"Love" is not preached in the Quran. Why? Because that term is too broad. Love can be an intense feeling/ emotion or it can be a charitable act. Christians say of the Quran "The Quran does not teach us to love." Christians look at the mushy side of it.

Since the Quran is the best hadith, it goes straight to the point. It teaches us charity, justice, honesty, commitment, defense of the weak, etc..That is what "True Love" is all about.

Isn't there a verse in the Qu'ran which says "...God put love in your hearts..." I could be wrong.

      Peace and Love and Compassion

There is this old receipt from my teacher, (of course this had a little to do with discussion of nature of love but it had to do with chemistry) he spoke like this
There is four points that will be able to make a relationship go on and nurture till the end (maybe he means 'till death part us' here)

      1. The couple should have the same degree of spirituality
      2. The couple should have the same degree of generousity (mudhita)
      3. the couple should have the same degree of compassion
      4. the couple should have the same degree of wisdom

This receipt, strangely also works for generality, from the best criminal couple to the best or holy couples. But i do not have any validation, this is just a conjencture based on a quote.

[However, very little is known abut "unconditional love". When certain Buddhists were encountered by the Muslim invaders in the East, they accepted death with smile because it was against their philosophy to even hate their enemy at the time when they were beheaded. For them this was an ultimate test of "unconditional love". So my question is, how can we, then, define such love (unconditional) which neither falls into the hedonistic/selfish nor compassionate repertoires of human nature?

We may define such unconditional love quite easily (according again to foolish me)...

        1. The love that is not clouded by greed, hatred, and folly
        2. The love that is radiant, immeasurable, and unselective
        3. In buddhist proverbs it spoke of "Like a mother who will shield her only child when the danger comes", so unconditional love is like that

Yet, people often assumed that the compassion we give to other people, which produced self-confidence, self-satisfaction, is 'classified' as egoistic deed. In my humble opinion, i ask if people ever analyze themselves and find that they are very difficult to escape such 'egoistic' feeling, and finally feel bad upon themselves. I say, don't be! Because it is the mechanism of mind to generate more habit to radiate compassion and eventually it rewards us in unique kind of peace (that is not clouded or mired except if you have ulterior agendas... ). )

So, have the unconditional love within our selves.
