    peace all,

    www.misconceptions-about-islam.com

Now that the site has been up and running a while, I have been able to look at the web traffic to the site, e.g. which pages were viewed most etc. Some interesting information.

You may wish to have a look at the site and guess which 5 out of the 42 misconceptions are regularly viewed most. You may be surprised.

I will post the answers here shortly.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Wakas, I was planning to ask you this question.

I bet you the five most popular sections are among these six (had to put six down hmm)

      Music and singing forbidden
A man and woman cannot be alone together
Must be "Muslim" or you will go to Hell
      Death for apostasy
      Stoning to death allowed
Alcohol is forbidden in all forms

Also can you reveal the total cumulative hits you have recieved, and how many hits a month/week you recieve.

Seconded, I'd think one of the popular ones would be wife beating.

Wakas I would like to discuss about Music and singing, according to you they are not clearly forbidden in Islam

The Quran does not clearly forbid music or singing....

This word casts some doubts. I my self love Music and singing (listening) but there are some verses that need clarification, and I hope you can clarify those for me and many others. I know most of the singing without poetry is impossible but we have following Ayats

Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? They descend upon every lying, sinful one,They incline their ears, and most of them are liars.
          http//www.everyayah.com/data/images_png/26_224.png
And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them

          Thanks!

Since, you kept on answering for many do whom i had conversation with.

                  Raaajah,
Firstly it refers to those who follow them. Secondly, a "poet" in Classical Arabic and especially in The Quran's terminology/portrayal is not just a reference to a person who rhymes words or perhaps even sings. The Quran regards "poetry" of a different genre to itself, as The Quran is based on reality/truth/righteousness etc. Study all other occurrences of this term in The Quran, you will soon see The Quran differentiating itself. Or alternatively read the works of Toshihiko Izutsu or Neal Robinson in which these terms are reviewed and contrasted.

If it was simply about rhyming words, or recitation of melodic sounds, then The Quran has this itself. Please re-read the misconception and reflect.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

You are correct, Quran cannot ban something creative, but actually who are those Shura and Ishra that Quran distant itself from.

                    here the word poetry,
l-shi'ra is used here it says "And We did not give Prophet Muhammad, knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is not but a message and a clear Qur'an,"

So I am actually looking for that Ishi ra that Quran says is not befitting for Muhammad Peace is upon him.

                    Wakas

Yes very right, Quran does have lots of these rhyming words, but Allah calls Quran different from poetry, this causes bit of confusion.

                    There is Rawaaya quoted
Aishah narrated that during the days of Mina, on the day of 'Eid al-Adha, two girls were with her, singing and playing on a hand drum. The Prophet peace is upon him was present, listening to them with his head under a shawl. Abu Bakr then entered and scolded the girls. The Prophet peace is upon him, uncovering his face, told him, "Let them be, Abu Bakr. These are the days of 'Eid." (Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim.)

There should be less "confusion" once all occurrences are compared.

Dear Wakas, I will be grateful if you provide some other links of your articles/study for a comprehensive study of the above in addition to the link you provided. The link you provided was useful but still one feels thirst.

like the ones for Toshihiko Izutsu or Neal Robinson .

Any work would simply be a study of the Quran occurrences, thus one can simply study the occurrences themselves.
I dont know if he discusses the word here, or in his other book "God and man in the koran", but you can find it here

The top 5 misconceptions are usually

                              /muhammad-married-young-girl.htm
                              /cut-off-hands-theft.htm

                              /alcohol-is-forbidden.htm

The site gets about 9000 page views per month.

obama was asked about his religion and why he chose to be a christian.

jesus is about love, forgiving, understanding, being your brothers keeper, charity, giving. although very much commercialized, still christmas is about family and charity.

islam is about woman covering head to toe, praying 5 times a day, fasting,

                                          peace all,

                                          Can you help with this?

Calling all budding writers and graphics designers out there.

The website Misconceptions-About-Islam.com is looking to add printable leaflets for each of its Misconceptions, so visitors can print them out and spread the word in their local communities if they wish to.

They will simply be condensed versions of each Misconception text, with some nice/simple colours, borders, pics, etc. Likely A5 in size. You can design it how you want, and the best ones will be made available on the site.

The site currently generates over 13 000 page views per month.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.
