which means DESERT. And ARAVAH means DESERT PLAIN.
Thus AL-ARABU actually means "DESERT PEOPLE".
Ok brother, but these desert people spoke a language known as Arabic, quran was revealed in Arabic through a messenger who spoke the same language.
The land they dwelled in was known as Arabia long before the Christian era. The Arabic language was the main symbol of cultural unity among these people and Arabs was the name given to these ancient inhabitants of the Arabian Peninsula and often applied to the peoples closely allied to them in ancestry, language, and culture.
Therefore it is confusing as to why the prophet wasn?t an Arab?
A Book of which the verses are made plain, AN ARABIC QURAN for a people who know 41 3.
And if We had sent this as a Qur'?n in a foreign language other than Arabic, they would have said "Why are not its Verses explained in detail (in our language)? What! (A Book) not in Arabic and (the Messenger) AN ARAB?" Say "It is for those who believe, a guide and a healing. And as for those who disbelieve, there is heaviness (deafness) in their ears, and it (the Qur'?n) is blindness for them. They are those who are called from a place far away (so they neither listen nor understand). 41 44.
And We did not send any messenger BUT WITH THE LANGUAGE OF HIS PEOPLE, so that he might explain to them clearly; then Allah makes whom He pleases err and He guides whom He pleases and He is the Mighty, the Wise. 14 4.
peace
Peace all,
For THOSE WHO DO GOOD IS GOOD (reward) and more (than this); and blackness or ignominy shall not cover their faces; these are the dwellers of the garden; in it they shall abide. 1026.
And (as for) THOSE WHO HAVE EARNED EVIL, the punishment of an evil is the like of it, and abasement shall come upon them-- they shall have none to protect them from Allah-- as if their faces had been covered with slices of the dense darkness of night; these are the inmates of the fire; in it they shall abide. 1027.
And as to those who believe and DO GOOD DEEDS, He will pay them fully their rewards; and ALLAH DOES NOT LOVE THE UNJUST. 357.
Quran makes it clear that ?good will be the reward for those, who do good deeds?
And ?bad will be the reward for those, who do bad deed?. If you sow wheat, you will not reap Rice, it?s unnatural.
Those who do good, don?t need any intercession to qualify for the promised reward, it?s like the students who work hard and concentrate on their studies, do not require intercession to pass their exams.
It?s the bad students who focus on intercession, so that they may be amongst the successful students, without hard work. If those who don't deserve, qualify through intercession to be amongst the ranks of those who deserve, this will absolutely be UNFAIR to those, who had worked extremely hard and fulfilled the fundamental requirements to achieve success. So in my opinion/understanding there is no intercession on the Day of Judgment because Allah is not unfair.
just a thought don't take it literally though.
You do need to see to whom God is saying what ever he is saying.
I agree with you. we also have to ponder on other verses in order to understand a particular verse.
I think this verse may help us to understand and resolve the issue.
What! Do those who seek after evil ways think that WE SHALL HOLD THEM EQUAL WITH THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND DO RIGHTEOUS DEEDS,- that equal will be their life and their death? ILL IS THE JUDGMENT THAT THEY MAKE. 4521.
Allah created the heavens and the earth for just ends, and in order that EACH SOUL MAY FIND THE RECOMPENSE OF WHAT IT HAS EARNED and none of them be wronged. 4522.

Peace humandesign,
Thy Lord hath decreed, THAT YE WORSHIP NONE SAVE HIM, and (that ye show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age with thee, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word.
When his Lord said unto him Surrender! he said I HAVE SURRENDERED TO THE LORD OF THE WORLDS.
The same did Abraham enjoin upon his sons, and also Jacob, (saying) O my sons! Lo! Allah hath chosen for you the (true) religion; THEREFORE DIE NOT SAVE AS MEN WHO HAVE SURRENDERED (UNTO HIM).
Or were ye present when death came to Jacob, when he said unto his sons What will ye worship after me? They said WE SHALL WORSHIP THY GOD, THE GOD OF THY FATHERS, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac, ONE ALLAH, AND UNTO HIM WE HAVE SURRENDERED.
Those are a people who have passed away. Theirs is that which they earned, and yours is that which ye earn. And ye will not be asked of what they used to do
And they say Be Jews or Christians, then ye will be rightly guided. Say (unto them, O Muhammad) Nay, BUT (WE FOLLOW) THE RELIGION OF ABRAHAM, the upright, and HE WAS NOT OF THE IDOLATERS
And unto Midian (We sent) their brother Shu'eyb. He said O my people! SERVE ALLAH. YE HAVE NO OTHER ALLAH SAVE HIM! And give not short measure and short weight. Lo! I see you well-to-do, and lo! I fear for you the doom of a besetting Day.
And CALL NOT WITH ALLAH ANY OTHER GOD; there is no god but He, every thing is perishable but He; His is the judgment, and to Him you shall be brought back.
11 2. THAT YOU SHALL NOT SERVE (ANY) BUT ALLAH; surely I am a warner for you from Him and a giver of good news,
And (remember) when We made a covenant with the Children of Israel, (saying) WORSHIP NONE SAVE ALLAH (ONLY), and be good to parents and to kindred and to orphans and the needy, and speak kindly to mankind; and establish worship and pay the poor-due. Then, after that, ye slid back, save a few of you, being averse.
And Yunus, when he went away in wrath, so he thought that We would not straiten him, so he called out among afflictions THERE IS NO GOD BUT THOU, glory be to Thee; surely I am of those who make themselves to suffer loss.
SO KNOW THAT THERE IS NO GOD BUT ALLAH, and, ask protection for your fault and for the believing men and the believing women; and Allah knows the place of your returning and the place of your abiding.
Say I ONLY CALL UPON MY LORD, and I do not associate any one with Him.
Say SURELY NO ONE CAN PROTECT ME AGAINST ALLAH, nor can I find besides Him any place of refuge
And SERVE ALLAH. ASCRIBE NO THING AS PARTNER UNTO HIM. (Show) kindness unto parents, and unto near kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and unto the neighbour who is of kin (unto you) and the neighbour who is not of kin, and the fellow-traveller and the wayfarer and (the slaves) whom your right hands possess. Lo! Allah loveth not such as are proud and boastful,

Peace all,
I am not looking for an absolute rule for or against abortion (there are no absolute rules in morality). And I am also not arguing that abortion is right or wrong.
My point is that if we let women decide whether they want to keep their unborn baby or not, the world will be a healthier, happier place. I think that all the research and statistics back me up on that, and I doubt that you can refute it.
because
I think the right thing to do is leaving it up to the mother
Me thinks abortion should be legal and whether or not God approves it He will be the one to judge the perpetrator.
agree
