IF you are reffering that love is so good and yada yada becoz how to people care for each other. Then here is a secret. 2 people dont have to be in love to actually care for each other. 2 people are just fine without love. Its when they love that things go wrong.

        Peace,

I have read about love in connection to oneness and peace --in oppostion to affection or love for a person or family or group.

If we are one in essence, the good or the bad we do to others we are doing to ourselves. From this perspective, the aim of becoming a loving person for all looks easier. 'All' includes our enemies too. This can be possible if we are in the state of peace. This love demmands not seeking anything in return.

The other concept of love, for specific people and expecting something in return, say for the children or familiy or friends,or the husband and wife would be called differently, maybe affection or something else.

Anwering the question, my answer is not, love is n ot an illusion.

          Salaam all,

I think there are people here who have had their heart broken.

But we must go on always and we might could find love again )

Both men and women can be hurt in love and that can also be a test from God to see how tolerate we are and so on.

          Peace

sure 2 peopel can be fine without love,
i believe love (like most things)isn't somthing you can have a clear view on, unless you've honestly experienced it, as far as male/female relations go,
i dont know when it is honeslty 'experienced' in a relationship, i guess you jsut kind of know...i have yet to feel that, i'm tired....etc....)

              Salaam Br Jaxal,

I agree with you that two person can have a relationship based on friendship and they don't have to be LOVERS.

But if this relationship would grow, what would you do then, close your feelings?

I think we have to be and stay open for love.

The problems is that some people love too much and too deep and it can create problems if the partner will end the realationship and the other part isn't ready for that.Yes love can be painful but we shouldn't give it up!

              Peace

                  Salaam Cutie br Jaxal,

                  Man, you are hopeless o

Yes of course love is an emotion but often it last longer than the time it can take to eat a bar of chocolate, right!?

How can you compare women and chocolate!? shock

So we are only a tasty bit of chocolate!?

Im not hopeless, im mearly stating my observation http//www.geocities.com/bigjaxal/s1.gif. I can think of many reasons why women are similar to chocklate. As for women being tasty bit of chocklate, I would say, that this is a very complicated question to which the most simple simple answer would be, Yes and No. http//www.geocities.com/bigjaxal/s1.gif. Ofcourse, that being my personel opinion.

                          Hello All,

Thank you all for the varied replies. It seems that most of us are focused on the love of another individual in a romantic way. That is why you get the broken-hearted denouncing love as a joke and a bad illusion! But I say to you what about love of God or love of a child? Is that a joke and illusion too, for you?

Perhaps we all first learn something of the Power of Love through a romantic attachment to others? And perhaps that has always been the starting point in our understanding of the meaning of Love? But as we grow and come to terms with love so does our understanding of the power of love grows too. It is then we start to realise and come to this view point Love is not Sex but sex can be part of Love. But whatever Love is it is never an illusion nor it is a joke. Love is very transforming, love is very redemptive...

                          Regards,

jaxal was refering to the type of love you experience with your partner as a 'joke...etc

i hope he/she doesn't think the love you have for God or a child is a ''joke'' )

                              Salaam all,

Yes I do also agree with Lote tree, love cannot be an illusion and sex cannot be love only a part of love.

Love of a child can never die out because they are your own flesh and blood.

                              Peace

                                Peace Neo,

Why do you work? - 'cause i needs the moneys

Besides food, shelter, and clothing, why do you 'need' money?

Why do you give? - 'cause i believe in a cause greater than I

Please explain the correlation. Do you give to your family for a greater cause, or do you give to your family for them?

Why do you sacrifice? - it's inevitable

How? What would happen if you didn't sacrifice?

Why do you compromise? - inevitable

How? What would happen if you didn't compromise?

Why do you lie? - 'cause I'm an asshole

We're all assholes wink But that doesn't answer the question.

Why do you tell the truth? - 'cause I'm an asshole

                                Please see above.

Why do you learn? - 'cause it's my passion

I see, so you love knowledge?

                                Peace,

                                  peace all

                                  Lots of cynicism here. Wow.

I liked your questions, Tay. )

And an interesting thread, LT. Doesn't King Arthur have a lesson on love that fits with what you're saying?

Romantic love is superficial, shallow and fleeting. So is it really "love"? It seems to be just a starter emotion that could lead to deeper love.

For real love seems to be a far sturdier emotion and one that pushes us beyond seeking our own gratification. And this includes love for others besides romantic partners.

For love, I give more of myself. I go out in bad weather, go to places I would not normally go. I've sat through difficult conversations, gone hungry, been thirsty, spent money, cried, and even said goodbye. Whatever I have done, the same has been done for me in return--and perhaps more.

Even for healthy self love, I do what is best for my well-being, rather than what feels good. This includes walking away from romantic "love" when I know the relationship isn't good for me.

The emotion we feel, what we call "love," may be only an internal barometer of sorts, a way of letting us know something's there. Otherwise, love seems to be a force we can tap into and act upon, unseen yet affecting us and connecting us with others. Empathy and care seem to be involved, although I'm not sure if they're the seeds or the water. If anybody finds a lost metaphor, it could be mine. D Or if you find a lost love, that could be mine too.

So I don't think love is an illusion. It's similar to gravity--we know what gravity is when we feel it. At least, however, we've figured out how to measure gravity!

Lolll SM, we willl truely tease each other till death do us part Lolllll

Love of a child can never die out because they are your own flesh and blood.

I will disagree with you here SM. A snake eats her own eggs, did you know that? A cat eats its dead kitten. So does a hamster. As far as human mothers go, they will also try to destroy their children. I have seen it. So you simply cannot say a mother's love for her child can never die.

                                    To everyon else

Love , at best, is an excuse to have sex with the opposite sex and feel good about it. Thats it. There is NOTHING a person can do in love which he/she cant do when NOT in love. Prove me wrong here.

Love... its such an ambiguous word. We love our parents, we also love our cars. We love our house. We love our kids. We love our spouses. We love the sky. We love the angels. I love KFC. I love my honda. I love the night sky when its dark and raining. I love the stars. I love mountains. I love kittens and puppys. I also love the smell of my mom's cooking. I love the morning air. I love dance music. I love God. I love maltezers.

So, is loving my honda = Loving my God? Is loving my child = Loving my wife? that not only sounds wrong, but sounds disgusting. The word is the same love and yet how can i love my child same as i love my wife? or even God??

Love is an abused word. People stick it anyones face without thinking twice. I did it. So i know. Frankly, the meaning of Love is lost. Its just another word. Nothing special. People are stuck on the drama and movies where the hero will destroy whole armies just to get to his girl. Its a fantasy. Love is a poor man's dream and hope. Nothing more.

                                          Hello Lote Tree, all

But I say to you what about love of God or love of a child? Is that a joke and illusion too, for you?

I don't know what is "love of God"

Do you mean to be aware of the creator, and and comply to the rules we think it demmands us?

I am serious, I don't know what it is.

I just understand that a bit, not totally, if we see it from the "oneness" concept. And you have said in other threads that "God" is not an objective fact but has always been a subjective experience of the individual. Can you link this with the the concept of 'love of God' please?
