    Peace to you too

    Peace be with you bro

Ok, let us take that as correct but If they are single than what??

Why a single woman has to marry a married man?

Haven?t you ask yourself this question bro?

Would you allow your virgin daughter to marry a married man?

what a virgin woman is missing to not to deserve to marry a man who is not already married?

is it love between the two?, if so, then sorry, it has nothing to do with the orphans, yet if it is love, how that new love can be equal to the exiting love he already has?

The Question is "How many wives can a Muslim have according to Quran?"

Women are not slaves for men to talk about them as a max number to marry, this is ridiculous,

Men can only marry widows with orphans as far as the verse states, it starts with mentioning that if we fear to be unjust with the orphans then we marry up to 4 women who had them

But let me ask you first bro?

If we have a problem in hand which is fearing not to be just with the orphans, how the proposed solution of marrying any other women will fit in the picture as a solution to the problem?,

So if we consider the verse as follow

If you fear not to be just with the orphans then marry any 4 women of you choice,

Come on bro that does not makes sense at all

The solution of marrying any 4 women is not a solution when we fear not to be just with the orphans, or what do you think?

Therefore from your post, I conclude that Quran allows only one Wive, but in the case their are women weather divorced or whom husband's have died with children's, Muslims can marry up to four.
And you have specifically related it with "Uhud"
    Is that what you meant?

    Absolutely

Any struggling women with children whom even their father is alive but left them and don't give a shit about them can be considered under this law, it is all about raising the children who are missing the father?s care to be raised properly

Yes I did related the verse to Uhud battle, as far as I believe the verse was revealed after too many Muslim men died in Uhud and left many widows and orphans, the other Muslim men did not know what to do with the huge number of widows and orphans especially their fathers died in the cause of Allah

I believe some may even took oath to just take care and provide to them, however how we can guarantee that this kind man will continue to provide to them?, the best answer as recommended by our creator is to marry their mothers

I will try the bring the whole article in here, it may add extra info to my understanding

    Peace

Peace,I read the instruction as 4 wives being allowed on condition that 3 are mothers of orphans who are being taken in under the mans care.

      Peace mate

I agree regarding the women taken under the men's care, "Ma Malakato Aymanikom"

I would say they sound like orphans to me, it is like there is no one to take care of them, then Allah does not want them to miss out and He wants us to elevate their status to legal wives, Allah knows best

this is the closet of meaning I managed to find that is compatible with Allah great teachings and laws

      peace

        SaLaM Ahmed

of course not, this is just the common sense

Its a funny things, common sense. For example, it would be common sense for the woman to have a child with her first husband before having unprotected sex with her other 3. This would obviously solve the 'whose the father' mystery. Or it would be common sense, that the woman is unable to have babies so 'whose the father' mystery wont even play. Or how about this, perhaps the woman DONT WANT to have any more babies. So she is in a good financial position. She marries 4 husbands with orphans. either she dont have sex with them or has protected sex with them.

You look at this from a male prospective. No love. Oh yea, im a macho man supporting 4 wives with orphans. IM KING KONG. but look at it through the woman's prospective. How many sisters here on the forum are with children? would even one of you be OK to share your husband with another woman? Where is the love? A man cannot love more than 1 woman. how can he do justice between them? This is all from God. This is the command of God. Im sure i dont have to give you the verses. But when a man takes a second wife, he is in direct violation of the laws set by God on this matter. Same goes for the woman. Using your argument, even if the woman didnt want to have any babies, it still would be against the law of Allah on this matter.

yes I agree that sex with more than one partners will make all vunerlable for STDs if any there

bnut the assumption is, now days both partners must be checked for STD before marriage is fulfilled, I will do that myself, we can?t take any risk in the 20s century

but I believe Allah can stop any disease to any person by just a two letters word

This would obviously solve the 'whose the father' mystery. Or it would be common sense, that the woman is unable to have babies so 'whose the father' mystery wont even play.

another tough note, however if a woman can?t have children remember that Allah made her this way as He stated in His Quran, so He will be the only one to take care of her really

Or how about this, perhaps the woman DONT WANT to have any more babies. So she is in a good financial position. She marries 4 husbands with orphans. either she dont have sex with them or has protected sex with them.

possible but she will be called a sl** even by non muslims

You look at this from a male prospective. No love. Oh yea, im a macho man supporting 4 wives with orphans. IM KING KONG. but look at it through the woman's prospective.

