It is not giving permission for anything. Anybody can divorce and remarry, woman or man, but since it is men who must pay saduqa to the bride, they are warned that their whim to change they will have to stand up for it moneywise. That is, freedom does not comprise a licence to steal from their wives. Salaam

Salam brother, I also forgot to mention milk. It's a relief. However, milk doesn't mean only cowmilk, but other livestock milk such as goatmilk. For those with lactose intolerance, goatmilk is a good substitute, but a little more expensive. Many herbs, but this is what's so special about honey. The nectar comes from herbs, which the bees take and make honey. Example the herb thyme is used for medicinal purposes, but there is also thyme honey. Unfortunately, honey is ignored for its great potential as medicine. Probably because corps like Monsanto will lose money, like you said. Look up Monsanto use of pesticide. Allah (SWT) is greatest doctor by giving natural foods and herbs that can cure any diseases.

I have answered, I think clearly, several times. You opened several threads with the same subject. Now I do not know what was in which. It is you who says the Qur'an does something unfair, but the Qur'an does not say what you attribute to it. I will repeat. As to children I quoted to you the aya where it says clearly Qur'an 4.11 "Allah instructs you as to your children to the male like the share of the two females. If thereare more than two women, to them two thirds of what left (the deceased),if only one daughter to her half..." As you see, the portions are determined as a function of the number of daughters. The share of the daughters is fixed first and then the rest is distributed amonst the males. If there are two daughters and one son, each of the three gets the same amount. If there is one daughter she gets half and the sons the rest, if there are three daughters or more for them two thirds and for the sons the rest, that is, one third. So, in the case where there are three daughters or more, you distribute it yourself and see. If there is a sex favoured, it is the women. On the whole this system of distribution favours the sex which would be in a very noticeable minority, where each of the inheritors of that sex, roughly, would get proportionately more with some advantage for women. Again, the case of three daughters They get two thirds of the whole. They cannot get less. If there is only one son and three daughters, the three daughters get two thirds, then the one son would get the other third. Proportionately he would get a bit more than each daughter. However if they are three daughters and two brothers, the three daughters would still get two thirds so one third would be left to disribute amongst two sons, so each brother would get less than each daughter. And you can do any number of combinations on that base. The amount for the females, the Qur'an determines first. Then what is left is distributed amongst the males. If one daughter, she gets half, the males the rest. If two daughters and one son, each get a third If three or more daughters, the daughters get two thirds, the rest is distributed amongst the males. Salaam

Thanks for the replies. The article does say believing is higher. I realized that this group is progressive form of Islam and would put things differently than other sources. But I think this is the most helpful to me. I'm most interested in mysticism and studied Zen and Kabbalah. What is amazing about the Quran is it speaks of the same things that I have discovered in my own searching before I read it. I was frustrated with the laws and authority of humans in both Judaism and Buddhism. I felt led to a strong monotheism beyond all other doctrines and reliance on God's guidance alone. I also think mysticism should be more about prayer and moral self improvement than mastery of esoteric knowledge (which Kabbalah is prone to). The Quran in the 2nd and 3rd surrah (as well as the example of the Prophet) speak directly to where I'm at I think. But what is your understanding of how you submit to Allah? What does that look like? From Quran that is clearly needed beyond just believing in order to be fully righteous. It also seems repentance and seeking protection from our sins in mentioned frequently. Thanks, Fred

Apparently it does otherwise we would not be here. Besides making trouble we are also extremely good in other much more useful things. I think our duty is to make sense out of our existence otherwise it's a wasted life. exactly you are right , same answer i ll give to him.. but i will make a slight change in it.. everything that does not make sense is not always mean its senseless or not from God.. but its not comprehendable/solveable with limited ability of mind... same we dnt know what is the sense of making this massive universe when we only need a planet to live on... does it make sense. but slowly slowly we are understanding things . that make sense now.. same with verses of quran, if something does not make sense , its mean we need to understand it , whats behind it.. instead of discarding it..

