Peace Boost, I agree with everyone's thoughts thus far. I would add only that compassion and true understanding via sympathy pave the clearest path, imo, to true forgiveness. We are often humbled by the motivations of others, if only we look for those motivations. And with practice, like anything else, forgiveness becomes easier and more readily available. For me personally, understanding that the mind and soul compose our dual-nature has made compassion much easier. We(our minds) are all products of our environments, and as such, tend to take on the personality of the environment. This occurs in the short-term and long-term. As Isa allegedly said, hate the sin, not the sinner. Peace, Tay

Peace I agree with Bro Jankren. The concentration should be on getting these kids wholesome activities so that they don't do dumb things on an impulse at such a young age and be forced to grow up way too fast. Contraception is not 100% fool proof. And there are problems called STDs. This is not to mention the corosion of moral standards.

Salamun alaika brother Alen, Brother Ayman agrees with brother Arnab about this and has explained it in detail in an article at the following link http//free-minds.org/articles/science/language.htm (scroll to the bottom please) For everyone's benefit, I will quote brother Ayman from the article "Interestingly, while writing this article, a possible solution for an age old puzzle was inadvertently discovered. Many people have wondered about the initials at the beginning of some chapters of the great reading. A closer look at those alleged initials reveals that they are not initials at all but are words. For example, here is how 21 is written now as a word Had it been not a word but three initials as some people contend then it would have been written as follows Clearly, there is a big difference. Also, from Chapter 42 it is clear that the words at the beginning are words and not initials and we can't haphazardly separate them as initials because of the deliberate separation between "" and "" when they could have been joined and written as Thus, The God deliberately separated the "" and "" while He didn't separate into in Chapter 2. Thus, this is more confirmation that should be considered a word and not three initials. Even chapters that start with single letters should be read out as words and not spelled as initials. Spelling them out would be like spelling the single letter "" at the beginning of Chapter 103 as "waw", for example, instead of reading it as "wa". The God gave us the great reading not the great spelling. As we found out, Arabic is a common people language and not a formal religious one. So what do those words mean? In all informal languages of the common people there are words that are either jargon abbreviation of other words or are slang words that people commonly use. As a language of the common people, Arabic would have been no exception. An example in colloquial American English would be words like "OK" and "yo". Interestingly, chapter 20 starts with the word "taha". Here is what the Classical Arabic dictionaries say about the meaning of It means "hey man" or the equivalent of "yo" in colloquial American English. The dictionaries attribute this word to the Southern Semitic language of Ethiopic, which is related to Southern Arabic dialects such as Hadramatic and Sabaic. So this slang word could have been borrowed into those Southern Arabic dialects. In light of this information, let's fully translate 201-2 201-2. Hey man, We didn't descend on you the reading to make you suffer. As one can see, the meaning perfectly fits in the context of 202. Even though scholars and clergy would be shocked at hearing such an informal way of expression in a translation of the great reading, one must keep in mind that the real Classical Arabic at the time of the great reading was a common people informal language and not the formalized language that it is made out to be today. Hence, it is likely that when the clergy at the time of the prophet heard the great reading for the first time in Arabic, they had the same reaction as the present day clergy hearing the above translation. Another example is in chapter 27 where the word "tas"/ appears. According to Classical Arabic dictionaries, the word means "delve/sink deep into something", amongst other meanings. Thus, 271 could be translated as follows Sink deep into these signs of the reading and a clarifying book. Another example that appears at the beginning of multiple chapters is the word "tasam"/. It appears in chapters 26 and 28. According to Classical Arabic dictionaries, "tasam" used by common people to mean "sharpen" and "study", among other meanings. . Thus, 261-2 and 281-2 could be translated as follows 261-2. Sharpen/study these signs of the clarifying book. The Arabic word "ham"/ , which appears in chapters 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46 also has a meaning. According to Classical Arabic dictionaries the meaning is something that is "intended" or "destined" .- (&#1614 (&#1611 &#1615 &#1615 Thus, 401-2 can be translated as follows 401-2. It is intended/destined revelation of the book from The God, the Powerful, the Knower. Similarly, 411-2, 451-2 and 461-2 can be translated as follows 411-2. It is intended/destined revelation from the Almighty, the Merciful. 451-2. It is intended/destined revelation of the book from The God, the Powerful, the Wise. 461-2. It is intended/destined revelation of the book from The God, the Powerful, the Wise. 441-3 can be translated as follows 441-3. It is intended/destined and a clarifying book. We descended it in a blessed night for We were warning. In chapter 42, we have two words that have been traditionally considered as initials. We already found out what "ham"/ means. According to Classical Arabic dictionaries, the other word "'asaq"/ means "following closely" and "pollinate/pollination". Thus, 421-3 can be translated as follows 421-3. It is intended/destined pollination, like that is how you and those before you are inspired by The God the Powerful, the Wise. Finally, 431-3 can be translated as follows 431-3. It is intended/destined and a clarifying book. We have made it an Arabic reading so that perhaps you will be logical. Interestingly, we started this study with 433 and now we came a full circle and ended up with a possible solution for the age-old mystery of what the word in 431 means in the context of 431-3. Given that Arabic at the time of the great reading was an informal common people language with many slang words, it is not surprising that the first scholars to codify the language were not Arabs but were Persians. No scholar who is a native speaker would codify what they consider to be informal "street talk". Scholars only codify formal languages. Later as the Arabs interacted with other nations and tyrannical leaders and the religious elites revived their symbiotic existence, Arabic was transformed into a formal "religious" language that the common people need the clergy to understand for them. The slang words at the beginning of the chapters defied codification by their very nature because slang by definition doesn?t follow any rules. However, they serve as a sign for us that The God can take inconsistent man-made human communication and use it to compose a consistent and powerful message. They also serve as a reminder that The God is addressing the people directly and that the self-styled religious elite do not have any role in our obligation to The God. To refute the traditionalist theories about the alleged initials, all that had to be done is prove one set of the alleged initials to be a word that has meaning and fits in the context. In this article, not just one but eleven of the sets of initials were proven to be words that have meanings that fit in the context. This leaves us with 18 that are not yet deciphered and for which further research is needed. As our understanding and that of our children improves, we would be able to decipher them with The God's help, unless He wills otherwise." Peace

