I don't know what kind of religion allows having sex with slaves / servants, concubines. Men don't love their concubines. I don't understand why you guys keep saying that it is deen of peace but allows having sex with owned slaves / prisoners / captives / servants / maids. Seriously? Sometimes I feel like I wanna give up on religions.

concubine points to a relation without marriage contract. a simple verbal commitment.
if you read carefully verses where "ayman" appears, you will see that
Allah don't appreciate this kind of relation.
Allah encourages regularisation by "nikah contract".
Allah ask men to help their concubines marry other men if they don't want marry them
Allah opposes concubines to mohsanat (women with no financial need) in some verses
        ...

just replacing "slaves" by "concubines" in "olds" understandings is not sufficient.
concubines is not a "harem" concept.

        Peace

Not to be forgotten that women also have ma malakat ayman...

Ma is a pronoun for things = what

          What your right hands hold.

So it is not persons what is owned or held by that right hand, it is something but not a person. It should be something that pertains to a person, which may be a guardianship, a dependency, a pledge that ties one to the other... I think that mamalakat is a category or relationship between blood unrelated persons that entitles the held person to the protection, or the oversight, or the guarantee of the holder, obliging the held to faithfulness in whatever sphere he or she has undertaken the pledge.

          Salaam

it is a "romantic" perception. I like the way you thinked. But it is not true.
Concubinage is the kind of relation practiced now in many european countries.
in these relations, women have no "rights".
Quran says in 4-24, that "nikah contract" is an obligation with mohsanat (women with no financial needs).
but for women who have not "where to go", it can be tolerated.

Nikah Contract is mainly "a financial agreement". Married women have to take "wages" for the job.

                read carefully this

1671 And God has preferred some of you over others in provision. Yet, those who have been preferred will not relinquish their provision to those who MALAKAT AYMANOHOM, that they may become equal in it. Is it the favor of God that they deny?

24-33 ask men to marry with a concubine if she ask for that.

                Peace

So how many concubines can a man have? So he can 'do' all them?
So women can have their concubines too because there are also MMA that belong to women? -\

                    Salaam,

I think like some other people here think, that the phrase means those you are not married to but they are not married either, fiance/e. However, I believe that it is not okay just to have sex from right to left when it pleases you and a possibly pregnancy is a binding event. If you make the woman pregnant then you are stuck with responsibilities if you are truly a Muslim.

                    God bless you

Lets get off the sunni boat

if we can only have a sexual relationship with our wives and or malakat aymanokum then surely with our understanding of the Quran

Wives are malakat aymanokum = That to which you have a right over by way of their oath of marriage.

                            i think (see M Asad's translation)

                            peace

                              theorem
whenever there is a feminin concubine, there is masculine concubin.

you can traduce by girlfriend/boyfriend with sexual friendship if you want.

                              for the number. Only one.
there was only one exception, Muhammad. Allah allowed him to marry all the concubines he had before he received revelation in the "night of decree". After that, it was forbidden to him to take other spouses or to exchange one by another.
Verses to read carefully 33-50 to 33-52.

of course, you have to throw away the tale about the marriage with a woman called khadija.
Do you know , that in that "cendrilla" tale, where a princess married with the orphan Muhammed, father of the princess refused the marriage. To convince him, the tale says that the princes convinced his father by making him drunk ?
Can you accept this tale ?

                              Peace

Ma is not a person, that is clear, the persons over something of whom other has domain or authority are called by the thing itself, and the whole is shortened meaning the persons who have that thing over which others yamin malakat. I thought it was obvious, the same as when somebody asks for somebody else's hand in fact is not asking for her hand but for the whole of the person in marriage.

The point is that nobody is being the owner or possessor of anubody else, but merely hold some office concerning that person.

                                Salaam

"Mamalakat Aymanukum" means different things in different verses. For example

It may mean here " What you already have"?

                                    Or

It may mean here"What is permitted to you"?

As far as I understand it does ot mean the same thing in all the verses.

                                    Pace to you

Ma is not a person, that is clear, the persons over something of whom other has domain or authority are called by the thing itself, and the whole is shortened meaning the persons who have that thing over which others yamin malakat. I thought it was obvious, the same as when somebody asks for somebody else's hand in fact is not asking for her hand but for the whole of the person in marriage.

The point is that nobody is being the owner or possessor of anubody else, but merely hold some office concerning that person.

                                      Salaam

                                      Salaam,

I don't think I understand your point. Can you please rephrase it? Thanks.

                                      May Allah bless you pr

                                        Peace Godsubmitter.

"Mamalakat Aymanukum" means different things in different verses. For example

It may mean here " What you already have"?

                                        Or

It may mean here"What is permitted to you"?

As far as I understand it does ot mean the same thing in all the verses.

                                        Pace to you

Thank you for your kindness )

                                          salaam
                                          theorem
whenever there is a feminin concubine, there is masculine concubin.

you can traduce by girlfriend/boyfriend with sexual friendship if you want.

                                          for the number. Only one.
there was only one exception, Muhammad.

                                          Peace

                                          Peace Brother Noshirk,

I have checked the meaning and definition of concubinage on Wikipedia. I kinda agree with your views on MMA but concubinage is always associated with harems. I prefer the use of "de facto spouses" rather than concubines to translate ma malakat ayman.

                                          What say you? ;D

                                          Regards,
                                          Yuliana
