Salaam Haneen, Last thing what I couldnt accept was music-ban.If I asked- why? he could nt give satisfied ansver. Music ban is based on the following hadith Shahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 69, Number 494v Narrated Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari that he heard the Prophet saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection." And our reply should be ... 1059 Say, "Did you note how GOD sends down to you all kinds of provisions, then you render some of them unlawful, and some lawful?" Say, "Did GOD give you permission to do this? Or, do you fabricate lies and attribute them to GOD?"

Hello everyone. I recently converted to Islam. When I read the Koran for the first time, I took notice of how often we are reminded that the Koran is perfect. So much so, I'll admit that after a while I found it annoying. I'd smack my forehead and moan silently, "Yes, yes. The Koran is perfect. I. Get. It. Why does this need to be repeated every ten minutes?" Then I discovered hadiths, and it was all too clear why that message needed repeating. Because even after being told a zillion times that the Koran is perfect, some people still don't get it. brickwall Thank you for making this website and forum. It's been very helpful to me. ;D Welcome to the forums! I am not a Muslim, but a Baha'i. But Assalaamu Alaikum! and Allah-u-Abha! (God is the Most Glorious) However, I came on this site to know more about the Glorious Qur'an and know it in its spiritual than literal meanings, free from the sectarian dogmatism of Sunni, Shia, Sufi, Wahhabi and other thoughts. Although I am a Baha'i, I still have problems accepting hadiths, because of the multitude of them and how the Qur'an is 'complete' and free from extra-Qur'anic sources. The hadiths are used to 'prophecy' Lord Baha'u'llah's coming, but I believe that the Qur'an alone is sufficient instead. We don't need extra-Qur'anic sources to understand the Qur'an, nor do we need extra-Biblical sources for the Bible, nor extra-Tanakh resources for the Tanakh! God's Words are perfect and without blemish, and to abuse and pervert the true meanings of God is to pervert God Emself. "O my friend, were the bird of thy mind to explore the heavens of the Revelation of the Qur?an, were it to contemplate the realm of divine knowledge unfolded therein, thou wouldst assuredly find unnumbered doors of knowledge set open before thee. Thou wouldst certainly recognize that all these things which have in this day hindered this people from attaining the shores of the ocean of eternal grace, the same things in the Muhammadan Dispensation prevented the people of that age from recognizing that divine Luminary, and from testifying to His truth." Lord Baha'u'llah, the Baha'i Writings (Kitab-i-Iqan) I hope you like it here, and that it will deepen your understanding of following the Qur'an alone for God. ) Kevyn.

But I couldnt give up on God. I still believed in him. With fury, I had defended my stance against Hadeeth for its lack of infallability. I said, how can you say that the Word of God is not enough!! (this is before I found this site, by the way). Just who is this Bukhari person and why wasnt his Hadeeth mentioned in the Quran if we are to follow it? Why are there so many Haraams that cannot be justified by the Quran, if the Quran was brought for all people of all times and GUARANTEED Word of God? I began to think there was something wrong with me if I chose the Quran over the Hadeeth. But I don't anymore. I feel at peace. I feel less restricted and more able to follow what God has set down for me. I'm just thankful and hopeful that I can start my new journey in discovering exactly what this mysterious book contains. I hope I am following the right course, God willing. peace sis Deena when i read such posts i find peace thx Deena for passing by May GOD lead u and be always with u

Peace Phoenix Thanks for sharing. Yea I agree salat does keep you disciplined. I just can't get myself to do them. I also had a dream when i was a child of seeing everyone in hell and i was screaming for someone to help me it was quite frightening and i had a dream about visiting the kaba. i looked under the curtain and saw all this silver and gold writing and i was saying all these words in arabic that i dont recognize . i was crying like crazy as i ran my hands over the gold and silver imprints of ayat going around the kaba slowly crying and saying something. and i heard echoes of others around me saying the same words . i also thought when i was really young that God was this huge mass of smoke sort of shaped like a human but not really cuz its just smoke and he has a smile and is always laughing D astaghfurullah God forgive me but i was just a kid

