Being a Muslim -
Gay and Muslim?Salam
Why should I demonstrate the Qur'an is against specifically homosexuality? hmm
Because you're claiming it, and it doesn't seem to be in a way demonstrated beyond your personal conjecture.
The issue is not whether sodomy is equal to violent rapists. )
Yes it is, because gang violence is mentioned along with the sin in the story of Lot. Its directly related to it.
So true.. therefore where is the ayat from the Qur'an to support the conclusion that he is a Muslim?
Where is the ayat to support the conclusion that there is a provision for "Gay Muslim" in the Qur'an?
If the Quran doesn't actually outright condemn homosexuality why does there need to be one to support it? By your standard I could say bring a Quran verse to support a Muslim sleeping at 2 o'clock pm, and if you can't bring one, one cannot do so and be Muslim.
Gayism
No offense, but how old are you? If you're going to start devolving into insults I'm not sure I'm going to keep discussing with you. I'll pray for your obvious prejudice.

Gay and Muslim?Gay or homosexuality is sexual gratification from the same sex. It starts from the border line between childhood and adolescence, until adulteration is completed i.e. when we reach adulthood. The borderline between childhood and adolescence is the stage when the habit of masturbation is invented as the most gratifying discovery when a boy touches his own genital organ; and when a female touches her own genital organ; here starts male to male; and female to female sensual affinities - the mental growth of gay sexual aberration is seeded here.
I'd love to see the scientific backing for this statement. yeah

Gay and Muslim?Peace all,
It says they preferred men over women, but in the case of gay people, can that really be helped? Not if gay people don't choose to be attracted to the same sex, and not the opposite. Its not really a matter of liking both even and choosing to like men better.

Gay and Muslim? However on the issue of whether he is a Muslim ...
I don't think he is a Muslim.. the rule is very clear.
Why he wants to change the rule and be called as a Muslim if he don't want to follow the Qur'an? hmm
Only the munafiqoon (hypocrites) and mushrikeen (associators) wants to be called or identified with for what he was not.
Peace
You can think as you wish I suppose, and may God decide all disputes. )
I don't think you've really demonstrated the Quran is against specifically homosexuality, as others mentioned, there are things like gang violence associated with the actual Quranic sin. I'd hope no one would suggest homosexuals are all violent rapists.
Ultimately I think only God could determine who believes. Again, may God decide all disputes.

The Sunnis and Shias promote and carry out violence against homosexuals, probably because they've got Hadith encouraging this type of action.
Regardless of what someone's views are in regard to homosexuality, there's nothing that in the Quran that justifies violence against people who are openly gay. Apart from violence, even discrimination or slander are not permissible.
I'm on a Quran only/Progressive Thinkers facebook group where people write in anonymously with their questions. We answer to the best of our ability. Though, I couldn't believe the amount of hatred against homosexuals, within this particular Quranist group. Nobody threatened anyone violently, but they were very mean-spirited.
Some people are just hateful I guess, and I wonder if they think hate and discrimination are godly values?

Is Munafiqoon or Mushrikeen is a Muslim?

And (remember) Lout (Lot), when he said to his people
You commit Al-Fahishah (sodomy the worst sin)
which none has preceded you in (committing) it in the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns).
Verily, you do sodomy with men, and... <- comparison (1732)

Does Al-Fahishah actually translate Sodomy? Funny the word Sodom means charred or burnt, nothing more or less. Also, if no one committed it prior its not talking about homosexuality, as homosexuality existed in cultures way more ancient than Sodom.

Gay and Muslim?I, like a few others here, gather that a Muslim is a submitter to God, and not necessarily an adherence to strict religious dogmas, but remembrance of God. Any reason a gay person can't be a Muslim?
-
Gay and Muslim? Why wouldn't this thread be serious? Its very serious and relevant, if a person happens to be gay and interested in Islam. Thanks for all the respectful answers friends.
So the Koran basically suggests like the Bible that it wasn't necessarily homosexuality, but gang violence, rape, inhospitality, and so forth?

