Thanks for clarifying. For me, the simplified "1 in 2" chance does not give enough credit to the quality/content of the info/claim. The figure of 1 in 262144 implies many today could come out with that type of info AND get nothing wrong, when I would say it would be difficult to find just one person. In fact, has there been any scientist in history who has acheived similar to this? Second part - even if these people said anything about the quran, it lends no weight to the quran itself. Let the book stand up on its own (which it does quite well). For it to stand up on its own, people have to read it first! I did not write the article to prove The Quran, although I can see how one might think that. It was primarily written to offer a unique/interesting approach to The Quran, to gain a foothold in the reader's mind, to make them think "hmm, this book might be interesting, maybe I should read it".

Peace again, I firgot to mention in yet another lecture he states that "masjid al-aqsa" actually refers to the mosque supposedly built by Muhammad in Medina. Besides this he carries out salat, ramadan, hajj and umra in the traditional way(dont know whether he also kisses the black stone or no). The only exception is with Zakat which he interprets as justification and claiming that the charity(sadaqa), which is PART of Zakat according to him, should be 1/5th or 20% according to the following Quranic verse You should know that any GHANIM, one-fifth shall go to GOD and the messenger, to be given to the relatives, the orphans, the poor, and the traveling alien. You will do this if you believe in GOD and in what we revealed to our servant on the day of decision, the day the JOINT DEAL BETWEEN THE TWO PARTIES(JAMA'AAN). GOD is Omnipotent. GHANIM besides meaning spoils of war can also mean any profit/gain. He does not understand this as war booty since he emphasises already that the Quran doesnt promote physical warfare at all. Peace, There are sunni, shia dictionaries? Never seen any (maybe the glossaries in religious texts might count as that). I know there are religious meanings that the dictionaries (being fair and objective to the Classical Araibc language and its continued use after the Quran) include. These religious meanings (really just interpretations and not meanings) of certain words are opinions of Islamic scholars which came to be used widely in the Islamic world. Such meanings are Islam as submission to God (this is a Shafi' (and hence sunni) meaning of the word,) Zakat as a poor tax is another invented scholarly meaning, Salat as only the ritual Islamic prayer (and not Christian, Animists or Jewish ritual prayers), and dua as any prayer not ritually done like Islamic salaat are also other religious interpretations. What is wrong is when we read these religious interpretations (which are scholarly opinions and not meanings) into the Quran. When we look at a dictionary, despites the few meanings like these which are really religious interpretations, we see what the word really means and these interpretations are ususally classified within the dictionary as being Islamic law or philosophical jargon and those who coined them are often quoted as well as their opinions using these words. Peace, I just want to make the record clear that the word can also mean elephant but not only elephant. And that is only what I am trying to help others understand. In my actual text I include footnotes making clear the traditional understandings and also putting forth other valid meanings of any particular Quranic passage. I wouldn't say that if the meaning of a root of a word doesn't fit into every Quranic context in that meaning that there is no reason to understand it in a context where it can be understood. I think that both can be validly understood, and that the Quran is full of verses that have historical meanings but also have meanings that transcend time, all possible within that particular passage. There is no need to make life, or the Quran black and white when reality can be many different colors, as long as we are using good logic, sound understandings and sound knowledge (in this case within a Classical Arabic language context and a language context period (understanding things like context, and the use of generalities, absolutes and connecting ideas within the context of any speech written or spoken). Divergence in opinions will never lead to anything coherent. How can there be unity if no one agrees with each other? Who says that everyone has to agree for there to be unity? there are numerous different denominations of Christians, but they call each other Christian. There are different branches of Buddhism, and yet, they still call each other Buddhists. If someone believes in something, and another person believes in something else, as long as the persons involve don't cause problems - who cares?

simple, In my previous message I pointed out it wasn't a case of grammar. Also, you ignored what I wanted you to clarify. Let me explain- when you want to translate between two language ,as i see, the only way is to comprehend the message and then translate it so in English you say " with gods help" in Urdu you say " Allah ki maddad se" the English has three words and Urdu has four. Sometimes you may be adding words or subtracting words and to argue over things which don't change the overall message is a waste of time. Grammer doesn't matter the message does. Just think if the wording changed to "with Joe's help" Why would finding the meanings of words help you if you are happy to ignore letters in the Arabic Quran? Although I agree with the interpretation, but I am uncomfortable with the justification that lead to it. I mean, her reason why it can't be "beat them" is that the prophet did not beat his wives! Such weak justification can easily backfire with a "Perhaps because he did not "fear their nushooz"!

yes, i believe He does. consider the sending of the Zabur (Psalms) to David. the spirit of God's inspiration touched the author, and he was sent the beautiful verses and hymns collected there from. as guides and signs. i think it is dangerous and very limiting to equate the truth of God to a text, as some Christians do. case in point, a dear friend who is a conservative Baptist and his approach to the Bible.
