Perhaps multi-lingual is the problem?

A high possibility. At the age of two, my family moved to another country. Sometime afterward, I completely stopped talking for a number of months, and my parents never understood why. I have mentioned it to a psychiatrist and he said it was common among young children that are introduced to new environments and/or languages.

Another update...

She has been diagnosed as having a problem with her co-ordination centre due to either damaged brain cells or unformed nerve endings. So its not just speech ...although she has sky-rocketed in her speech progress...but her Gross motor and fine motor skills are not upto her age level. I have been taking her for occupational therapy and have seen some progress. She has problems jumping (becomes stiff when landing) cannot cycle and even running she looks unstable and un-coordinated (although she does not fall). Oh I do hope she will be able to fit in with kids her age...she is such a happy enthusiastic child. She really looks longingly at other kids jumping on the bouncing castle and although she can join them, she is not confident enough and needs to hold onto something and jump.

It's not rare, and she may just need to learn at her own pace. With the necessary support and practice, I believe she'll do just fine. Sounds like a little sweetheart. I hope everything works out for you and your daughter.

Hmm, I like the name Yusuf/Josef...which apparently in Hebrew means something like, "to increase" or "enlarge".

I also like the name Yacub/Jacob...which, again in Hebrew, means something like, "held by the heel".

God has made it clear that they were preferred over others during that time, as they were least likely to corrupt the faith of submission compared to other people in that era. The corruption into Judaism began during the Rabbinic era, when the Talmud, their version of Sunnah and Hadith (Misha and Gemara), was composed. I believe that the Torah was also corrupted during this period.

What about God's "chosen people" of Israel? Could it be argued that they counted as superior?

The fact that it's interesting and draws links to prophet Muhammad has some meaning to us.

Indeed it's interesting, and I, myself, have a deep interest in all religions and philosophies. Still, I question whether this supposed link to Prophet Muhammad really has any meaning to us because of the Quran's reference to paganism. The scriptures itself are in question because of their uncertain validity.

In philosophy one of the criticisms for the existence of God was that Whether God exists or not, it means nothing to us hence reflecting on God is pointless.

Could you provide a specific reference which uses that criticism? Another example in philosophy is Pascal's Wager which leans more to the opposite of that criticism.

The example you used is not the same as what I said about the Hindu scriptures, btw. I was merely questioning it's meaning and importance, and provided my reason. It's my fault for not being more clear, so I apologize for that. When I said "whether it's true or not", it was in reference to the scripture, and not the prophecy itself. I question the scripture, not the prophecy. As posted by dc2, it's uncertain whether these scriptures are considered valid because of the possibility that they may have been altered after the time of Prophet Muhammad. I already reject the prophecy because I don't believe in Hinduism. I hope that makes sense...

I don't disagree with reflecting, and the results may vary. It could end up meaning nothing or as you said, it could be benefiting or useful. The question is, how can it be benefiting or useful and to whom? What if we give these scriptures meaning and value, then what? Maybe it would encourage Hindus to accept Islam or maybe would it just lead to a validation of this pagan religion and therefore contradict with the Quran? I'm just wondering hypothetically.

From what you've written, you seem to have quite an interesting history and spiritual journey through which I assume has reasonably gained you great life lessons. Congratulations in recovering from your drug habits. I suppose it may depend on a person's situation but I believe it takes a lot of courage and strength to follow a path of seeking spiritual enlightenment or salvation. May God bless you with the answers you're searching for. I only hope to accomplish as much knowledge about world theology in my lifetime as you have, as it would help me form a better understanding and comparison of Islam/Quran with other religions. I'm sure you have much insight and wisdom to offer in the forum discussions and I look forward to it.

i pray that we are not creating new sect(s) in this forum. as for me, i don't go with labels like quranism, quranist, quran aloners, etc.

i believe in God alone & i try very hard to follow all his commands as embodied in the confirming scripture the quran. how people try to box me into their convenient labels is something that i have to live with & to live by. God is enough as my witness on how i struggled to look for His straight path and God willing, i know i will succeed.

So if fabricating labels possibly creates new sects, I guess the best term to identify ourselves with can only be found in the Quran itself. Wouldn't it make sense, since the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) are already identified in the Quran? I'm not completely sure if the title Muslim fits, for reasons that can be found in the example of this thread<a href="http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9597558.0">Never Say " I am a Muslim!"</A>.... but maybe Mumin or Muslimun comes close....?

Hmm, I've heard this before, about the possibility of Hindu scriptures foretelling the prophecy of Prophet Muhammad.

Whether it's true or not, what would it mean to us? Would it matter? Isn't Hinduism a pagan religion, and therefore considered false according to the Quran?

Where to begin...

I was born in a non religious Sunni family and growing up the only thing I knew about Islam was the Kalimah. At the age of fifteen, 9/11 occurred and my curiosity to Islam was sparked. I was eager to learn about this seemingly scandalous religion, and of course all my explorations originally led me to bias, lies and corruption. It was either Islamophobic sources that misinterpreted the Quran or Islamically fundamental sources that misinterpreted the Quran. Thank God that at the tender age of my mid teens I did not sway to either side. I did my own research and focused on what I found to be more reliable sources and Quranic translations. I saw the truth for what it was and so I believed.

From then on I only accepted the Quran as absolute truth. It was the word of God after all.

At first, I didn't know what Hadiths were or even Sunnism and Shiasm. I joined an MSA and fellow "Muslims" helped me form a basic understanding about Hadiths and the different Islamic sects. These topics were brought up in various discussions and debates. In addition to doing my own research, the more I learned, the more confused I became. I couldn't comprehend those belief systems because it simply didn't make sense to me. Both Sunnis and Shias have attempted influencing me to their religious sect, and I was always turned off by some of their religious claims and rituals which I found to be fanatical, contradictory, complicated or strenuous (according to the Quran, there is no compulsion in religion 2256)...I questioned the validity and authenticity of hadiths and chose not to identify myself with any particular sect. As for most of these "Muslims" I encountered, I noticed they had a distorted belief of religious concepts with cultural traditions. In addition, the more religious they claimed to be, the more hypocritical they turned out to be. I won't go into detail, but I was more or less repulsed and therefore distanced myself from them.

For years I've relied solely on the Quran for authentic Islamic knowledge and simply referred to myself as a Muslim. It was merely days ago that I realized there was an entire movement that shared similar beliefs to my own. Ironically enough, I was browsing a Shia forum that was criticizing a site about "Quranism" that led me to this forum...and here I am, a self proclaimed believer of Quran alone.

Only those are Believers/ Al-Muminoona who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and HAVE NEVER SINCE DOUBTED (IN THE QURAN), but have striven with their belongings and their persons in the Cause of Allah. Such are the sincere ones,
