A person's "own truth" is an opinion or a perception until verified by others.

Verification by others is no guarantee that truth has been grasped.
That said, I agree that peer review is a helpful aspect of the scientific process.

      What?

Do you mean to ask whether false claims were always false? Like, false now --> have always been false?
If so, then no. If I claim that Sweden is now in a union with Norway, then I'm making a false claim, but it was true in the past. Some things change, some don't.

Not sure if I misunderstood you.
      Peace

      You said
      "Fact 1=wood doesn't burn. "
This is not a fact and is not true. It is a claim, which, when investigated, turns out to be wrong. So that is why I ask whether it shouldn't be more appropriate to name a claim a claim and not a fact or truth? Different, mutually exclusive claims can't be called truths, which results in one version of the truth and everything else is either wrong or a claim.

The reason why I distinguish between these is the frequent abuse of the word truth. I often come across sentences such as the Koran is truth, which is a very wrong usage of the word.
The Koran is a book. This is a true statement. It is the truth.
The Koran is on the table. This is a true statement. It is the truth.
Truth relates to a condition or process. So you can't say the table is true or the table is truth the same way as you can't say the Koran is truth.
It's a technicality, but when you see it used wrongly so many times you start noticing a pattern. I never even noticed it but now I cringe when I see it used in a wrong way. So I apologise if I seem overly nitpicky.

The Qur'an is the Word of God.
        God only speaks truthfully.
        The Qur'an is truthful.

That said, it is entirely possible, and entirely likely, that people will misinterpret it and perpetrate falsity in the name of truth.

And I will have to agree with you.

Words and terms are often used in inaccurate ways. But despite this, we can usually deduct the intended meaning behind the ridiculous statements.

            Cheers

Why did you use the word 'Unfortunately'? Just curious...

It's a joke. It's like I am actually in a provocative mood, but the argument is so good I am unable to find any fault with it and can't use this as a punching ball, a virtual one, so to speak. It's also a kind of compliment. The longer I think about it, the more connotations come to mind. ;D

                      Peace to everyone,

We must be careful not to treat the deen as sport like non-believers
The devil only seeks to aggravate and aggitate the believers by asking questions
and not really caring about the answers. Be smart

If you see those who mock our revelations, you shall avoid them until they
delve into another subject. If the devil causes you to forget, then, as soon as you
remember, do not sit with such evil people.

One could argue that "sit" could mean "converse"

                      peace

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you on this. )

You've provided proof of this, and willfully so.

You want mainstream religious falsities science is finally exposing as such to remain the "last stand" of religion.
You want religion in its entirety to become 100% discredited so that it can be totally eliminated.

However, I am extremely grateful for the wonderful service science is providing to expose the falsity and absurdity that has developed surrounding God's Word to have its "pants yanked to its ankles", so to speak. It deserves humiliation because it is the false traditions of our fathers and false precepts of men that have erroneously crept in and clouded our view of the sublime and powerful truths that have been concealed behind this veil of darkness.

Side note Kudos to this forum for providing a place where we can all attempt to penetrate and eliminate this veil of darkness by benefiting from the shared vision we all uniquely bring for others to consider.

I appreciate your efforts because you are amplifying awareness and attention to the fact that religion needs to grow up and get serious about what truly is true or it would indeed fall by the wayside as you are endeavoring to cause it to do. Little do you know, however, that in fact what you are actually doing is assisting pure religion to finally attain its victorious crown because God is all powerful and His Word shall be proven out as entirely reliable and truthful.

When someone like al-amiyr or myself comes along with paradigm altering views of holy writ such that these apparent conflicts between science and religion can be not only resolved but synergized in to a quantum leap breakthrough for both science and religion, you freak out and become extremely insecure, and with good reason.

You desperately cling to whatever you can to try and shut religion down, but I think you know deep down that your arguments are desperate and shall eventually be exposed as having no real substance when pure religion finally emerges out of this period of tribulation and purification. This is why you refuse to go ahead and "look in the microscope" so to speak. Deep down you know the truth is there so you willfully refuse to see it because you do not want to face the ramifications. You love your own sins more than you love the truth and you are using scientific fact as your "magic bullet" to try and kill religion. However, regardless of your intentions for being here, you are simply serving to assist God in gaining His victory.

So, thank you and peace be upon you.

Relax, he is just here to intentionally spread havoc. He admitted if himself in another thread. Waste your energy on something useful like discuss religion with those who want to listen, like me

I would be delighted to respond to questions you may have for me. If people like StopS are the only ones trying to substantively respond, even if its just to rabble-rouse, they are going to be the ones who garner more time. At least he is responding, and there's a lot to be said for that. I'd rather talk to the likes of StopS than hear a pin drop or nothing but crickets, so to speak, when I have attempted to contribute something.

In my experience, discussion ebbs and flows. There are some discussion points but sometimes it requires specific knowledge of Arabic language etc that I don't have so I tend to discuss conceptual things etc. There are also topics about putting elements of the Quran into practice - although sometimes people do feel spurred on to discuss more with people who disagree with them than agree. Having said that, those types of discussions can get tiring and frustrating. Just some thoughts that came to mind.

Final warning to you StopS and to you kylixguru. StopS, you have misrepresented what kylixguru stated. He did not claim that the quran deserves humiliation. It was "false traditions of our fathers and the false precepts of men" that he was referring to as being deserving of humiliation. The quran, on the other hand, he says has been "concealed behind this veil of darkness" and it is this veil that is being exposed thanks to science. Obviously the sentence is not necessarily grammatically correct, but I think the context of the two sentences will clear things up for you.

And kylixguru I'd suggest you not engage in repetitive argumentation of who said what. If you are being misrepresented please report it to the moderators. We do not care to have threads devolve into petty squabbles.
