thanks aimi, for your input as well... my question to you is, if prayer keeps your "mental structure of thought and feelings organized" then how do you specifically pray the salt? secondly, does god says in the quran that we can pray any way we want? or is there a specific method. i have read a lot of salat posts and have found them to be very similar because no offense to anyone else's opinion, but i feel 5 times or praying three times and/or not reciting certain non-quranic duasa doesn't make salat a whole lot different from how i used to pray. even if i start praying 5 times, my only support will be "quran alone". i cannot verify since i do not know arabic, that's why i stopped praying salat! peace, rifat peace Rifat, Prayer (regardless of your concept of it), must come from the heart, i used to do the physical prayer but my mind was wandering and not in earnest way of doing it. There is a verse, saying the hypocrites stand in prayer to be seen, but they don't remember God. -\ And hypocrites go to hell! Pray to God to not make us among the hypocrites and, ask Him to make our hearts soft towards His guidance yet firm and strong in submittion. Also, "What led you into Hell Fire?" They will say "We were not of those who prayed; "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." (Instead of being grateful, you did something outlandish.) While We summoned Moses for forty nights to reveal Our Commandments, you took to worshiping the golden calf in his absence. You were once again hurting yourselves. (7142) 252 Then, even after that, We pardoned you and gave you another chance to show gratitude (256). 253 And We gave Moses the Code of Law and the Criterion for you to clearly distinguish between right and wrong to lead you on the Lighted Road. 254 When Moses returned, he said to his people, ?O my people! You have hurt your own ?Selves? by worshiping the calf (7148-156). So, turn in repentance to your Maker and kill your ego (rebellious mentality 1253). This will be best for you in the Sight of your Maker.? Thereupon He turned toward you accepting your repentance. Verily, He is the Acceptor of repentance, the Merciful. 255 And recall when you said, ?O Moses! We will not believe in you unless we see Allah face to face!? Thereupon lightning thunder overtook you and overpowered your sight and senses. 256 Then We revived you, and raised you from a dead to a living nation so that you might show gratitude by following the Divine System of Life. 257 When you mended your ways, We overshadowed you with Our Grace and We bestowed upon you Our Bounties in abundance, saying, ?Partake of the decent things We have provided you.? And they did no harm to Us - but they certainly harmed their own ?Selves?. 258 Then We commanded you, ?Enter this town and enjoy the provisions therein ? partake as you desire. But enter the gate with heart-felt humility, saying, ?HITTATUN? ? ?Our Lord! Pardon our misdeeds as we mend our ways?, - and We shall forgive you your faults and amply reward the doers of good.? 259 But, the transgressors altered the meaning of the words they had been given, and changed their attitude of humility and perseverance. So, Our Law of Cause and Effect brought down upon them the consequences of their drifting away from the Commandments. 260 (Remember the times when you were in the Sinai desert and there was shortage of water.) And Moses asked for water for his people. We said, ?Smite the rock with your staff.? And there gushed out twelve springs so that each tribe found its respective source of fresh cool water. Moses said, ?Enjoy Allah?s provision, but desist from creating disruption and chaos in the land for selfish gains.? 261 (At one stage you demanded Moses to provide you with a great variety of edibles, although you were living in the Sinai desert.) You said, ?O' Moses! We are weary of the same kind of food, so ask your Lord that He brings forth for us plant food such as herbs, cucumbers, garlic, lentils and onions.? He said, ?Would you exchange something superior for something inferior? (Preoccupy yourselves with petty desires instead of higher goals?) Go back in shame to Egypt and you will get what you demand.? So, humiliation and misery were stamped upon them and they had to face the Divine Requital. That was because they kept rejecting Allah's Messages. And they persisted in opposing and even killing some Prophets against all right. They did all this, because they chose to rebel against the Divine Commands, and committed excesses against humanity. The meaning will not change. These are the kind of "errors" we use in the spoken Arabic no case ending; no dual verbs or adjectives (and sometimes no dual nouns); sound plural is commonly in the accusative/genetive , moving from the 1st person to the 3rd person... I never thought of this before I read Ayman's article, but I am more inclined to believe that the Quran was revealed in the spoken language, and was understood; until Sibawaih complicated everything '(

Salam everyone this is first time on this forum , first you have to find the true meaning of qibla i don't beleave that it means direction ,second why you have to face any perticular direction God is every where. In these ayat Quran is not talking about salat(namaz) and you wont find any aya which tells you that when you do your prayers face towards Kaba or any othere place.

Peace curiousone, In my understanding, according to the qur'aan, a qur'aan believer can marry a present day Christian if that person despite calling oneself Christian does not set up any partners with The God and believes in The God, the Last Day, and does good deeds.

The Quran also tells us that we can marry christians and their food is allowed for us, but it would be very difficult for us do this if we are hostile towards them. What about the nations split in religion, like mine. Do I have to hate some of my fellow countryman becouse they are catholics, and love indonesians just becouse they are muslims??

I think the whole message is very simple What is true Islam? Monotheism. Belief in One God, and not setting up any partners with Him. The message came down to Moses's people with the Torah. Monotheism. But the Jews now say that God is uncapable of doing certain things (ally out of weakness). God sent another message through Jesus. Monotheism. But the Christians started saying that Jesus is the son of God. Then, again, the message came down through Muhammad. Monotheism. And now traditional Muslims revere Muhammad. So what is Islam? It's monotheism. No matter if you're Jew, Christian, Muslim, or whatever, if you believe in one God, you're saved. But even if you are a Jew, Christian, Muslim, etc, and you set up partners with Him, then you're commiting the one unforgivable sin. Aren't those ayats clear now? (edit=him->Him)

Peace be upon you, The "books" of the God are ANY books that are verifyably truthful. A mathematics textbook can be God's book. We verify if something is from the God or not by looking to see if it contradicts verifyable life experiences. We put it to the test.

Salam Alen, The word usually translated as "hand" (yad) can also mean "power, control or influence." If you consider the whole definition then the verse could read "Allah's power, control or influence." On the other hand (no pun intended) the meaning could simply be "hand" in which case I would say at that it could be allegorical or the best way that we as simple human's can understand what is meant in the verse. Salam, look at the definitions of the words in arabic....how are we to determain if one is a nabi? If a nabi is a messenger or someone who informs (please see complete definition) it could be applicable to many people. Whenever you give a message (I would say specifically the message of God) does that mean that one is a nabi? And a rasul is one who communicates with God as in back and forth communication (please see the complete definition). So that could be applicable to many people as well. Food for thought...
