Gay and Muslim?

With all due respect your explanation still does not back up your definition of marriage being sex and sex being marriage. You seem to be a little confused regarding how you define a marriage. I've never heard from anyone be they muslim or something else, that sex and marriage share the same definition. Not quite sure how you arrive at that conclusion but it isn't right, based on reasons given by myself and others who have been able to make a distinction between the two based on what we know of marriage and how it works and what it entails. Sex it sex, marriage is marriage, both serve a purpose and function, but are not the same thing.
Not sure how you cannot see that. It's very clear.
I amtalking about the Qur'an, not about what I have seen or not seen. For that we could have orgies and bestialism and what not. I am talking about what God, in the Qur'an, intends as marriage. You are talking about what the people call marriage. We all know what the people call marriage, it is what God's calls it what for me at least is of interest.
On the other hand, I am still shocked by the rather widespread disdain for sex as if it was something demeaning or unworthy toppled any time by so many things. Yes I am shocked. It is the one thing that even doen with the worst intention is the source of US ALL. We all come from one of those seemingly unworthy acts. We all have started in such embraces. People may have acted in them with more or less consciousness, but God, for sure, has been conscious, and has taken care that we come to the point we are at now. God tells us to be conscious of the wombs... Nut sex seems is below us. No. We put it below, we make shit out of God's real gold. Too bad for us. Yes that is marriage, that is coupling, that is the source of life. Not the sign ing of a contract. If you sign twenty thousand contracts you will not make anybody to be born. But a one night stand can... But we do not want that to be marriage. Too bad for us, we are not conscious of the wombs, not conscious of the gifts. Subhanallah.

My homosexuality is something that has often made me question if the Koran really came from God. And I still have not been able to reconcile my faith with my sexuality.
Being gay, I can tell you that it's NOT a matter of choice. But for someone who is not gay, you can never really expect that they would understand you. They simply can't. Why? Because they are not gay.
If I tell you today - start getting attracted to guys...right now...the way you get attracted to girls - will you be able to do it? I tell you to be emotionally attracted to men and not women - will you be able to do it? I show you a picture with a hot guy and a hot girl - will you be able to stop yourself from getting attracted to the hot girl....and instead get attracted to the hot guy?
And because you will not be able to do this, what if I then announce that you have a disease and that you are abnormal and against nature? How would you feel?
These are questions that many straight guys will not have the brain cells to understand or appreciate.
On one hand I feel inclined towards the Koran for multiple reasons....and then on one hand I struggle with the fact that I'm gay...and I didn't choose to be this way. So why did God make most people straight and me gay? Why are all the laws for straight couples and nothing aboout gay couples? Why? Why? Why? Is that not unfair? Isn't God supposed to be Just?
Indeed...if I any genie were to give me the option to change a few things about myself....I would certainly change my sexuality.
Anyways...coming to the Koran...I'm quite confused. People from Answering Islam say that the Koran must be wrong because it says that there were no gays before Lot's people! Now how do you answer this? You may answer that it was LOT who said this and NOT God...and messengers are human beings like us so Lot did not have enough knowledge about the world and said this in error. I really don't know.
Sometimes I feel that the Koran is talking about bisexuals...as it talks about people LEAVING females and going for males...bisexuals can CHOOSE where they want to get sexual gratification from. I used to think there are no bisexuals until I met a few bisexual friends. They are INDEED attracted to both the sexes in the same way.
Yet some verses seem to clearly imply that homosexual acts are sins. Whenever the Koran talks about people of Lot, it ALWAYS mentions the sexual acts. A few other verses do mention other things..robbery etc...but sexual stuff remains the KEY sin.
And that's the reason why I do not plan to settle down with a guy. And that's also the reason why I am seeking a lesbian to get married to...a marriage of convenience...I want to fit in with the society. IF ONLY the Koran had approved of homosexuality, I would have lived my life my way and cared a fudge about what other people said. The Koran is also totally silent on lesbianism.
Some people argue that the Koran also does not mention any punishment for rape...so does that mean rapes are allowed? So how can you say the same about homosexual acts?
Have I found the answers? No I haven't. And I probably never will, until God chooses to reveal something to me, or until I'm resurrected.
God bless....

