It's obvious that the multitude of translations out there are not all consistent with eachother. Trying to figure out the accurate translation is not a problem of the past- it is an ongoing problem. If it weren't then why is there a free-minds translation of the Qur'an in the first place?

Translation is not the problem but its the interpretation which is the biggest problem.I will not say that you should think about a sect but you should think of the right interpretation.

You can easily get the literal meaning right by comparing two or three or even five translation of Quran.....but the thing is first we need to clearly why we need the Quran in the first place and for that the very first Hadith from Bukhari will open up the way....

If you are talking about the Hadith which talk about killing a person who speak the Quran but don,t understand then may Allah protect people around you because you will take the words of swords in Quran literally and may harm people around you on the base of those verses but just because word kill mention does not necessary means kill literally..... some time or most of the time you can kill peoples emotionally rather than killing them physically...

What do the words "and from You alone we seek help" in Sura Fatiha mean exactly? Obviously we cannot live our lives without seeking help from other people. Is this in reference to spiritual guidance, in which case, one could deduce that we shouldn't even be asking eachother about religion? That seems unlikely too. Or does it just mean that whenever we do seek religous guidance from other people, that guidance should be from God's message?

yes, you cannot just read wisdom and expect to have it... and I don't think you can just follow someone wise ones actions, and expect to be wise. Instead you have to LEARN it and EARN it. Wisdom comes when you go through life with an open, positive and intelligent mind and think for yourself and work to be good. Some book or some messenger/prophet is not enough. We have to LIVE in this world and make the best out of it. This is what it is all about. There is no point in just copying someones behavior, it has to come from the heart, from the inside out, and it has to have real, practical reasons. Eveything has to be done for the right reasons. We are not sheep, we are human beings with minds and free will.

I personally believe that regardless of the origin or the literal meaning of words or names like Allah ,Esswar,Khuda,God etc etc they r universal representation of the supreme being who created us.Its amazing that you will find that supremebeing in every language .Regardless of nationallty or ethinicity every one knows that there is a supremebeing even the ones who reject God knows God,s names.We can not judge those names on the basis literal meaning but all of us knows where these names are directed personally i believe its a sign of God.

I personally believe that conscience is the guide to God .We search into different books when the guiding book is already fitted in us in the form of our conscience.Unfortunatlly we ignore our conscience and look for alternatives.Amazinglly every book which claims to be ultimate guidence to God fails some where in a situation or in a circumstance but mirically conscience never fails.It is always there to help.I see it as a sign from God,Concious is universal it didn,t need any special language to understand .We didn,t need any special teacher to learn it.You didn,t required gramiticall perfectness to understand it .Its amazing that God has made it easy for everyone of us .The problem begins when we ignore it and look for manmade resources forgeting that circumstances timings n situation of every individual is different.
