Hello FreedomStands! I remember you from other websites and am happy to see you on here. You may or may not remember we had a conversation about the movie "Inception." The movie is basically about lucid dreaming up to three layers deep, i.e., a "dream within a dream." Anyway, I am interested in the so-called seven layers of understanding of the Quran, the first of which is mostly concerned with Arabic letters, words and semantic root meanings. The second layer of understanding is more spiritual/less material and based on our level of faith. This is progressively true as we move from layer 1-7, the wisdom we gain is more and more in our heart and less and less in our head. Any believer has the right to make an interpretation based on his/her level of faith and wisdom, without intermediaries between oneself and God. Sometimes people do look to others who are more wise/educated for help, however, this is a choice and not technically necessary. My interpretation of Al Fatihah fom personal experience is There is something on the horizon and it is coming this way. Later on I read the following from the Quran and the two were somehow linked in my mind 8123 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. Thanks for starting this thread and I think it is a VERY ambitious undertaking! Thank you so much! Sorry for the delay in my response! That is some very cool stuff you mentioned! My email is [email protected] and my Skype is abrahimesker if you want to keep in touch more closely in case I don't frequent this website too much.

Thus to be a Muslim who holds his Prophet in high regard, one needs to accept the proof that is available and reach valid conclusions. Why not change that prophet into plural. The message he came with is important and to be worldly is not part of it. Be well

and whenever you experience the opposite of that, it is from yourself." ...what exactly does this mean? (can't remember verse number) E.g. if my house burned down, it is my fault? Peace. Why is everyone magically incapable of reading that verse properly? 478 Wherever you may be, death will overtake you - even though you be in towers raised high. "Yet, when a good thing happens to them, some say, "This is from God," whereas when evil befalls them, they say, "This is from thee !? Say "All is from God." What, then, is amiss with these people that they are in no wise near to grasping the truth of what they are told? Did you see that? "When a good thing happens to them they say it is from God, when evil happens to them they say it from yourselves" and we are to say ALL IS FROM GOD! ALL IS FROM GOD! ALL IS FROM GOD! Not clear enough? Lets say it three more times, together now, ALL IS FROM GOD! ALL IS FROM GOD! ALL IS FROM GOD! "What then is AMISS WITH THESE PEOPLE that they are IN NO WISE NEAR TO GRASPING THE TRUTH OF WHAT THEY ARE TOLD" When they say "what good is from God, what evil is from yourself" it didn't just contradict itself in the next line, it is saying clearly that All is from God, that the people are wrong who say otherwise, then repeated the thing they tend to say. The Qur'an has elsewhere repeated ALL IS FROM GOD, the Good and the Evil, and the Bible even says the same too. Still not clear? Then maybe Islam isn't for you! Haha, and I'm not trying to be mean to you!

Hello runninglikezebras, Well, you have a very argumentative nature. Well, stubbornness is good, if what you say is right. You want more sources from my part which are not Wiki? Here you have from Websters from 1913 Webster's dictionary from 1913 traces the etymology of holloa to the Old English halow and suggests "Perhaps from ah + lo; compare Anglo Saxon Heal." The Old English verb, hlan (1. wv/t1b 1 to heal, cure, save; greet, salute; gehl! Hosanna!), may be the ultimate origin of the word. Hlan is likely a cognate of German Heil (meaning complete for things and healthy for beings) and other similar words of Germanic origin. Bill Bryson asserts in his book Mother Tongue that "hello" comes from Old English h?l b?o ?u ("Hale be thou", or "whole be thou", meaning a wish for good health) (see also "goodbye" which is a contraction of "God be with you". http//www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=hello 1883, alteration of hallo, itself an alteration of holla, hollo, a shout to attract attention, which seems to go back to at least c. 1400. http//www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=holla&allowed_in_frame=0 Holla As an urban slang form of holler (v.) and meaning "greet, shout out to," it was in use by 2003. http//www.spanishdict.com/answers/242974/what-is-the-origin-of-the-word-hola Etymology From Spanish hola, and this from Arabic wa-Allh Hola comes from the Arabic and it means Peace be upon (with) God. This has evolved into Peace be with you, which is a very romantic and polite way of saying Hello. Thanks for making me dig deeper. http//english.stackexchange.com/questions/188517/what-are-the-origins-of-hi-hey-hello To muddy the waters, other etymologies for hola exist. etimologias.dechile.net cites the Spanish word "Hola" as having a Classical Greek origin in (Good health, used by Homer Odyssey Chapter 24 verse 402). This Greek word appears to share PE roots with German heil which is also a greeting meaning health (cognate with English hale). Like I said, the origin has likely traveled afar and has its root in Middle-Eastern exposure. It is not as obvious as you make it look, runninglikezebras. My bet is the version that is Hal (whole) + Lo with 'lo' as a call interjection morpheme. It is likely a colloquial form alike "Hail you there". "Lo" is a well known word to use to call someone's attention. To make things worse lo may be from Old English 'la' and is not surprising if it would have a root that is influenced by Arabic primitive morphemes you "As Be" which 'la' means on a primitive level. Arabic uses 'ya' to address a person, but it does not mean the influence must be just that and Arabic is not the oldest language. Hal-lo is still like I said an interjection which is whole + lo used to gain attention. Whole because the person is animate and lo as a way of addressing the person. Arabic etymological search is what I am most interested in, but this was a little interesting. By the way, 'hal' goes further back into Latin and Greek. Please let us stop the hello topic as it gets tiring. There is no gain in proving it true or false. I think it has deeper roots than in French and I actually think the renowned lexicons that you quoted are wrong in this case. We will be stuck in recurring circular reasoning for little to gain and a waste of discussion when there are more important topics such as a proper interpretation of Quran. Let us agree to disagree on 'hello'. Salaam