As salamu alaykum. Respectfully. I was born in a family that came from Bosnia to Slovenia in 1969. My parents were muslims, sunnis but when all of thsoe sunnis came to Slovenia, they somehow abandoned religion and i realised many years alter that they came here, not because Islam was extremely oppressed in Yugoslavia because of the communist regime, but they all came here for economic reasons. I wa always afraid of some strange force bigger then me. I knew that certain things were just not allowed and i somehow thought that if i drank beer or smoked, i'd be punished, i didn't know by whom or by what or how and when but i knew there was something out there. My parents didn't teach me about Islam but the basics. I knew there wwere like 5 prayers a day, fasting, Hajj, charity, be good, don't kill and such. But then i started to pray and once i learned most about Islam and i started reading Quran, more and more question appeared. I wanted to know where Paradise is, how to avoid Hell and such questions gave birth to my insomnia. I wondered what this life is, why am i here. I checked the internet, i copied dozens and dozens of pages, i printed endless pages on Islam, i researched, i studied hard and in 2004 i ran into www.quran-islam.org and then i relaized that Islamj is not what one sees on CNN or any other programme. I started bigger research. I stopped going to the local mosque because they hanged pictures of Ka'aba in the direction where we pray and i wondered how that could be because we, muslims, always preached that there shouldn't be ANY pictures in the mosque. The imam told me that a photo of a Ka'aba is okay. Then i seiously stopped going to the mosque and only go sometimes because i discovered that praying with people who mention Muhammad in their prayer is just like if i went to church and prayed with them. Now, my mother was a sunni but then she quit Islam but not completely, she is committing a shirk and wants me to do the same which is why i hurried and made a mistake when i didn't get the entry visa when i entered the States on January this year. I wanted to leave the apartment but i can't find a job that quickly because even when they pay you good, there's no time to pray and i can't sell my religion for a good-payed job, you know? I mean, i can get a job within a second, really, i can go to the city right now and get a job by the end of the day. But then i wouldn't be allowed to pray at work and it's really hard when i come home and have to pray in total secrecy. My brother watches the door while i pray and then we change. That's why i got deported. I hurried, i wasn't patient enough and now i have not only wait but i have to be even more patient then ever before. It's hard,y es, but i'm stuck here and it's probably all my fault. I'll have to deal with it. I'm waiting for my lawyer in San Francisco to get my case going. I hope this won't take much time. I can't stay in Slovenia, i can't, i'm afraid i might become a bad muslim, this forum is the only interesting thing i got and if i don't leave, .... i don't know. I don't wanna stay here, that's for sure, that's all i know. I know that i sound a little too depressed, too dramatic but i guess i can only blame myself. If you brothers and sisters can pray openly, be grateful to Allah Almighty for that. You have no idea what a blessing it is when you can pray without watching when your mom will eject you out of the apartment if she caught you. My story i longer but i don't wanna steal space or time. God Bless you all. As salamu alaykum. Salaam Alen Alen there may be 100 of peoples who work same as u n they work n earn their money without praying at certain times yet there life is not hell yet they dont feel anything bad about it,dont u think u r in a prision which has no physical walls but it restricts u from being free, how can a God made system make u,r life so mesrible n instead of being peacefull u feel discomfort

