Questions/Comments on the Quran

As Salam Alykum I was wondering I looked for the word RAA GII MUN . I went through the Lane dictionary. Under the words RAA Geem Ya but I could not find that word. I also tried Hans Wehr Dictionary of Modern Written Arabic. I seem to understand the root system a little but not a lot. As far as I understand the root system it works something like this if I was looking for a word lets say "Alif Seen Miim" (name) I would look under Alif Seen Miim. But the problem is some of the words are not there. I looked up more information on Arabic root words and this is what I found "Maktaba" (library, literature) would be under "k-t-b". How would I learn which word goes under which root? I do not know much arabic I consider myself almost a beginner. Can someone please teach me away of understanding this root system??? pr That's roughly what your last 10 iterations also said.

Peace Nyma, I echo Lobster's thoughts here. We should not underestimate the influence of imagination. It is, afterall, the true catalyst of human behavior and progress, or lack thereof. But there is certainly a difference between imagination and mere thought, imo. We all have thoughts that just sort of appear in our minds. In recognizing the thoughts there is no harm or gain. However, it is when we take a thought and build upon it that it becomes our own doing. So, whether good or bad, we must acknowledge that we are completely in control of the direction we let our imaginations go. This is important, also, in respect to personal growth, overcoming trauma or fear, dealing with addictions, etc. When we are fully aware that we are in control of where we let our imaginations go, then we become aware of the true origin of our behaviors - and that is, our selves. The same exact event can slide off one person's back, and linger for years with someone else. What we rarely realize is that it's a choice. Peace, Tay

Although I don't think that insignifican dialectial pronunciations would have made a difference when people recited the Quran. For instance I don't think zirat was really pronounced like that on its own, but when followed by a vowel or vibrating fricative. Such slight differences in pronunication occur in every language and can be linguistically explained (but not by the simple minded). Well, here's thought. God's got to be the greatest poet of all right? i never cared for the idea that Mohammed spent years just blindly reciting, aware but not aware of what was being said. Parts of the Qu'ran are very personally directed toward him, and I tend to think that he had conversations as much as recitation. I mean God knows I'd be asking questions if I had a direct line to the big guy.

Here is an example of a lie though; ... the prophet didn't have any shadow because he was made of Noor/light and for those who don't believe it there is evidence available even now... just as the prophet didn't have a shadow so doesn't the dome of his mosque, ... the very same night (it was Ramadan) there was a program on TV about Islam and they were showing the mosque from a HELICOPTER and funny enough you could see the shadow in the film ... The next day i met the Imam by chance and asked him what the hack , this is what i saw. His answer Brother we teach what we have been taught. I've read and heard other silly things like that too. I know what you're talking about. I think you aught to follow your own common sense I agree with you here, 100%!

People are not rasul in general, but in a sense we are all rasuls to somebody else and anybody can be a rasul for us, even inadvertently. Some truths have been taught to us by people, even without them being conscious they were teaching us something. Life teaches us a lot of things sometimes brutally, some life in itself is a messenger to us. What happens is a message. Some we arrive to read and we are "inspired", some we don't. My interpretation of khatm annabiyin is that there wouldn't be any special message because to whoever believes the message sent through Muhammad would be able to get any inspiration needed by him or herself or through other people or events. It is in a sense as if the tap of inspiration hd been turned on forever for us as long as we are faithful. Salaam

I am actually reading a chapter about God's communication with man in this book, but I dont think it will address that specific verse. If I can, I will scan & upload some of it.

Peace all, The F-Word is really difficult for me. I do not find it offensive, however it is such a "charged" word that sometimes I feel discomfort hearing it being said left right and centre. Maybe there are other people who get uncomfortable as well? just my 2-cents.

A vision or a visionary dream is not a closed and exclusive message, but a symbolic message and it tells what we may be able to understand of it. Those who have more understanding or a kind of understanding will extract a certain meaning, other people will extract a meaning that may be different from the first, and all of them may be consistent with each other. A good spiritual message is usually very rich as to the meanings that can be gained from it. The open the heart and the mind and keep them open.
