      @Nun

Im sorry we are beyond the references of english translations.

ya ayyuha annabiyyu does NOT mean 'O Prophet, You O' Prophet'

      Ya Nominative Case

?Ya? used to express feelings or affection towards someone or something when followed by a verbal noun or Nominative Case. ; Language of the Holy Quran, page 400

      Why cant you accept this?

Both words Nisa and Awaj are not used for prophet's wife. Moreover, why does Lord need to address people individually or personally. The purpose of this book is to give general laws of guidance applicable for all times. So why he need to address wifes individually. Furthermore, this is coming from the Lord who is originator of every thing. How come an originator with all encompassing knowledge will act in a reactive manner. The laws are same for ever.

        Badar

Kindly, at least bother to read the BOOK, before you type in such sweeping statements. Here is where God thought it be appropriate to adress prophet's wives.

33-59 O Prophet! say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers that they let down upon them their over-garments; this will be more proper, that they may be known, and thus they will not be given trouble; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Sis Maria, indeed sincerity of heart and mind is the prime prerequisite for understanding the book.
One thing should be clear that the exalted prophet could not and did not marry anybody after been bestowed with prophethood, as this would have been clear violation of the very message he was going to preach. I will try to explore from Alkitab if we can answer how many wifes he had?

          Badar

It is better to explore first, because otherwise you are Most likely to mislead the innocent minds around. He was told at a certain stage, that NO MORE, but not stopped after prophet hood.

33-50 O Prophet! surely We have made lawful to you your wives whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses out of those whom Allah has given to you as prisoners of war, and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts, and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who fled with you; and a believing woman if she gave herself to the Prophet, if the Prophet desired to marry her -- specially for you, not for the (rest of) believers; We know what We have ordained for them concerning their wives and those whom their right hands possess in order that no blame may attach to you; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Indeed it was very intelligent of you to capitalize on such a subtle hint.

Dear friends let us just analyse this word from 3359 alone

How come one can read it as one word "Azwajaka". Please pay attention to alphabets. Peace and love.

                      Salaam,
I have voted for "as one as one can manage" and remember that managing means, be there for her as her husband in all walks of life, supporting her financially and sexually as well as companionably, strong enough to provide for her needs....any example there? angel
Not like wealthy Arabs who can only give their wives enough money to shop and are unable to satisfy them, thus leaving many sexually frustrated.
