Amana does mean more than to merely accept but to realize yourself in that acceptance. And you are wrong in your statement that I do not use any sources such as lexicons. It is that I do not blindly accept definitions as accurate or definite but that they can contain bias and distortion. You need more than only base your research on those sources you state and you easily become biased. I have found few words that I have been able to define that have no trace of that understanding in classical dictionaries. It is only that Arabic words have only one meaning and not a sea of meanings. The aim is to narrow those down and pinpoint what the real meaning is. Sometimes the definitions are not right either but the true definition is something like the one in a classical dictionary. For example means to be determined about something. Many translators occasionally translate it as determination as well, but they often choose command which is wrong. The word can refer to a consensus within a group or an individual decision. And the Arabic language is clearly working out of innate letter meanings which means you can have those as a backup at trying to "calibrate" biased meanings or finding the right definition of an entirely distorted word. It is an invaluable tool. And the clear sign of that is in chapter 38 and 68 which begin with a sole letter and an obvious conjunction (&#1608. Salaam

Say That which ALaah hath is better than amusement and than trading , and Allah is the Best of providers} The verses above is mainly speaking about the call to Salaah from the day of assembly for trading , the concept of trading in a appointed day is very common in ancient civilization and still for today , they call then "the weekly market " in our place still for today every community or region have a appointed day for trading, every trader bring the goods and the store to be fixed in early morning , once the market ( souq &#1602 is finished the trader takes his store with him. So the point is that people when they went for trading in ordinary market they woke up early to fixe the store and place their goods also people come to that assembly for trading from other regions and villages so they woke up early . Notice the verse say { from The day of Al-jum"ah/ assembly } The word "Al-jum"ah" was mentioned with AL which is referring to a known day to them , the word Al-Salaah also with AL which mean its known to them , it's not about a new commande regarding a new version of Assalaah , the verse is speaking about the same Salaah , and it's time Miqaat to be rised up in is also already known along with its timing Mawqet . The commande in that verse is about instructing them to not ignore the same known call for the same known Ssalaah in the same known time when they assemble in the appointed known day for trading The word "Idha / When " in { - } 62-09 {O ye who believe! When the call is heard for the Salaah from the day of Al-jumu"ah , haste unto the Dhikr of ALaah and leave Seals (Al-bay"a &#1593 That is better for you if ye did but know.} In Arabic tongue "Idha / When " mentioned in 62-09 is always referring to something that happen most usually and inevitably will happen unless the word " If " , so this mean that the verse is talking about a very usual common Call for Sallah it happen very often . The day of Al-Jumu"ah is not an exception from that point , the only exception in that day is the assembly for trading . Note Dhikr of ALaah in 62-09 is refering to some of the Qur'aan attribut , see for reference 38-01

Quranically, one has to be responsible for their own actions, desires and thought patterns/intentions (3044). Its much more complicated then that. PeAcE Can you at least expand on this? Do you hold a solipsistic quran? Don't get me wrong, the notion of one having to be responsible for their own actions desires and thought patterns and intentions is a paradox we all find hard to digest, but I think most do adhere at least because of the proven book. But I take it a step further and I think that the Quran offers a solution for this philosophical conundrum and that is the idea of compatibilism.

from Hawk99 Salat is a devotional act of the heart, some feel it, some do not, If you do not feel the need then abstain from salat, but be honest about it, and say "you" get nothing from it, or produce prohibitions against making salat. It is not the command of salat but the definition of salat we are discussing. Does Quran give us any details of ritual salat? Messenger are you when you do not need to prove it. Read the Biblical narratives of Jesus when he never says to the public that he is a prophet, but he waits until the person utters "You are a prophet!". There is no reason to argue who is a prophet/messenger or not because that will become obvious for the ones with ability to understand. Using the prophet/messenger terminology shows the worldly perception of people and that they always seek something concrete rather than abstract. People never do with abstract signs. To put it simply, none of us know who will be harmed or not, we can only at best guess, and Allah has the power to harm or give pleasure to anyone or anything.

There is something very attractive about the "I am Ahmed" sentiment. His death received pretty much an "honorable mention" in the mainstream press. I guess I should be impressed that one Muslim got attention for doing something that wasn't seen as subversive or extremist. I understand that I will not ever be able to appreciate fully a point of view that is not American, but I do try and think about what it must be like to not have had my advantages. (Maybe that in itself is too American). I think that I understand how people from other countries and cultures could feel oppressed and how that can change the way one thinks. But I lack the ability to make it okay in my mind that people could celebrate mass murderers, as, apparently, some Pakistanis felt obliged to do -- and American media felt obliged to present. I will also admit that on the night it was broadcast that Osama bin Laden had been killed, and they showed Americans celebrating in the streets, I felt ashamed. I was not a bin Laden fan, but it seemed that the death of a human being deserved a bit more decorum. I think we are desensitized to the humanity and dignity of others. It makes me sad. We do everything from a distance and do not understand human impacts. We dehumanize each other to make it okay to hurt each other. Shameful.