Peace Bookish,
I had trichotillomania when I was 12. Trichotillomania is the urge to pull one's hair. I have experienced it. I couldn't help pulling my hair until I turned half-bald. I lost self-confidence and. I didn't want to talk to people. Since then I have often had depression. I didn't even know why I pulled my hair. I wanted to stop but always failed.
Now my hair looks normal although it is not as normal as before I became trichotillomanic.
I consider it as a test.People with bipolar disorder, they often attempt suicide. And what do you think of suicide? They are also tested by God. People around them have to also help them by giving moral and mental supports to stop being suicidal.
Were you also attracted to same-sex people during your childhood? Since when did you realize that.you were homosexual? If you want to believe in God and that Qur'an is from God, do you think you can or need to struggle to overvome homosexuality?
Answering Islam? Well that website is so biased against islam. At least Qur'an never commands people to punish homosexuals as universal law.
What does the Bible say about Homosexuals? I haven't read Bible about that.I am sorry if I have offended you.

Peace bookish.
I am certain Qoran has all the answers you are looking for
We have revealed to you clarifying revelations, and examples from the past generations, and an enlightenment for the righteous.
Also this life s a trial for every individual
We will surely test you through some fear, hunger, and loss of money, lives, and crops. Give good news to the steadfast.
Stories and history in the Qoran are meant to teach us today, for our everyday life and was never meant only for the previous generations. Our generation, at this time of our life, needs this guidance and this kind of justice now as much as the previous generations needed them and even more. Only the true believers will hear and obey, while the hypocrites and disbelievers will try to find excuses not to follow the rules and commandments of God.
Only God is able to guide you and help you find a path that wipes out the guilt you feel. You have to put your trust in Him alone. It does not matter what we say or think.
Before we judge anyone God advises us ;
O you who believe, if a wicked person brings any news to you, you shall first investigate, lest you commit injustice towards some people, out of ignorance, then become sorry and remorseful for what you have done.
God knows what is inside you heart, how you feel and how sincere you are in seeking Him.
God also is forgiver ,most merciful if you feel you have done wrong?
This is God's grace and mercy towards you. God is Redeemer, Most Wise.
Seek a true relationship with your creator. That is more important than what anyone says or thinks.then God will guide your heart.
Peace to you.

Salaam Yuliana,
I think you must not compare homosexuality with brain disorders. It might be the case that homosexuality is innate in individuals to varying degrees. Not to be interfering but what you said to bookish seems a bit... harsh. We need to remember that homosexuality occurs in nature too and they do not have the same kind of consciousness as we do and still they are homosexual.
Like I mentioned in a previous post; this kind of phenomenon may be a test from God.
God bless you

I didn't compare homosexuality to brain disorders. I just gave examples of hard tests from God.
If you want to justify homosexuality using homosexuality in animals, it is an insult to gays and lesbians because animals also practise eating babies of same species and the animals practise paedophilia so don't equate human homosexualilty with animals' nature please.