Come christians and jews to heaven?Peace friends,
I notice the OP clarified with Christians that don't believe Jesus is God, but does the Koran suggest God wouldn't overlook a mistaken sincere belief in Jesus as God, and does the Koran ever suggest that the Christians its praises for abundance of faith and upright behavior is other than Orthodox/Catholic Christians?

Saying there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is the messenger of God is haram?Peace friends,
The Koran says Muhammad isn't greater than any other messenger, so if you're gonna say Muhammad in it, you may as well say Jesus, Buddha, Isaiah, David, and the near hundred known messengers. The Koran doesn't call for it from what I can tell.

How should one pray in an Islamic manner according to the Koran?Peace friends,
Thank you all for your views on prayer, and I thought it made a lot of sense, those who said that its more about remembering prayer, keeping a time apart with God in our daily lives.
I would agree we should remember daily prayer from the background I already have, so it seems the Koran does indeed confirm the messages that came before it, in prayer and other good things.
As for bowing down being the way of all the messengers, I think that could be so. I have made it a practice to kneel when I pray, which is 2-3 times a day already, because it helps humble me. I think I could add bowing to that practice of already kneeling.
As for how I pray. I already use Jewish, Christian, and other faith tradition prayers. I read the person saying they make use of the Lord's Prayer. I think I could add the recitation of the Surah Al Faitha into my prayers.
Thanks all. Pray that God may help me to understand more how Islam also can be part of my spirituality.

Quran and rationalismWhoops I posted in the wrong thread. Sorry

Being a MuslimPeace friends,
I guess my question is how does one become/be a Muslim according to Koran alone? I ask because I'm more familiar with Sunni/Shi'a ideas that you must say shahadda, must pray five times a day, must attend mosque on Friday, must do all kinds of additional stuff like some even say walk through doors with the correct foot forward.
I don't believe this is Islam. Its obvious traditional additions to make religion harder when the Quran says God's wish is to make your religion easy. I guess my question is what is being Muslim by Quran alone? I sum. What are beliefs to hold, and things that must be done?
Is Muslim even a specific religion? Because I notice the Quran speaks highly of righteous Jews and Christians in places. The Bible is called previous scripture, and also a book of God.
I know this isn't a simple easy answer question perhaps, but I'd appreciate your answers/thoughts.

Gay and Muslim?Peace friends,
Without being too controversial, I wanted to ask if a person can be gay and Muslim? I'll be honest, some of the things I've seen more traditional Sunni/Shi'a Muslims say about gay people is downright shocking. Many of them speak like gay people are hardly human, and deserve to be treated like mental patients, or else killed.
Is this what Islam really teaches about gay people, and would a gay person have a place within the fold? Please note, this is a very sensitive topic for me, so please be kind. I just wanted to know.

How should one pray in an Islamic manner according to the Koran?Salaam friends,
The thing I've been wondering about is how would one pray according to the Koran alone? Is it similar to some of the Jewish or Christian prayers I've prayed? Is there the necessity of prostration, recitation of suras, etc. as the Sunni and Shia do? Exactly what does the Koran teach about prayer?
Thanks

Hello and PeaceHello all,
I found this website when googling Koran-based Islam, and I hope I am welcome to ask questions and such.
I consider myself eclectic in spirituality, seeing validity and truth in most religions, and I believe that includes Islam, but I'm still trying to figure out exactly what Islam and the Koran could mean for me. Like what place they could hold in my life and practice.
I'm Jewish by ethnicity, so I keep observances like the sabbath and some festivals, but not necessarily observant. I keep kosher or halal by default, being vegetarian. I also see truth in other places like Buddhism, Christianity, and as I said, I'm sure Islam as well. I hope this website can help me discover more about Islam and how much significance it could hold for me.
I look forward to some interesting discussions, and maybe self-discovery on my part. Thanks for having me.
Shalom/Salaam/ Peace be with you.
