O you the people of the Book, indeed our Messenger has come to you
He makes for you people manifestly evident and distinct much of what you people conceal from the Book and he ignores quite many of your concealments .
Whose translation is this? Who inserted (you were waiing for) and (with Grand qur'aan) between brackets? And who translated as "our messenger"?
This verse clearly shows that means messge here. It is further described in the same verse as
O people of the book. Our message has reached you. A light from God and an explanatory book from God has reached you (515) -

515 O people of the Scripture, Our messenger has come to you to clarify for you much of what you were hiding from the Scripture, and to pardon over much. A light has come to you from God and a clarifying Scripture.519 O people of the Scripture, Our messenger has come to clarify for you after a lack of messengers; so that you cannot say "No bearer of good news or warner has come to us;" for a bearer of good news and a warner has come to you; and God is capable of all things.

I am frequently wrong and in this instance may very well be but it was my understanding that mumineen and muslimeen are two different things. Mumineen are held to a higher standard than Muslimeen. So in order to be a Muslim all that is required is to believe in God, the last day and do good works. The requirements for Mumin are more stringent. Anyone else?

Jews and Christians have to believe in quran and prophet Mohammad only then they can be considered on right path otherwise they are only in the opposition.

Yes one could apparently be a muslim since it is physical/apparent aspect, way and code of life. The proper way is to first become a believer and then put that belief into physical action. Believers are asked not to die untill and unless they were in the state of being muslim. Believing is ideology, Deen is action. An action has weight and meaning only if it is done under the attraction of an idea, otherwise it is just that thing which is done by any animal. Weight is the unit of attraction the earth has for that thing, therefore, all those acts would go waste and fruitless and will be of no weight and value if not done in the love and under the influence/attraction of belief. Belief and Deen are complimentary, one without the other is meaningless proposition. The belief will be of no avail without acts and acts will be of no avail without belief.

I'm confused. If Jews & Christians believe in Prophet Muhammad (saw) and the Qur'an, then they'd no longer be Jews & Christians, right??!!

The original message remains the same. In time and space what happened was that conjecture fabricators polluted the message and deshaped and invented over a period of time a self made Deen but propagating it to be from Allah. A new Messenger came with the Book, he affirmed and confirmed that which was sent before him and thus segregated the truth from the falsehood and in this way again firmly established the message/Aa'ya'at of Allah. This system kept on and on before Muhammad s.a.s. with Grand Qur'aan was sent. They are current in time and space being the last message, since no one has yet introduced a new Book to public claiming it to be Message/Book of Allah.
The current demand and verdict applicable to people present in this time and space is given
This covers the whole time period of men. Only those who believe this are eligible to join the race for paradise.

He keeps telling me that the Mullahs on TV know much more than me and that we should follow them blindly. The Saudi petro funded Wahabism is reaching new heights since now they are using the media quite effectively to brainwash the masses to their view of 'Islam'. He has also warned me about not 'misleading' my two sisters. I have not given up though! God Willing we will increase in numbers and in influence and God's promise shall come to pass!

???Even if they believe in Allah as the ONLY ONE Whom allegiance is due, things will change. By printing on currency notes does not mean that they truly believe in Allah.

SaidI've heard that before, that I'm being "misled", or going "down the wrong path". You can only explain to him if he's open to understanding ... my MIL is the same way, think the mullahs/scholars are so wise and we should be following them. She thinks that Bukhari was a great, religious man.