Homosexuality is separate from homosexual acts, be sure of that.
Both medicine, psychology, and the observation of nature proclaim that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. The argument of "if it is a disorder" was just to nullify a possible claim that those with disorders (any disorder) cannot be a muslim.
Freud thought that all humans were inherently bisexual. I don't know that I agree with him, but ALLAH knows best.
Answering Islam is a website that has an agenda--to promote Trinitarian Christianity. To promote this agenda, it will stoop to any means. Truth will stand on its own merits, but be cautious when dealing with places that have agendas.
I'm not sure that AQ is totally silent on lesbians.
415 And those of your women who commit lewdness, you shall bring four witnesses over them from among you; if they bear witness, then you shall restrict them in the homes until death terminates their lives, or GOD makes for them a way out.
416 And the two men who commit it from among you, you shall trouble them. If they repent and amend, then leave them alone. GOD is Redeemer, Merciful.
However, in both cases there must be lots of witnesses--people who have seen with their own eyes. These verses may be referring to homosexual acts when the doer is already married to somebody else (adultery).
AQ is against rape and all other forms of aggression.
733 Say "My Lord has made unlawful lewdness; what is evident of it and what is subtle; and sin, and aggression without cause, and that you set up partners with God that which He has never authorized, and that you say about GOD what you do not know."
A punishment may actually have been specified 100 lashes.
242 The adulteress and the adulterer, you shall lash each of them with one hundred lashes, and do not let any pity overtake you regarding the system of GOD if you believe in God and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.
Some translations say "fornicator and fornicatress", although a victim would be excluded.
AQ is a book of the Deen--it doesn't talk about things outside the Deen.
Many people follow their desires when it comes to interpreting/understanding about the people of Lot. Here is what AQ states
780 And Lot, he said to his people "Do you commit lewdness such as none of those of the worlds had done before?"
781 "You are approaching the men out of desire instead of the women! Indeed, you are a transgressing people."
It is clear that 780 is not referring to homosexuality, which long predates the people of Lot. In 781, the people are publicly acting on lust--and this is exacerbated by the fact that it is on the same gender! It is against the Deen for a man to approach a woman merely out of lust...and it wasn't okay to approach men out of lust either.
Don't worry about the "haters." Be a good person, be faithful, stay a monotheist...ALLAH is Merciful and the best of Judges.
Even if homosexual acts are considered a sin (I find no evidence supporting this), please consider the following
2362 And We do not burden a soul except with what it can bear. And We have a record that speaks with the truth, they will not be wronged.
5332 They avoid major sins and lewdness, except for minor offences. Your Lord is with vast forgiveness. He has been fully aware of you since He initiated you from the earth, and while you were embryos in the wombs of your mothers. Therefore, do not ascribe purity to yourselves; He is fully aware of the righteous.
May ALLAH see fit to Guide all seekers.
peace

