farida that might be one man... it's not so easy to generalise everyone like that..

I never understood why it was 'haram' to wear an anklet haha in that case anything that might make a sound or any jewelery must be hidden... How complicated

at least sunni men can use that excuse for buying less dowry

why don?t you ask those men who look at women in that way and wot abt women who gaze at men in same way. P
And please don?t ask my honest opinion in this case.

            Thanks in advance. ;D

That's what I asked you (men on this forum) D but I didnt know you are a coward &
Anyway I often gaze angrily at men coming out of the mosque, who stare at me, until they divert their gaze so now you know why women gaze at you. yes

oh ok well the ring thing is just a culture, usually they give jewelery.. i think it depends on the family. Actually they make the dowry into money value so like say $10,000 or more (usually it's more). So the guy gives jewelry or money or whatever it is up to that value.

i found something in hadith i thought it was interesting

              005.059.393 - Military Expeditions led by the Prophet (pbuh) (Al-Maghaazi) - - - -
              Narrated Anas

When it was the day of Uhud, the people left the Prophet while Abu Talha was in front of the Prophet shielding him with his leather shield. Abu Talha was a skillful archer who used to shoot violently. He broke two or three arrow bows on that day. If a man carrying a quiver full of arrows passed by, the Prophet would say (to him), put (scatter) its contents for Abu Talha." The Prophet would raise his head to look at the enemy, whereupon Abu Talha would say, "Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you ! Do not raise your head, lestan arrow of the enemy should hit you. (Let) my neck (be struck) ratherthan your neck." I saw 'Aisha, the daughter of Abu Bakr, and Um Sulaim rolling up their dresses so that I saw their leg-bangles while they were carrying water skins on their backs and emptying them in the mouths of the (wounded) people. They would return to refill them and again empty them in the mouths of the (wounded) people. The sword fellfrom Abu Talha's hand twice or thrice (on that day)

              004.052.131 - Fighting for the Cause of Allah (Jihaad) - - - -
              Narrated Anas

On the day (of the battle) of Uhad when (some) people retreated and left the Prophet, I saw 'Aisha bint Abu Bakr and Um Sulaim, with theirrobes tucked up so that the bangles around their ankles were visible hurrying with their water skins (in another narration it is said, "carrying the water skins on their backs&quot. Then they would pour the water in the mouths of the people, and return to fill the water skins again and came back again to pour water in the mouths of the people.

So that hadith is in bukhari and reported twice.. The prophet's wife has a bangle on her ankle? oh no she's got an anklet!!

You know me that I am not the one who generalise; I mentioned a study carried out for work environment some time back. If you search you may find it on the internet.
Well it could be a lame excuse for men, who are not doing as well as women at work, but if you ask my personal opinion. I do honestly believe that women should dress professionally at work which include professional high heels and not victoria Beckham style. But then I am old school.

Salam farida I think such studies are subjective even bias.

Work environments differ, you wouldn't wear high heels in an early childhood setting, goes against OHS but sure being professional is important that includes dress with or without heels.

Though I like heels, i think they look pretty it can formalise an outfit

It might be a lil sickening yeh. I was just replying in relation to Wakas how sunni's are against anklets yet the hadith has her wearing it, just pointing out a contradiction.

You should see women ministers here sitting on the front bench in parliament displaying their cleavage and what about the French women politicians working with Sarkozy o wow
I too like heels; it improves ones posture and does make women look pretty. Maybe that is why men are jealous ?