I?m looking at it from the women perspective, I actually don?t give a fluke about the men perspective because I know most of them will interpret it to their benefit

If a widow or a divorcee who have children and struggling in life, then it is ok for a capable man to marry them and help them and their children, if they manage to find a single man to marry them then piece of cake but I can assure you it is going to be hard for them, especially if they are deprived from beauty and old

How many sisters here on the forum are with children? would even one of you be OK to share your husband with another woman?

this question was asked on a sunni forum that I don?t like and to my shocking surprise most sisters there came with an answer that they will be happy to share their husband, now I now that most of them are F of S, and surely brain washed

Where is the love? A man cannot love more than 1 woman. how can he do justice between them?

a man can love more than one woman but he will never love them equally

This is all from God. This is the command of God. Im sure i dont have to give you the verses. But when a man takes a second wife, he is in direct violation of the laws set by God on this matter.

not a violation as such, I agree that polygamy comes with its disadvantages however the main reason is to take care of the children, now a less hard is ok to prevent a bigger harm, this is the general rule in Islam, so the less harm of not being equal to 4 wives is ok to commit if a bigger harm of the orphans not raised in a healthy environment , now if men wants to listen and obey Allah advice that we will never be equal then we should marry only one and don?t worry about the orphans then this is the way to go ?marry only one? and I?m in favour of marrying only one regardless of the orphans, I have been married for 16 years and can?t imagine I can live with a second wife or even replace the one I?m married to with another for good, so I?m also not in favour of divorce, it just can?t happen in my life inshaaallah

Same goes for the woman. Using your argument, even if the woman didnt want to have any babies, it still would be against the law of Allah on this matter.

              I agree

              peace

                Ahmed says

Why a single woman has to marry a married man?

Why not? Besides there can be many reasons; for love, for lust, for money, for security, for fame etc.

Haven?t you ask yourself this question bro?

                Is that important?

Would you allow your virgin daughter to marry a married man?

I think Abu Bakr had better mental level then me.

what a virgin woman is missing to not to deserve to marry a man who is not already married?

I think we have to ask it From Ayesha but sorry we cant contact her.

The solution of marrying any 4 women is not a solution when we fear not to be just with the orphans, or what do you think?

What you are trying to bring forward is the translation of the verse according to your understnading, and I said Ok let us agree. The verse is talking about marrying 2's 3's anb 4's women who are mothers of orphans.

Men can only marry widows with orphans as far as the verse states, it starts with mentioning that if we fear to be unjust with the orphans then we marry up to 4 women who had them

Does it says up to 4? please read it again does it impose any limit?

If you fear not to be just with the orphans then marry any 4 women of you choice,

Come on bro that does not makes sense at all

Yes, it does not make sense at all. So? we take that the verse says
Marry in two's , three's and four's the women who are widow and have kids.
Therefore Quran allows to have more than one wife or when you marry a widow you don't call her wife?
If you call widow a "wife" than quran allows you to marry morethan one wives according to the verse you quoted, well if you have any other word for "wife" who is a widow than we want to know it.

Women are not slaves for men to talk about them as a max number to marry, this is ridiculous,

Well ridiclous or not one thing is sure your reading and understanding of Quran is either not complete or you have not gone ethrough the verses in which "SLAVES" the WOMEN SLAVES" are allowed to have sexual relationship with.

Also prohibited are the women who are already married, unless they flee their disbelieving husbands who are at war with you.

Now these women are niether divorced nor widow ; what do you say?

Those among you who cannot afford to marry free believing women, may marry believing slave women...

Slave women, Quran talks about women slaves and you say it is ridiculous.

In your attempt to show us that that particular verse you mentioned is regarding Orphan's and their mothers you are not able to get my question
So I repaet it once again

How many wives are allowed for a Muslim according to Quran??
therfore let us stick to the question.

And if take your answer that Quran says "Marry only one"
                than
Have you read the following verse

Only with their spouses, or those who are rightfully theirs, do they have sexual relations; they are not to be blamed.
I guess the word used here is Plural for wives, do you agree? and in addition to that Slaves.