Muslims, I am not interested in reading about slaves citing the Qur'an it makes me jump. So get a better translaiton of it. Because, as it is I am not taking any notice.
Salam
Aren't you the one who are referring me the ayat for supporting your conclusion that "sex is marriage?" nope
Why you keep forgetting what you've said?
(another example, refer here and here)
Below is how you are referring me the ayat...
4.25 ...and give them (women) their dues with equity with their virtue, without impropriety nor taking them as secret partners...
?where do you see here a marriage as distinct from a sexual relationship? The sexual relationship by itself is sacred according to God in the Qur'an, it is men's lustful, bestial leanings, which devoid sex form its sacred character making out of it a pastime, and which makes of some women, prisoners of a "legal marriage, and makes of other women prostitutes, because the "users choose to make it secret and a pastime.
and this is my reply...
The following is the ayat you are referring to, which I still cannot understand how it is supporting your argument that the context of the ayat is explaining "marriage is sex, and sex is marriage". It is totally irrelevant to your conclusion.
Please refer to the ayat and explain.
Topic Permission to marry Slave Girls
(click the link to read full reason)
conclusion...
It is clear that Allah is explaining "the practice of marrying slave girls", when, who, what, how it is allowed and prohibited. Allah is explaining "how to select slave girls for wife". Allah has prohibited to marry "slave girl that commit unlawful intercourse randomly or who take lovers". Allah is not explaining about sex, or "marriage is sex, and sex is marriage".
Please explain how the above ayat is explaining your conclusion that "marriage is sex, and sex is marriage". hmm
still no answer with various excuses...
Do you mind.. please refer me to the ayat rather than jumping from one issue to the other, ignoring all questions with blank denials or personal opinions. You have answered none from the Qur'an, and none from my counter arguments.
and now you are saying...
Muslims, I am not interested in reading about slaves citing the Qur'an it makes me jump. So get a better translaiton of it. Because, as it is I am not taking any notice.
and here is various translations on (4.25), it is all about marrying slave girls.. and none is supporting your conclusion that "sex is marriage", including the non-muslim translation on the Qur'an.
Muhammad Asad
And as for those of you who, owing to circumstances, are not in a position to marry free believing women, believing maidens from among those whom you rightfully possess. And God knows all about your faith; each one of you is an issue of the other. Marry them, then, with their people's leave, and give them their dowers in an equitable manner - they being women who give themselves in honest wedlock, not in fornication, nor as secret love-companions. And when they are married, and thereafter become guilty of immoral conduct, they shall be liable to half the penalty to which free married women are liable. This to those of you who fear lest they stumble into evil. But it is for your own good to persevere in patience and God is much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace.M. M. Pickthall
And whoso is not able to afford to marry free, believing women, let them marry from the believing maids whom your right hands possess. Allah knoweth best (concerning) your faith. Ye (proceed) one from another; so wed them by permission of their folk, and give unto them their portions in kindness, they being honest, not debauched nor of loose conduct. And if when they are honourably married they commit lewdness they shall incur the half of the punishment (prescribed) for free women (in that case). This is for him among you who feareth to commit sin. But to have patience would be better for you. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.Shakir
And whoever among you has not within his power ampleness of means to marry free believing women, then (he may marry) of those whom your right hands possess from among your believing maidens; and Allah knows best your faith you are (sprung) the one from the other; so marry them with the permission of their masters, and give them their dowries justly, they being chaste, not fornicating, nor receiving paramours; and when they are taken in marriage, then if they are guilty of indecency, they shall suffer half the punishment which is (inflicted) upon free women. This is for him among you who fears falling into evil; and that you abstain is better for you, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.Yusuf Ali (Saudi Rev. 1985)
If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess And Allah hath full knowledge about your faith. Ye are one from another Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.Yusuf Ali (Orig. 193
If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess And God hath full knowledge about your faith. Ye are one from another Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permis sion) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
And whoever of you is not affluent to be able to marry the ones who are free, chaste females, the female believers, then, from females whom your right hands possessed, the ones who are female spiritual warriors, female believers And God is greater in knowledge about your belief. You are of one another. So marry them (f) with the permission of their people, and give them (f) their bridal due as one who is honorable, they being ones who are free, chaste females, without being ones who are licentious females, nor females, ones who take lovers to themselves. And when they (f) are in wedlock, if they (f) approached indecencies, then on them is half of the ones who are free, chaste females of the punishment. That is for those who dreaded fornication among you. And that you endure patiently is better for you. God is Forgiving, Compassionate.Wahiduddin Khan
If any of you cannot afford to marry a free believing women let him marry one of his believing maids whom he possesses. God best knows your faith. You are one of another. So marry them with their owners permission, and give them their dower according to what is fair, neither committing fornication nor taking secret paramours. And if, after they are married, they commit adultery they shall have half the punishment prescribed for a free woman. This is for those of you who fear lest he should fall into sin. But that it is better for you to practise self restraint. God is most forgiving and merciful.T.B.Irving
Any of you who cannot afford to marry respectable believing matrons, should then one of your believing maids under your control. God is quite Aware as to what your faith consists of. Each one of you has ties to others, so marry them off with their family?s consent and give them their marriage portions decently as matrons rather than taking them on as mistresses, nor having them as girlfriends. Once they are so married off and should they then commit some sexual offence, they should have half the punishment that matrons would receive. That goes for any of you who worries lest he may. not control his (sexual] impulses; however it is better for you to discipline yourselves. God is Forgiving, Merciful. And those of you who do not have enough resources to marry the Muslim, -women who enjoy civil liberty, may turn the course and resort to the young unmarried Muslim women among those reduced to a servile state; and Allah Knows best those of you who justify faith as a conviction operative on their character and will. You take them in marriage by permission of their guardians and pay them themselves, their dowers with good will, and choose those of them who are characterized with the attribute of chastity, faith and fidelity and ornamented with the flower of honesty and not enamoured of other men. And when once they are united in wedlock, they have to guard-themselves from being supposed (temptation). And should they commit themselves to an evil line of conduct, then they shall suffer for their offence, but their punishment shall be half that inflicted on free women for the same offence. Such course of action is ordained for those who are afraid to live in celibacy lest they commit themselves to an evil line of conduct and incur the undesirable consequence. And if you be patient and quietly await the course of events, it is better for you, and Allah is Ghafurun and Rahimun.
(2011 Edition)
And whoever of you cannot afford to marry the believing independent women, then from the still dependant believing young women. God is more aware of your faith, some of you to each other. You shall marry them with the permission of their parents and give them their wage in kindness; to be protected, not for illicit sex or taking lovers. If they become protected, then any of them who comes with lewdness shall have half the punishment of what is for the independent women of the retribution. This is for those who fear hardship from among you. But if you are patient it is better for you, and God is Forgiver, Merciful.Abdel Haleem

