Well I went to quran-islam.org, over there they show many translation errors and they use a really good translation of the quran. So what they say is quite reasonable

If that is the case, it seems you may have bigger problems than knowing how to use a search function can solve.
I can assure you from my own experience, the biggest stumbling block on the path to enlightenment is oneself.

And your point is??? I am very stupid and dumb? Well I've admitted that thousands of times plz see my introduction post giveup giveup I hail Allah only. Okay and in that link you gave me it says to read the quran as that is the only book of guidance, well in the quran And tell the believing women to subdue their eyes, and maintain their chastity. They shall not reveal any parts of their bodies, except that which is necessary. They shall cover their chests, and shall not relax this code in the presence of other than their husbands, their fathers, the fathers of their husbands, their sons, the sons of their husbands, their brothers, the sons of their brothers, the sons of their sisters, other women, the male servants or employees whose sexual drive has been nullified, or the children who have not reached puberty. They shall not strike their feet when they walk in order to shake and reveal certain details of their bodies. All of you shall repent to GOD, O you believers, that you may succeed.
You are very intelligent indeed much more than me but as much as my dull wit can understand I do not see head covering anywhere ??? confused confused There shall be no compulsion in religion...
So i am worshipping Allah alone, what else do you want from me? ANd remember you are not Allah so plz do not assert about my sins.
You shall not accept any information, unless you verify it for yourself. I have given you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brain, and you are responsible for using them.
Well as much as my dull understandings can take me, I have not found head covering and the word khamir(or what ever its called) has many meanings but I do not understand arabic therefore I shall only stick to Dr.Rashad Khalifa's translation which I consider to be authentic.
O you who believe, do not prohibit good things that are made lawful by GOD, and do not aggress; GOD dislikes the aggressors.
so that is why I just want to be liberal and righteous and at the same time not extracavenge, now you are excatly like Al-araf, so again I appreciate your help thank you very much, but you two are both too intelligent for me, you two take things too far for me(for u it is good ;D but not for my dullness sorry) and so I do not wish to argue with you plz I beg you stop. giveup giveup giveup I am not worth debating trust meIf that is the case, it seems you may have bigger problems than knowing how to use a search function can solve.
What was the reason to insault like that? I am the way I am, it does not give you the rights to insault.
Okay you think I cannot use search function? http//quranicteachings.co.uk/khimar.htm well I found this from google search, well now do you still think i cannot use the search function? I really do not know why you started to make mockeries and insualts O you who believe, no people shall ridicule other people, for they may be better than they. Nor shall any women ridicule other women, for they may be better than they. Nor shall you mock one another, or make fun of your names. Evil indeed is the reversion to wickedness after attaining faith. Anyone who does not repent after this, these are the transgressors. -

http//www.islamfortoday.com/syed01.htmThe Qur'an advises the wives of the Prophet (SAS) to go veiled (33 59).
In Surah 24 31(Ayah), the Qur'an advises women to cover their "adornments" from strangers outside the family. In the traditional and modern Arab societies women at home dress quite differently compared to what they wear in the streets. In this verse of the Qur'an, it refers to the institution of a new public modesty rather than veiling the face.
...When the pre-Islamic Arabs went to battle, Arab women seeing the men off to war would bare their breasts to encourage them to fight; or they would do so at the battle itself, as in the case of the Meccan women led by Hind at the Battle of Uhud. This changed with Islam, but the general use of the veil to cover the face did not appear until 'Abbasid times. Nor was it entirely unknown in Europe, for the veil permitted women the freedom of anonymity. None of the legal systems actually prescribe that women must wear a veil, although they do prescribe covering the body in public, up to the neck, the ankles, and below the elbow. In many Muslim societies, for example in traditional South East Asia, or in Bedouin lands a face veil for women is either rare or non-existent; paradoxically, modern fundamentalism is introducing it. In others, the veil may be used at one time and European dress another. While modesty is a religious prescription, the wearing of a veil is not a religious requirement of Islam, but a matter of cultural milieu.2

salam pvb. the word "advises" is not present in the sure. to use the term advises is misleading.
the word used in the sura is fardana, mandatry, obligatory, from the root word fard.
you have posted a non quranic article, and in a gross violation of the quran, turned around and claimed this article is your authority, then mislead people with your innovation that this is a cultural device, when the quran explicitly says it is fard.
the conservative cautious conclusion is a women should cover completely, liberal minimum conclusion is that the head should be covered to the bosom. this is the range of acceptable conclusions.
maybe you dont understand that the reason for the observance is obedience to allah. calling this obedience to allah, cultural, and therefore not religious, and therefore irrelevant, is a truly sad path you have gone down.
allah is the lawgiver.

