What is Quranic Salat - Part 1

At the beginning of my journey to find true islam, I was very confused about what Salat means. Perhaps I was brainwashed by religious scholars, culture and the media. Because almost everything I knew about islam was from the media, from culture and from religious scholars. I had almost no knowledge about Salat from a Quranic perspective. And perhaps my lack of knowledge hindered me from understanding what Salat really means.

It seems that in the beginning of their journey, many muslims who follow islam based on the Quran (monotheism), are confused about what Salat is and how many times a day they should do Salat according to the Quran. Perhaps the reason why they don't know what Salat is and how many times a day they should do Salat according the Quran, is because they have a wrong approach to Salat. It seems that they are trying to understand what Salat is from a traditional islamic perspective. It appears that they are trying to understand what Salat is by looking through a Sunni lens. In my view, when a person is trying to understand a quranic concept from a Sunni perspective, it's no wonder that the person becomes confused and thinks that the concept of Salat is hard/difficult to understand. In my opinion, trying to understand a Quranic concept from a Sunni perspective is like trying to understand the rules of Soccer by reading about the rules of Volleyball. I think that if you want to understand what the rules of soccer are, then you HAVE TO read about the rules of soccer. I think that one can't understand what the rules of soccer are by reading about the rules of Volleyball. Because soccer and volleyball are TWO COMPLETELY different sports with completely different rules. If one tries to understand what Quranic Salat is from a Sunni perspective, then one is doing a huge mistake, in my opinion. Because this seems to imply that one has a biased approach to Salat.

As mentioned earlier, trying to understand a Quranic concept from a Sunni perspective is like trying to understand the rules of Soccer by reading about the rules of Volleyball. Many muslims seem to believe that salat has to be performed in a traditional way and 5 times a day. It appears that many muslims have been brainwashed to believe that Quranic Salat is identical to Shia/Sunni Salat. If this is true, then this explains why so many muslims become confused once they realize that "islam based on the Quran" does not contain the same details about Salat as traditional islam. Many traditional muslims claim that the details of how to do Salat (the sunni and shia way) is not found in the Quran. And they believe that since the details of how to do Salat (the sunni and shia way) is not found in the Quran, then this means that one must follow Hadith in addition to the Quran, if one wants islam to be a complete deen (way of life). The notion that the Quran does not contain the details of Salat is a myth, in my opinion. As far as I know, there are more than 30 verses in the Quran where the word Salat is mentioned. And in my view, the Quranic verses about Salat tells us exactly what Salat means. When people say that the Quran doesn't contain the details of Salat, then they seem to ignore/reject the fact that the Quran says that it is FULLY DETAILED. In other words, they seem to ignore God's words when God says that the Quran is FULLY DETAILED. In verse 6114, the Quran states that the sacred/divine book is FULLY DETAILED. And since the Quran states that is FULLY DETAILED, then this means that the Quran contains all the details we need to know about Salat.

Quran 752 And We have come to them with a Book which We have detailed with knowledge; a guidance and a mercy to those who believe.

As you can see in verse 752, it suggests that the Quran is detailed with knowledge for those who believe. Since the Quran suggests that it's detailed with knowledge for those who believe, then this means that the Qur'an contains all the details we need to know about Salat. I believe that all the verses in the Quran contains the words of God. And I believe that God speaks the truth. I think that God does not lie to humans. To say that the Qur'an lacks the details to do Salat, might be the same as saying that God is lying when God is saying that the Quran is detailed. When the Quran states that it's detailed with knowledge, then this means that the Qur'an contains all the details we need to know about Salat. I think that those who claim that the Koran isn't detailed when it comes Salat, have either not studied the Quran well enough, or they have been looking/searching (in the Quran) for the Sunni/Shia way to do/perform Salat. I think that searching for the Sunni/Shia islamic details of Salat in the Quran, is like looking for the rules of Volleyball in a book about the rules of Soccer. Finding the rules of Volleyball in a "book about the rules of soccer", seems to be an impossible task. Because a "book about the rules of Soccer" contains the rules of Soccer, not the rules of Volleyball. If Sunni/Shia islam contains some details of Salat that are NOT in the Quran, then this might suggest that these details are non-Quranic. And in my view, all islamic teachings that are non-Quranic doesn't belong to islam based on the Quran (monotheism). And it seems that true islam is based solely/entirely on the Quran. I think that the Quran is the only book in islam that contains the words of God. And I believe that Hadith books contain the words of humans.