If they commit adultery when they are married, their punishment will be half that of free women. This is for those of you who fear that you will sin; it is better for you to practise selfrestraint. God is most forgiving and merciful,Abdul Majid Daryabadi
And whosoever of you has not ampleness of means that he may wed free believing women, let him wed such of the believing bondswomen as the right hands of you people own. And Allah noweth well your belief, ye are one from the other. O Ye may wed them then, with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers reputably as properly wedded women, not as fornicateresses, nor as those taking to themselves secret paramours. And when they have been wedded, if they commit an indecency, on them the punishment shall be a moiety of that for free wedded women. This is for him among you, who dreameth perdition; and that ye should abstain is better for you, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.Ahmed Ali
If one of you cannot afford to marry a believing gentlewoman (let him marry) a maid who is a believer. God is aware of your faith The one of you is of the other; so marry them with the consent of their people, and give them an appropriate dowry. They are women (seeking) wedlock, and not lechery, nor secretly looking for paramours. But if they are married and guilty of adultery, inflict on them half the punishment (enjoined) for gentlewomen. This is for those who are afraid of doing wrong. In case they can wait, it is better for them. God is forgiving and kind.Aisha Bewley
If any of you do not have the means to marry free women who are muminun, you may marry slavegirls who are muminun. Allah knows best about your iman; you are all the same in that respect. Marry them with their owners? permission and give them their dowries correctly and courteously as married women, not in fornication or taking them as lovers. When they are married, if they commit fornication they should receive half the punishment of free women. This is for those of you who are afraid of committing fornication. But being patient is better for you. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.Ali ?nal
If any of you cannot afford to marry free, believing women, (let them marry) believing maidens from among those whom your right hands possess. (Do not regard marriage to such believing maidens as a degradation. Rather, degradation is deviating into licentiousness without marrying.) God knows well all about your faith (and measures you by it); and (whether you be free or slaves) you are one from another (belonging, as believers, to the same faith and community). Marry them, then, with the leave of their guardians, and give them their bridal-due according to religiously lawful and customary good practice, they being women who give themselves in honest chastity, not in licentiousness, nor having secret love-companions. Then if they commit indecency after they have entered into wedlock, they shall be liable to half the penalty to which free (unmarried) women are liable. That (permission to marry slave-girls) is for those of you who fear to fall into sin (by remaining unmarried). But if you persevere (in self-restraint with no fear of falling into sin), that is better for you. And God is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate.Ali Quli Qara'i
As for those of you who cannot afford to marry faithful free women, then from what you own, from among your faithful slave-women. Your faith is best known to Allah; you are all similar . So marry them with their masters? permission, and give them their dowries in an honourable manner ? as are chaste women, not licentious ones or those who take paramours. But on marrying, should they commit an indecent act, then there shall be for them half the punishment for free women. This is for those of you who fear falling into fornication; but it is better that you be continent, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.Hamid S. Aziz
But whoever of you cannot marry free women who believe, then marry from what your right hands possess, believing maids; Allah knows best about your faith. You arise one from the other, so marry them with the permission of their people, and give them theirMuhammad Mahmoud Ghali
And whoever of you is unable to (provide) ample (means) for marrying (free) believing women in wedlock, then (let him take) from the believing handmaids that your right hands possess; and Allah knows best your belief, the ones of you are as the others (Literally Some of you are from some others, i.e., you are equal). So marry them by the permission of their families, (i.e. their folk) and bring them their rewards with beneficence, as (women) in wedlock, other than in fornication or taking mates to themselves. (So) when they are in wedlock, (then) in case they come up with an obscenity, (5) they shall have then half the torment of free women in wedlock. That is for the ones of you who are apprehensive of distress; (i.e., sin) (and) to be patient is more charitable for you; and Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.Muhammad Sarwar
If any of you do not have the means to marry a chaste believing woman, marry your believing slave-girls. God knows best about your faith. You have the same faith. Marry them with the permission of their masters and if they are chaste and have avoided fornication and amorous activities, give them their just dowries. If after marriage they commit adultery, they should receive half of the punishment of a free woman who has committed the same crime. This is for those who fear falling into evil. It is better for you to have self-control. God is All-forgiving and All-merciful.Muhammad Taqi Usmani
If one cannot afford to marry the free Muslim women, then (he may marry) the one you people own of your Muslim girls. Allah knows best about your faith. You are similar to each other. So, marry them with the permission of their masters, and give them their dues, as recognized, they being bound in marriage, not going for lust, nor having paramours. So, once they have been bound in marriage, then, if they commit a shameful act, they shall be liable to half of the punishment prescribed for the free women. That is for those of you who apprehend to indulge in sin. But that you be patient is better for you. Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful.Shabbir Ahmed