Several biblical figures had concubines when they were not able to create natural children with their wives. The most famous example of this was with Abraham and Sarah. Sarah, gave her maidservant Hagar to Abraham, while maintaining ownership of both maidservant and offspring. Their union produced Ishmael. Hagar gained the status of full wife in regards to Abraham, but nonetheless Sarah retained the status of main wife. Subsequently Isaac inherited Ishmael and Hagar along with the inheritance since under Hebrew law all property of a slave belongs to the master. This type of pilegesh is recorded in Jewish sources as being a singular case. All later cases of pilegesh recognized the pilegesh and guaranteed similar rights in the house as the legitimate wife. Since having children in Judaism was considered a great blessing, legitimate wives often gave their maids to their husbands so they could have children with them when those women themselves where childless, as in the cases of Leah and Zilpah; and Rachel and Bilhah. The concubine commanded the same respect and inviolability as the wife, and it was regarded as the deepest dishonor for the man to whom she belonged if hands were laid upon her. Even in the exceptional case of Sarah and Hagar, Abraham would have been obligated to treat Hagar as a full wife and she would have been treated as an equal by Abraham. Sarah's rights would have been regarding the technical legal status of being considered the inheritor and since the other wife and offspring would have been hers by ownership she became the legal albeit not biological mother of Ishmael. Legal characteristics According to the Babylonian Talmud (Sanh. 21a), the difference between a pilegesh and a full wife was that the latter received a marriage contract (Hebrewketubah) and her marriage (nissu'in) was preceded by a formal betrothal ("kiddushin&quot, which was not the case with the former. According to R. Judah, however, the pilegesh should also receive a marriage contract, but without including a clause specifying a divorce settlement. Certain Jewish thinkers, such as Maimonides, believed that concubines are strictly reserved for kings, and thus that a commoner may not have a concubine; indeed, such thinkers argued that commoners may not engage in any type of sexual relations outside of a marriage. Maimonides was not the first Jewish thinker to criticise concubinage; for example, it is severely condemned in Leviticus Rabbah. Other Jewish thinkers, such as Nahmanides, Samuel ben Uri Shraga Phoebus, and Jacob Emden, strongly object to the idea that concubines should be forbidden. Any offspring created as a result of a union between a pilegesh and a man were on equal legal footing with children of the man and his wife. The only exception was the unique relationship between Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, and Isaac and Ishmael. According to Rabbi Mnachem Risikoff, the institution of pilegesh is an alternative to formal marriage which does not have the same requirements for a Get upon the dissolution of the relationship. https//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilegesh Looks to me it was a common Judaic tradition in Medina where large amount of Jews reside. This is known in Arab world as Urfi marriage. Nikah 'urfi is a "customary" Sunni Muslim marriage contract that requires a wal (guardian) and witnesses but not to be officially registered with state authorities. Couples repeat the words, "We got married" and pledge commitment, although there are many other informal ways in which people marry `urfi. Usually a paper, stating that the two are married, is written and at least two witnesses sign it, although others may record their commitment on a cassette tape and use other forms of documentation. Most Arab countries do not recognize 'Urfi marriages and do not allow partners to get a 'legal' divorce since the government does not recognize the legality of the marriage in the first place. Sometimes these relationships are a way for people to have sex with each other within what is perceived to be a licit framework. Nevertheless, the relationship is often kept secret from family members. https//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikah_%27urfi This kind of marraige is discouraged in Quran to some extent because of abuses. Notice the case of contract (oath) and family not informed. Both issues the Koran talked about. Also the lack of dowry, which Koran also talked about. In modern times in other areas of world it is similar to living with a partner without formally marrying.

Verse 9-29 is the only verse in the Koran that is not explicit. It talked about the people of the Book, usually meaning the Israelites. Most of the Koranic verses about fighting was concerning the pagans. I believe this probably is a implicit verse (mutashabihat). Perhaps dealing with the Jews of Mecca who were a smaller group of Jews than Medina. We know from Quran there was some referencing to fighting Jews allied with the pagans of Mecca but they were not the main fighting party. But it is important to note that verse 9-29 is the only verses where the context is not clear. However the Koran covered the issue of fighting and it's legal reasons in many other verses. The Koran also spoke about fighting against oppressors. And what is with you that you fight not in the cause of Allah and the oppressed among men, women, and children who say, "Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper?" 4.75 Also the prevent two believing parties from fighting each other. If two parties among the Believers fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between them but if one of them transgresses beyond bounds against the other, then fight ye (all) against the one that transgresses until it complies with the command of Allah; but if it complies, then make peace between them with justice, and be fair for Allah loves those who are fair (and just). 49.9

The most important principle for semantic purposes is to see whether some words are elided in the sentence. Arabic is a pro-drop language. The subject of the sentence in absolute state. This word is always in construct state (possessive phrase). Its Tanwin is the indicator of elision of its second possessive noun. It is prepositional phrase relating to the predicate; and its object pronoun is referent for Allah the Exalted, the Creator of physical realm. It is the predicate. The subject pronoun is referent to the objects that are subject of the sentence, Each one of the objects is in humble attendance exclusively for Him the Exalted. Those with real freedom are asked to become humble

My first impression of the Qur'an was that there it was really God who spoke, The God of majesty and power who does not care to pander to any proselityzing through contrived softness or marketting, but rather when it shows softness is a true tenderness for his creatures. Summing up it came through to me as authentic. Salaam

Peace. There is no Dahwah to any religion. Islam is not a religion,Islam is a state of mind. That is why you will find GOD saying"Call to your Lord" and not to any religion!!!!! After all there are Muslim Jews. Muslim Christians, Muslim"Muslims", Muslim any religion(man made)...Which one of these religions are you going to call to? Qoran, like all the scriptures of GOD before it all call to GOD and His one and only system(The one and only religion if you want to call it that). So just call to GOD Alone. Simple. GOD bless. Peace. Peace, If we cannot find any verse that directly exhort ordinary believers to spread the faith then it would appear you are right as far as the Quran is concern. But like I say, instinctlvely and naturally there will be many believers who want to share their religion with others .

Salaam Root meanings of are Project root list Waw-Lam-Ya = to be close, near, follow, be up to. We use idioms and phrases in any language to convey certain meanings. When we say "at an arm's length" we know what is meant. Similarly in Arabic when it is said it literally means "nearer to you so nearer to you" but metaphorically it means destruction is nearer to you.( Ref Lughat-ul-Quran by Parvez Ahmad http//qes.no/Lughat/LughatVolum-IV.pdf) Hope it helps Thank you so much for your time, of course it does help, although still from "you are worthy of it" or something like that to a hard "woe to you" looks a bit... weird? But maybe the reiteration is they key, as you said, and in any case meanings are close Have a great day sun

Peace, I recommend looking up the roots in a lexicon, words in Arabic vary in their usage, and often are not precisely literal, D3w means to call, hence all the words that derive from it are based on calling, such as calling someone to islam, calling on God, calling out to a person, or calling people your sons. I recommend reading the intro to the ancient Hebrew lexicon of the bible, if you understand the concept and mentality of Semitic language and the essence of the roots themselves, it helps to understand how you get the meanings you do out of the roots.