If you are looking for the Sunni/Shia way to do Salat, then I can't give you any advice my brothers and sisters. But if you want to do Salat the Quranic way, all of the quranic verses about Salat, explain exactly what Salat is and how many times a day we should do/perform Salat. Thus I recommend reading all the verses about Salat in the Quran. And when you have read all of those verses, you will know how to do Salat according to the Quran. Also, don't forget that patience is the key to the right understanding of Salat.

      Taro,

SA. I recommend you start using unitarianism and not monotheism. Even Trinitarian Christians are monotheists. Muslims, and especially Quranists, are unitarians (muwa77idoon). Although neither monotheist, nor unitarian, are words found in the Quran, just like the term Quranists, we support and embrace these ideas as they represent the message we see in the Quran.

I believe in God alone. And I think the belief in God alone = monotheism. That being said, you might be right when you say that the word monotheist isn't found in the Quran.

Quran 367 Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Nazarene, but he was a monotheist who submitted; he was not of the polytheists.

        Quran 367 m? k?na ibr?h?mu yah?diyyan wal? naSr?niyyan wal?kin k?na Han?fan musliman wam? k?na mina al-mushrik?na

Perhaps the word Haneefan musliman in the above-mentioned verse, has been mistranslated.

In my view, the Quran encourage us to call ourselves submitters/peacemakers. Because the word muslim apparently means submitter/peacemaker.

Quran 4133 And who is better in saying than he who invites to God, and does good works, and says "I am one of those who have submitted."

Quran 4133 waman aHsanu qawlan mimman da? ilay al-lahi waamila S?liHan waq?la innan? mina al-muslim?na

"Muslim" has been dragged through mud and blood by the pagan religion of Islam."Monotheist" has also been dragged through mud and blood by other religious groups. There is NO such thing as a monotheistic or peaceful religion for they all set up partners with GOD and murder, oppress and rape fellow humans in the name of GOD hence why I do not use any of these labels.

Those who are self-aware and establish contact(salat) with the Creator do not need labels for the Creator knows what is in their hearts. No labels required. The Creator is sufficient as a witness.
Labels such as Muslim and monotheist give religious people the illusion of righteousness. Never label yourself, rather scrutinize yourself and your views. Labels prevent you from doing such.

What is Quranic Salat - Part 2

Hadith books don't contain the words of God. Quranic teachings = God's teachings. Non-Quranic teachings = Man-made teachings. The biggest challenge muslims face today is to separate truth from falsehood. Because today, Quranic teachings have been mixed with man-made teachings. Thus, falsehood has become mixed with the truth. But the good news is that as long as one only uses the Quran as a source of law and guidance in islam, one can't fail. Because the Quran is fully detailed. The Quran contains everything we need to know to live a good life on earth and get rewarded in the next life (Akhirah). In addition to being fully detailed, the Quran suggests that the word of God has been completed/perfected with truth and justice. And since the word of God has been completed/perfected with truth and justice, there is no need for extra-quranic/non-quranic teachings in islam . In verse 6115, the Quran suggests that the word of God is completed with truth and justice.

Quran 6115 The word of your Lord has been completed with truth and justice; there is no changing His words. He is the Hearer, the Knower.

All laws/commandments and principles/values pertaining to islam can be found in the Quran. If God needed other books than the Quran, to explain the Quran, then God wouldn't be omnipotent. Because if an entity is omnipotent, then it must be able to express it's teachings with few words (e.g. only through one book). Traditional muslims claim that we need Hadith books to explain the Quran. But if we need hadith books to explain the Quran, then this suggest that God can't explain all his teachings through 1 book (the Quran). But God is omipotent. And God doesn't run out of words. Therefore, God is able to explain all his teachings through 1 book (the Quran). In verse 3127, the Quran suggests that God does not run out of words.

Quran 3127 If all the trees on earth were made into pens, and the ocean were supplied by seven more oceans, the words of God would not run out. God is Noble, Wise.

If you have bias/preconceived notions when it comes to Salat, and you believe that Salat should be performed in a certain way, exactly 5 times a day, it might be difficult for you to understand what Salat really means, how you should do/perform Salat and how many times a day you should do/perform Salat. If you have bias/preconceived notions when it comes to Salat, you will have a filter in your mind, which makes you hear only what you want to hear and reject/ignore what you don't want to hear. If you have bias/preconceived notions, your mind might block new information that goes against what you have been taught to believe about Islam. Therefore, bias/preconceived notions is an enemy of logic, reason and open-mindedness. The truth is that almost everything we have learned about Islam has been based on non-quranic/extra-quranic sources.

