    Salam

Based on my understanding of the Quran it is haram to marry christian woman who believe in the trinity. This is based on Quran 6010 and Quran 572-73.

6010 says that it is haram to hold onto marriages with kuffar woman. 572 573 says that whoever believes in the trinity/ believes jesus is god “kafaru”.

I know there is a verse that says we can marry from ahl al kitab however, there used to christians that didn’t believe in trinity and I think that is what this is referring to.

      Peace...

One of the toughest thing to figure out...honestly very difficult.. instructions are clear in Quran... BELIEF + MUHSANATHI = QUALIFICATION FOR MARRIAGE FOR A BELIEVER.. i hope i am correct...
belief + muhsanathi could be in any race or culture .. they can be even in Jews, Christians , Muslims etc..
If modern day Jew believe in God and obey Him and righteous then what difference to any other believer on the earth... same for Christians.. if she believes in One God and practice good and avoid evil.. so on..
my concern is how do we perceive them when it comes to marriage..
according to all possible verses, do you think conventional muslims are allowed to marry for a good believer?
God says those who not judge what is revealed to them is Kafr... Do conventional muslims judge by what is revealed to them? So do they qualify to be a wife of a believer?

Being a believer seems to be the strongest condition by God to have marriage partner..it makes lot of sense in terms of believer..

If you say modern day Christians or Jews then better to include modern day muslims into that list as well...
why not think this way there can be a modern day Hindu who accepts Brahma as God and never associate anything with God...

My question to you.. Is modern day muslims haram for marriage? if not why ... do you think modern day Jews reject God? Do you think all modern day christians take jesus as God?
Modern day muslims may say God is one ... have they made God as one in reality or they associate ? if association is part of life how come God is one for them?

There is some Unitarian Christians for example
        https//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitarianism

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Salam, I am strictly talking about christians that believe in trinity. In the quran it makes it clear that somebody that says jesus is god “kafaru”. Regardless of the reason they are doing this, it is kufur, and therefore they are not permissable for marriage.

I believe it is best to marry a muslim for the unity of the marriage and so that children don’t come out confused.

Allah knows best, may Allah guide us to the truth

Also could we take these verses to imply that Christians who believe in trinity are not from ahl ul kitab?

              Let's examine 6010...

              يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
O, you who believed (already have a belief in Allah and His resool)
              إِذَا جَاءَكُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ مُهَاجِرَاتٍ
after mu'minaat brought to you muhaajiraat

This part doesn't talk about "believing women", because muhajiraat is not an adjective of el-mu'minaat, but is an object of a verb jaa'e, and its subject is el-mu'minaat. This means that mu'minaat (believing women, already in a community) brought some women muhaajiraat (refugees). This is very important, because we cannot test somebody for iimaan if Allah already said he/she is a mu'min.

              فَامْتَحِنُوهُنَّ
then - test them (these muhaajiraat).

How can we test them? How can we know if somebody's a believer and Allah's telling us that there were munaafiqoon only He knew? It's very simple, because Allah used a specific word for this testing and He already told us in 493 how He tested people.

The test can be positive or negative, and it should be according to our knowledge. These women can be munaafiqaat, but it's not our problem, since we cannot know each and every of them, some act above our knowledge. If we recognize them as mu'minaat we should do what was said, otherwise (else) marriage is not mentioned, but keeping these women among believers. They should be sent back and ask if we spent anything on them, while they were tested.

If somebody already married a Christian woman (or any other) then he knew about her, unless she lied. Wife's main source for information about the Qur'an should be her husband. If there's some issue then what is said in "beating wife" aayet (I don't think it's about beating, but it's how 434 is recognized) should be done, in order to solve the issue. If this became a problem then, if he thinks so, he should (not) hold her married.

I see women today having more love towards truth and knowledge.

Also I don’t believe that most modern day muslims are mushrikeen. There is a verse that says obey Allah and his messenger. They believe that the ahadith are the actual sayings of the prophet. I think that alot of it is corrupted and thats why I can’t trust them. I am not a wholesale rejector of hadiths. When it comes to law, I only use Quran. Actually the only thing I really use them for is du’aas

i don't get what you mean by that (highlighted)... lol..

Conventional Muslims are mostly so religious in terms of rituals... God's Message is in the book of Quran... i am afraid they follow it or not... Do you think a true believer away from conventional life style be able to live a true life with conventional Muslim.. If possible with conventional Muslim why not with any other religious people... Everyone has a sort of belief in God/ gods except Atheists..
Why God insist word Believing woman when it comes to marriage.. God definitely knows when he said it is permitted to marry people of the book but condition is believing woman ... so she is not associating.. if trinity is accepted she is associating though she is part of people of book...
same when it comes to muslims.. They have clear signs of associating with God... Coz taking another in place of Gods book per se is worse than many association... coz instead of guiding light they have opted another book..