                  Ahmed says

Why not? Besides there can be many reasons; for love, for lust, for money, for security, for fame etc.

well, most women will not, I think most virgins will prefer to marry a single man, and I guess over 90% of will have this attitude

all that other reasons you listed above are not accepted in my books except security, i.e. "if that woman was threatened physically or financially and could not find any other protection other than to marry a married man". but yet the married man should be ready to committ the sin of not being equal with two wives

Haven?t you ask yourself this question bro?

                  Is that important?

                  don't worry about it then

Would you allow your virgin daughter to marry a married man?

I think Abu Bakr had better mental level then me.

well, I'm not going to be side tracked with a story that happened about 1400 years ago when humans had close to nill compared to what we have today, just forget the past unless it is related to a verse in the Quran you want to discuss, I don't think that Aysha marriage to the great prophet was discussed in the Quran

what a virgin woman is missing to not to deserve to marry a man who is not already married?

I think we have to ask it From Ayesha but sorry we cant contact her.

same comment as my last comment, however I'm asking you, not Ayasha, but thanks for letting me know that she is not contactable therefore I'm asking you the same question again

The solution of marrying any 4 women is not a solution when we fear not to be just with the orphans, or what do you think?

What you are trying to bring forward is the translation of the verse according to your understnading,

did I suggest it was to anyone's else understanding?

and I said Ok let us agree.

Yes, it does not make sense at all. So? we take that the verse says
Marry in two's , three's and four's the women who are widow and have kids.

it seems it is the only option because orhans were mentioned as a proplem and that was the proposed solution for that specific propblem, however I delibertly didn't talk about "Ma Malakato Aymanikom" because it is very rare to happen nowdays to have women in your care, I have never seen it in my 40 years of life anyway, I'm trying to tackle the issue of Muslim men abusing this very restricted law and deceiving theor first wives, but at the end of the day it is my personal opinion

Therefore Quran allows to have more than one wife or when you marry a widow you don't call her wife?

a silly question and I decline to answer it

If you call widow a "wife" than quran allows you to marry morethan one wives according to the verse you quoted, well if you have any other word for "wife" who is a widow than we want to know it.

that is the rest of your silly question above and it has to exit through the second ear without processing, sorry I don't take silly comments seriously

Women are not slaves for men to talk about them as a max number to marry, this is ridiculous,

Well ridiclous or not one thing is sure your reading and understanding of Quran is either not complete or you have not gone ethrough the verses in which "SLAVES" the WOMEN SLAVES" are allowed to have sexual relationship with.

look mister quran know it all, I did not accuse you of not reading the Quran because i don't know you, so please don't commit this childish crap and accuse me as such because you don't know me

regarding the verses of the salves, this is circumstantial and mostely for the old days 1400 years ago when slavery was common, now I don't see women slaves around me or hear about them other than what I hear or read about the prostitution industry and the Quran yet tackled this issue of forcing women into prostitution against their will, I see "Ma malkato Aymankom" as not slaves, Quran was against slavery anyway and always encouraged to raise their status to legal wives, the Quran never allow illegal sex, but if men wants to understand it this way, i don't care, neither I will carry any of their sins nor they will carry any of mine, I'm a one woman marraige believer and will stay this way till I die inshaallah

also the arabic word "Abd" which means "Slave", was only used by Allah to decribe the people as his slaves, it was never used to describe a man being a slave to another man, but if it did then again it will be an encouragment to free him/her from the slavery

Also prohibited are the women who are already married, unless they flee their disbelieving husbands who are at war with you.

Now these women are niether divorced nor widow ; what do you say?

Honestly I?m not a fan of this life style, but I have seen them, I lived in the states for a while and with the westerners for over 20 years

In your attempt to show us that that particular verse you mentioned is regarding Orphan's and their mothers you are not able to get my question
So I repaet it once again

I?m not showing anything claiming to be the right answer for whatever, I?m just sharing my thoughts that I feel comfortable with, but there are things that is clear and strong, my strongest argumet is this

                  1. the prophans are the problem in the only verse that allow to marry more than one "rwo, three or four", it was never mentioned any where else, consequently the proposed solution must be related to the problem not bloody a totally different solution that satisfy the evil lust of most men. a problem that men has to fight themselvs and they will be rewarded by hoor el-ein, now why women will not be rewarded sexually as the men in paradise?, have you ever asked yourself that question?