When it comes to islam, it seems that many people have been deceived, misinformed and brainwashed by culture, media and religious scholars. Because "islam based on the Quran" is completely different than traditional Islam (Sunni and Shia). To learn what "Quran based islam" really is, one must first unlearn everything one has learned about traditional islam. One must discard all falsehood that occupies space in ones mind. And then one must relearn everything about islam. A story which is attributed to Bruce Lee, illustrates this in a good way. According to this story, a martial arts master asked Bruce Lee if he could teach him everything he knew about martial arts. Bruce Lee lifted up two cups, and both cups were filled with water. Bruce Lee said, the first cup represents all of your knowledge about martial arts, and the second cup represents all of my knowledge about martial arts. Then Bruce Lee said, if you want to fill your cup with my knowledge, then you must first empty your cup of your own knowledge. The story of Bruce Lee, has taught me a valuable lesson. It has taught me that if one wants to acquire the best knowledge regarding islam, then one has to start with a blank sheet. One has to empty ones own cup. Because when the cup is empty, it will have much space. And when it has the much space, it will be easy to fill it with lots of new knowledge. It seems that if one wants to aquire the best knowledge regarding islam, one has to start with an empty cup. The Quran suggests the guided ones are the ones who follow the best knowledge regarding islam.

Quran 3918 The ones who listen to the word, and then follow the best of it. These are the ones whom God has guided, and these are the ones who possess intelligence.

So what is Quranic Salat? Well, I believe that the Quran speaks about everything we need to know regarding Salat. In my view, the Quran informs us about what Salat really means, how we should do/perform Salat and and how many times a day we should do/perform Salat.

I agree, and I wish more of the people who call themselves muslims will realize this someday.

I'm aware that there are differences (in understanding) among of those who follow the Qur'an. However, up until now, I do not see that their differences cause bloodshed, I do not see that people who follow the Qur'an easily to kill their bothers/sisters, meanwhile there were many bloodshed among those so-called "muslims" who still follow falsehood teachings that have no basis in the Qur'an.

I think that those who follow the Qur'an'an and promote God alone are much much more peaceful than those so-called "muslims" who still adhere to man-made hadiths blindly and follow their scholars/imams.

"And establish prayer at the two ends of the day being the closest times (the day) of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember."...So pray at the time of day that is also night...i.e. sundown, sunrise and twilight.

5039...Glorify God with his praise at (qabl) sunrise and sundown. Here qabl preferably means 'in the presence of' like 'Al-rajulu yaqoomu qabli' or 'the man stands before me.'

                  7626...prostrate at night

2564 And those who prostrate and stand at night before their lord.

1958, 1778, 2945 recite Quran before bowing and during prayer.

                  Salaam

And say Allahu Akbar 17111. If you like al-kabeer that's fine too. But Akbar is to use the highest form of kabeer that can even trump kubar or kubarah.

This will happen in the future, God willing. It seems that there are many members in the Quranic community that are working hard to make this dream a reality (e.g. Edip Yuksel, Layth al-Shaiban, Ayman Mohamed, Kassim Ahmad and Muhammad Shahrour).

I believe that we are very fortunate to be living in the information age. For the first time in history, the information age enables us to share knowledge/information to an international audience almost instantaneously. The internet enables us to spread the message of Quran-based islam to many people in a very short period of time. We are living in a golden age of technology. We are indeed living in a revolutionary era. There is no time better than now to change the course of history. All we need is the knowledge, the skill and the will to spread the message of Quran-based islam far and wide and make this dream a reality.

It's about the 'wa.' Do you see it as something that creates a separate time or as clarifying what has already been said? It can perform both functions. Additionally, in reality, after sundown you are in both the night and the daylight at the same time. You could say this verse is mutashaabihah because there are two possibilities here. However, if it is mutashaabihah then we should find a mu7kamah verse about the prayer times to clear it up. I think the most mu7kamah verse about the prayers is 2458. All the verses about Salaat can be understood as referring to these 2 times for Salaat.

                        Salaam

                          peace JL, Anwar, all,

I still don't understand 11114. I thought it mentions three Salat times.