but there is 1 understanding i dont remember having read anywhere before here that of djinns being reptiles! interestingly, there have been many legends around reptiles such as snakes and lizards! infact, according to the traditional view, djinns are believed to take the form of snakes! -S i believe this article is somewhere in the articles section, so u can check it out there! -) okay...thats wat i had sed a while back...but the article's been revised to reflect a better understanding, so the above stuff i wrote about an article on this site, viewing djinns as reptiles, is no longer valid! -)

abuja wrote Do Muslims believe in miracles. I have been told by some that they do not and by others that they do. I amcurious as to which is true. the quran has verses which apparently talk about events and occurings which do not follow the norm! -) then.... some interpret/understand these as being miracles some as being normal activities! some as being stories or allegories! if u talk about "traditional" muslims like shiites and sunnis...i think yes they do! others like ahmediyyas...i think they dont! for the rest, u aint likely to get any 1 answer! -)

Salam Samia. I am also of the understanding that al-kitaab and al-quraan are differntd parts of what we call in Arabic "al-muShaf "; but I think that you have not refined your research on this, or in othere words there are still areas that need more clarification. Al-quran and al-kitab are not different parts of the 'mushaf'. Al-quraan consists of all of the 114 chapters. For example what is the diffrence between the two vis-a vis the content? Like I gave the example in another thread, al-kitaab is like the subject matter. Al-quraan is the ultimate book to study that subject. What is kitaab mubeen? Al-Quraan. or al-kitaab bil Haq? Al-haqq is al-quran. So 'al kitaab bil haqq', would be al-kitaab with al-quraan. For pre-quranic people, al-haqq can be the book(like al-quraan) given to them. Though I am not 100 % sure about this 'al-kitaab bil haqq'. Are these all synonymous to al-kitaab? No. You also say that al-kitaab was revealed to previous messengers, and again I agree with that; but why do you insist that it isTHE SAME BOOK? What do you mean by that? I say that it was the same 'al-kitaab'(the subject matter). Not the same book like 'al-quraan'(the 'text book&#039. Also, what is this book that was revealed to previous messengers and to Muhammad? What book was revealed as tafseel of al-kitaab to previous messengers? The Quran doesn't tell.

Salaam All There is no one al-kitaab. We have Al-Kitab; Kitaab mubeen and Al-Kitaab bil Haq, each of which is different from the other. There is an on going mistake in translating "maa bain yadayhi &#1607 as meaning before (aka in the past). This is just the opposite of what it means. It actually means before as in (I am standing before you= in front of you). It has a present conotation and not a past one. If you check the quran, this is the only meaning. You will often find it in opposition to (past, behind) as in the expressions (min bain aideehim wa min khalfihim ). So, 1037 should be "...a confirmation of what he has before him, in his hands, and a means of seperating (verses) of Al- Kitab". The verses of the quran contain the miracle of Muhammad, which in perpetual manifestation. The Book (Al-Kitaab), on the other hand, has the laws and rules for our life on earth, and are pretty clearer. Another way how the quran's tafseel is explained in this manner is verse 548"And we have sent down to you Al-Kitaab bil Haq confirming Al-Kitaab that he has and controlling it...". This shows clearly that Al-Kitaab is not Al-Kitaab bil Haq; and compared to 1037, we can deduce that Al-Kitaab bil Haq = al quran.

Simple, I don't decide my understanding of the Quran through voting, unlike you. Voting does not prove anything. Or does it?
