Because a God is omnipotent, there cannot be 2 omnipotents.

Because there is one reality, there cannot be two realities.

Because the truth is one truth, that which truly exists, the sure clear truth; two things in opposition cannot be true at once.

If there were gods in them (heaven and earth) except for God, then they would have been ruined...

God has not taken a son, nor is there with Him any god. If it were so, then every god would have taken what He created and they would have tried to overtake each other. God be glorified against what they describe!

Interesting. Can u elaborate a bit more on this point. Are there any other reasons that spring to mind as to why God is only one.

While I was typing the above lines I read OPF's post."Because there is one reality".This is a favorite term of the sufis and even of the Hindu yogis. Can this be equated with the quranic 'Al Haq'in addition to Al Haq's meaning ofThe truth. Also, is this created universe also not a reality?

The quranic al-haqq is where I got this from.

Look at yourself and see this for yourself. There is only one reality. That reality is ALLAH.

This created universe is contained in the reality that is ALLAH.

Non-pantheistic viewpoint The universe is a creation. It is conceptualized and manifested by God. It exists purely because God wills. Some may go as far as saying it is an illusion, and the only real is God. The abrahamic wording "creation", is what I prefer. Reality is a creation, of God.

What is neccesary for this creation to exist?

First we can look at, if creation exists on its own. We can say that, at some point, one needs the qualities of independence. If the universe existed on its own, it needs to be independent of anything else. Independence, really also means allmightyness, allknowingness, singleness and so forth. However, is the universe alive, thinking, allknowing? Simple observation tells us that no, it is the mind, who thinks. So these qualities must instead be attributed to the human mind.

And if you place the human mind, before creation, as the cause, you have a very valid logical thinking on the cause of the universe. And eternity is this immaterial paradox, that seems neccesary for life, dynamic thinking, non-machinery.

And as the first poster already explaned, allmightyness is only one.

If Allah wants he can create many other verses (He might even have), and He'll still be the omniversal God, because He's omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, He can do everything He wants, His power is infinite (omnipotent), He knows everything (Omniscient), He is everywhere at everytime and verse (Omnipresent).

Summary, Allah is not reality, Allah CREATED reality.(Which is much more then just being reality ofcourse)

Look beyond the words. When we talk about things like this, words are only a pointer. All the "omni" qualities pertain to space/time. I am talking about abstractions/realities far beyond the notions of space or time, transcending and encompassing all concepts & imagination.

Even if there are ten thousand "universes", there is still ONE reality.

Even if there are ten thousand "Gods" there is still ONE reality.

Even if there are ten thousand things to know, there is still ONE truth.

It is not the human mind which is THE REALITY. This is the anthropic principle in disguise, the observation that this universe is fine tuned to sustain conscious life because consciousness is present.

THE REALITY is beyond mind, truth/falsehood, spacetime, consciousness, knowledge, thought.

THE REALITY is the observer that cannot be observed.

4211 - There is nothing like unto Him. He is the Hearer, the Seer

"Summary, Allah is not reality, Allah CREATED reality.(Which is much more then just being reality ofcourse)"

Reality is not "the universe". The universe exists in reality. Reality = timeless. Universe = bound by time. If you say "ALLAH created reality" then using this definition of reality ALLAH created HIMSELF? Reality = that which is real/truly existing, don't forget the definition.

About omniprescence and if "reality exists in Allah".

You might be interested in that I researched a bit if the belief in omniprescence could be found in the Quran.
I did not find it, however I think the Quranic verses on that Allah is 50.000 years above creation, answer them both.

                      http//www.islamawakened.com/Quran/70/4/

To Him ascend the angels and the Spirit in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years.

In the Quran you find no such thinking that reality is "in" Allah, or that creation exists within the mind of God.
One does find this verse, that he is 50.000 years (journey) above creation though.
And I find that, when meditating on this, it brings me to the human mind.

This might be one of these transcendental truths, that just work. Possibly because the human mind really is absolute, so when meditating on this, you approach this absolute truth.

And usually the teachings on soul, in every religion, indicates that it is "within". Meaning that the universe is not the soul, but the universe is a creation, and the soul is the uncreated.

Also, if you have a being that existed eternally before creation, it does not change. Therefore creation must be something else, than this being.

Thus, 2 things must exist. 1> The Creator 2> The Creation. (While I believe that OPFs argument is that only one thing exists. OPF may expand on this?)

                      Peace.

Brother!-----Did you see,--------Allah knew that you will put such a question. So, Allah Himself gave the answer to your question. Allah Himself confirmed the Fact that there is only One Ilah, and not two.

@Paradox Uncreated, its only logical that The Most Powerful is omnipresent. You don't need Quran to tell you that.