Unfortunately, many interpret this verse according to their bias. Theoretically, there is more than one way to interpret this verse with regard to the "how many salat" question, as bro Anwar has mentioned above.

HOWEVER the evidence suggests one option is the strongest option. The literal translation of this verse is

"...uphold the salat at both/two edges of the daytime and the proximal/adjacent/near parts* of the night..."

*Arabic plural meaning 3 or more.

                          I recommend reading points 3, 12, 13 here
                          http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/problems-5-salat-Quran.html

                          That should help clarify.

Additionally, in reality, after sundown you are in both the night and the daylight at the same time.

After sundown/sunset it is layl/night according to Quran. See above link for info also.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

                            Wakas,

I agree with what you say here. This was my opinion until a few years ago when I began to see that twilight is both the nahaar and the layl. Even with this slight change in perspective my interepretation of zulafan minal-layli still implies twilight because it these are the parts of the night that are the closest to the day and the end of the day (nahar and layl actually coexist during twilight, and you can't get any closer than that.).

                            Peace
                            Anwar

                              Peace JavaLatte,

I thought it mentions three Salat times.

Do you believe in three Salat per day? If the answer to that question is yes, do you have any Quranic evidence which supports your claim?

So what is Quranic Salat? Well, I believe that the Quran speaks about everything we need to know regarding Salat. In my view, the Quran informs us about what Salat really means, how we should do/perform Salat and and how many times a day we should do/perform Salat.

                                Couldn't agree more, Taro Hiroshi.

IMHO, salaat is uphold God's reminder (dhikr).

2014 "I am God, there is no god except Me, so serve Me and uphold commitment (wa aqimisalaata) for My reminder

God's reminder for mukmin is Quran. So, basically following God's rule in Quran is a form of salaat.

I agree with you regarding Quran speaks about every thing we need to know regarding salaat.

To uphold commitment (salaat) for God's reminder (Quran), first we need to start reading.

4103 ..Indeed, the commitment for the believers is a Book that is scheduled.

First thing about salaat is we are commanded to read the Quran on daily basis, scheduled. You can do it while you're standing, or sitting, or on your sides.

So I set my personal alarm like this

                                http//s19.postimg.org/d04hn53gf/quranal.jpg

                                based on

11114 And uphold the commitment at two ends of the day, and the near side of the night. The good deeds take away the bad. This is a reminder to those who remember.

1778 Uphold the commitment at the rubbing of the sun, until the darkening of the night; and the Qur'an at dawn-the Qur'an at dawn is witnessed

"Quranal fajri" means reading at the dawn and "bacaan petang" means reading at the dusk.

                                and additional reading at night

1779 And from the night, as an addition, you shall reflect upon it for yourself, perhaps your Lord would grant you a station that is praiseworthy.

this additional reading has been explained in detail in following verses

7320 Your Lord knows that you rise a little less than two thirds of the night, and half of it, and one third of it; and a group of those who are with you. And God measures the night and the day. He knows that you will not be able to keep-up, so He pardons you. So read what is made easy of the Quran. He knows that there will be sick among you, and others that go forth in the land seeking from the bounty of God, and others who are fighting in the cause of God, so read what you can of it..

Just read as much as you can for additional reading.

Ok, so now uphold commitment (aqimusalaa) to kitabun mawqutan (a Book that is scheduled) is already clear to me. What's next?

Uphold commitment for the things I've already know from kitab.

                                For example

Being honest and trustworthy in business/trading

Salatil min Yaumil Jumuah explain so much about this..

before go to the verses I would like to share my understanding about yaumil jumuah

Yaumil Jumuah/Gathering Day (629) = Yawmil Jam'i/Gathering Day (649) = Yaumul Taghabuni/Day of mutual gain and loss (in the context of trading) (649) = Yaumil Qiyamati/the Day of assembly (4526) = Yaumun la bay'un/ No trading day (2254).

So the Yaumil Jumuah (gathering day) must be understood that it is not Friday or the sixth day in a week, but it's the day which hasn't come yet, and will be coming someday and also known as the day of ressurection.

                                Ok so let see,

629 yayyuh alladhnaman idh ndiya lilssalati min yawmil-jumuati fa-is'aw il dhik'ri l-lahi wadhar l-bay'a dhlikum khayrun lakum in kuntum ta'lamna
629 O you who believe, when the call is made for the commitment of the day of gathering, then you shall hasten towards the remembrance of God, and cease all trading. This is better for you, if only you knew.

