I voted "When I can" because this is the first Ramadan I plan to fast alhamdulillah
a few months ago I met a fellow muslim on a social networking site and was asking her about ramadan as I was curious if it really ment that one would have to go through the whole part of daylight without any water and she was telling me that her and her family would get up before dawn and drink a lot of water before the day starts...
hopefully this method would work for the landscaper I am. i tend to have to hydrate a lot on the job as i seem to naturally sweat profusely working in the heat. whether I end up having to hydrate on a work day, i figure this is between God and I...but my senses tell me I shouldn't worry about this now, i'll cross that bridge when i get there, i just can't help thinking about it time to time...especially after today, i must have drank two gallons of water just to stay strong out there in the field

That is a good point. If you have to drink to stop passing out, then I'm sure God will understand.

I am very seriously considering it. The problem I have is I have some lunches I am supposed to attend during that time. If I can find a way to postpone or cancel them then the answer is YES!

I wish you the best of luck and a successful Ramadan.
My first one was 2 years ago when I was 14 - nearly fasted the whole time - had soccer 4 days or so in Ramadan so I did water-fasting for those days. Last year I has soccer training so I couldnt fast all the time. It's kind of surprising to me that your sunrise is at 6 pm - that can't be true. Mine starts at around 439 am.

Hey, you know when I used to play soccer, I'd fast and still train no problem. Of course, at that time, the trainings were from 3-6pm so it's pretty good. But it sucks when there are water breaks and I just go off a corner somewhere to chill for a bit. After 6pm, I'd walk slowly to a restaurant so that by the time I get there, I can already eat.

Of course, it'll really suck if you had to train from say 11- 3pm.

Duh, that's how I used to work it. But when you've got another player who's like way taller than you and who's just as good if not better, it's time to say bye bye to that position. These days, I just do parkour. It's got me the all the jumping I love!

The nature of your job is difficult and fasting could make it dangerous for you. I think you can do it but you should have started conditioning your body to get used to it. However, God tells us that if it is difficult then we can feed the poor instead. Why not fast on your days off and feed the poor on your days where you work.

2184 A few number of days; however, if any of you is ill or traveling,
then the same number from different days; and as for those who
can do so but with difficulty, they may redeem by feeding the
needy. And whoever does good voluntarily, then it is better for
him. And if you fast it is better for you if only you knew.

                          Peace

I keep well-hydrated before the fast begins, chug down a lot of water from the point of iftar. I don't know what it is exactly but I don't get thirsty often. But I wouldn't do something foolish like not drink at all before the fast starts of course.

                            Then again...maybe I'm just a camel!

aaargh! somebody said the sunrise is at 3.45? is that the dawn, do you mean? my sunrise is around 6am, so i was thinking about 30 mins before that would be ok to eat a bit, drink plenty and pray...

In London fast starting at fajar/dawn around 3.45 am, sunrise around six, sunset around 8 pm and it changes as the day gets shorter check timing for your area.
Wishing you the best of the month of Ramadan peace

If you xcant fast on a day in Ramadan, then

                                1. You fast on a different day in the year

(But if this is difficult for you then)

                                1. You feed the needy

Fasting on a different day is a priority - feeding the needy is the second option, although I guess for busy people option 2 is best.

Hey farida welcome back and how are you handshake ;D

Generally we see in the OT and NT fasting is a way to cleanse sins and get closer to God. Fasting is great when you break your fast. Its the moment of joy, but it soon turns blue after you eat. I call it the iftar blues, an anti climax after waiting so long and then eating.

                                          Peace,
                                          Respectfully.

Can't hardly wait for this year's fasting. I'm working in the kitchen with prohibited meat but the circumstances have forced me into it, otherwise i'd quit.
Even though i work in the kitchen, Thank God, i got food perfectly under control, Thank God.

                                          Glory be to our God.
                                          Peace.
