Evaluation criterion is simple. When we find in translations and exegeses contradictory statements about conduct towards women we should immediately conclude that these are inefficient, inaccurate and unfaithful renditions. Arabic word "Zaraba" never denotes beating unless qualified to indicate this signification. Those who employed this word beating even ignored its perception and meanings in English language. The point is clarified Grand Qur'aan has prohibited domestic violence negating erroneous "belief" of beating one's wife. Peace, Yes, I agree. If it is important to our salvation shouldn't there at least be a consensus what is salat? Nope, because consensus is useless in that it can be either right or wrong. The %age of people agreeing to something doesn't make it more right or more wrong. But I understand what you're saying. Perhaps we are approaching salat from the wrong end. We are trying to disect it using cross-reference and etymology and whatever it is called that people do... and that is all good I think, because it can remove alot of falsehood and invented lies, however, maybe we can be guided towards doing salat by God even without knowing that it is salat we are doing. Perhaps we are too stuck up with the word sometimes. This might sound odd since the word is in the quran... but in the end, what is important is what we live/do in our lives and why... it is the output and intentions that matter.... not what we call it. As far as the word salat is concerned, I don't think there ever will be a consensus. Also, our footprint on our own soul won't depend on our understanding of a word. Peace and bump, It can be quite interesting to ponder on the things we do, that we take as part of our faith or religion. In all truthfulness, very much is ritual, which in turn means that it is actually repetition... recycling of old material. What is a ritual actually? If you think about it, at the foundation and source of any ritual, there is a thought-form that is repeated. Whether we do physical movements or verbal or mental recitations, they are repetitions of a thought-form that we execute in our mind over and over. It's a mental pattern, a thought-form, which involves executing words, thoughts, movements and similar. It's repetitive and mechanical in essence, even though we may spice it up with emotions or other things that make it seem more genuine and real. Why do we do this? How can this benefit us? Why would we be required to mechanically repeat ANYTHING, even the God?s names? The thing I?m questioning is not WHAT we say and do, but WHY, WHEN and HOW we do it. If we don?t do it out of inspiration in the moment of Now, then isn?t it dead... mechanical, without spirit?? Again, this is not about what to do and say, or what to avoid, but it is rather the reasons for doing it. Did we follow our inner guidance or did we follow a mechanical habit? Will we benefit from repeating old things, or will we benefit from expressing ourselves genuinely in the manner that arises in the moment, expressing that which comes out from inside, that which comes with spirit in the Now-moment?? I think these things can be valuable to ponder, in order to get to know oneself better and to evolve and get closer to one's real self and subsequently to get away from the disconnected and separatist, egoic mind that doesn?t want us to open our eyes and be awake so that we can walk the straight path. You are right, al-kitab is the Message and not a physical book. Books----plural in Arabic signifies three and more.

The verse would make sense if the change is behavioural in nature. "Converting" the unbelievers only to ask them to pray 5 times a day only reinforces the perception that Islam spread by the sword! Verb "Tabu" is a voluntary action, no outside coercion or threat is involved. "Repentance" is a feel of guilt, and you cant' make people feel guilty by showing them sword.

Allah externally interfering to help someone can not be true. It can not happen. Allah will not interfere and change the condition of any people externally. It is against Quranic truth. It is not Allah's plan. A five year old girl in India was brutally raped by two brutes a few days before. Allah could have saved the innocent girl just giving a headache or stomach pain for both during their criminal act. It will not happen. Allah does not interfere. However, it does not mean Allah is incapable to externally intervene.

Peace I must add that in English people generally tend to be familiar only with the first, and/or primary use of a word. It is true that generally people would not get Mazhar writing "galaxy", but that does not necessarily make him wrong. In my experience, in my own language when I'm not clear on the uses of a word I always look to a dictionary. In the end "galaxy" can be used as Mazhar said. If you look in a dictionary under "galaxy" you will find the usual use of "galaxy" and also, "a large or impressive group of people or things a galaxy of boundless young talent." Arabic plural Nabiyeena has built in masculine plural pronoun refering to a gethering of men given that status reflected by adjective like participle. I could not find an appropriate equivalent word in English except galaxy. Thereafter, I googled to find if it were used in formal papers and found it was used about ambassadors and senior clergy of church. "Galaxy" alone will certainly give a perception of group of star but the phrase "galaxy of ambassadors", "galaxy of messengers" should instantly convey to even an ordinary reader the intent of the writer that he is calling the persons mentioned in the phrase to be like brilliant group of stars which shows reverence for and their higher stature. Mazhar, I don't really understand what you say. It follows then that if God is the subject of the sentence then the words are describing that which pleases God. Or it could still be the description of God, again depending on vocalisation as nominative or accusative/dative. but in chapter 96 you can find this form That would be another reason to read it in all other cases as one verb basama and not bism.

Salaam, From what I can recall of new age religions, in modern witchcraft at least blowing on knots can refer to the witches ladder. Many things in modern witchcraft though can be found in occult practices that date back to ancient times or records of occult books that claim to have ancient practices. A knot is made in a piece of string and then an chant is said over each knot and then they blow on the knot. Surah Falaq appears to refer to using this technique for unsavory purposes.

You can simply teach yourself as I have. The process from beginner to advanced level, will take years. But it will be very gratifying in the end. Not such long time might be needed for learning the Arabic of Qur'aan only. Qur'aan is rendered facilitative to learn and comprehend

Yes, I think that's a fair analysis. That would, of course, depend entirely on the perceived gender of the angels; if they are gendered at all. Pl refer 5327. Non believers in the Hereafter name them as feminine. Also please see the verbs where angels are the subject-doers to find those as masculine.

peace, The word "purchase" is perhaps more correctly "exchange/trade", but in any case, if one exchanges/trades/sells something very valuable for something less valuable, then clearly one has lost out - that is what I take form it.