Please be aware that the verse has used the word min before the yaumil jumuah to prevent the meaning "at the day". So it should be "of the day".

There are three things in the verse

                                • Calling the commitment of the yaumil jumuah
                                • Get back to the dhikr'i (N) or God's reminder
                                • Cease all trading

So context here is about business/trading. How to perform business/trading according to the dhikri (God's reminder/Al Quran). As you can see in 629 and 649, that Yawmil Jumuah in 629 has the same word with the Yawmil Jam'i in 649. And in 649 you can find that Yawmil Jam'i also known as Yawmun Taghabuni, or The Day mutual gain or loss or cheat in business/trading, the same thing you can find in 2254, Yaumun la bay'un.

649 The Day when He will gather you; the Day of Gathering; that is the Day of mutual gain and loss. And whoever believes in God and does good works, He will forgive his sins, and will admit him into estates with rivers flowing beneath them, abiding therein eternally. Such is the great triumph.

What we can find that Salaa in 629 means commitment to prepare ourselves before the day of gathering (also known as no trading day) comes. How to perform business/trading according to Quran.

Why we need to cease the trading then?

It caused by one of basic principles of business/trading is not easy to understand for some people as shown in the following verse

2275 Those who consume usury (riba) do not rise except as one being influenced by the touch of the devil. That is because they have said "Trade is the same as usury (riba)." While God has made trade lawful, and He has made usury unlawful. Whoever has received understanding from His Lord and ceases, then he will be forgiven for what was before this and his case will be with God. But whoever returns, then they are the people of the Fire, in it they will abide.

So the believer must stop for a while to understand how the trading works, how the trading different than usury.

And if the commitment has been made or the concept has been fully understood, the believer can continue to the business.

6210 Then, once the commitment is completed, you shall disperse through the land and seek the provisions of God, and remember God frequently that you may succeed.

Others basic principles of trading could be found in 2188, 2282, 1735, and 2437.

                                Adhere to the agreement

2177 ...and those who keep their pledges when they make a pledge..

When you do a business, just keep adhere to your agreement. That's a salaat (commitment).

Avoid to have a business deal with your partners while you get drunk, unless you know what you're saying.

443 O you who believe, do not come near the commitment while you are intoxicated, until you know what you are saying.

this is to avoid you have promised on something that you can't remember or fulfill.

The reason behind this is clear

591 The devil only wants to cause strife between you through intoxicants (khamr) and gambling, and to repel you away from remembering God and from the commitment. Will you be deterred?

One more example regarding the will

5106 O you who believe, witnessing shall be done if death is approaching one of you and a will is being made-by two who are equitable amongst you. Or, by two man other than you if you have gone forth in the land and death is approaching. If you have doubt regarding them, then you will hold them after making the commitment, and let them swear by God "We will not purchase with it any price, even if it was from a near relative, and we will not conceal the testimony of God, else we are of the sinners.

Imagine when you are travelling to other countries, let say Peru, South America. And something serious happen, the death is approaching. You are trying to make a will for your families and others, but you cannot find "people among you" means in the same creed. There is a lawyer and his associates willing to help but they are both Christians. You just simply ask them to uphold commitment (salaat) and let them swear by the God. This is to uphold the commitment to God's reminder.

Basic concept of salaat is universal. Means that it will be easily understood by the people regardless their creed.

                                So my conclusions

                                • If you're study quran at the dawn, and dusk until night, you upholding salaat
                                • If you avoid riba in business, being honest and trustworthy in trading, you upholding salaat
                                • If you managed to reject bribery, you upholding salaat
                                • If you have power and stay away from corruption, you upholding salaat
                                • If you keep your pledge while making a pledge, you upholding salaat
                                • If you managed to control the passions of lust, avoid cheating on your marriage, you upholding salaat
                                • If you wish to feed the poor and the orphans, you upholding salaat
                                • If you only use the original software, not making a piracy, only purchase music/videos from the official store, you upholding salaat
                                • and so on so forth

There's a lot of explanation in Quran regarding salaat depends on its context, and how to uphold it. All we need to do is study it based on prescribed schedule.

This is the goal of salaat

2945 Recite what is inspired to you of the Book and uphold the commitment, for the commitment prohibits immorality and vice; but certainly the reminder of God is the greatest. God knows everything you do.