How many wives are allowed for a Muslim according to Quran??
therfore let us stick to the question.

for a true and 100% submitter it has to be ONE, because a true submitter will always try to avoid the least of things that will cause any unfairness and because Allah created us and He knows us the best, He knows that men can not be equal between women so they SHOULD MARRY ONLY ONE

the prophets are different than us and dealt differently by Allah, I can elborate if you like

And if take your answer that Quran says "Marry only one"
                  than
Have you read the following verse

I have read the Quran more than 15 times thoroughly for the the last 25 years and I?m still learning but sure I read the verse many times

Only with their spouses, or those who are rightfully theirs, do they have sexual relations; they are not to be blamed.

I guess the word used here is Plural for wives, do you agree? and in addition to that Slaves.

Oh yeh I agree that it is plural, but the funny thing is this, you want to take it as Allah is talking about a single believer who have many wives, what a perfect case of manipulation by you, you see mister rajah, when we talk about one man who has many cars we say

                  His cars, right mister?

But if we will talk about a few men each with one car, then we say

                  Their cars

And sure the whole sura is talking about the Mo?menoon "A Plural", not a single mo?min and consequently when we talk about their spouses we should say their spouses, the verse did not say ?his spouses? but nice try, here is all the verses from the start of the sura to verse 6, you will sure know what I mean

The believers must (eventually) win through,- ?
?Those who humble themselves in their prayers; ?
                  ?Who avoid vain talk; ?
                  ?Who are active in deeds of charity;
                  ?Who abstain from sex, ?
?Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, ?

                  can you see my point?

For ?Malakat Aymanaikom?, I believe I responded to this already and I consider them as orphans who are in desperate need for care, I can also acceot it as slaves but only at the old days when slavery was common and legal, this is how the Quran can live with all generations

there is part in your comment that I will respond to it later

                  Allah knows best

Hey Raj-ah, here the part that I still need to respoond to it sorry, I just needed to confirm a few issues

Also prohibited are the women who are already married, unless they flee their disbelieving husbands who are at war with you.

Now these women are niether divorced nor widow ; what do you say?

Sorry I don?t see the above flawed translation as what the Arabic verses below said

                    (24)

what you posted ? flee their disbelieving husbands who are at war with you? is a total lie

again I decline to respond because I don?t have time to waste with people are trying to deceive, sorry

Those among you who cannot afford to marry free believing women, may marry believing slave women...

Slave women, Quran talks about women slaves and you say it is ridiculous.

                    (25)

now you are not deceiving when you translate right, but again I don?t see ?Ma Malkatu Aymanikom? as slaves, rather weak women in our care who has no one to care for them, they like orphans for me

                    peace

Im glad you agreed with my post. But just one thing

possible but she will be called a sl** even by non muslims

A woman marries 4 men, which is againt God, and she is considered to be a slut. A man marries 4 women, also againt God, and he is supposed to be doing womankind a favour. Do u see? This is why neither men nor women are allowed to marry more than 1 wife at a time, along with other reasons, even if it is for supporting them. A man is as much of a slut as the women will be if they take more than one spouse.

                        Peace bro

yep I agree thant muslim men has changed the restricted polygamy into a dirty deceotion game that only added to the very well and long esatblkished conspircy against the women of the world

believe it or not bro, I hardly saw any muslim man marrying another widow with children to care for her children as the only motive, I have see many rare incidents where the brother marry his sister in law when his brother died just to care for his children and this sound legal to me

but most men who abuse this restricted license as you said and i second that should be called sluts

                        peace

Let us start from your second post

Sorry I don?t see the above flawed translation as what the Arabic verses below said

And you never Translated it so we can see what your translation is.

what you posted ? flee their disbelieving husbands who are at war with you? is a total lie

And your Proof is? any one who calls another a Liar without proof is.....?

again I decline to respond because I don?t have time to waste with people are trying to deceive, sorry

You have wasted enough time answering my post already! but where you don't have satisfactory answer your logic changes. NO problem.