Salam to everyone here My story begins with my being born in a Sunni family living in Karachi. Coming from a humble background, life was tough. I very quickly realized that it was the survival of the fittest. I learnt from my siblings that a good education is necessary to lead a successful life. I being the youngest had good examples in front of me. Religion was not an area of discussion at home. We used to pray five times a day at home and go to mosque on Fridays. I learnt to recite quran in Arabic from my mother and from a girl living nearby. That was all the religion taught to me by my parents. At school it wasn?t a different story. Islamiat was taught to me as a subject there from class 5-12 and for bachelor?s degree. Students were required to memorize some Surahs from quran in Arabic. Basic concepts like oneness of God, finality of profithood, five pillars of Islam, seven aqaid of Islam etc were taught. In class 9- 10 some 20 hadiths were also memorized with translation and explanation. it looked more like a tolerant religion to me. There was nothing taught relating to hijab, beard, prohibition of making paintings and statues and other controversial topics. I knew some topics were controversial. I however didn?t know why they were controversial. It mattered very little to me as I always had other things on my mind like how to get admission in the college of my choice and which career to choose. Father used to be on work for much part of the day and when he got home didn?t have time to teach religion to us. My mother and sister observe hijab. i never questioned them about why they did it. There was a copy of bahisti zeevar (by ashraf ali thanvi) at home which mom and dad used to read. They never asked me to read. So with time we (the children) got our religious values from whereever we wanted. i start following my role model MA Jinnah( quaid-e-azam). Moreover, whatever I saw ppl doing on media ( we had only PTV) I thought it okay to do. Growing up, I realized that there were sects in religion. However, again I didn?t think it my cup of tea to find out which one is following the truth. The only thing I knew was that shia were kafir ( my dad told me this). Did my matric with good marks. Went to the best govt college in karachi - adamjee. After that I am now studying to become a chartered accountant. Now father has retired from his job. He is home all day. His favorite topic is religion. i just recently learnt that my father's maternal grand father was an ahl-e-hadith and my grand father a wahabi. Now my father is following in their footsteps. Overnight he grew a beard and started going to mosque regularly, started reading a fundamentalist newspaper (Daily Ummat). wahabi publications ( direct from saudi arabia) can be found at home, making life difficult for my sister. She read from them that 'eyebrow plucking is haram'. She very proudly told me this when i was looking at a fashion model on TV. I though it very stupid of mullahs to declare such a thing haram. I probed into the books and found a hadith related the issue. My real encounter with the hadith based islam began when i accidentally visited a salafi website www.islam-qa.com I was shocked to see the kind of islam there. I found myself by every mean a murtid there and my role model Jinnah can rather be called a Kafir-e-Azam (simply because of his lifestye and way of thinking). I tried to discuss things with father and he almost 100% agreed with the website. Though during his entire life, I never saw him practicing those things. He was at least not a fundamentalist. It was a 'fight or flight' situation. I chose to fight. I refused to accept that Islam. As I surfed more religious sites, I came across various brands of islam. Fom muqalid to non-muqalid. A little moderate (islamcity.com) to hard line fundamentalist (islam-qa.com). Eventually I came across Akberally Meherally's page www.mostmerciful.com. He really changed my way of thinking forever. I love free-minds.org. I don?t like this site just because it preaches a religion of convenience. I rather appreciate the rational principals on which it is based. This site appeals to reason rather than emotion and rather than relying on questionable history, it argues on the basis of divine revelation and logic. I am still searching. Javed Ahmed Ghamidi's ideas also appeal to me. He accompolished the great feat of getting Hadood Ordinance ammended. However, I am still unable to satisfy my desire for the purest form of religion. May Allah lead me to the right path. Amen. Truth Seeker wut is the purpose of u,r search is it to prove that whether u or u,r father is right or wahabisi is right or wrong or simply to search for god will a book be able to guide u in u,r day to day affairs or to follow u,r god given conscious to be free