If this is an explanation, then please refer to the Verse which you read in Al-Quran and giving your explanation of that Verse.

As I said, I couldn`t find it in the Quran, and after everyone and their dog telling me what supposedly to believe, I never rely on anything but the Quran anymore.

I dont find omniprescence logical. God is a dimensionless being. No time, no space. That would seem to imply that God is nothing, nowhere. Yet, The Quran states he is 50.000 years above creation. So this is the truth that I accept. And this isnt logical, rather an aspect of how God created his creation.

One could also argue that God creates everything, therefore he is "behind " everything, and thus explain what could be omniprescence.

I rather accept the truth on 50.000 years. If you are above something, you are not present with something.

A Quran verse also states that "everywhere you turn, is the face of God", which indeed is true, if your own face is Gods face, metaphorically speaking. While in reality, the physical face is a creation. The Quran also uses phrases like "hands of God", so it probably is a metaphoric use of words, like this.

It`d still be interesting to hear your thoughts on this.

The Quran doesn't explain everything enough for some people to understand. It tells everything if you're smart enough to understand it, check the post blow.. The Quran tells us that God is Most Powerful etc... It's only logical that He is omnipotent. He's All powerful, which means he can do everything. Being able to do everything = Omnipotent. Nuff said. I had no question in my mind.

"Many of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) wish that if they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from their ownselves, even, after the truth has become manifest unto them. But forgive and overlook, till Allah brings His Command. Verily, Allah is Able to do all things." 2109

Read the bold. Now, a description of the word Omnipotence Omnipotence (from Latin Omni Potens "all power&quot is unlimited power.
Monotheistic religions generally attribute omnipotence to only the deity of whichever faith is being addressed. In the philosophies of most Western monotheistic religions, omnipotence is often listed as one of a deity's characteristics among many, including omniscience, omnipresence, and omnibenevolence.

God is not bound to anything at all. Nothing is beyond its grasp.

See 2435. This is what I base it on. God is free of the human mind too, see 761.

Creation has never "existed on its own". Consider that our thoughts are physically manifested as electrical impulses - they have a substance to them, the creator is in perfect control of all things (673, 395). The creator is free of the limits of creation, this innately is omnipotence. Yes, the soul is uncreated, it's from the creator. The fact is that the creator is beyond all things and nothing has an existence independent of Him...

Being 50,000 years away for some entities in the universe is of no consequence. See 2186.

Now what I am saying is that you are saying there are two things that exist. But only one thing actually "exists", creation. The creator is not subject to existence. But on the flipside, "existence" is dependent on the creator. Creator means definer of existence/non-existence.

I am not really getting your argument OPF. God is not bound by anything yes. He is independent of all that is. In that lies also the neccesary qualities of omnipotence / allknowingness, and the neccesity for this to be a single entity.

You are saying God is independent of the human mind, yet saying that thoughts are manifested as electrical impulses. This seems like a contradiction to me.

I think one needs to thread carefully, when one tries to conceptualize God. I wouldnt say God is subject to anything, but he does exist. I cant remember the verse, but doesn`t the Quran say God is the Most Existing? This may be a pointer to that he is realer, than creation, yet creation exists aswell.

God is the owner of creation. That means that creation is not him, as far as I am concerned. I think everything in the Quran alludes to this. Else creation would own itself, and one would adore every object because it would be God.

                                      Peace.

Allah declares that He is The Creator of all things, and after Him no one else is the creator of anything

-----"Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is Guardian over all things." (3962)

So when He is The Only Creator,-----then-----He is The Only God

-----"He is Allah, the One, the Omnipotent." (394)

-----"His is the Sovereignty. There is no god except Him. So how are you turned away." (396)

Because-------"Allah is Able to do all things." (2109)-----And other than Allah, no one is able to do even a single jot. So, there is only one Ilah Who can do anything.

                                        ============================================

If there had been two or more gods

-----"Allah has not taken any son, nor is there along with Him any god, else each god would have assuredly taken away that what he created, and some of them would assuredly have overcome others. glorified be Allah above all that they attribute." (2391)

                                        =============================================

Then Allah Himself declares that there is no two gods. There is only One God.

-----"And Allah said ?Do not take for yourselves two gods. He (Allah) is only One God. So you fear only Me.? (1651)

                                        =============================================

-----"And they have not Appraised Allah with His True Appraisal. While the entire earth shall be in His grasp on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens shall be folded up in His right hand. Glorified is He and High Exalted above what they associate as partners (to Him)."

It's so simple and easy. There is no philosophical complexity.

My point is that Allah is omnipotent = being able to do all things.

"Nobody except Allah can do any jot", yes they can. Just because Allah can do everything doesn't mean we can do nothing. I can eat a chips for example. It was Allah who made humanity able to do so, your point is retarded.