(As the Qur'an is being revealed to you (O Messenger), the emancipation of the slaves, male and female, is steadily taking place). A man among you who cannot find a free believing woman willing to marry him, should have no hesitation in asking the hand of a believing maiden from her guardian. Allah knows your beliefs and reiterates that all human beings are equal in the Sight of Allah (1770). Pay them a generous marital gift in kindness. They shall maintain moral behavior, by not committing adultery, or having secret relations. Since their upbringing has been deficient in the environment of slavery, their punishment will be half that of the free women, if they commit indecency after marriage. The permission to marry a bonded woman is for him who fears to commit sin. The better recourse is freeing her first from bondage. Men and women must be patient and exercise self-control while waiting to get married. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.Syed Vickar Ahamed
If any of you do not have the means with which to wed free believing women, they may wed believing (captive or slave) girls from among those whom your right hand possess And Allah has full knowledge about your Faith; You being one (individual different) from another. In every case, you are to wed them with the permission of their owners (guardians), and give them their dowries, according to what is reasonable They should be chaste, not lustful (nor sinful), nor taking (illicit) partners; And when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that of free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; But it is better for you that you practice self-control. And Allah is Often Forgiving (Ghafoor), Most Merciful (Raheem).Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)
And whoever among you cannot the means to marry free, believing women, then from those whom your right hands possess of believing slave girls. And Allah is most knowing about your faith. You are of one another. So marry them with the permission of their people and give them their due compensation according to what is acceptable. chaste, neither those who commit unlawful intercourse randomly nor those who take lovers. But once they are sheltered in marriage, if they should commit adultery, then for them is half the punishment for free women. This is for him among you who fears sin, but to be patient is better for you. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.Farook Malik
If any of you cannot afford to marry a free believing woman, let him marry one of his own slave girls who is a believer; Allah knows how good you are in your faith. You all belong to one and the same community. Marry them with the permission of their family and give them their fair dowry so that they may live a decent life in wedlock and not live as prostitutes or look for secret illicit relationships. Then if after marriage they commit adultery, they shall be given half the punishment prescribed for a free adulteress. The concession of such a marriage is for those of you who fear that they might commit a sin if they do not get married, but it is better for you to practice self- restraint. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.Dr. Munir Munshey
If any one of you lacks the means to wed a free believing woman, he may marry a believing woman among those (captives and slaves) your right hand possesses. Allah is well aware of your (state of) belief; you belong to one another. So, marry them with the permission of their family. Pay the women their ?mehar? _ (nuptial dowry) _ according to the customary manner. Let the women enter into wedlock, and not have illegal sexual liaisons, nor have secret paramours. After entering into wedlock, if such women commit a salacious act, (adultery), their punishment would be half of the punishment a free woman (committing the same offense) would receive. This (exemption of marrying captive women) is for the one who fears distress (from a lack of self-restraint). However, it is better for you to be patient and restrain yourself. Allah is the most Forgiving, and the most Merciful.Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
And whoever of you cannot afford to marry free believing women may marry those believing slave girls who are in your possession (under Islamic law). And Allah knows best (the state of) your belief. You (all) are one from another. So, marry these (slave girls) with the permission of their masters, and pay them their dowers according to custom, provided they are wedlocked (being chaste), neither committing illegal sex, nor taking secret lovers. If they commit fornication after they have entered into wedlock, their punishment will be the half of that (appointed) for free (unmarried) women. This permission is for him amongst you who fears (indulging in) sin, and if you practise self-restraint, that is better for you. And Allah is Most Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.Dr. Kamal Omar
And whoever does not have amongst you the means that he may take in wedlock Al-Muhsanat (the women living under protection of their parents and/or their brethren and/or their relatives) Al-Mominat (Believing women), then from amongst (the daughters of) what your right hands held in trust ? out of the girls (who are) Believers. And Allah is more Aware of your Faith. Some of you (are) from (some) others. So take those (daughters) in wedlock with the permission of the protecting guardian to these females ; and pay them their bridal money in a desirable way. (They should have the intention of staying as) protected females living in bond of marriage (and) not women who harbour fluid, temporary or shifting intentions, and not those women who pick up boy-friends (or lovers or paramours). And when they are provided protection (in marriage-bond) and if they come as one who is involved in the vulgar act (of adultery) ? then, for them (is) the half (of) that which is applicable to Al-Muhsanat as Al-Azab (this is the punishment of flogging mentioned in 24/2?9). This (permission, that a free man living fully protected in a family background may marry of his own free will a female whose family background has become unknown is) for that amongst you who became afraid of falling in sin (of committing pre-marital sex if he remains unmarried). And that you practice self-restraint ? would be better for you. And Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, continuously MercifulTalal A. Itani (new translation)

