OK I will not comment on that verse, yeah because I hold different translation by now and that translation you pointing is in english, as non english speaker, it's difficult to me for intepretate it. Remember Quran is not the Bible, so Quran translation is never appoarch 100% of the real meaning of the Quran.There are no translations is perfect. Tarjamah Harfiyah (word by word translation) Tarjamah harfiyah means you translating with harfiyah meaning/literal meaning, like you translating something by dictionaries, google translate etc. Example = son, = sea, = ritual etc. Tarjamah Tafsiriyah (translation by intepretating). This translation always used by for translating a Scripture.The method is we aren't translating words for the real meaning instead we change the real meaning of that words so it can fit with the theology. The verse you quoted does not say "treat other as you wish to be treated" I suggest you go back to ESL class. It does certainly say "treat other as you wish to be treated" ; ***you may apply a question to that verse such as --> Do you wish to be treated with peace ? SO, evidently there's a place for "treat other as you wish to be treated"

Peace Andantino. When I try to searching about As-Samiri in the Quran, only 2087 mentioning that name.I'm not good with history, and maybe he related with the Fir'aun. So, err, which translation is the best overall literal translation? Muhammad Asad paraphrases things, goes for the overall message which is nice but it's not what I'm looking for. I use Sahih International when discussing the Quran with others but only because it's generally percieved to be decent enough by most muslims - I'm not that fond of it myself. Peace, I have also been troubled by the translation of 415. Which translation, and in which way? If zina is rape then why would God also say punish the victim in 242? Says alzaniyatu walzani? And "bihama" is translated as pity for them. Also if zina is rape, why would anyone have pity for a rapist? Because there is no sexism. If a female rapes/molests a male, then the female is punished in the same way a male would be punished if he raped/molested someone. Do you find this puzzling or troubling? Everyone is equal in front of the law. And in regards to you latter question because some people have compassion in their heart. In an article I will write up soon I will logically, using the Quran alone and no preconceptions or religious influence, prove to everyone that "zina" is rape, "FHSh" is adultery and some more things regarding the sexual laws of the Quran.
