Thank you for that post. In fact we all know that there are good men that do not match the male authority scheme, who realise that their best quality is that of service to their family and their society, because service is the most spiritual grade that can be attained. But of course, when you are told that you are on top of the world it is hard to realise that the top of both worlds for a human being is service, and that whatever power one ever holds in his or her hands, it is blessed if it is used for service, but for damnation if it is to be served. I have known that kind of men in my family and that is, I think the reason that I am not easily cheated into the male authority myth and trap. Males (and females too) gain authority and respect by serving, by being truthful, dedicated, courageous, not by saying you must obey because I am so and so. Those faithful men attain to honour in this world and in the next. And they exist. No many, because men are not encouraged to such things, but they exist and are an honour for human kind. You see, For the Truth, you learnt to be a feminist from a great woman, I have learnt it from a great man. Alhamdulil-lah and thank God their children bless them and God blessed them. Yes saying it out loud under all circumstancies may sound clumsy and make somebody look at you like you came right out of some cavern. In Spain, mostly catholic back then I remember still a time where nobody would say anything as to the future without mentioning, if God wills, or by Gods doing or something of the kind. In fact in letters, it was always written and there was a coined abreviation for it, D.m. (Dios mediante). This last expression, to say aloud is less attention attracting than the whole if God wills, which back then, as I say, was the most common thing to say. I think that provided we do know and say it inwardly we will be doing ourselves a favour. Outwardly, I think it is a matter of adjudging what is best in each case. If we are going to get the wrong attention, then it may be better to be circumspect. I can't say that I have a rule for this, I go by the feeling of it. Salaam

Salaam, Thanks hafeez, that gave me a new thought about the mosque. I remember the verse where it says about retreating to a mosque must indicate that it can be used to live and sleep at that location. And the verse that says dress nicely for the mosque also says eat and drink moderately in the same verse. There is a pattern here. It is like a monk abbey. It seems to be a place you go to stay a while to purify yourself. Also sex seems to be prohibited in a mosque when you inhabit the place probably independent of how long you stay there. Fits well with a place you aim at purifying yourself. And I see a connection between this and the portrayal of Buddhist monks going up to a temple in the mountains to just meditate and cleanse their minds from impurities. It feels like this is the true purpose of the mosque more than only go there for a quick soon-be-over prayer. However, the Friday prayer indication gets in the way for this theory unless it means something else. But I am sure the Mosque is for more than only prayer activity but also meals, gatherings and sleeping. One good reason to go to a mosque must be to disconnect yourself from daily life and worries and instead meditate and purify yourself and perhaps have spiritual talks/discussions. The mosques I visited in Iran barely none of them were open more than during the prayer sessions except some pilgrimage mosques but they were pretty crowded with people who wanted to idolize the Imams and their families. However, I visited a nearly 1000 year old mosque and it contained rooms which might indicate that it was inhabited in periods. The building also resembled more of a sort of church than a mosque only with the roof like a typical mosque. After reading ayman's thread, a source said if Hijr Calendar exist during Umar's Caliphate, years after Phrophet's died and revelation of the Quran. But according to Ahadith, Hijr Calendar created by Umar during Nabi's hijrah from Makkah to Madinah. But I don't care about this, coz this thread not about this. The situation in the world today is shaped by geopolitics, war, business, and then a mixture of culture and religion can come into play. To say that Islam is a big contradition is missing the precise vocabularly required to deal with this topic. It's not Islam, its humans, its a set of factions. This has gone on since humans began. The way the hadiths are used even - there is still an issue of corruption there. I do not follow hadith and there are many that go against the Quran, but hadith can still be misused like any other text. Well if people were to research Islam independently the first thing they come across is the Quran. I have come across non-Muslims who say they never heard of the hadith at first and they only read the Quran to find out more. So some of the first ideas they can come across is oneness of God, mercy of God, etc. Everyone also has the opportunity to understand that God is uncreated etc as well via observation of the world/universe around them, as did Abraham. If they do their own research, they could also question why Hadith are followed when you take a look at what the Quran says. yes it is humans and not religion...but it seems as if humans serve to be the mascot of Islam. we are all the representatives of what we claim to follow/believe in(whether we are following that thing in the correct way or not). well when i converted I had heard of hadith but i thought that it was an extension of the Quran...but when I read more I learned that it was a separate entity however that led to even more confusion for me. the sisters who were helping me to transition to Islam said the same things as you SupportPeace,,,follow the religion not the people,,,well unless you are a strong willed individual, (especially as a convert) it is very intimating to be in a social group...say at the Masjid, and being told to do this and do that and not to say this but to say this instead...especially when those people have good intentions and just want to help you to learn all the many many rules involved with Islam (at least from their point of view). and who wants to have been an outsider in their former religion only to come to a new one with so many expectations only to find out it is the same man-made circus and they will have to be an outsider all over again? it is not fun. and yes i know religion are man made things but for lack of another word to use to describe the dogmas and rules and regulations inside a set of beliefs i just say religion. anyway my original point is that i really cant expect someone in my family or my friends or just random people i have conversation with to understand that Islam is really not what it seems to be, because no matter where you turn you are confronted with one type of dogma or another. the only way to understand is to discover it and explore it for yourself. and even then you will be confronted with people who will patronize you and even condemn you for what you think ...Im in the U.S and i find this to be a lonely journey... i cant even imagine the hardships other Quran alone muslims in Islamic countries must be going through. And believe me I am the most introvert person you will ever meet and i dont even like to be bothered with people, but on topics regarding your soul it is nice to know if you are really on the right track or not. anyway thanks God for this site and all of you

If you do plan to continue, I would personally love to learn how to read words, maybe using common vocabulary from the Qur'an. If not, do not worry. God bless you Salam Man of Faith , He was banned for one week , and then he was banned for one months , if you look at the forum rules you will see the future scenario , he will be banned permanently as there is no other limited ban . I am just wondering When he will be banned permanently , is that mean he will never enter paradise ?