Sorry, I misunderstood what you said earlier. To you point about the muminat, the verse says that they are not lawful (wives) to the kuffar. It would make the most sense that they are strictly muslims, because if they weren’t then why would they follow a rule from a book they don’t believe in.

Because our beliefs are extremely similar, they do not worship the prophet, and it would be easy to make them see that there are corruptions in the ahadith.

If somebody knows about Islam, and they reject it, then there is a high possibility they are kafir, we don’t know what is in there hearts, therefore it is too risky to marry them.

                          How so?
Btw I am not a quran only muslim. I follow the sunnah on how to perform rituals, such as praying. These are muttawatir traditions that have been succesively passed down by most muslims throughout the generations. I don’t see why or how they would be corrupted. I can see why the ahadith would be corrupted by people for their own personal gain but not this. We can agree to disagree on this. Not something im interested in debating

After reading some verses, my opinion is incorrect. Ahl ul kitab are mentioned in the quran as doing shirk. However it is only permissible to marry a christian woman, it is not permissible to marry a christian man. I base this on the fact that god prohibited us from marrying kufar, christians are mentioned as “kafaru” but he only made an exception for men to marry ahl ul kitab.

I don't think you picked the verse correct... Why you say only Christians here.. Is ahl Ul Kitab means only Chrisitians.. my point here though is why you say only men are allowed to Believing Chrisitain women... from where you say this.. did you misunderstand the verse or you say coz conventional muslims say so...
Same verse says all foods of ahl ul kitab is permitted for you... Does that mean only Men can eat those food not women...
God has said clearly who are allowed to marry.. All of them women in general... take quran in wide angle.. It may have used in male form but it applies to women as well...

Why a woman cannot marry a believing men from Christian? What reason.. If he is a believer what's wrong in that person... Is it coz his race Nasara/Christian? How can being a Nasara disqualifies for marriage while he is a believer ...
so unless you give a rational reply... i totally disagree with you..
                              thank you

                                @almaz...
why not get out of the shackles of conventional way and think broadly with wits...

see the logic... A (Christian) believing woman allowed to marry a Man from a normal (Ummi) believing Man.. so she has the privilege just coz she is a christian, but a believing woman (ummi) cannot marry a believing man from Christian...

what logic is that? God is just ... don't make Him unjust unknowingly...

2221 says clearly don't marry those who associate... coz they drag us to Hell fire...how can one live a family life who gradually drag us to fire.. No way.. find out what shirk according to quran..

My view is based on reasoning not because of what traditional muslims say. I say christians because they are mentioned as kafar. God forbade us from marrying kufar. God made a specific exemption for men to marry christian woman since they are ahl kitab, if the same exemption applied to marrying christian men, then it would’ve been stated that there is an exemption for them as well. Their is no such statement therefore Haram.

Another thing to keep in mind is in the modern world, it is extremely difficult to find chaste woman that are not muslims, so this discussion is more of theoretical discussion.

No dear ... no logic at all in your statement... same as hadith followers...

                                    read verse 55 carefully...
okay.. let's put this way.. Did God ever said in a separate verse for women that you should not marry such and such people.. God said only to Men.. So where is instruction in separate verse for women...So if you take that verse as common why not this...

                                      @almaz...
why not get out of the shackles of conventional way and think broadly with wits...

see the logic...

You cannot say that either christian is a believer, if they were they would’ve accepted Islam. Also men are naturally the leaders in the relationships, it is a lot more likely for a man to drive his wife away from islam than vice versa.

No dear ... no logic at all in your statement... same as hadith followers...

                                        read verse 55 carefully...
okay.. let's put this way.. Did God ever said in a separate verse for women that you should not marry such and such people.. God said only to Men.. So where is instruction in separate verse for women...So if you take that verse as common why not this...

                                        Quran 6010

Also it is not right for you to insult me. We are having a discussion, if you fail to see the logic then plz first try to understand my reasoning without having a knee jerk reaction.

423 Prohibited to you are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your father's sisters, your mother's sisters, your brother's daughters, your sister's daughters, your mothers who nursed you, your sisters through nursing, your wives' mothers, and your step-daughters under your guardianship of your wives unto whom you have gone in. But if you have not gone in unto them, there is no sin upon you. And the wives of your sons who are from your loins, and that you take two sisters simultaneously, except for what has already occurred. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.

okay bring me the verse for women if this is only for Men...?

55 "This day good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking lovers. And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

So the above verse 55 only for Men...
and 423 is only for Men...
                                          where is women..?