Salaam, I should also have said that Jesus also claimed "the words are not my own but of the one who sent me". 3953 is also not interpreted as intended by the author. An "ibadi" here does not imply slave/servant but as co-merger with the one expressing this phrase. It is the same message that Jesus conveys when he speaks to his disciples and not different. Because the prophet is symbiotic with the Rabb in Allah thus a passage like this implies an adherence to the Unity of Allah together. A prophet saying this is completely separated from his bodily self and absorbed in spirit of GOD which we all have to find underneath the cloud. If he (if Muhammad) refers to I he still does not really refer to himself. In the Biblical Gospels, do you think it is the Platform (Rabb) that healed the subjects of Jesus or the bodily and mortal Jesus as he appeared? Salaam

Eyes don't see what mind doesn't know. I may add, or what mind doesn't want to know. Interestingly, doctors look at Quran not like everyone else. Obvious evidence of this Badar Kanwar and Qamar Zaman. Right now i am reading your all posts. Waiting for new interpretations. It is unclear who wrote Quran and for what? Is there any evidence?

Both Huruf and hicham9 are right. While she is describing a fair system, he is describing the fair leadership type. Both are needed to run a country. If the man is given all the power to decide it is likely for him to abuse it just as MOF said. I think we saw this again and again. No human is infallible. I am not for communism, for it does take away power from people.

If you just notice the ethics given in all the books you will find them very similar. I have thought about this thing again and I have come to conclusion that they have to be separate books because of the history. Torah and Bible don't mention the story of Prophet Muhammad because he came after them. Similarly, Torah can't talk about Jesus because he came after it. But what binds them together is "guidance" for mankind. I ask myself this question a lot Do you think Adam would have eaten Eve out of hunger if he were not sent with "how to be a human" guidance?