Until two years ago I was officially sunni muslim, as most of the muslims here where I live are. Just untill 1999 most of us had very little knowlegde of sunni or shia practices of Islam in Arab countries, so we didn't realy follow so called prophet's sunna and hadith. Being situated in Europe had that effect on us. After the war in '99 many Arab NGOs came here in order to help rebuild the country, bringing with them books and teachings of the sect they belonged. A relative of mine, until then also very liberal, came very hard on us with his new vision of Islam he picked up from one of these NGOs. It was a huge change, moving from the way he was to an extreme understanding of Islam. And it was OK for me until he started bombing me with silly hadiths of Talking trees, Angels not entering bathrooms, forbiden music, short pants, killing apostates and stuff. Not really having a lot of knowledge of Kuran and Islam I was in no position to argue with his hadith. And then I decided to read the Kuran myself and see wether he's crazy or I have gone so much astray. It took me six months of reading and reading from both sides to finaly realise that God doesn't need men to fill in his "imperfect, not so clear" word according to sunnis and shia's. I still have doubts about certain things but surely I am not going to ask help from hadiths. I think the answers are there, within the Kuran, we just need to look harder. u have test u,r faith according to Kuran n here r u now its time to test Kuran with logic welcome to the new world muscle

After discovering Islam almost 2 years ago and putting myself through a living hell I just yesterday discovered this site. I feel ashamed to complain about the pain I've experienced trying to follow the mainstream Islamic way with all the real suffering in the world, but I was on the brink of insanity. I had almost given Islam up to re-center myself. I then just decided to trust my instincts. I mean God says that he doesn't intend to make this hard for us. But any of you, like myself, who are American-born converts knows how almost impossible it is to do everything "right". I seriously started making myself sick over it. Not to mention getting caught up in a relationship with a man who was born Muslim. Like an idiot I believed that because he was raised Muslim he knew wrong from right. There are still times when I panic that I am headed in the wrong direction. But for now I have to keep my sanity. I am trying to find the truth of what "obey the messenger" really means. If I didn't find numerous contradictions within some of the Hadith I have read I would definitely take it as meaning what the mainstream believes. There is just too much that doesn't make sense. I have to trust that if I allow God to lead me, He will. I'm glad I've discovered this website. Peace and love to you all. Salaam Lily u r using man made methods to reach god,n u will be loss into 1400or2000 years old logics. God has given u conscious use it,its the guidance from God,it stops u when u do something bad ,it is satisfied when u do good wut more do u need u,r sanity is to stay in the world of today n not in ancient arabia or Jerusalem

A nice article have you written about your journey. Thanks. May God be with you, help you & support you as have God supported pious women throughout history. Worthy of mention would be God's mention about the Pharoah's wife who was an example mentioned by God the Almighty, Himself. Blessed be God, Lord and Sustainer of the Worlds. )

Peace sister muslimah22, Thank you for sharing your story, may The God guide us all to the straight path and help us to serve Him by submitting to His will. Welcome to the forum ! anyway please can someone tell me what they know in this topic because really i like to stay a moslem and do the right thing God willing, I will try to address and explain this topic. when i read the quran im peaceful but when i follow other than the quran immediately i feel uncomfortable. for example the one about hoires. sure it is mention in quran but not by number yet these hadiths say when the man is in junnah he wil have 72 hoires. really can anyone imagine allah will give this to the guy and make nothing for the girl? it makes me feel uncomfortable. The word "hoor" has been mistranslated in majority of the English translations of the qur'aan. The word "hoor" according to the context of usage in qur'aan and the classical Arabic dictionaries means pure/clear and has nothing to do with female virgins or big eyed female companions. In 5622 "hoorun aaeenun" has been wrongly translated as "wonderful companions" or "beautiful mates" whereas there is no Arabic word in that verse for companions or mates. "Hoorun" means pure/clear and "aaeenun" can mean either eye or spring of water. The translation "pure/clear eyes" makes no sense so the correct translation according to the context can only be "pure/clear springs". The reason a lot of people find male chauvinistic sexual connotations in some of the verses relevant to Paradise is because those verses have been deliberately and completely mistranslated by majority of the (male) translators. For example 5556 In them are attendants with a splendid look, unknown before by any human or Jinn. The correct translation is 5556 In them are best of fruits close by, untouched before by any human or Jinn. 5570 In them is what is good and beautiful. The correct translation is 5570 In them is goodness/benefits most excellent 5572 Companions, inside grand pavilions. The correct translation is 5572 Pure, confined in tents 5622 And wonderful companions The correct translation is 5622 And pure/clear springs 4454 So it is, and We coupled them with wonderful companions. The correct translation is 4454 So it is, and We granted/gave them pure springs 5220 They recline on arranged furnishings, and We coupled them with wonderful companions. The correct translation is 5220 They recline on arranged furnishings, and We granted/gave them pure springs 3852 And with them are attendants with a splendid look and of equal age. The correct translation is 3852 And with them are best of fruits close by and matching 3748 And with them are attendants with wide eyes and a splendid look. The correct translation is 3748 And with them are springs, close by/within close proximity 3749 They are like fragile eggs. The correct translation is 3749 Like crystal white, carefully guarded For in depth explanation of the above translations, I would encourage you to please check out the detailed article at the following link http//www.geocities.com/yaseen_q/hur-article.htm I would sincerely advise you to try to learn Arabic language so you can verify the true meanings of the qur'aanic verses and are thus able to arrive at the correct understanding of The God's revelations. Regards, Tanveer

