Well I have.. with my own eyes..
Witchcraft, demon posessions are 'real phenomenon'... what is the purpose for Al-Falaq nor An-Nas written then?

    Can you elucidate?

Here is an alternative translation of the sura 113

    http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=38576&highlight=#38576

    Chapter 113

In the name of God, Most Powerful and Most Merciful

1 Say ?I seek shelter with the Lord of the emergence (of Truth)
2 From the harm of created things,
3 From the harm of the obscuration (of knowledge) spreading
4 From the harm of those who disrupt binding contracts
5 And from the harm of the envious when they hold a grudge.

As for why Yusaf Ali was into putting secret arts and dark prophecies in his translations, I have no clue because when looked at in other translations it is different, but sura 2102, now that's interesting.

      Salam sis SC

      I've posted somethin' on 2102
      http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=768&highlight=#52968

Say ?I seek shelter with the Lord of the emergence (of Truth)

A sunni scholar once told me, there are other 'meanings' of Al-Falaq, it could also mean 'the period/border between the two', 'the period/border between changes' such as dark to light, night to day, day to night, light to dark and also the period/border between the future and the past or the shall and the was..

Interestingly a jewish rabbi told me one of the 'meanings' of YHVH is He Who Was, Who Is and Shall be or He that fully control/posses the past, the present and the future.

4 From the harm of those who disrupt binding contracts

      My translation (literal)
      1134
wa min syarii = and from evil / bad deeds / harm
      an-naffashati = who breath / blows
      feel ukhod = upon knots

"The one who breath upon knots" <= here's the keyword... any suggestions on what it truly means?
For the meantime, I go with Yusuf Ali's exegis, the one who do witchcraft..

      Allah knows best

        Salaam,

I think we shall be very careful with witchcrafts and black magic because so much evil is in this things.

Why not trust the Almighty and let him guide and guard you from the evil ones.

Knots in my extensive research on the occult (around 8 yrs back), are actually used in witchcraft as they call it...it's also something that has been around for a long time, in celtic cultures even our subcontinental culture...apparently something braided/knotted can be used as a focus or one could use something that belongs to the person...and the blowing is also involved in some instances...sooo, I really don't know, I found the alternative interesting as well...like blowing/disrupting knots/bonds. As long as 2102 is the way it is, it is bound to lend credence to the magic/sorcery...but it's out of my league at the moment

          Best Regards,
          Nadia

One thing for certain, do not be affraid of them...dare them, scare them because they're also scared of human. And we human are not defenseless against them. Prophet Ibrahim threw stones at them and prophet Jesus Bdj. M.D (Bachelor of Djinnology and Master at Demonology) manages to kill some of them... proves that djinns and/or demons are not eternal beings or species.

Maybe someday in the future, we could create a myriad of devices and weapons to detects, kill or maybe caught them all to a point of 'near extinction' twisted (And even build the 'Djinnies Park' !) And those pesky "Green Peace" activists will surely make a fuss over it and start their own "Save The Djinns" campaign. lol

BTW is it "evil" to do "evil thing" to "evil"??

                  Salaam,

From what I do know, witchcraft is the art of doing magic. Magic is not any of the hocus pocus the movies bring is. Magic the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with the will. This is how the sorcerers define it. So sure, it is real, but it is probably not as we concieve of it.

                  Joe

My grandmother used to tell me of a lady who lived in her nighbour hood when she was little. And she used black magic on other people to harm them. As a price, her kids died. She had 1 kid remaining and the people of the town had to hold her back and make her swear on her kid's life for her not to every practice black magic again.

^^ HAHAHA that made me chuckle.

Yeh Jaxal shit like that happens but logical & reasonable people are quick to label it as superstition. But if your a believer(Mumin) you would believe in the Ghayb or the Unseen. Part of the connection we have with God is beyong logic and reason I read somewhere which does make sense personally.

I totally agree with you. There IS a 'Ghyab' and the unseen which we are unaware off. If God says its there, then who are we to argue with God?

Here is the verse from the Quran that proves the existance of Magic (well atleast for me)

And they followed what the devils recited regarding Solomon's kingship. Solomon did not reject, but it was the devils that rejected by teaching people magic, and teaching them what was sent down on the two Angels in Babylon, Haroot and Maroot. They did not teach anyone until they would say "We are a test, so do not lose faith!" Thus they teach what can separate between a person and his mate; but they cannot harm anyone except by God's permission. And they learn what harms them and does not benefit them, and they have known that he who purchases such has no place in the Hereafter. Miserable indeed is what they purchased with their souls if only they knew!

I haven't come across a verse where "good magic" CANNOT be used. I have some detailed information on this kind of stuff like summoning jinns etc and its very interesting.

Its a skill that not everyone possesses and it should be learned to counteract "bad magic" and to help people. It can also be used to develop closeness to God and the spiritual world that he has created.