okay here http//free-minds.org/women/scarf.htm you good people are saying that hijab(covering head) aint mandatory right? The parts that made me think, I've highlighted them, so now here is my question it is simple, ah well plz do not get angry, remove if inappropriate, so what I wana ask if If in a western country a Muslim female/girl wears skirt around the knees would that be haram? Now I said for western country only, because there it is mentioned that god knows we will be living in different culture and communities, so in western country would god give sins? and in that article it is also mentioned women living in egypt will not accept modesty of one from NY, and etc etc. so, & plz answer politely. now, the reason I am asking is not cause I like seeing porn, plz understand that, it is because I use to live in canada, so i just wana know.I see nothing wrong with a muslim girl western or not to wear a skirt to the lenght of the knee's. As long as she isn't showing her
private parts and the skirt isn't too shorter that it goes to the section of being not modest. Plus she has to cover her cleavage as
well.PEACE

Al Araf - The Qur'an advises the wives of the Prophet (SAS) to go veiled was a summary of the verse- (33 59). My opening question was is this a trusted site?
Of course one must obey GOD, not a custom of man.

YUSUFALI And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.
PICKTHAL And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment save to their own husbands or fathers or husbands' fathers, or their sons or their husbands' sons, or their brothers or their brothers' sons or sisters' sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack vigour, or children who know naught of women's nakedness. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And turn unto Allah together, O believers, in order that ye may succeed.
SHAKIR And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful.033.059
YUSUFALI O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad) that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
PICKTHAL O Prophet! Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, so that they may be recognised and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.
SHAKIR O Prophet! say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers that they let down upon them their over-garments; this will be more proper, that they may be known, and thus they will not be given trouble; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. -
salam. this post is not to any person in particular.
there is no dispute that khimar is a cover. my opposition is to believing women who go in public uncovered. there is no way this verse appproves of an uncovered believing woman in public. i oppose any publicly uncovered woman's claim that she is mominah. devolving the debate into a dispute over scarf, shawl, veil, hijab, jilbab, or any other type of cover, as a device to avoid obedience to allah, is disingenious.
allah is the law.
-
the word khimar is from the syllables kmr. this does not mean head cover.
pls try taking an older chambers dictionary and look up the word pig. A pig is a swine. A pig is a pig. but in newer dictionaries the word is also mentioned as a slang for cop. THIS IS IN THE DICTIONARY.
Over time because of a word used and hacked to mean something what comes to mind when the word is mentioned changes.
What do you think the word "GAY" meant in the old poems. Gay colors, happy and gay etc.
Gay didnt mean homosexual but now when the word is mentioned we only think of homosexuality.
same way Khimaruhoonna as mentioned in the Quran does not mean head cover. it is very lately that it has been a controversial word that has been turned to mean head cover. people actually sell a head cover that is called a khimar. But it never meant head cover those days. a khimar is a cover. could be a table cover too.
draw a cover over your chest. not trying to be crude but maybe a proper Bra is necessary. Exposing the breast is not allowed in Islam. this is what god says in the Quran.
look at the word hijab. Everyone knows what hijab means in these modern times. this is one of the most conspired, talked about and penalised words in this world.
the Quran has the word Hijab but never uses it to mean a garment for females or a concept for women. never. but modern thinking will never accept it. even though it is mentioned in the Quran seven times to mean something else. Many who call themselves muslims will not accept it.
hijab is nothing to do with a concept or garment for ladies. khimar is not a head cover but a cover.

As all three translations point out - the garments are so they ARE recognised, so it's a big mistake to assume it is about hiding your identify the way a veil does. Big difference between a cloak and a veil. 2431 says to cover your breasts, not your hair.
-
That's what I just did! I referenced to both Quranic verses PVB had already quoted!
-
salam liquiddharma. you have not substantiated you claims. you have no basis for you claims that believing women are not required to cover themselves.
pvb does not realize his post shows believeing women are required to cover themselves. referencing pvbs post is the opposite of what you are claiming.
allah exposes falsehood with the truth.
-
You don't seem to understand the difference between the hair on one's head, and one's breasts and private parts. The Quran says guard your privates and cover your bosom. Therefore that it what is required. Stop trying to innovate.
Allah is all knowing, and all merciful.

salam liquiddharma. your replies are not responsive.
i consider your posts to be the replies of a rejecter.

Salaam Al Araf
Enough is enough. Please stop accusing people of being rejectors and non believers. You are not the God's porte parole.