When they are married, if they commit adultery, their punishment shall be half that of free women. That is for those among you who fear falling into decadence. They should be chaste, not lustful, nor should they have illicit relationships. After they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into wrong, their punishment is half of that for mature women. This is for those among you who fear doing wrong. And it is better for you to practice self-restraint, but God is Oft-Forgiving, Mercifully Redeeming.Maududi
And those of you who cannot afford to marry free, believing women (muhsanat), then marry such believing women whom your right hands possess. Allah knows all about your faith. All of you belong to one another. Marry them, then, with the leave of their guardians, and give them their bridal-due in a fair manner that they may live in the protection of wedlock rather than be either mere objects of unfettered lust or given to secret love affairs. Then if they become guilty of immoral conduct after they have entered into wedlock, they shall be liable to half the penalty to which free women (muhsanat) are liable. Is reading the Qur'an make you a person like you are now?
I hope you can back up your conclusion with words from the Qur'an and appealing to solid evidence and rationality, rather than making decisions according to what might be pleasing to imagine or say; They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all (5328)

But here are some ayas
O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit the women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of what you have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good. (19)
But if ye decide to take one zawj (member of a couple) in place of another, even if ye had given one of them a whole treasure for dower, Take not the least bit of it back Would ye take it by slander and manifest wrong? (20)
And how could ye take it when ye have gone in unto each other, and they have Taken from you a solemn covenant? (21)
So what does this "you have gone unto each other" and this "solemn covenant" (mithaqan ghalidhan)stand for?