Salaam, The so-called Law is the guidelines set out by God. In historical records you can have the example with Jesus in the Gospels testimonies in the New Testament part of the Bible who used the revelation to Moses to teach/preach the creed of God, but not by like a robot interpret what was in the set of "commandments" but rather with customization of them. He used the concept "God's pen does never run out of ink" while following the Message's guidelines. So has the other Messengers too, I just took the example of Jesus because it is one of the more detailed ones. God has allowed us to live our lives and not being copycats of Muhammad or Jesus or any other Messenger that ever lived. They can be role-models in regards of conduct, but other than that we need to form our own lives. We can be righteous and we can discover about God on our own. Do you think that I wholeheartedly believed in the stories of the Bible (Tanakh and Gospel) or Qur'an when I became a Muslim? No, I did not because the sectarians had blackened my impression of them, but yet I was impressed by the tales contained within the Bible, particularly Jesus and his goodly character. And I was never convinced that Jesus was the son of God as this version of the story is pathetic. What "Islam" (or Qur'an) taught I did not know until much later. The Qur'an I did not read for the first time until 2009. There is not much of a distinct law, but more promises of being able to live in harmony if you follow guidelines set out by God. But it depends on how much you obey God or taking Him as Master. For a devout Believer you may talk about the utterances of God as commandments, but you do not have to necessarily see God as a ruthless dictator in spite of that. It is all voluntary, God has given us the option to follow Him or not, if God had wanted He could have forced everyone to believe, i.e. force everyone to abide by His system and "commandments" but He did not, and in that case we live quite free to choose. But to become God's ally it is best to become a friend of God and then you want to live up to His standards. The guidelines of Qur'an is just there to help you purify yourself that you may live up to God's standard. I will be so daring as to say if you know the Message you need no Bible and you need no Qur'an and you know that God's pen does never run out of ink. The key elements of our Faith is mindfulness of God and His world, and being righteous. And even a young youth under normal rearing conditions know how one is a good person. Also the Christian teachings live quite strong in the Western societies, people know what a good person is. It was a good reassurance for me to study the Qur'an after 2009, but so afterwards I must tell that I could have been a good Believer without it because I studied the previous scriptures and the Message and I grasped it. Qur'an contained immense Knowledge which I did not know before, but that was merely a bonus for me and I praise God for letting me know and it boosted my calm in my soul further. I regard the Qur'an as a guidebook, a bonus sent down from God as a mercy and a blessing, but it does not teach much new from the previous Message, mostly fine-tuning what is already with us. Qur'an gives us help to use our brains to be mindful of God and purify ourselves in various ways and God echo these words throughout the entire book while adding tips on how to accomplish this. As you can see the Believer is not expected to be much different from Jesus you can read about in the Gospel section of the New Testament of the Bible or the projected Muhammad in the narrated book itself. Using the brain you can see that all Messengers had their own particular personality and mindset and none was like the other except one specific goal and that was following the Message. Muhammad was not like Jesus, Moses was not like Abraham, etc. So should you be my dear reader, you should dare to have your own personality and you do not need to be following the Sunnah of Muhammad or exactly copying the portrayal of Jesus (who can be a Jesus anyways?). We can be inspired by their good example, but God should be our idol and God was their teacher. Be yourselves and be good and spent from your fortune to those who need and help the old lady across the street or other good and charitable work and you follow "God's Law", IF you are mindful of God and put your faith in Him. I see the same confusion in many of you as Jesus' contemporaries who were red tapists and could only study the Message very literally while missing the gist. God bless you

I've been doing some analytical thinking. Here we have people who claim to be Jews (most instances these people are known as Ashkanazi's). I know there are Sephardic Jews. But in this reference pertaining to the former. Maybe it's me, but looking at these people, they do not look Jewish in the least bit. Before going further, give me a clear answer on this question WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF A JEW? According to your opinion They all resemble Europeans. Which Europeans specifically? Or do you mean "Caucasian" in general? Well to the Chinese, the fair skinned Lebanese, Iraqi or Iranian doesn't look too much different with the French, to the Chinese they're all "GWAI LO" (Ghost People). To me, a Jew should look more like an Arab than a White European. Canaan region (today's Israel, Lebanon, Palestine, Western Jordan and Northern KSA) was ORIGINALLY inhabited by the NEANDERTHAL. The NEANDERTHAL were fair-skinned, colorful eyed and colorful haired (among them is red) people. Even as far as 2400 BC we still have reference from Egyptian and Sumerian tablet of a group of people called "AMORITE" or "AMURU" who were reported to be pale skinned, blond/red haired and blue eyed. And according to the book of Joshua, the Israelis (or should I say Egyptian??) settler coming from Egypt massacred many of the Amorite within the Canaan region. Most probably it was the Amorites who founded a city which is now being called as Jerusalem, before they were massacred by the Egyptian settler. And two thousand years of dispersion should not affect the appearance of any group of people. Help me with this, if anything possible.