Following are different translations of well known translators and they all indicate towards what I said
                          004.024
YUSUFALI Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess Thus hath Allah ordained (Prohibitions) against you Except for these, all others are lawful, provided ye seek (them in marriage) with gifts from your property,- desiring chastity, not lust, seeing that ye derive benefit from them, give them their dowers (at least) as prescribed; but if, after a dower is prescribed, agree Mutually (to vary it), there is no blame on you, and Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.
PICKTHAL And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess. It is a decree of Allah for you. Lawful unto you are all beyond those mentioned, so that ye seek them with your wealth in honest wedlock, not debauchery. And those of whom ye seek content (by marrying them), give unto them their portions as a duty. And there is no sin for you in what ye do by mutual agreement after the duty (hath been done). Lo! Allah is ever Knower, Wise.
SHAKIR And all married women except those whom your right hands possess (this is) Allah's ordinance to you, and lawful for you are (all women) besides those, provided that you seek (them) with your property, taking (them) in marriage not committing fornication. Then as to those whom you profit by, give them their dowries as appointed; and there is no blame on you about what you mutually agree after what is appointed; surely Allah is Knowing, Wise.
Rashad Khalifa Also prohibited are the women who are already married, unless they flee their disbelieving husbands who are at war with you.

And even an average Muslim knows that what is which the right hand possess. When there is a War and a women is got as slave who is married, No one goes to get Divorce from her husband she is just married or used by the one who captures.
I will not shout like you that It is wastage of time arguing, but rather will wait for a clear and comprehensive answer from you.
Now offcourse if you want to discuss it in Arabic and end up with Muta being legal well go on.

Let us see what you have to say in your earlier post

well, I'm not going to be side tracked with a story that happened about 1400 years ago when humans had close to nill compared to what we have today, just forget the past unless it is related to a verse in the Quran you want to discuss, I don't think that Aysha marriage to the great prophet was discussed in the Quran

Humans had close to nill?? Amazing, you follow a Book that is 1400 hundred years old which was revealed through a Human, but you think to the persons for whom it was revealed were close to nil. Besides have you ever heared the names of great greek philosphers, the roman poets etc. I think not, otherwise you would have not compared the ancient people with Nil.

Related to a verse in the Quran??
I think I got engaged with the wrong person!
How many verses do you need to be pointed out to you which deal with wives and lives of the marriage life of Prophet?

it seems it is the only option.....

a muslim man can marry up to four wives.....

Allah advises us to marry only one wife

These all are your quotes so what is Final according to your opnion

                            1. One wife?
                            2. Up to four wives?
                            3. One wife and and up to four widows with kids?
                            4. One wife and Slaves who are captured during war?
                            5. One wife at a time up to four?

I think you are confused and trying to make others confuse.

a silly question and I decline to answer it

Well I don't know who is silly here?

look mister quran know it all, I did not accuse you of not reading the Quran because i don't know you, so please don't commit this childish crap and accuse me as such because you don't know me

Well I am starting to know you now.

Rest of post will be answered in my next post.

Allah says in Quran You will never be able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire.

So how many women can you marry despite the above clear warning?

A muslim may marry 3 additional women(must be widows) at a time, ONLY when the following are obeyed.

                                      • when the widows with orphans is incapable of providing , and taking care(of herself and her children) on her own. and is in desperate need of safety and security, and when marriage is the ONLY final resort, with which the man(who wishes to help) can provide for, protect and help them.
*And he is permitted to go ahead, under the above conditions, ONLY if he is capable of being just and impartial among all his wives and capable of providing for all his wives and children, financially and emotionally adequately, in a just and impartial manner.

*The above does not mean women(widows) are incapable of providing for themselves and being secure on their own. They are very much capable of that.
But if a woman is not able to, and needs/requires help and wishes a man to help her and if a man(who wishes to help) cant provide the help required adequately, without marriage, ONLY then, can he marry the woman in question.
*And the man can marry ONLY after obtaining consensus from his exsisting wife.

So, in the above, there are too many clauses and conditions, which pretty much rule out 'permisibility of polygamy' in today's world.

well, Jaxal, Man marrying 3 additional women is implicated ONLY BECOZ those days, men were the bread-earners. Majority of the women were dependent on the man financially, since they did not work, coz they didnt know to or werent allowed to etc and a man had more say in the affairs of the world etc. So, it was only natural for a widow(there were loads of them after the battle of uhud and very very few men left) with children to find herself absolutely desperate and in need of help.
If Women were bread earners and were considered/treated equally then, propably this polygamy option would not have even come up.
polygamy was ONLY permitted for the sake of helping desperate widows with children(who cant help themself). How would polyandry help?
And the marriage is not to satisfy one's lust but its permissible only IF its the only possible way of helping the widow in question adequately.

Like I said, there are too many clauses and conditions, which rules out 'permisibility of polygamy' in today's world.