Thank you for this excellent, sincere and serious post!
It is hugely refreshing in this thread, polluted by some members who's only sport is to take ayats out of context and wave them to suit their narrow-mindedness...I admire your courage to speak openly about being gay, and you are perfectly right, others cannot understand it if they do not share the same inclination, you gave excellent examples.
I just wanted to say that the issue of homosexuality is not the only one that might make a person doubt if the Qur'an comes from God!
Perhaps the problem might reside in inadequate translations...A few days ago some women were punished in Saudi Arabia for driving a car. Does that mean that all other women in the world, who do drive cars, will go to hell?
Interpretations of the Qur'an might sometimes be utter nonsense...I would like to finish my post with this aya that made me think a lot yesterday, and I like it very much
Whatever you will is in accordance with GOD's will. GOD is Omniscient, Wise.
This aya is not so much influenced by the preceding one or the next one, so taken as it is, to me it means that we should be "straight-forwarded", "single-minded" and WHOLE in our will because we are always in accordance with God's will that is in us, since even the wishes are created by God as He created us too, and shaytan (devil) being the adversary, the opponent, is the one that makes us doubt and deviate from our own truth and our own nature in everything, not just in choices who do we love...

What really matters to Allah?
What is Allah like to see from us?
How a child can grow into an adult within 1 year?
How to grow into timber trees from seeds within 24 hours?
It is not the Sunnatullah and there is no target for becoming a Muslim.
Hijab is not the actual requirement in the Qur'an.
The actual requirement in the Qur'an is for human beings to learn, understand, and reform continuously for the better (istiqamah - changes from within ourselves comes first - roots of a tree).
It is the process of understanding that matter, not the end results (comparison - how can one expect to be free from shirk within a short period of time? Impossible!). Therefore it doesn't matter or less relevant to Islam if peoples wear Hijab or not, since it is not the real issue in Islam. In fact, it is the most irrelevant issue to the society (it is personal issue - 5105).
Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah

who do not use reason <- The importance of reason, and not becoming a robot (blind follower)

Salaam Yuliana,
If we did not have some "pre-programmed" barriers we would be pedophiles too. If we are honest, many male humans are turned on by very young females barely of breeding age, but because we have our conscience we put strains to ourselves. It is instincts which drives us to this the same as in animals which do not possess conscience as we do.
That ought to explain your question at least about pedophilia. I know it is disgusting, but it is at the same time the truth.
God bless you

I do not think homosexuality is one thing. It is like rashes on the skin. It may be a sign of something but not all the rashes are due to the same cause or a single cause. I think, I know, that there are so called homosexuals who chose to be so. Others didn't choose and may not help it. So the same as there are meny etiologies for rashes, there are many etiologies for "homosexuality". The fact that it is all bundled together as if it were the same thing does not help to give people the wisest treatment.
At any rate, sexuality, any form of it is part of the private life of people, and the private life of people is precisely that, private, and the sura an-N ur makes it abundantly clear that it is nobody's business to pry on what people do in private, because that is between them and God and the people they have intimacy with.
Lut's people were not "homosexuals", they were gangs and debauchers and agressors, and obiviously did not keep their "sexuality" private, if it was sexuality, because it looks rather that it was power-lust.

I wanted to ask if a person can be gay and Muslim?
Salam
A "Muslim" is about "Submission", and relating to the issue of "obedience" or "disobedience" (refer here).
"Believers" is about the whole system, the Sunnatullah, and mostly is related to the issue of "justly balanced", or any part of it. The Qur'an is about human beings, about us (refer here).
Therefore, the nearest conclusion we are able to make is there will never be "Gay Muslims", but there can be "Gay Believers". So as there will be a "Prostitute Believers", a "Robber Believers", or "Believers" in Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism or any other religions (refer here). Many of them can be Believers but not Muslims (refer here). They are the reformers of just and balance, reforming themselves and others for the better (refer here).
That's why Allah makes a distinction between a "Believer" and a "True Believer" (82).
The believers
ARE ONLY
those whowhen Allah is mentioned <- traits no (1)
their hearts become fearfuland when His verses are recited to them <- traits no (2)
it increases them in faithand upon their Lord they rely <- traits no (3)
(82)
cf. 82 and 28
Equally, the difference between true believers or reformers and the munafiqoon (corruptors on earth - continuance/context on ayat 211 - unjust).
And of the people are some who say
"We believe in Allah and the Last Day,"
but they are not believers
