Is the Quran a word of God?
-
The problem for me is, if you are correct, how do we ever know what God's word really is?
Through work of God.
-
I do not have any problem with the work of God, nor with my belief or trust in God, but I do have a problem with my trust in humans.
Then you don't have to worry about the words of god that reached us through unreliable sources. work of god is more important and benificial for us.

The simple answer to that Rev is that we will never know 100% that man has not tampered with it. However, we trust and believe in God and our contact with him is through our pure hearts. So keep your heart pure to find God's word as he will find a way and a means of you getting the right message if He chooses.
Summary
Pure (clean) heart + Do good + be righteous + be trustworthy + an upright person = A step closer in knowing how to recognise God's words yay
Well thats my opinion anyway !
peace

It could be in our heart, brain, or it could be in each and every cell of our body.

As I have said before. Only God knows the truth, we can only believe.

If I can offer an analogy
Think of faith/trust/belief like taking a step onto a stepping stone (e.g. across a river). For one to make that leap of faith onto the stepping stone one can use their knowledge, their experience, their reason, their wisdom, their skills of perception, their eyes etc to guide them to their decision on whether to take that step or not but if they do, it ultimately requires at least some element of trust/belief before taking that step onto the unknown, because they dont know 100% it will be safe/secure, it might be slippery or fall apart when they stand on it. Some people will leap blindly onto the stone without much consideration, but others will use what they have been given, reflect, think then take that step.
God gave us reason for a reason, use it, and when ready to trust, take that step.
peace.

I do not have any problem with the work of God, nor with my belief or trust in God, but I do have a problem with my trust in humans.
I congratulate you and RasulHamsa for your honest frankness. In the Qur'an, God has asked us countless times to (i) reflect at His works, and (ii) asked us NOT to follow our forefathers blindly. Clearly, (i) takes care of (ii).
Now it is up to me and you to reflect (or not to reflect = blind faith!). The more we reflect, over our life, the more we can see, like an ever-expanding horizon. I have experienced a subtle differences between reflection on secular subjects (in man-made books) vs. 'godly' subjects (in the Scriptures, not restricted to the Qur'an). When I do not understand something, I simply pray to God to put it in my heart, and give me patience to wait for His 'answer'.... how many times my heart has jolted in joy, after years of waiting..... That's is the way I have built my trust in God's words in the Scriptures... As for the Qur'an, I still have questions, e.g., what God means when He says that "At the beginning, His Throne was on the water...", but I do not ask any human for an answer.
So, Rev. John, my experience has taught me that to understand what's God word and what is not, in the Scriptures, is integrated with my continued reflections in the journey of life on planet earth. What I find difficult to accept, I do not open my mouth to deny it, rather pick the pearls of God's words that have already settled in my heart. If someone asks me, 'prove it!', I can't, for the sweetness is entirely mine angel
BTW, I get divine pleasure when I read the Opening Verses in the Qur'an (Surah Fatiha), the Lord's Prayer in the Bible, and the Gayatri Mantra in the Gita.... Truly, 'honesty is the best principle' .
Thank you again, for your honesty and cool frankness....

How do we know that the word of God has not been changed by man as it was written down?
Here you go.
Just as an appetizer the word "day" is mentioned 365 times, the word "month" is mentioned 12 times, and the word "days" is mentioned 30 times in the Quran.
The word "land" is mentioned 15 times and the word "sea" is mentioned 32 times in the Quran.
15 + 32 = 4515/45 = 28.89
32/45 = 71.11Does that remind you of the land/sea ratio of the earth? ;D