Only your commitment will prohibits immorality and evil deeds.

                                Salaam

                                  Peace All.

The mind boggles. In my search ,I have come across hundreds, yes at least hundreds of different explanations, even among those that agree with say 0,2, 3 ,5 or more salat, differ on their understanding of where it is exactly in Qoran .

What is "duluk" what is "zulafan" what is "subh" what is "tasbih",what is "sujud", what is "rakah" what is ...You name it about salat, you find many opinions on it.

Simple you say, thereare even those who use "number theory " on it ,for example
                                  http//universalunity.org/17.html

                                  Are you serious ?
Anyway ,the discussion about salat continues...
A warning to those new to all these views about salat, follow your understanding for now until you have no doubts from your own research what to do!
Do not hastily follow anyone, ask your Creator to guide you to the right "salat" and be patient with your own understanding, until you reach your own certainty.
I connect 5 times a day with my Creator. So far I have not seen any evidence to the contrary. In fact my own research /study of Qoran has confirmed for me to stay with these 5 connections per day.
                                  GOD bless you.
                                  Peace.

Why is there no salat between Fajr and high noon?

                                    peace

                                      Peace JavaLatte,

Do you believe in three Salat per day? If the answer to that question is yes, do you have any Quranic evidence which supports your claim?

Currently, I'm leaning toward performing solemn ritual three times in a day.

But it's not a claim from my side (I'm not claiming about it), because I still don't know for sure about it, Hiroshi.

I consider that daily solemn ritual is prescribed in the Qur'an as the applicative method of Salat. I also consider that the word Salat itself could be used for the other context which is non ritual, but for all cases of Salat, to me it seems that "Salat" implies connection/attachment/bond/strong relation.

                                      Peace.

I have followed discussion about shalat teen years ago. It is interesting that there are many idea/ways from one source, Quran. I think most of people here agree that quran is for everybody. If quran for everybody, that's mean quran will be read by people from different race, ethnics, culture and even different way to pray God. Allah creates this world in diversity. Therefore, that's why term shalat used in quran as "common word" suggesting "something" already "known" by every people in this world. So, no need to give specific rule for that shalat. If Allah want it, He did in Quran, but in my point of view, it seem Allah let the "diversity" to approach Him. That's mean there is diversity to approach Allah too, as He did diversity for our food, our language, our skin color, and our point of view.

Above of all, that Allah want it only two things from us 1) tauhid and 2) do a good think during our live in this world (amalan shalihan). As people keep "monotheis" or tauhid in various kinds of praying, it seem acceptable. Maybe by this approachment we can stop talking about variation how to pray to God (Allah). It seem not only this world has biodiversity in live (animal, culture, everything) and but also has diversity too how to reach/pray Allah (as far we keep "tauhid" in it).

If Allah let how to pray has diversity as He did for our culture, food etc, I am affraid if the topic about how to do shalat will be endless discussion or debate for "unifying or showing one idea/way is better than others" how to pray Allah (shalat).

My temporary conclusion diversity (of way to pray god) in unity (only to Him the pray is allowed)

                                        The ayaah as reference

And He it is who causes gardens to grow, trellised and untrellised, and palm trees and crops of different food and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of its fruit when it yields and give its due on the day of its harvest. And be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess.(6141)

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted (4913)

O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous (221)

And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah (aslama) while being a doer of good (muhseen) and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend.(4133)

                                          Peace Javalatte,

Thank you for answering my questions.

Currently, I'm leaning toward performing solemn ritual three times in a day.

But it's not a claim from my side (I'm not claiming about it), because I still don't know for sure about it, Hiroshi.

I think that you are on the right track. It seems that if we admit that we don't know the right/correct meaning of a quranic term/concept, then we will be able to get the right/correct meaning of that quranic term/concept. From my experience, if we deny the fact that we don't know something, then we will not be able to incorporate new knowledge into our minds. There is a quote by Bruce Lee which goes like this

"Those who are unaware they are walking in darkness will never seek the light."

I consider that daily solemn ritual is prescribed in the Qur'an as the applicative method of Salat. I also consider that the word Salat itself could be used for the other context which is non ritual, but for all cases of Salat, to me it seems that "Salat" implies connection/attachment/bond/strong relation.

I mostly agree with your views regarding Salat.