A good article about the semitic languages http//phoenicia.org/semlang.html Peace Peace Seriously though, Arabic is much older than Akkadian. This does not mean that the oldest Semitic writings that can be found are in Arabic. In fact, measured from earliest extant writings, Arabic looks relatively young (it is in fact formed in the late 3rd /early 4th Century CE in cursive Musnad from South Arabian Musnad). What it means that Arabic is older than these other relatives is that , ( kalb, (9) may, (10) 'amlak, (11) dam, (12) 'amat, (13) Hadiith, (14) senn, (15) samaay, (16) kookab, (17) qast, (1 aqrab ENGLISH (1) brother, (2) name, (3) head, (4) eye, (5) tongue, (6) soul, (7) earth, ( dog, (9) water, (10) king, (11) blood, (12) bondwoman, (13) new, (14) tooth, (15) sky, (16) star, (17) bow, (1 scorpion You can find these @ http//sasha.inet.ru/ru/akkadian/gramm/lexicon.html Following a few simple rules of equivalence (i.e., identical consonants and long vowels count for one point, identical short vowels count for half, single<>double consonants count for half, m<>n counts for half, sh<>s counts for half, w<>u counts for one quarter, o<>u counts for one quarter, i<>e counts for one quarter, ii = y, and uu = w), we have the following computed average strengths of relationship, based on this random sample Akkadian to Arabic 67% Akkadian to Aramaic 55% Akkadian to Hebrew 52% Akkadian to Ethiopic 48% Further, if Akkadian which was spoken by the Assyrian and Babylonian and later on convert to the so called Aramaic which in turn was adopted by the Persian in the 7th Century BCE as agreed by western apologist but in actual fact what it came to be known as the ancient Iranian languages that were widely spoken over an extensive region until the downfall of the Achaemenian Empire in 330 BC, is the Elamite language. The Elamite Cuneiform script was used from about 2500 BC to 331 AD and WAS ADAPTED FROM AKKADIAN CUNEIFORM. Can you see the contradiction? AND ALSO why was Nabatean used in the Levant and NOT Aramaic in the 3rc Century CE, as I have pointed out earlier. http//www.ummeljimal.org/gal/inscriptions/fixed/i1_f2.jpg And Greek translation http//www.ummeljimal.org/gal/inscriptions/fixed/i1_f8.jpg Let me show you the lies, below shows bilingual Greek and Aramaic... http//i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news2/Modern-Technology-Helps-Decipher-Ancient-Aramaic-Tablets-2.jpg The Greek inscription is actually modern Greek. Ancient Greek writings are not cursive, compare the the writtings with Umme Jimal above. Peace

Thank you for the kind-hearted word @JavaLatte! I'm serious about that, brother. I don't find many people who are the true supporters of Allah, even in this forum, so I truly hope that Allah will protect your faith in Him, and may He teach you to be righteous. I hope the same for myself as well. G-D willing, my sister. May your dearest wish come true (_&#9696 Yes, inshaAllah. ^__^ Salaam.

Salam mubashir55, 262 provides and assurance that having faith in Allah and the last day (i.e. acknowledging our responsibility and accountability to behave faithfully) and then acting righteously is sufficient condition for salvation. 447 comes as an encouragement to have faith in the divine reminder ? which only reconfirms the earlier commandments ? so that one can be equipped to avoid the fate of those who deviated from the right path. Do they now reconcile? May Allah guide us all to the straight route. Regards, Arman

Peace, I think your translation is superior to Layth/Yuksels for this verse. Their translation often still contains traces of other translations they used to create their own. A methodology that is failed to begin with. This is really sad because they claim to reject hadith but at the same time just copied hadith inspired injected words in their translations. They are often injected in older translations to align Quranic translations with their contradictory hadith. Salaam. I think for most of us Sunnism/Shiaism inspired us for at least a little during our lives. So I cannot blame the two for traces. But I don't really know what these traces are. If we leave Edip&Layth's (that is probably based on "The Monotheistic Translation&quot The Monotheistic Translation is maybe the best translation (English) I've ever read. I usually compare while reading (in 8-10 translations, most of them in Turkish) to see other aspects and true meaning of ayah, and Layth's translation is look and feel different than most. But that's my opinion. What's interesting is, in this ayah "Edip Yuksel's Turkish" translation contradicts with Monotheistic and even Layth&Edip translation, if I don't get it wrong. But note that I don't know the E. Yuksel's Turkish translation's publish date, maybe he did change it.

Peace, are you saying that's Muhammad being addressed as the brother of AD? Is there no text which which links "Hud" with "Ad"? Is there an ayah which states "Muhammad" and "Ad" together? Peace.

By the construction I think it refers to God. The sentence revolves around God, the rasul revolves around God and is considered as a unit with Him. Salaam

Salaam, You can check a dictionary and you will see that indeed has that connotation. It is in Lane's. It is not conjecture, but the ritual associated... that is conjecture on the other hand. I am still not convinced that several instances of alif in words are supposed to form the root. is one example. Alif is usually a grammatical letter. Its innate meaning is simply 'be'. is rather formed from and of the root . There are just two versions of alif, and , but the letter is still called alif even if it has a madda on it. It just marks the letter should be treated independently and be emphasized upon. The rest was made to help pronunciation and later ideas on how to decipher the language. Salaam