Peace to you All, Salam Shirley, Great story. I also thought the same thing about the headscarf. I couldn't understand that God put so much hardship on women. Especially around summertime when it is hot outside. I'm glad you chose for God and ignored the criticism some of your "sisters" had. I think all Quran Aloners get/got that criticism. Just depend on God to help you build some inner strength. But I think He's already helping you, 'cause you seem to be a strong woman! peace Heart First I would like to say belief in God is my strength. I may struggle everyday with my imperfection, but don't we all. Thank you for your comment. mrhumble if you are a very strict hadith follower, then it is extremely difficult to socialize, i still suffer from this problem despite giving up hadith! because the hadith calls everybody kafir and fasique, basically if you are outside of islam. and basically, even 80% of the muslims do not qualify for the criterions of hadiths if you ask me. but the quran accepts all humanity and freedom of thought. the hadith limits your creativity, while the quran expands it, i have experimented the quran on to myself and applied some of its laws to reality and it's true! i gave up salat because i feel there is an alternative way to reach allah and contact him through nature... despite the fact that salat is prescribed in the quran. most of the quranic research has been conducted in the past 40 years so that is why quran alone is not quite very strong yet. sister, with quran alone, there will be ups and downs, pitfalls and trapholes, twisted logic and etc... just stay strong and go for the truth, the ultimate acheivement for all ALL MANKIND! not just a system! sorry if it is too much! That wasn't to much. Everyday since I have made my choice, I have been confronted with constant test and it is no from non-muslims it's the other way around. When I read the Quran I feel supported by what God says. I am convinced because he tells us that this book is complete and fully detailed it's like that one spaghetti commercial says," IT"S IN THERE!" ;D I have taken on this journey and accept that it is not meant for me to grasp and know everything over night it is a gradual progression like life. And yet, I should also keep in mind that God reaveals what he wants to whom he want depending on their rank angelseriousness in wanting to know the truth and honestly searching) of understanding. Not everybody is going to get it at the same time. I am happy and content. I trust in what God, the Almighty says. And no matter how many times some one ask certain question that they go to their hadith to answer, I can think of so many verses that tells me to be patient and to call on God and he has revealed this Quran over time so do not hasten the meanings or seek other books as judge or law, when it is concerning what God has revealed. I don't want a quick fix. I want to sincerely grow. I want God to teach me through his revelation. I have learned quite a bit, but it is not for me to debate because we are not all on the same page. I don't look at the questions that are asked of me by hadith followers as a problem. I see it as a opportunity to grow and further explore the Quran for God, The All Knowings answers. sun I see that hadith believers would love for you to admit that you do not know something or understand. I see that if you are being taught by the Most high, then you are to be secure and not jump to conclusions or take what someone is saying just to say that yo know what everyone else knows. Take your time. I have started from the beginning and I am secure with that. bravosun bravo Peace, shirley sun
