Is the Quran a word of God?
-
Peace,
I would like to start off by answering the question I posed in the Subject. I do believe that the Quran is the word of God. How do I know you might ask? Well I know because of the sheer amounts of proofs in the Quran. I am sure most of you have studied mathematics and probability. Let me explain what I am getting at
Suppose if I were to tell you I had a dice and I predicted that I will roll a '5' in the first throw. If I threw the dice, and the number '5' was indeed what it showed, you wouldn't think it was such a big deal because the chances of that happening are 1 in 6. However, if I was to say that the next throw will show the number '3' and if that was indeed the outcome, you might be surprised. The question is, how many consecutive right predicitions would it take before you BELIEVE that I have a special power to predict the number on the dice (or I am cheating). Either way, you would have to accept that there is something out of the ordinary going on.
Now, getting back to the Quran, how many PROOFS would it take to convince you that the Quran is of a divine nature? Well actually I need your help in doing such a thing I will start off by listing some empirical facts in the Quran that have been proven by modern science. Feel free to add more. As this list grows, I hope the hearts of all believers will increase further in faith as we all realize that the probability of all these statements in the Quran being true could only mean one probable alternativeThe author of the Quran is God Himself VS. The other improbable alternatives-
Muhammad was a scientist.
"Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)? Then did he become alaqah; then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion. And of him He made two sexes, male and female." 7537-39
"We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah then We made the alaqah into a mudghah ..." 2312-14
"Have We not made the earth as a bed, and the mountains as pegs?" 786-7
"Have not those who disbelieved known that the heavens and the earth were one connected entity, then We separated them?..." 21.30
"Yes, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers." 754 -
Muhammad was a historian.
"The king(malik) said, "Bring him (Yousef) to me, so I can hire him to work for me." 1254
"Pharaoh (firaoun) said ?If you(Moses) choose a god other than me, I will certainly imprison you.?
"Pharaoh is a title used in many modern discussions of the ancient Egyptian rulers of all periods. In antiquity this title began to be used for the ruler who was the religious and political leader of united ancient Egypt, only during the New Kingdom, specifically, during the middle of the eighteenth dynasty.
Meaning "Great House", it originally referred to the king's palace, but the meaning loosened over the course of Egyptian history until it became interchangeable with the traditional Egyptian word for king, nswt. "

Muhammad could predict the future.
"And the moon when it is full, you will mount up stage by stage! What is the matter with them, that they have no faith?" 8418-20
"We decreed in the Book for the tribe of Israel "You will twice cause corruption on Earth and you will reach great haughtiness. When the promised first time came, We sent against you servants of Ours possessing great force, and they ransacked your houses, rampaging right through them. It was a promise that was fulfilled. Then once again We gave you the upper hand over them, supplied you with more wealth and children, and made you the most numerous group." 174-6
"Soon will We show them our Signs in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that thy Lord doth witness all things? " 4153 -
Muhammad was a psychologist.
"And when We bestow favour on man, he turns aside and behaves proudly, and when evil afflicts him, he is despairing." 1783
"Does not man see that We have created him from nutfah? Then lo! he is given to altercation, dispute or litigation." 36.77
"Say If you control the treasures of the mercy of my Lord, then you would withhold (them) from fear of spending, and man is miserly". 17100 -
Muhammad was a sailor.
"Or (the unbelievers? state) is like the darkness in a deep sea. It is covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds. Darknesses, one above another. If a man stretches out his hand, he cannot see it...." 2440
"And when distress afflicts you in the sea, away go those whom you call on except He; but when He brings you safe to the land, you turn aside; and man is ever ungrateful." 1767 -
Muhammad was a climber.
"And whomsoever Allah wills to guide, He opens his beast to Islam; and whomsoever He wills to send astray, He makes his breast closed and constricted, as if he were climbing up into the sky. Thus Allah puts wrath on those who believe not.? 6125 -
Muhammad was a mathematician.

So I ask you, which alternative is more likely?

The Quran says it came to guide the believers and give the good tisings to the believers. So it does assume in some instances prior belief before the Quran. The Quran is a sign like all scriptures, its uniqueness is what is a sign. There has never been an book as influencive as the bible in European history. Like wise, the Quran is the most influensive book in the Middle East histroy. They are incapable of dublication and tend to dominate. However faith in Quran or any scripture seems to be depenent on faith in God. However the Quran says God guides.
I don't see a way to convince people by "evidence" since faith is the belief in the unseen. We are told in the Quran that many miracles were shown to people but they did not believe. God guides and he leads astray and many believed without scriptures and many believed without prophets. But scriptures is a guidance and a bringer of the good news.

Very good explanation. bravo bravo

But how do we know anything is the "unchanged" word of God?
Peace

How do we know that the word of God has not been changed by man as it was written down?
through blind faith.

Briefly, for Arabs or Arabic speaking people it is easy to see that the level of language of the Quran is such that no human can attain. No one dares to think to argue about it. And the more learned one is in the language the more the wonder. The language of the Quran is a subject taught in Christian universities in Beirut, etc, for Christian students who major in Arabic literature. A Christian student won't get his/her degree without passing the Quran language subject. The language of the Quran is a category on its own, separate from poetry and prose.
For non Arabs or non Arabic speaking people it is a different story. Those who don't know Arabic would have to depend on translators. Translators can only try to give a close meaning to what they personally understand. So you can see plenty of change because of that.

The invitation to challenge the language of the Quran is open, forever, for whoever, whether one is programmed or not. No one is stopping anyone. But where is the replica? Man managed to fake and succeed in the-man-landing-on-the-moon story but, as much as the enemies of Allah wished, no one was able to fake one word to make it sound like Quran.
And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant (Muhammad), then produce a srah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allh, if you should be truthful.
Or do they say , "He invented it?" Say, "Then bring forth a srah like it and call upon whomever you can, without Allh, if you should be truthful."
Or do they say, "He invented it"? Say, "Then bring ten srahs like it that have been invented and call upon whomever you can, without Allh, if you should be truthful."

Peace John,
The so-called muslims falsely and hypocritically claim that the Quran has been preserved as it was revealed without any alteration and not even a change of dot. But the fact is just opposite.

The problem for me is, if you are correct, how do we ever know what God's word really is?
